The art's lovely, the animations are great, and the music is great - so it's not surprising to see that most of the team are artists and musicians. There are some mild issues with the game's design, though: the enemies are so pathetic that you can essentially run circles around the enemies ad infinitum, and you essentially game-over yourself if you run out of ammo. Overall, an impressive achievement for something done in a measly three days!

shawn-beck 2023-05-02 01:30

Love the intermission scene! Nicely done

macbarette 2023-05-02 01:39

what a incredible game made in 3 days, the graphics and music are really good it's so cool that you put cutscenes, i had a tiny issue when the game first restart for the first time the music stop i had to refresh it but maybe it's the itch.io player, anyway it was veru cool

arikan 2023-05-02 08:06

What a game!, I like the artstyle of this game especially the animation and cutscenes. with a time limit of 3 days but can finish it very well. Well done!

3lstmsinatrenchcoat 2023-05-02 09:10

Wow, this is probably my favourite pixel art of the jam so far. The gameplay was reasonably fun, not to innovative, but reasonably well-balanced and executed well. And the music is also top-tier. Extremely solid all-around.

hermanlejter 2023-05-02 16:11

Fun idea! Found the gameplay to be a little slow; pumping up the speed of the character and projectiles would give it a much more intense feel.

unclear-physicist 2023-05-02 17:59

Gorgeous art and audio, the cutscenes add a lot of soul to the game (pun not intended). If I had to nitpick I'd say the combat is a tad on the slow side for my liking but it gets trickier as the game goes on so it's not really an issue. Great job!

zeit 2023-05-02 19:54

The music and art are both excellent, and the game has a good style and balance. However, it may need to show more of the delivery aspect, and what I play seems a game where monsters attack you, like Brotato. However, I would say it's still amazing that you guys finish this complete game in 3 days, nj!

xbcw 2023-05-02 23:29

Great job here. The graphics were incredible and the sound fit nicely. I found the game quite challenging.

ixil-miniussi 2023-05-03 08:34

Really nice shooter there, loved the story sequences and little animations in between rounds, same for the music! Reminded me of the old flash game era of games.

I will say a small thing I would maybe have changed would be the colors for the soul, I legit avoided them on the first round thinking they would hurt me, same for letting me skip so early the transition sequences, on my first playthrough I assumed it was simply waiting for me to click and didn't notice until later that I was getting introduced to new weapons. Regardless like I said, I did more than one playthrough, lots of replayability there. Nice and sweet playtime on its own with plenty to get distracted by in between! you can definitely notice the manpower in the art department!

jimmymcginger 2023-05-03 13:27

The fact that you guys got these crazy cutscenes in for a gamejam blows my mind! Graphics and UI were a highlight. Music was great. Gameplay was fun enough.. sort of like a slower paced Smash TV or something which I enjoyed. Was the game supposed to end on the "you've been hitting the gym" line, because it just stopped there and wouldn't move on at that point?

maxflav 2023-05-03 20:47

This is great stuff. The cutscenes are incredible, and the game feel is top notch! I'm ashamed to admit that I spent a little too much time avoiding the flames instead of collecting them. I thought they would hurt me. Anyway, congrats on this fantastic submission! 😈

lenan 2023-05-03 23:06

Nice game, short but it was very well made

hcs-hades 2023-05-03 23:06

So much polish holy moly!! As the artist for our little project I was drooling at the finish screen boss art sooo good!

I actually also didnt realize there was more weapons till reading the comments, I think because it says click to continue in the cutscenes I missed the introductions.

