LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Cascade by Joe Cowman 2020-10-15T10:28:26Z

The concept is smart. It is a really cool idea for a puzzle game. I personally haven't seen anything like it. It's a little unpolished, i experienced a few crashes, and the controls/mechanics can be a bit frustrating, but the idea is really something new, I think.

Loop Heart by NeithR 2020-10-14T22:33:11Z

Nice game! The levels I've played are well-designed, from a gameplay/puzzle perspective. The art is cute, and the concept is easy to understand. Perhaps if the controls were based on keyboard buttons instead of mouse control, gameplay would be a bit more fluid. Audio was a bit repetitive, but the style was fitting.

The Looping Legend by PronomicalArtist 2020-10-15T08:14:55Z

I like the art and audio, and the concept is a new one. Interesting to try and utilize the looping movement. The style is very nice and the game seems well-polished. Well done!

A Night Around the Fire by arron-fowler 2020-10-15T06:45:37Z

Interesting mechanics, great art and simple controls. A bit more in the gameplay department might be nice for players, but the setting is intriguing. Nice!

Spaghetti Quest by peterfonts 2020-10-15T07:02:42Z

Haha, awesome! The style, art, audio and gameplay is very nice! Quite fun gameplay and a very high level of polish. Fun game!

Frozen Potency by Eugenik 2020-10-14T22:59:51Z

The style and mood is impressive! The physics-based gameplay is quite fun, although the looping movement is slightly strange. When the player is at the corners of the screen, they basically become a static target for a short while.

The global leaderboard is a nice touch.

Danger! Plants 'n' Seeds by panoramix360 2020-10-14T21:35:13Z

Graphics are nice, and the ambience is fitting. The mood is quite well-done. Well-designed UI, although the concept of the values is a bit unclear. I agree that a bit more interaction would be a nice feature. More instructions might be appreciated for the values and such, I think though.

Down the Bullet Hole by Justin Klinchuch 2020-10-15T10:35:33Z

Smooth, fun and with very nice variety. Keyboard controls are a bit clumsy, but I tried it with a gamepad and it is really smooth. The looping animation is pretty cool. Nice!

Yesterday Again by Ruling Spear 2020-10-15T06:54:31Z

Haha, I like the voiceover! Slightly rough around the edges, but a good interpretation of the theme.

Recycling loop by ElectricStalin 2020-10-14T22:39:33Z

The perspective style is quite interesting, and the idea of recycling is nice. I noticed an issue where the drone would get stuck if one lands outside the map. As someone else said, a shadow or something to indicate the drones position would be a nice addition. Nice idea, nice style!

@forgeronstudio @oliver-richmeier @frecklebars @coryru @adhesion @sli @peterfonts @mediyaz @cdunham @arron-fowler @random-storykeeper @ellladee @thegreenworm

Thank you everyone! This is our first Ludum Dare project, and I myself had fun both creating this and playing others' games. OMTTD is certainly not perfect, but it is perhaps the beginning of something. Thank you for your comments and ideas, it means a lot!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Nuclear blaze by deepnight 2021-04-30T20:54:48Z

Beautiful game! One of the best I've played yet! Polished graphics, gameplay and mechanics. Normally I am not a huge fan of platformers, but this entry is really engaging! Controls could perhaps use a bit of tweaking, although one gets used to them after a while. Perhaps mouse control for the water could be an option? Well done!

Line by morrilet 2021-04-28T01:50:56Z

Interesting idea that perhaps could be implemented in other similar styles of games as well. I wonder if a side-scrolling platformer could be developed with this concept?

Dome Romantik by Rongo Matane 2021-04-28T21:14:48Z

Beautiful colors, graphics and animations! Very satisfying and engaging gameplay too. Well done!

Deeper Into Enemy Lines! by Ganny 2021-04-30T21:03:03Z

I'm a great fan of these kinds of games! I am also interested in the period. It's a fun idea that can easily be developed with more features. I would actually be quite interested in this project, if you would decide to continue developing it! Also I noticed that there might be some sort of slight anti-aliasing that is blurring the pixel graphics a little. This may be intentional, though. Well done!

Deep Mine Ventures by PatrickRMC 2021-05-08T12:53:11Z

Nice game! A progression system that works well, and engaging platforming. An idea would perhaps be to add some slow-moving enemies that wander around the place. Well done!

Mandahlia by MicroChasm 2021-04-27T23:53:21Z

Beautiful! I loved the end sequence and the bell chimes!

Just-one-more-tile miner by zorfmorf 2021-04-28T20:07:17Z

Satisfying and interesting concept! I wonder how this game would look with a competitive multiplayer system?

Dig To The Core by pirate_pie_develops 2021-05-18T19:06:24Z

This is probably one of the most engaging jam games I've played yet! There can be improvements made, for example drone audio, or perhaps lowering the cost of some upgrades, but the game is really good at keeping the player's attention. Simple, but elegant. Well done!

