Yo the bg music is a banger. Nice touch with the compendium too. Great job overall!

kilthorne 2024-04-16 05:23

I liked the sprite for the player simple yet cute. Mechanics needed some tidying but have good potential

marrs 2024-04-16 09:38

Like the game, nice graphics, good soundtrack, but I got stuck while progressing upwards in the first level. There was some unity pop up which I unfortunately accidentally clicked away, but I did take a screenshot of the location where the game got stuck.

The being carry by bat mechanic is really cool, great music, great game !

tomisgreen 2024-04-16 10:18

Absolutely love that John Carpenteresque music, charming game

Hey, nice game. Some textures are twitching but they look great. Keep up the effort

kirass 2024-04-16 21:49

Interesting game! I like it!

two1san 2024-04-16 22:16

great soundtrack and mood! idk if it's intended, but sometimes the character get stuck in a wall when jumping towards it, i had a similar issue before and i fixed it by adding a frictionless physics material 2d to the character, that might be one way to solve the problem

kseniya 2024-04-16 23:17

a big plus for the music and mood of the game! what was missing)) I think if we could refine this game, it would be in the top! It's a pretty interesting idea, I want more

corruptor2037 2024-04-17 06:18

Couldn't progress much because of double jump suddenly not working

thekatmol 2024-04-17 15:38

Really cool concept. I like idea of killing something and then being able to use them and their abilities later on. Cute graphics and sound. Well done!

nycoisdreaming 2024-04-17 19:06

Cool idea with getting power-ups from your summons! Also great BG music!! Sadly the game crashed a couple times and I couldnt finish it.

iwant-pizza 2024-04-17 19:28

Cool game

igorekkedziorek 2024-04-17 20:32

the game crashed on me twice :(

hare-software 2024-04-26 12:45

The idea of defeating and then summoning enemies is really neat, I would absolutely consider fleshing that out if you decide to keep on working on this game. The sprites look really good too and they are very consistent. Well done!

Thanks for all of the comments! Hope you all enjoyed playing!

@kevin-ray Glad you liked the game :) The music was actually sampled from online (should have included in credits :/), but nyla did try to find and pick songs that fit the overall mood. We didn't want it to be completely silent

@kilthorne Yeah we had a lot more planned (we were planning on making it so you can channel the summons as abilities like a shaman instead of pure necromancer) but as all jams, we kinda ran out of time. Glad you liked playing what we made though.

@marrs Unfortunately, there's a bug where the game crashes if one of your summons kills a spider, so you gotta kill it yourself (which might be a bit annoying with the webs).

@fataljg Hehe I see you understood the hint. It's a bit broken though cuz we didn't finish balancing the mana system.

@tomisgreen Thanks! The music was actually sampled from online, but Nyla did try to find and pick songs to make that mood and make the game more engaging.

@arka Is it that ledge that turns silver at the beginning? I actually don't know why it's doing that but hope you enjoyed playing the game

@kirass Thanks! We did spend quite a lot of time deciding on how to make the game more unique and fun. In the end, we didn't finish all of our plans (implementing the "shaman" aspect by allowing the player to channel the abilities of the summon) but I also like how it turned out.

@two1san Thank you for the advice! I was stuck on this problem for a while and eventually just gave up after trying to do stuff with raycasting (enemies also get stuck on walls). For now, we kinda made it into a mechanic cuz it allows you to climb up walls with the help of bats. I'll definitely look more into the frictionless physics material 2d for future jams though.

@kseniya Haha thanks for the praise! We spent quite a bit of time deciding on how to make the game more unique and fun. In the end, we didn't finish all of our plans (implementing the "shaman" aspect by allowing the player to channel the abilities of the summon instead of only summoning them) but I like how it turned out. It was a nice learning experience for all of us, so maybe next time we'll be more efficient and take that top place ;)

@corruptor2037 Sorry to hear about that :( Unfortunately, the player grounded mechanics bug out a lot on sloped lands. Hopefully you were able to fly with the bats? ;) ^.^

@thekatmol Glad to hear you liked it! We spent a lot of time planning cuz we wanted to make the game unique and interesting.

@nycoisdreaming Sorry to hear about that. There is a bug where the game crashes if you kill a spider with your summon, so the only way around that is to kill the spider manually with your sword and experience its annoying webs.

@iwant-pizza Glad you liked it :)

@igorekkedziorek Sorry to hear about that. There is a bug where the game crashes if you kill a spider with your summon, so the only way around that is to kill the spider manually with your sword and experience its annoying webs.

@hare-software Thanks! We spent a bunch of time planning to make the game unique and interesting! All of us are interested in finishing the game, but school... But if we do manage to finish, I'll definitely update this page.

Pretty fun game. It did take me a bit to realize I could double jump, but it was pretty smooth after that. I did appreciate that you put in those arrows, it would have been a bit confusing to figure out where to go without them. If there's one thing I'd add, it'd be to either move the camera down a bit, or move the summon boxes to the top. The problem is that you often need to see what's below you, and the boxes are in the way.