Overall cool game :)

delta-key 2023-05-03 23:32

groundwater-studio 2023-05-03 23:41

crazy level of visual quality here, love the art direction a lot. I wasn't super grokked by the gameplay, but the passing similarity to devil daggers and the top notch presentation kept me playing for a good chunk of time

meepy 2023-05-04 03:03

your team really did a wicked job with this game! what the heck?! the guys in charge of the art must've sold their souls to a shinigami to be able to draw all that in just three days 0_0

i liked the interpretation of the theme, too. writing was nice and the intro/ending scenes were well done!

i wish the enemy patterns were a bit more complex/difficult, the difficulty scaling feels kind of slow. also, i'm not sure if i missed the tutorial or something, but it wasn't too clear to me that you could collect those fireballs on the floor or that you could even select a different weapon until i read through the comments.

bartalomew 2023-05-04 11:37

huge fan of pixel art, and what you delivered here (pun unintended) is gorgeous. especially that opening shot of the building itself, woow. tbf the mass of demons were a bit overwhelming for me, but I enjoyed the the overall experience. well done, feels like you had fun in this jam

benskca 2023-05-04 13:06

Absolutely gorgeous game, with great music and sound effects. Everything ties in together really well to give a super polished end result. The feel of the shooting reminded me a lot of gungeon, which is definitely not a bad thing, and there's great variety in enemies for a jam game here too. My only complaint is that the game could've done with some more in-game tutorialization, but it didn't stop me from having fun

spacespytv 2023-05-04 13:09

Incredible game, it's clear you rocked with the huge team, I think my main gripe is that the enemy destroy animation isn't too different from the spawning animation, meaning it can be a little unclear sometimes, apart from that it was all really cool, pixel art was amazing!

quoc 2023-05-04 13:14

Woah really cool game you made! The pixel art is really awesome, enjoyed it!!

a-huua 2023-05-04 16:39

Man, the artstyle and animations are so good in this game. The music and sound effects really amped up the experience too!

grizwhirl 2023-05-04 16:40

Probably the most impressive looking game I've seen yet this jam. Well done that was cool

gamedocs 2023-05-04 18:13

Amazing art and good music! The game really fun and I really like it! :) Great work!

mallok-studio 2023-05-04 18:39

Like everyone said before, the game is amazing, the music and graphics are great. But I think that the delivery side is a bit left out, only the story brings up the theme of delivery which is a bit of a shame.

But other than that, it's probably one of the best games of this jam.

alanxoc3 2023-05-05 05:25

Art style and story were really cool!

vilius 2023-05-05 07:33

Awesome! Well done!

sebhulhu 2023-05-05 07:40

Art style and humor are top notch :D Would be cool to see some power-ups after killinx X amount of enemies to have a little bit more chaos on screen :-)

yopin 2023-05-05 09:52

This is probably the best game i played so far. The art style is really nice, the sound effects are pleasant, and the humor of it is hillarious.

furtive-pygmy 2023-05-05 11:09

What an awesome entry! The art and music are amazing. Gameplay is nice and tight, as well as having cutscenes. Great entry and good luck team!

fupi 2023-05-05 16:09

Extremely polished graphics and banging music! The weapons felt really good to use and each of them felt very unique. Invisible demons were a bit too cheap, felt like every time I died it was due to one of them. Though that just made me more careful in later runs.

Strangely, I had a lot of problems during my second playthrough: Don't know how to reload my gun, I think it happens automatically, but in my second playthrough, I got to a point in the first round that no matter now much I clicked, my weapon would never reload. Music also never played. Then, when I got to the second round, all enemies were immortal, they never took any hits and just kept spawning. It happened in all other rounds too until the end, where at least I got the good ending from the souls I'd collected in the first round. So that was weird.

Regardless, the game was super fun, I enjoyed the different endings you can get from the boss and felt like the difficulty scaled well. The music, animation and overall polish are this game's strongest aspects. Congrats to the team!!

j0ye 2023-05-05 18:30

Man, those are some punchy sounds. And the guns add the right amount of strategy. I would love to see this being expanded to a finished game.

firebelley 2023-05-05 21:43

Awesome game overall! Looks and sounds really good. I will echo what some others have said here, which is that the art and sound is so high quality but the visual effects and game feel was somewhat lacking comparatively. I think this game would be perfect will just a little more attention given to those areas.