Dream Catcher by Mykola 2021-04-28T20:40:25Z

Cute visuals and interesting concept! Ragdoll physics like these in a falling game are quite unusual!

I think it would be easier to control for those who are used to traditional game controls, if the movement keys were rebound to A/D and Q/E. This might just be my opinion, though. Well done!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T20:32:23Z

Very calm and nice! The game could perhaps use some other mechanic to give the player something more to do, but this is not necessary if that is not how you envision the game. I myself enjoy these kinds of more story-centric games, so this is kinda what I have been looking for in #LD48!

Into the Deep by Norris Eldridge 2021-04-28T20:51:35Z

@norris-eldridge Good ideas! I think that some obstacles perhaps, or maybe tunnels to navigate through would help make the user more engaged. Well done with the project!

DiverDeep by Cope 2021-04-28T20:55:35Z

Love the soundtrack!

Drowning in debts by Drunk Wizard 2021-04-28T01:39:26Z

Very cute art style! The overall feeling/emotion of the game is very nice!

Deep Roots by myrmyxo 2021-04-27T23:39:27Z

I like the art! The gameplay is also very innovative. It feels as if this is a good idea for a mobile puzzle game of some sort. Overall very good, even if I am pretty bad at it :P One small quality of life feature could be the ability to quickly move a root by holding down the movement key. Not a necessity in any way though. Well done!

Submarine Salvage by veno501 2021-05-18T18:30:17Z

Fun, smooth gameplay! Controls are fluid and easy to use, which makes for minimal "getting to know" the game. Well done!

Freefall by timujin 2021-05-16T17:24:39Z

I like the randomly/semi-randomly generated levels, it really makes each playthrough different! I think this could become a good mobile game with a few tweaks and upgraded graphics. One tweak i would make is decreasing fall speed/acceleration slightly to make the game easier. Well done!

CRASH Pit by E.E-Wick 2021-04-28T01:03:33Z

Certain mechanics are very satisfying, such as the combat effects. Very high level of polish! Well done!

Subminer by madelfino 2021-05-16T17:20:43Z

Simple and fun! You really did well in making gameplay satisfying. Things that perhaps could be improved are the slightly large hitboxes and maaaybe a small increase in movement speed. Good job!

Nice Fall by Nice Gear Games 2021-04-28T20:45:48Z

Nice to see some split-screen projects being made! Playing against the CPU was fun, and the game felt quite polished. Perhaps the game would benefit from lowering gravity? It can be quite hard to dodge the enemies when the character falls very fast, and makes parts of the game pretty luck-based. Overall, good fun! Well done!

fallen_down by iuunno 2021-04-28T01:45:13Z

Interesting concept, bit hard to understand at first. The graphics give off a slightly Valheim-y vibe, with a mix of pixel graphics and 3D. With some more development, I can see this turn into a quite satisfying mobile game.

AMVD&D by Ayxh 2021-04-28T20:15:06Z

Simple but smooth and fun! It's a hard game, but I think that that will make it more intriguing for many players.

Vertabyss by UltimateWalrus 2021-04-30T20:41:51Z

This is really unique! Gameplay is smooth, albeit hard, and the graphics are really cool. I also like your website!

LD49 — Unstable

Stacks by ping78 2021-10-09T16:01:23Z

Very smooth gameplay! The purpose of the timer that started when something touched the ground was unclear, though, and could use some explanation in the main menu.

Well done!

Unstable Stick by joewan 2021-10-05T12:54:27Z

Got stuck... Very unforgiving! The textures are "bouncy" and complements the gameplay well, while the gameplay itself is simple, but with surprising amounts of depth. This is a very well done, hard, minimalist game. Good job!

YuraYura! - Tidying up the tilting tower! by Cornflowerblue 2021-10-06T23:49:53Z

This is possibly the best game I've played so far in LD49! Played on a controller, and the controls are silky smooth. Love the cute art style, and the design of the gameplay is really well thought out! It is quite a hard game, though, and I couldn't complete all the levels :(

Here comes some suggestions:

The levels are, (in my opinion :p), not arranged in order of difficulty. This is not necessary of course, but if you would make this a full game later on, and choose to lock certain levels until others have been completed first, then maybe it is good to increase difficulty gradually.

Maybe add a charge-up attack? Not necessary in any way, but could be fun!

Jump height could be higher, or maybe a double-jump ability could be added.

Also a small nitpick, I noticed that some fonts didn't reeeeally match the game's aesthetic. Could just be personal opinion, though!

Really well polished and could very well be a must-play from this year's Jam, especially if you have a controller! Fits the theme very well too!

Awesome work!

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the sound design is awesome and super cute!

Instability by R3L0ad1 2021-10-05T18:02:50Z

Love the style! This game has a very clean feel, and I really like the visuals! It is unforgiving, though, and I agree with others that an instant restart option would likely be very appreciated!

Well done!

The Escape by Marin0104 2021-10-05T12:09:36Z

The driving mechanics are pretty smooth, and the graphics are cool!

