Fun little game and I like that you have to figure it out and it's not immediately obvious at all.

A lot has been said about this little adventure already. I just want to add I enjoyed it. Thanks for the story, graphics and music!
Just to write a few words in your native language "geweldig spel!". It's easy to pick up and hard to master. I too had some slowdown at a later point in the game, not sure what can be done about that, it's probably just the sheer number of "enemies". All in all, you delivered a well rounded and finished game. Congrats!
Enjoyed playing the game, I had not heard much about this pico-8 engine, but it certainly brings back the memories of 8 bit computers. I grew up with the C64 here!
Lovely graphics style, and obviously this fits the theme nicely. I make racing simulations for a living so I might be a bit too harsh here but the collisions of the car (wheels) with the pavement are way too intense. It would have been nice if you bounced off them a bit more. I did not see powerups, drove for a while, and finally ended on my roof. Good job overall!
Great job, it's a bit similar to mine: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/escape-from-space (yeah I know the website discourages me from posting links, but I was just thinking if people like this, they might also like mine, I certainly enjoy both :) )
I definitely enjoyed making it, @curryrice and it does resemble that game a bit but I certainly did not intend to copy it. @hengen I guess my only excuse is I ran out of time in my first jam, and had to skip the sounds. I fully intend to take on all suggestions made here and do a "post LD upgrade" where I polish all the things I had to skip and add a ton more levels. In other words, keep the feedback coming!
Thanks all for the feedback. @blue05 I agree I should either make sure when the rings spawn that you can't immediately collide with them. I'm considering spawning them from further out so they spawn from the "safe zone" and you will never have to fly out that far to make the level.
@rost this was my first jam, and my first ever game with the Godot engine, so I learned a lot. More levels and different ideas for how the rings are combined are on my radar and I will definitely do an update as mentioned before.
@kamuniaft I experimented a bit with moving the spacecraft more towards safety but had not found a good algorithm yet. I do agree with you that something needs to be done there so I'll give that some more thought.
Thanks @japes, @aflatthrasher, @tomycase, @vodzik and @theinkskeleton for your feedback. I basically agree with all of it. I sacrificed some things, like sound, to ensure the game played as good as I could make it in the available time. So I still have a few things to do after this round of evaluations ends. :)
Interesting idea to give the player such control, @aterlamia I had not thought of that but that could add an interesting twist to the gameplay.
Very nice artwork and style. Like @cuoshen I had the bot fall down a few times and not get up again. Would love to see more levels and puzzles in a future version!
Had a great time running the wheel! Could have run a little faster for my taste, especially at the start I was waiting for things to happen. But great job overall!
Thanks for this nice little puzzler. I'll admit I did not finish it... yet! :)
Thanks team, I enjoyed playing the game. Only played as human so far, but it all looks nicely polished!
Great work on the 3D characters and animation. I had to get used to the controls a bit and having the game open in a window had me clicking next to it a few times. Certainly not an easy game to finish!
I thoroughly enjoyed this physics puzzler! Great job also on explaining the mechanics in-game. Proud to share the same title with you! :)
Hello @gasgiant I think you do get it. It is a maze game. The aim is to find your way out before the timer reaches zero and the maze does indeed change when you find certain keys. I'm always open to suggestions. Do you have ideas on how to make this a better game?
I'm enjoying this game. Takes me back to the old days of text adventures. Thanks for sharing!
Simple, clear graphics style. Great gameplay. Would love multiplayer over the network to play this with friends (or even some AI to play against, but now I'm pushing it). Good job overall!
Great job, Glyn, it's fun to play and even a player that just lets the birds fall can sometimes give you a hard time!
I kept coming back for more, to see how wild the camera would get and how far I could make the table travel. Twice I got it over 100 meters. I had a great time, thanks!
Runs really smoothly, and I enjoyed chasing after those tulips while being chased and shot at by that megaspiker!
Thanks for your feedback @kszaku and I agree on the sound effects. My previous games did not even get to the point where I was ready to add audio. Here I decided to try and integrate it anyway, so to be honest I ended up spending more time on the code to make it play sounds then I did on the actual sounds. And it shows. Or "hears" ;)