Excellent game overall though, very impressive entry. I had a lot of fun playing!

skitefall 2023-05-06 19:02

Amazing pixel art, very eye pleasing and smooth. The dead animation is neat. I think I would love to have a control explanation at the beginning.

gigichef 2023-05-06 23:06

Amazing work. It's straight forward matching with superb visuals, sound, polish details. Great demonstration of all your talents, you've made a great team. I hope you've had fun making it

kevin-scroggins 2023-05-07 01:45

This is a fantastic game with a lot of polish, awesome job! Art and animations are all very well done. I appreciated some of the little details, like the music & sound volume sliders, and pausing when tabbed out.

A few suggestions / comments: - Would be nice if there was a cursor with a spinner progress indicator or something to show weapon re-load progress, it isn't always immediately obvious when you can or can't shoot. - Enemies all look very similar and have relatively simple AI.. would be nice if there were maybe some slightly different colours to differentiate them at a glance, and maybe some randomized behavioural AI to keep things more interesting than purely having everything follow you. - Play area feels awful small, might be nice to have a slightly larger area to explore with a camera to follow the player. - As others have commented, it's super not obvious when you pick up a new weapon.. the cutscene does show it, but it's not particularly explicit. - All the weapons generally sound the same. - Spamming left click on the respawn animation screen re-plays the animation multiple times. - Too hard to pick up souls when there are a lot of enemies on scree.. would be nice if there was a vacuum ability or overall increased pickup radius.

Had fun with this one overall, great stuff!

kitira 2023-05-08 17:38

Wow, great and very polished game! Very impressive pixel art, the cutscenes are soooo great, the music is really cool, and the story is funny. I really enjoyed playing it. Great game!

francis 2023-05-08 18:11

Things I liked: - This game was super slick. Y'all nailed it! It looks super polished and very well done :) - One shot, one kill on most enemies, and the gunplay overall felt super great to play. - Loved the intro cutscene :) - I liked the enemy that went invisible periodically, it was interesting to need to track it.

Things that could've been better: - Animation or sound cue for reloading. I couldn't tell when that was done. - I thought the red fiery stuff was something 'bad' since it was the same color as the enemies. Later on, I found it difficult to pick them up when there's a ton of enemies. - I had no idea that after dying, there was a cutscene. I saw the "Click to Continue!" flashing and I just clicked right away because I thought it was just a looping animation. This greatly confused me, because I thought the entire game was just the same level over and over again. I killed myself a few times to see if anything changed, and then the game ended. - After reading the comments, I went back, and things make a lot more sense now. However, I don't see any difference between the different weapons at all. Maybe you guys ran out of time to implement them? That would've made the game a lot more fun. - I ran out of ammo the first round and I wasn't sure what to do anymore, so I killed myself. Maybe that could be made more clear.

bashem 2023-05-09 06:11

This game is so addicting. I came to thank you for your kind comment (thanks!) and to leave one for you, and I've already been playing for like an hour now. Please carry on with the development, I'd definitely pay for an extended version. Also having a shared highscore system would certainly make people stick even more to the game: we used globalstats.io for ours. Anyway, I probably found a bug: at one point the enemies just stopped dying no matter how much i kept shooting at them. It only happened once tho. Keep up the great work!

pedrohpf 2023-05-09 17:19

Wow what an incredibly polished game, you guys did a great job!

I don't know if I played correctly but I only had a gun and the game started getting really hard. But had fun still and loved the art and in between animations XD

yumykon 2023-05-10 19:42

@netrunner-nobody Thank you!! We've also noticed that and have been brainstorming different mechanics for each enemy to provide a more dynamic challenge, and maybe the initial weapon having infinite bullets~ These are some possibilities that we can work on in the future~

@hermanlejter I'm glad you enjoyed the game! We were also considering adding a dodge mechanic to further intensify the feel! We appreciate your feedback as it helps us reflect on improvements!

@benskca @skitefall @meepy @hcs-hades I'm very happy that you liked the art, our team is very grateful for the words <3 We totally agree that the lack of a tutorial makes the mechanics less clear, it's definitely something important to keep in mind to implement!

@ixil-miniussi @maxflav I'm really glad you liked the game! I completely agree with you, it was my mistake not to think more about the color logic in that part. I believe using a bluish or purplish color to create contrast would be a good idea, as the color red is usually associated with danger.

