I had some trouble with the controls as well, but it's a nice game overall. Really liked the game over music! Hahaha

I had some trouble with the controls as well, but it's a nice game overall. Really liked the game over music! Hahaha
Great job for a first game :) I liked the graphics and the music, the game was very soothing overall, even while the flytrap was getting hungrier and thirstier. Adding some sound effects and making the player faster (or make the hunger and thirst decrease slower) would make this game a lot better I believe!
Hey @aridai, the HTML5 won't work for me, and I'm on Linux and using Chrome. The error I get is *WebGL context lost, please reload the page*. Also, in case you are using Godot, the exported files for Linux and MacOS work fine as far as I know. It could help more people play your game, I guess!
I agree with the other comments, the game is quite interesting and has a cool idea. However, I got a bit confused with the controls 😅 maybe adding a readme file with the controls, or adding them to the game page might help future players 🙂
Nice game PBG :) at first I thought the perspective was a bit confusing, but I got used to it quite fast, and playing was actually very fun! The endless mode is a nice addition too!
Hey @alec, thanks for playing! Great to know you found it fun despite the confusion.
Just fyi, you lose lifes by letting any pieces fall out of the center area, that is, pieces falling on the dark part on the screen removes one of your lifes. I thought that this might add a challenge to the player, by making them try to make a stable tower or something like that, without dangling pieces 🙃
Once again, thanks for playing!
@mathiouza oh noes, you found the secret haha
I mean, the lines more or less make themselves up, that's true. **However**, you might also get pieces going everywhere, and end up losing lifes that way. Well, you might end up losing lifes... balancing some things on this game was quite annoying, and the time was ending, sooooo... yeah, that ended up getting into the game, sadly.
If you have any ideas on how to fix this, feel free to send me a message 😅 also, nice score! Thanks for playing, and I'm happy to know that you enjoyed it!
Nice game, I liked the idea as well! Quite original, so far I didn't see anything like it on this jam, and it fits the theme quite well. The levels are well thought out too.
Besides the lack of music and sound effects, one issue I found is that you can also drag the beam itself, as well as the goal... however this actually helped me on the harder stages hahaha
Good job on your first game jam Luke! I liked the idea, having to balance the risk of mining for longer times to get better loot, and also the possibility of bailing out of the mine to get upgrades, formed a nice gameplay loop, kudos to that. Personally, I found the controls a bit too slippery, and bailing out is kinda slow (still, those things add to the challenge I suppose).
Really creative!!! Great job on this one, kudos to everyone involved 🙂 The voice acting added a lot of personality to the game too. Easy five stars on the theme for me, I really mean it!
Hello fellow godot user, nice game 🙂
Just a minor comment, I hope you don't mind: for me, all the audio was coming from the left earbud of my headphone. I think you used the AudioStreamPlayer2D on Godot for playing those sounds... that isn't a big deal, but the AudioStreamPlayer2D plays it audio according to its position. This creates a nice effect of course, but in this case only my left ear had audio 😅
This can be fixed by using the AudioStreamPlayer node instead. Once again, I hope you don't mind this feedback!
I managed to finish the game! It is quite short but the idea is quite interesting, as some other people already said. Good job overall, since this is your first game jam!
Some feedback, I hope you don't mind: First, the camera is tooooooooooooo close to the player 😅 also, adding some coyote time to the controls would make the controls a lot more enjoyable. Making the character slower but adding a run button (that maybe depletes the battery faster too) would be nice too 👍
Hey Dots, I tried opening the link to the game but I think its page isn't public 😅

Got to the ending! I liked the level design, it fits well with the mechanic of turning into a bat. I think there's some more potential in the idea, maybe a sequel would be nice. Also, adding a timer to the game, in order to challenge players to speedrun, would be a nice addition IMO as well!
Wow, this is really, really well made. Very fun, despite I finding it difficult hahaha Congratulations!
I think this is the best compo game I've seen so far this year. It's awesome, congratulations!
Awesome game, quite fun and well made! I really enjoyed it (despite not being able to last long on the demonic difficulty)
The controls take some time getting used to, I think it would have been helpful to have an illustration indicating which keys lead to which pose.
And a question: is blinking nonstop something that is being punished in some way? I ended up mashing the space bar to make the rest of the game a bit easier, and it seemed like a bit of a cheese. Not that it made the game too easy however 🙂
Great TIC-80 game, played it until the end. The box stacking stuff ended up being quite interesting. Good job!
Managed to get everyone to love me 🙂 I thought that someone might make a game referencing Kiki's Delivery Service, but didn't expect Kiki to be a 32 old sucessful business woman hahaha
Nice game, good job!
Hey, nice game! At first I didn't understood that I could propel myself with the newspapers, but soon enought I figured it out. Also, I didn't knew I could jump, but found it out soon enough as well! I enjoyed the gameplay , it is well polished and enjoyable, and I found no bugs. The music is a bit repetitive, but it's really nice that the game allows you to speedrun it, offering multiple paths and shortcuts.
After two playthroughs I got a 4:2:75 🙂