Some suggestions would be to maybe make the ground collapse a bit further away from the player, as it is possible now to drive diagonally and not really need to worry about losing.

Good job!

The Escape by Marin0104 2021-10-05T12:41:23Z

@marin0104 yes, I think that it would be solved if the divisions were randomized diagonally.

Just an idea of mine: I think that this game could perhaps be a good mobile game, if acceleration was constant and steering was done by tapping the edges of the screen. Maybe one could brake by steering left and right at the same time?

Quadra by Delta Key 2021-10-06T19:20:35Z

Great game! The graphics are enjoyable, and the gameplay is very smooth. The lines clearing themselves may be a tiiiny bit too forgiving, but it does make for satisfying gameplay. Cool idea to have the player unlock more palettes!

Good job!

Picasso Bridge Disaster by TheWustache 2021-10-07T00:06:16Z

The idea behind this game is really cool! If you can solve the issue with the janky physics, this could be developed into a quite fun full puzzle game! The level design is very smart, and the gameplay is very well thought-out. Maybe the button and car levels can be combined?

Good job!

instability detected by Garett 2021-10-06T23:24:35Z

Gives off old-school vibes! Simple but nice visuals. I think that you could probably add more enemies to shoot, which would really help to make the sector feel "unstable". I like the music!

Unstable Balance by simonkmall 2021-10-05T18:21:19Z

Pretty fun to play around with! This feels like it could be used as an educational program somehow, hmm...

Pile Up Medieval by zimny11 2021-10-10T00:22:22Z

Very innovative - the concept of defending the village from the dragon is really cool!

Good job!

Stack Tower Jump by hiisileiri 2021-10-05T15:23:48Z

Interesting take on a stacking style game!

Unstable49 - Balance by runrajrun 2021-10-04T23:12:19Z

Very simple and clever! The little table really has a way of keeping you playing...

Shockwave Surfer by Tom Kun 2021-10-06T23:15:12Z

Man, it's hard... The effects are really cool, and the concept of scrambling the controls makes the game quite challenging. Innovative!

UNTetris by JaviCoder 2021-10-05T15:42:00Z

It's oddly satisfying to just pull apart the tower of bricks...

Nice game! Short, but shows good potential for more! I was afraid that the gameplay would be more punishing for the player, but instead I was met with a very relaxing atmosphere, both through graphics and audio. Good job!

A small suggestion would be to make the audio loop a bit more smoothly, as the music is very relaxing and the cut when it ends is a little jarring.

Good job!

No hands Dorifto by Gorypixels 2021-10-05T17:50:53Z

I think that your game is incompatible with displays with higher refresh rate, perhaps. The game seems to run in hyper-speed when I play it.

I have not given a rating yet, but I will gladly do so if the issue can be fixed :)

Elephants Never Tumble by zappablamma 2021-10-05T13:23:31Z

Good execution! The precise collision detection makes the game very player-friendly! Though, I do agree with @acidicdonkey above that maybe it would be easier for the player to start off with more simple shapes. But that is only if you want to make the game easier :p

Good job!

BRUTEFORCE by TotteriLudum 2021-10-04T23:37:41Z

Regarding the overheating, the screen slowly turns a stronger hue of red as the temperature rises. Although I suspect that programs such as flux or similar could interfere with the colouring.

emoceans by ty_ 2021-10-05T16:11:25Z

Very cute and charming! Love the idea, and it is well executed!

Prefabricated Highrise by belickim 2021-10-05T13:33:32Z

Nice visuals! Simple and fun gameplay that fits the theme well. Maybe the controls could be a slight bit more responsive, but I understand that it is meant to be a little hard to control.

One suggestion for a future feature would perhaps be a small icon notifying the player what block shape comes next. This could create a need for quick planning while playing.

Well done!

Equilibrium by zSharpFire 2021-10-05T15:29:43Z

Well done! A fun game with a nice idea! Managed to get 199 as my high score.

A suggestion would be to prohibit placement of blocks that overlap on others, or place a small timer between block placements. I managed to get quite a high score by basically spam-placing overlapping blocks around the platforms center of mass.

LD50 — Delay the inevitable

Shoal by Kerdelos 2022-04-06T17:12:07Z

Great design! The concept is innovative, and the smoothness of the gameplay and animations makes the game feel very polished!

I feel sorry for the fishes though :(

Nice job!

Flooded Caves by nusan 2022-04-05T23:18:03Z

Nice! Very engaging game with great replayability.

I experienced slight performance issues a bit into the game, but it didn't stop me from completing the round.

Well done!

Color Clock by mixon00 2022-04-06T23:47:50Z

Simple concept that is fun to play! I think that Color Clock would fit well as a mobile game!

Well done!

Balance The Stick by miziziziz 2022-04-06T17:05:27Z

Interesting concept!

I did notice that the stick sometimes didn't react to movement the way I expected, as if it had a tendency to recenter itself naturally.

Simple and challenging, but keeps the player wanting to achieve better scores.

Good job!