@jimmymcginger Thank you very much, our art team is very flattered <3 And we are very happy that you enjoyed the game! Unfortunately, that was not how the game was supposed to end. I think it's a specific bug because I tested it a few times and couldn't replicate it :( I'm sorry you had this issue!

@spacespytv Thank you very much! I confess that I hadn't thought about that and I really appreciate you pointing it out, you are absolutely right, it can confuse the player, especially when there are many enemies on the screen. It is definitely something that I will pay close attention to when improving the game!

@sebhulhu Thank you very much!! I agree with you, that would be a really cool implementation to add! I'll make a note of it here, thank you for the suggestion!

@fupi - Oie!

@j0ye Thank you for playing our game! I must confess that we currently have some important projects underway, but I had a lot of fun working on this game, so who knows, maybe a finished game will come out in the future 👀

yumykon 2023-05-10 19:42

@kevin-scroggins @francis I'm glad you enjoyed playing our game and for noticing those details! I really appreciate your effort in pointing out all the suggestions and comments, as they are very important for us to keep in mind and apply in future improvements of the game, as well as taking them as constructive criticism to enhance our overall experience. Thank you very much!

@bashem I'm thrilled with your kind comment! I think the suggestion of the highscore system is a great idea, and it would be wonderful to implement it in our game to further motivate players in their runs, along with all the other suggestions and feedback we have received. I'm sorry to hear that you encountered that bug, but I'm glad it was only a one-time occurrence. Our QA member and other players have also reported the bug, and it's definitely noted! Thank you again for the feedback. Currently, we have some important projects in progress, but we had a lot of fun working on this game, so who knows, maybe there will be an extended and finalized version of the game in the future!

@pedrohpf I'm glad to hear that you had fun playing the game! You are right, and I must confess that, as other players have pointed out and we also realized afterwards, there was a lack of a tutorial phase to introduce the game mechanics. Additionally, each time you die, you are rewarded with a different weapon, which is shown in the cutscene after being defeated.

@shawn-beck @arikan @3lstmsinatrenchcoat @macbarette @unclear-physicist @zeit @xbcw @lenan @groundwater-studio @bartalomew @quoc @a-huua @grizwhirl @gamedocs @mallok-studio @alanxoc @vilius @yopin @furtive-pygmy @firebelley @gigichef @kitira Thank you so much for playing, we appreciate the feedback!╰(*´︶`*)╯♡

weirdbitgames 2023-05-12 20:48

I'm getting big Binding of Isaac vibes here (and that's a good thing!), the controls feel comfortable and gameplay is simle to understand. Lovely music by the way and the sound effects are excellent too! Overall, well done!

hitchh1k3r 2023-05-13 19:32

I managed to get a score of 102, but once there were so many invisible demons it became too hard to not run into someone... This game was very neat. On my first playthrough I was trying to avoid the demon essence (thinking it was a bad thing -- I did not realize it was a delayed drop), and I was very confused when I died and the game did not reset, eventually I understood it though. The second time through I ran out of ammo, and wasn't sure what to do, so I just avoided the demons for a while and made the game harder on myself... I'm not sure having limited ammo added anything to the game. The art, audio, and gameplay where all very very well done.

nullmike 2023-05-14 17:13

Ooooh what a nice game. It's really fun. I wish maybe the deaths would be a bit more apologetic, like having three lives or something, but other than that it's a supreme aesthetic experience. Everything is just so COOL. It's like Doom + Enter The Gungeon. The soundtrack, the visuals, the overall vibe are amazing. Big props for using the half life 1 gun sounds for shooting the pistol hahaa. One other thing, I think the cutscene where you get a new weapon should be unskippable, as I actually skipped through those for the first few times accidentally, and didn't know I had new weapons. But yeah, amazing job!

hani 2023-05-15 21:20

I love this game and this style! I wish the gameplay were a tad faster but that's just me. The transitional animations were really cool along with the overall style and mood. Well done!

jkyd 2023-05-16 04:09

Very cool! Love the intro stills, the vibes are very cohesive across the board and the juice is great :)