Graphics are very nicely done and the levels pose some good challenges. The one thing I was struggling with is to aim jumps to I actually land on a platform. I found the 3D effect that is used there a bit confusing. But great job overall!
Got into it really quicky, helped by great graphics and music to cheer you on. Not easy at all,but a fun challenge!
Highly original! The one thing that I was wondering while playing is how do I see my progress. How far am I, when do I complete it? But great idea and execution!
No need to be sorry, @merrow :) I guess if I have to explain it, I failed to make it clear enough in the game. I took the theme as being summoned stranded astronauts to come to their rescue. First by visiting each and every one of them and providing them with an "escape pod", the fighter you control and land next to them, and then the transporter to pick up those fighters. All three of them combined then give you the firepower to clear the asteroids so the mothership can safely pick everybody up to live happily ever after.
Thanks for the kind words @james-greenleaf and @baggersmurf and I'll admit the game can be a bit difficult. It's definitely inspired by some of the really old arcade classics and I've also tried to recreate the difficulty of such games. The attract screen gives you a really short mission brief, but I'll admit you're probably going to do some exploring in the first and second level to figure it all out. There are seven unique levels that wrap around and becoming increasingly difficult the second time round... but I'll admit I have not been able to manage to get that far myself! :)
Hello @sodoj let me take a bit more time to explain how the game works, in case you want to try it again. There are a couple of tasks you need to complete sequentially:
1. At the very start of each level, you get dropped from the mothership in a small fighter. This fighter has a gun which can eliminate turrets located (starting from the second level) on the planet surface. Its gun is too small to destroy the asteroids, so avoid those for now and decend to the surface. Your mission there is to gently land your fighter on one of the platforms where the astronauts are waving to you. Doing so will make that astronaut enter your fighter. At that instant, you get dropped out of a second (and after that a third) fighter, with again the mission to land near one of the astronauts. If you landed all three fighters successfully, the second task starts. 2. You now get dropped in a slightly larger transporter. It has no guns, so avoid the asteroids again as well as any flying saucers that will spawn. Decend to the surface, fly to one of the landed fighers, and hover close to it. Do not land, just hover, and then hold the space bar to activate the tractor beam. Keep it pressed until the fighter has fully been assimilated by your transporter. Then fly to the other two fighters, and repeat the process. This starts the final task. 3. Your thansporter has now gained the ability to shoot, and the combined firepower of the three fighters actually allows you to destroy the asteroids above. You need to clear them all so the mothership can safely pick you up. Shoot any saucers you might encounter for extra points. As soon as all asteroids are gone, the mothership will appear and you can safely exit the level by flying to the top of the screen.
At this point you move on to the next level. If at any point you get shot while flying a fighter, you simply get a new one until you run out of lives and have to try and land it again. If you get shot in a transporter, all astronauts have to be picked up by fighters. In total there are seven levels, and if you reach the end you go back to level one but with an increased difficulty. Enjoy!
@willhoit the clue to landing a ship is to land softly on each of the three landing platforms. Destroying the asteroids is not possible with the small fighters, but once you have picked up the three fighters with your transport you have the combined firepower of the three fighters which fires bigger bullets that will be able to destroy the asteroids.
Very enjoyable game, well executed. Had a great time playing it.

Enjoyed the game, but I too got stuck on the sugar because I initially stopped dragging too soon and then did not figure out how to finish those bags.
Like the game, nice graphics, good soundtrack, but I got stuck while progressing upwards in the first level. There was some unity pop up which I unfortunately accidentally clicked away, but I did take a screenshot of the location where the game got stuck.

Solid game with good music! Enjoyed playing it.
Enjoyed the puzzles, thanks for making this game!
Nice polish and variety in the puzzles! Makes you wonder what comes next. Great job.
As others commented, great art style, and great execution. Played in full screen but still would have liked a bit more control over what I can see. That said, amazing job on getting this done in a single jam!
