LD53 — Delivery

Don't get fired! by Zettelkasten 2023-05-07T21:43:10Z

Hmm it doesn't look like the web version on the jam page loads due to an 'unsecure operation'. Tried the version on your website though! This is a fun little gem, awesome work! Might be nice if it was a little easier to skip the intro a bit quicker when re-trying. Was a little bit disappointed that the boss could target you through walls, but pretty fun otherwise!

Broomstick Blitz by nsadie 2023-05-07T19:33:35Z

This is a wonderful little game! I liked the theme and artstyle, and the use of sounds/music was nice as well. Had to fullscreen the game though because the text was too tiny otherwise. Some of the sprites looked a bit pixelated, but it really reminded me of Don't Starve. Would be nice to see the speed boost a bit more controllable, like by holding shift or something, or at least being a bit less jarring, it makes the player awful hard to control at times! Might also want to try disabling the delivery destination indicator until the cargo has all the required gems, but no big deal. Nice work!

Zeba's Broke!!!! by slimefriend 2023-05-07T18:50:55Z

Ha, this is definitely a fun little chill game, awesome work! Good use of sounds / music, flow was nice, appreciated the text bits when you hit seagulls haha. Thanks for sharing!

Toad Pizza Express by Nazorus 2023-05-07T19:48:26Z

Haha this is a pretty fun little jam game! Nice work putting this together. Would have been a lot better if the keyboard controls weren't so awkward, should have considered using Q/E instead of C/V.

Horror Delivery by GameDevTraum 2023-05-07T05:35:45Z

Interesting concept! Nice little jam game! Seemed to be a little bit of wonkiness with the camera not being able to turn freely on the horziontal axis though, but it wasn't a big deal.

F. Ragile by Akromaly 2023-05-07T21:32:30Z

This is super simple, fun, and polished! Nice work!

Devil's Corp by Neobit 2023-05-07T01:45:46Z

This is a fantastic game with a lot of polish, awesome job! Art and animations are all very well done. I appreciated some of the little details, like the music & sound volume sliders, and pausing when tabbed out.

A few suggestions / comments: - Would be nice if there was a cursor with a spinner progress indicator or something to show weapon re-load progress, it isn't always immediately obvious when you can or can't shoot. - Enemies all look very similar and have relatively simple AI.. would be nice if there were maybe some slightly different colours to differentiate them at a glance, and maybe some randomized behavioural AI to keep things more interesting than purely having everything follow you. - Play area feels awful small, might be nice to have a slightly larger area to explore with a camera to follow the player. - As others have commented, it's super not obvious when you pick up a new weapon.. the cutscene does show it, but it's not particularly explicit. - All the weapons generally sound the same. - Spamming left click on the respawn animation screen re-plays the animation multiple times. - Too hard to pick up souls when there are a lot of enemies on scree.. would be nice if there was a vacuum ability or overall increased pickup radius.

Had fun with this one overall, great stuff!

Dungeon messenger by Gastar 2023-05-07T05:27:14Z

Not a bad little game, awesome work! Thank you for sharing.

Some feedback: - No hit indicator, was not obvious when I was actually being attacked. - Could do with some more health pickups. - Text on the player upgrades was really confusing. - Looks like the cursor icon is corrupted? - Would be nice to have the game title on the main screen. - Might want to disable the exit button for the web version. - Could be a little more interesting with some more randomization in the tile pieces.. maybe a map editor like Tiled might be helpful!

Blockade Runner by darzu 2023-05-07T21:44:53Z

Shows an error message even when loading on Chrome 109. :( Maybe it's a Windows 7 thing.

Deliver Inc. | A Delivery Simulator by innocuousuk 2023-05-07T17:37:15Z

Hmm, this looks great, but I'm not even able to open the settings to fix the resolution on the web version. :/

De-livery by Sylf 2023-05-07T06:01:35Z

This is an excellent jam game! Love the twist on the theme. Audio work was good, but a bit repetitive at times, some randomization might help. Wasn't immediately obvious that I needed to drag the cells.. no way to cancel a drag either, and often the cells end up elsewhere. Overall the game was extremely difficult, farthest I could get was 50 years. Might be nice if the cell limits were reduced a bit or something. Noticed a bit of lag when the game ended as well, but no big deal. Awesome work!

Slalom Pizza Delivery Service by SpeakWithPlants 2023-05-07T05:18:07Z

This is fantastic! Really awesome job on this. I appreciate the light colour theme, art style, player movement, and the detail on the snow trail. Did notice a lot of jerkiness with the UI.. I ran into a similar issue with my game, and it turned out that I was rendering player and updating the camera to follow the player in the wrong order.. only occurred at specific frame rates so I didn't see it early on.. maybe something to take a look at! Thanks for putting this fun little gem together.

Irresponsible deliveries by Rezioz 2023-05-07T21:24:01Z

This is definitely a derpy bit of fun! Would be nice if the vehicle turning wasn't so punishing, it makes maneuvering a lot of the tight areas more of a frustrating chore than anything. Still great overall though, awesome work.

