Congrats on making it on time! Really cool pixel art and idea :) I cannot wait to see what you will do further with it (if you decide to continue this game development). Cool game!

Hilarious take on the theme. Amazing pixel art. I like how the camera movement made me feel like a drunk pirate.
"An illuminating reflection on the authentic struggle behind the iconic facade of pirate life" - The Guardian
Fantastic pixel art and love the look of it. The core idea is really fun too! If you wanted to take it further I think having missed cuts and sews show up on the cloths and than giving you an accuracy score at the end would be hilarious to see the mangled remains of the clothes you "fix" after the storm. A little sound in there as well and I think it would be a pretty great little game! Great concept, I enjoyed it!
Chaotic in the best way! Enjoyed playing this short fun game!
Hoooo what an amazingly fun concept! It was too short, so I played it a few times.
You did a really good job on the art as well!
:shirt: :sailboat:
Really nice pixel art, and I liked the sway adding a lot more challenge! Despite being cut, some chaotic pirate music really adds to the vibe! Reminds me sort of a warioware minigame, a lot of fun!
Thanks so much on again for playing my game on stream! You're actually such a chill streamer I'll definitely be back just to say hi :) Harrr-vests is an absolute delight. I definitely think you should expand with lots of different scenarios that are trickier than people realise with large boat movements - firing cannons, drawing tattoos, brain surgery. You know, piratey stuff. Like togis I played multiple times :)
Really cool idea, but i feel like making this more tense would work out nicely, like adding a time limit, or just having a max amount of misses you can make, that would make it way more intense, cuz rn you can try how long you want, other than that it's pretty nice, i maybe would change the background color, so you feel more like you are on a ship, but it's just nit picking, great job keep it up
Pretty sure if this game tracked misses I would have been on the plank at least a few times by the end. The art is great, but I really wish you had enough time to add a gameplay element to make it a challenge. Great work for your first solo jam!
Such a hilarious take on the theme. So funny. The gameplay was simple but rewarding, and having the music running in another tab definitely added to the mood. Great work here.
So I usually don't get sea sick on boats, but this game actually made me sick. All jokes aside, this entry was really fun to play. Unfortunately, the lack of music did take away from the mood, but everything else was nice. Good job!
Really fun idea! liked the pixel art a lot, be fun to see holes that you cut in the clothes by mistake  Audio would have made this better - pirate shanty etc.
The arm and the tattoos were really nice - I knew about the needle and thread from stream though
Really fun mechanic good work!
Went back and listened to the music and that fit your game well
Really fun and clever interpretation.
I really liked this. It gave me big Wario Ware vibes! I love how it's a very simple concept used well. There being no way to lose yet the game still being challenging was great for making it feel relaxing and the clothes moving about was a great way to show the ship swaying about and making things more difficult.
I feel using the space key as well as e would be great as well as maybe the mouse but one thing I think I would love is for holding the button down to be how it's done and the challenge being also about keeping as close along it as possible. In my head a Wario Ware/Mario party crayon minigame is what I would love.
This is one of my favourite games of the jam so far! The art was great as well!
First of all, your pixel art is amazing, I love it, then the gameplay is fun but something is missing, maybe a "miss map" as you said in the description and maybe a score based on it. But for a jam game, this game is really great, good job ;)
It's a charming entry that took the theme in a unique and interesting way. If you ever need music for future jams hmu Id love to collaborate with more devs!
A fun game, with humor. I like the concept, only the controls slightly spoiled the fun of the gameplay. Overall, great game! Harr!
Very original take on the theme. Not bad at all for a first solo jam. Simple core gameplay, and the swaying is all you need for "spice". For future jams and games of this sort "fun core mechanics" I suggest finding a simple mechanic that is inherently fun, and then building off of that.
Personally I did not find moving the arm with WASD freely and trying to line up the scissors to the lines that fun. It was kind of weird. That doesn't mean anythings bad with this, I just think a different execution would have been better. I think this would have been better from a "birds eye view" type of camera on a table and mostly what you see is the scissors and the clothing on the table, or something like that.
Just something I've noticed all the games that I adore in this jam have fun core mechanics. Some even walking around is fun because it's so well done.
This game is amazing, And I'm not saying that just because I like puns, and I was thinking of a pirate game at the start as well. One thing I think would be nice would be an in-game tutorial but that's more on me for not reading the page (I'm not nocking you for it just giving you some how to improve it.).
I do think if you made mouse controls it might be more intuitive though not sure that would be good might make it too easy for some. I will also say the fact that you can't lose is nice (not sure if you can but I didn't so I'm basing it on that even though they keep threatening me.).
All in all, the core mechanics are mostly solid and if this is your first solo jam hey you made and released the thing. I do think that if you mark the mistakes, it would be funny if they reacted to them, but I can see how it could be annoying if they actually threw you overboard. But that's my two cents.
Thanks for the game I love that you are just removing arms and legs off of the cloths because they are pirates. It has this whole horrible hidden narrative and I love it. Good work.
Also balancing how much you do is tricky; we entered this jam to see what we could do with a time crunch and I'm generally happy with what we got. Pacing is everything it's not good to burn yourself out and sleep is important. Yip yap.
I'm not sure what I was expecting but it wasn't that lmao Was a very interesting concept and clever use of the theme.
I feel like mouse control would've worked a bit better than WASD but it wasn't bad.
This concept would be hilarious to have some Surgeon Simulator influence and there be utter chaos and tools flying everywhere while you are trying to stitch something.
Thank you all so much for the lovely comments and feedback! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond!
@zimny11 - thanks for the support! I'm still a bit undecided, but will probably try to polish this up for a post jam version over the next week or so.
@bo-dangles - 😂 was meant to be more the boat rocking, but actually gives me some ideas for some drunken levels too! Thanks!