Great art style and music, it seems a lot of care went into making this game. The take on the theme is good too! Good job, I hope you guys do well 🙂
Interesting idea and take on the theme, and nicely executed as well. It's kinda frustrating, but I also found it fun to make a mistake and getting completely out of the pace I was in! Taking turns playing with friends could be really fun because of this. In case an update is made, a colorblind mode would be a nice addition.
Anyway, if it wasn't clear, I had fun playing this entry, and I hope you people make more games in the future 🙂
The idea is good: trying to speedrun your way through the level with the movement and actions being turn based works well. However, having only one life makes the game kinda unfair, since sometimes the enemies can ambush you in unexpected ways and you die without having a reasonable chance to escape or react. Also, the atmosphere/mood is really nice
Thanks @blobo! Your feedback is very welcome
Thank you @SocialRobot :) well, most of the time I spent on polishing these stuff, so even if they turned out nice, I believe I could have made the gameplay more interesting instead. Welp, learning from the mistakes, right?
Hey @conk , thanks a lot! I guess the gun not working might be because of one of the modifiers, like "Pirate activity detected" or "Spintronic circuits jammed", but it might be a bug as well. About the gameplay, I think it became it bit boring as well, since there is not a clear objective.
I'm considering adding some more stuff and polishing a bit more this game, since it's my first Ludum Dare and it is turning out a lot better than expected. Again, thanks for the feedback!
Thanks @Mektidas , glad you liked the game! I think I'll make the travelling more interesting, as well the trading mechanics. Also, I hope as well to be on the next LD haha
Thanks @aditya-shukla , your feedback is very welcome! Horror games are not really my thing, but yours seem so interesting that I think I'll give it a try haha
Thanks again!
Thanks for the feedback @igorsgames and @lost-dutchman-software! It is very appreciated. Also, glad you guys liked it!
I understand your point @igorsgames: since shooting consumes potatoes, the player could simply choose to not shoot at all. My idea was as @lost-dutchman-software said: the player should make a choice between attacking enemies or making more money. However, since the game is not very balanced (making money is kinda easy if you keep buying low and selling high), it ends up being not so interesting sometimes.
I looking foward to updating this game in the future, taking all these feedback in account. Maybe adding more ships with different attributes for the player to choose, like more cargo space or higher damage. Also more randomized paths and planets, and possibly bigger pirate spaceships battle, possibility of siding with a sindicate or a faction, et cetera. Hopefully the modifications will make the game more interesting!
Thanks for commenting @impiaaa!
Yes, I agree with you, and you did understand my intent. If I recall correctly, the game gets harder the longer with keep trading, but the difficulty increase isn't really noticeable I guess. Anyway, in a possible future update I believe I'll add more features to make the trading and shmup more interesting.
Again, thanks for the feedback!
Damn, that's a big bug @ecmjohnson haha thanks for reporting, I'll surely look into it so that future endeavors will not be forgotten. Also, thanks for the feedback!
Thanks @fashionbatman , for the comment! The ui took a lot of the time, so it's great to know it was good.
Thanks for the comments @loudrasiel and @kwisarts, really appreciated!
@kwisarts , my idea was that the player should only shoot in emergency situations in order to not get damaged, but I also thought that a shooter without a focus on shooting would get strange, like you said... I think that destroying enemy pirates rewarded money, but not sure now  anyway, thanks for the feedback, it means a lot for me.
Thanks for the feedbacks, @invixel and @aerosavior. Glad you liked! I'll definetly look into these bugs later, really a shame they are so game breaking.
Also, thanks for the tip @invixel, I welcome every piece of advice so that my games can get better faster  I'm sure I'll be more attentious towards the fun factor... it's kind of common sense, when you stop to think about it haha
Hello @schine, I tried using Wine to run your game (I use Linux) and when I press Space nothing happens. Can you tell me if the executable is working fine for you?
