I'm sure I can optimize the upgrades better, but I reached depth 5!

plundre 2021-04-28 23:08

pretty cool game!

hengen 2021-04-29 08:06

The game is surprisingly deep! Loved the sprite animations when you move around and it is the only game so far that i have replayed multiple times just because it was fun!

megashark 2021-04-29 18:02

Love it! Great game and such a unique concept!

lelek-hunor-kadosa 2021-04-29 18:11

Really cool concept. I wish I were better at it.

sleepqt 2021-04-29 18:12

Enjoyed the gameplay and music suits extremely well, but for some reason I could not upgrade my regiments (Web version).

megan-kozun 2021-04-29 18:13

wow this was pretty fun, and very easy to get into! great job

ganny 2021-04-29 18:39

@Sleepqt Yeah I still have some problems with the Web version and should remove it until I've fixed the issues.

my first 5 stars in this jam, it's not perfect in the art or music but the gameplay is amazing I tried multiple strategies to beat the final army but there is no way to do it. is the game really beatable? also the whole order thing is very nice it gives a new style to the turn-based games. also the upgrades I guess we can have a bit more points. and I would like to know the optimal strategy to beat the game

ganny 2021-04-29 18:56

@FadrikAlexander The strategy that works is "The space marine" focus on one regiment first then another one and just keep the other ones alive. You should have 2 regiments with double line firing, 100% accuracy and around 100 health each. Then the other regiments are more fillers and canon fodder but you need them alive for the final round as well.

This game was very fun. Very difficult to beat but not a stupid amount. The balancing was extremely well done, in my strategy I had to use at least one of each upgrade. My only suggestion is to have damage as a visible stat for each troop. This one is picky but I think the smoke particle effect could fade out a little better, perhaps check the colour over lifetime and size over lifetime options in the inspector. All in all very fun to play.

roikku 2021-04-29 19:29

Nice! Seems like something I'd occasionally make just for fun. :D

blackopsben 2021-04-29 19:49

Very well done, and very fun! It would have been nice if there was something else you could order a unit to do, such as take cover, or skirmish or something. But great job overall!

shadowhaxz0r 2021-04-29 19:52

Surprisingly fun for such simple mechanics, well done ! Graphics and sound both are great and a decent theme integration also!

vivien-fargette 2021-04-29 19:53

that was really fun, really well balanced and easy to get into. I often bought upgrades for many regiments instead of one cuz I did not unselect the other and I think it could be made clearer that you are buying for many regiments or limit to only buy for one regiment at a time (I would go toward the latter) but I am clearly nitpicking on this one: your game is great

profan 2021-04-29 19:55

Reached depth 6! This was really refreshing after having played a ton of submarine games :D

Had absolutely 0 problems figuring out how to play, things just flowed and the sound was on point..

Nice!

ganny 2021-04-29 20:08

@vivien-fargette I agree, the multiselect function was a mistake. At least for the upgrade part, it might still be good for the firing/ordering part.

ezgoodnight 2021-04-30 00:43

I feel like I shouldn't like this game because of sort of simplistic graphics and gameplay... but I kind of love it? It's just such a joy to play. I finished it and I'm really glad I did. Well done.

totteriludum 2021-04-30 21:03

I'm a great fan of these kinds of games! I am also interested in the period. It's a fun idea that can easily be developed with more features. I would actually be quite interested in this project, if you would decide to continue developing it! Also I noticed that there might be some sort of slight anti-aliasing that is blurring the pixel graphics a little. This may be intentional, though. Well done!

lifeforce 2021-04-30 21:18

Wow, really fun and deep for what simple the game is. I enjoyed it a lot!

Last level was tough lol!

Great game, had a lot of fun playing it, and actually played it twice. It reminds me a lot of North & South on Amiga. I like how you increase difficulty and the strategic aspect of the game. Animations were also very nice to look at. It was close but I made itwon.png

ganny 2021-05-01 20:51

@wdebowicz I actually played north and south a fair bit but I had forgotten the name. Thanks for reminding me of that old gem, it was indeed in the back of my head when making this game.

cjgladback 2021-05-18 00:54

I sure died. Thank you for letting me play this on stream (forever ago)! [Here's that clip](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1009307903?t=2h58m57s) if you ever want to watch through the feedback again.