@diesdas - That sounds like some top quality journalism!
@bloodfin - Thanks! Yeah was really hoping to add in the misses as extra stitches but ran out of time! Would be nice to have an accuracy score too, might try to add that in.
@cassreads - Yarrrh! More chaos to follow hopefully!
@togis - Thank you, was hoping to include some more stages to each piece of clothing (adding pockets, covering up bullet holes, etc.) but had to cut loads to get it finished!
@harlow - I did have a few other mini-game type elements planned (threading the needle, cutting cloth to patch up holes, etc.) so definite warioware vibes! 😂
@bobbo - You're very welcome and thanks for the kind words! Really enjoyed the puzzle! Love the idea of extending into tattoos and brain surgery would be crazy! haha
@noeloskar - Thanks for the feedback, yeah was planning to have wooden planks for the floor but realised I was spending too long on the pixelart. I think maybe a challenge option with timer / max misses would be a nice idea too!
@wiredoverload - Wish I'd had time to add more too! Lessons learnt for next time hopefully! Thanks for playing!
@dob - Turned out that I just needed to drag the track into my audio manager in Unity, but forgot to do it 😅 Had the track loaded in and everything. Thanks for the kind words!
@szivacs - 🤣🤣 Thanks! Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
@phillip-scott - Haha thanks, I was so pleased with the needle & anchor tat I just had to mention it! I was looking for a good sea shanty but couldn't tell if the covers I found were royalty free. Thanks for playing and watching! :D
@nullval - Thanks for playing!
@sarah-alexa - I actually had other windows set up for selecting tools / clothes / scraps so space was used to open that window, but wish I'd rebinded as a secondary key for action when I had to cut that scope! Would definitely play better! Cutting back on the scope really gave it such a wario ware vibe :) Thanks for the feedback!
@thejookerful - Thank you for the kind words! 😁
@la-bread - Oooh, checked out your soundcloud and the tracks sound great! Will do! Thanks for playing!
@r00gal - 😁 Thanks for the feedback, and sorry that the controls spoiled it for you!
@qooorti - The birds eye view is a great idea, I got a bit stuck trying to think how to implement the idea and settled with this version. Thanks for the great feedback!
@tristan-doell - Yip Yap! Glad to hearrr you enjoyed the game! Yeah ran out of time to put a tutorial in but that's a great idea. There's no failure state yet, but I was thinking of having you walk the plank if you mess up too much, so that might be in a post jam version. Thanks for playing and the great feedback!
@augmotic - Haha I've actually got Surgeon Simulator written on my notepad! Was planning to look to it for inspiration if I had the time! Thanks for playing!
Interesting idea. Combining the concepts of tailoring and ship shaking to make a very vivid mini-game.
Bahahaha I love that you took the harrr vest word play all the way to a solid finished game! xD It's brilliant and the art work is gorgeous. I really liked this -it was fun, creative and unexpected! Awesome work!! :D
Congrats on your second jam entry!!! I always love a good pun interpretation of the theme--fundamentalists be damned! The pixel art was lovely. I played the pirate music in the background, and it really did sell the vibe ;) Some sea faring sound effects would have been a great addition as well!
#### Some additional ideas: * Additional patterns (other than lines) would have made for good progression, and depending on how you implemented the code, it might not have been too hard. * Also, I think enforcing a penalty for misclicking could have been an added challenge. It might have been hard to implement visually (such as extra cuts on the clothing), but a UI item could have been a start, and it would have prevented me from just spam clicking XD. That said, it was hard enough to get lined up as it was haha.
Great job!
Really innovative idea, instantly thought about monkey island when i saw the pirate themed pixel art, this is not the kind of gameplay i excepted but it's still a nice game for a single person.
The increasing difficulty is on point, the dialogue make it clear what we have to do, maybe it's a bug but i didnt heard any music, some sea shanties would have been a good addition
nice game broo..i like the pixel art and simple concept..controls are quiet easy..good workk
Yaaarrr, thank you for the game! It was pretty fun, and definitely different! I didn't understand why the screen was moving in the first level, so maybe make that clearer during the initial text? I loved the pirate pixel art, and the music (downloaded) was quite nice too!
Thank you!
Love the pixel work! And it was much shorter than expected!! I played it a few more times just to get enough playtime to be satisfied xD hahaha. I was hoping for more things to cut!
I love it when someone thinks outside the box with the theme! I couldn't think of any, but you have, and an amazing concept it is too!
Really enjoyed the play on the theme, pixel art work and idea of the mechanic. Here's some suggestions from my playthrough (mostly outside the scope of what could be done in the time you had): - The camera movement could feel more like it was coming from a wave on the sea. - If made longer would be nice to have a story to tie together the tailoring activities. - Penalties for incorrect stitching (I realised I could spam the stitch button)
Gameplay is fun, art is beautiful but game is a bit short to beat. Also it would be nice to get a penalty if we miss the click. Good job mate!
Really pretty art, just not much gameplay 😢 I like the basic idea and you certainly had something great going with all those gorgeous sprites and a funny interpretation of the theme with characters and dialogues to match, so I sure wish you'd had time to put in the music and some sound effects.
The basic mechanic was interesting and increasing difficulty by making the seas higher tied in nicely. I was a bit confused at first as to why I didn't have to get the lines right in one go, and why there was no penalty for cutting in the wrong place, but that would've probably been impossible in the later levels 😅
If you add(ed) any more, I think some additional ways of mixing it up would('ve) be(en) nice.
What you did manage to get done was great, only problem is that you weren't able to tie it all up. The music you had lined up would've been a great fit, sounding piratey while having an urgency to it. Best of luck for the next one! 💪
Not much gameplay, but still a pretty neat entry. Good job!