Impeachment by Kler 2023-05-07T20:02:09Z

This is a fun little gem, nice work! Would be nice if there was maybe an explicit control to pick up the crown and some indicators when you're carrying it or not. I kept finding myself to try and press space to jump, as well. I think overall the game really could have benefited a lot from some sound effects. Kind of weird that the crown can also just stick to the side, but no big deal. Awesome job!

Before It Gets Cold by Cloverfall 2023-05-07T05:41:30Z

Neat little jam game! Would be nice to have some sounds. Found it a little frustrating trying to judge when it was safe to change lanes.. would be better if the progress indicator was at the top of the screen I think.. found it a bit obstructive at the bottom. Thanks for sharing!

Duke Burger by x16 2023-05-04T02:59:31Z

Thanks for all the awesome feedback! Really glad to hear everyone is enjoying the game. @jamie-whitmarsh There was a little bug in version 1.0.6 that broke item pickups, sorry about that! It will be fixed in 1.0.7. You need to carry the burger to the end of the level in order to unlock the door!

Duke Burger by x16 2023-05-07T01:51:46Z

Thanks a lot for the awesome review, @antti-haavikko !! Was my first time working with libGDX and Box2D so I was learning a lot as I went, haha.

I had a pretty annoying time trying to fine tune the player physics because I was always fighting the physics engine. That's why some of the movement is a bit derpy. I'm sure I could get it just right if I poked it a bit more, haha.

The intro animation GIF decoder was unfortunately bugged, but we'll be pushing an update with some bug fixes that addresses that!

I'm impressed you did that jump on the first level, there was nothing up there because you're not supposed to be able to reach it! I added some goodies up there, since it is indeed possible, apparently!

I've already taken your feedback into consideration and made numerous improvements that will be available in the next release. Thanks a bunch!

Duke Burger by x16 2023-05-07T01:52:26Z

Thanks @yuriscat ! Super glad you enjoyed it, we definitely had a blast putting it together!

Five Nights at Papa's by Multipixels 2023-05-07T04:59:32Z

Fun little game, nice work! Would be interested to see where this might go with a bit more time.

Some feedback: - Game doesn't seem to load on the Ludum Dare page. - Easy to get stuck between houses. - Could use some more sound effects! - Nice details with the upgrade system! - Would be nice to have a day / night progress indicator. - Things could maybe be scaled up a bit, it's really hard to tell at a glance what direction the vehicle is facing. - Would be nice if ammo was automatically re-filled for when the next night cycle starts. - Seemed to have some trouble shooting zombies at times, like the bullets weren't colliding when they're off screen? Not sure. - Zombies are generally just annoying and not really challenging.

Dead-End Delivery by RobotChimp 2023-05-07T17:55:17Z

Wow!!! This is honestly the best most polished and innovative game I've come across yet, fantastic work! I love how hectic and wild everything is, you almost want to hate the camera effects for being so disruptive, but at the same time it really makes it that much more interesting and challenging. I really appreciate the awesome artwork, attention to detail, and extra effort put into things like the intro and failure screens. Took me a few tries to kind of get a feel for how to move, but I was always getting stuck on everything and I loved it, hahaha. Really great soundwork, too! I hope you get more votes, because you definitely deserve them. I couldn't help but laugh at how derpy the enemy AI is. The timer did seem extremely punishing though, I barely had enough time to complete deliveries, let alone gas up.. I think with a bit more fine tuning in that regard, this could be a real gem! Congrats on an awesome game.

Crabload of Shells by mitur 2023-05-07T17:45:46Z

Excellent game, really short, cute, fun, and to the point - love it! Awesome work! It would be nice if there is an opportunity for health pickups, and if the seagulls maybe did something else occasionally other than fly around. Seemed a bit abrupt when the game stopped after dying, might feel a little better if it kept animating in the background. :) Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing what you put together next time. Congrats on your first jam!

Some Postman by jakelazaroff 2023-05-07T17:34:54Z

Hmm, the web version doesn't seem to be working in Firefox 112.0.2, there's an insecure operation DOMException that's raised when you try to load it. Seeing some other projects with this issue, too. Might be helpful to try using itch.io and posting a link to it there? LD does some weird stuff that results in CORS requests that don't work.

Delivery of the king by KingZero 2023-05-07T03:02:21Z

Hmm, I think there is definitely some potential with this one, but I didn't find it particularly intuitive to play.

Some feedback: - Maybe make the keycard message a little more visible? It was not obvious that I needed a key. - Controls are a little awkward, might be a bit better to have the player move and turn rather than there being a delay? - Some spelling mistakes; always handy to put in-game text through a spellchecker first.

A good attempt though! Look forward to seeing what you create in the future.

DETOUR by Nozomu57 2023-05-07T06:18:52Z

Very nifty little jam game! Had fun with this one. I actually managed to beat level 12 without looping the wire around any boxes at all, haha. Love the covert art too, nice work!

Fruit Flinger by FruitFlinger 2023-05-07T02:38:47Z

This is a nice little game, I love the artwork!

Some feedback: - Would be nice if you could drop fruit, I found myself sometimes either grabbing the wrong one or wanting to change colours but not being able to on the spot. - Player movement is way too slow.. perhaps scaling everything up a little bit might help? - Music loop is short and becomes quite annoying, would have been better with a longer track or no music at all I think. - You win text isn't dismissed and is kind of annoying if you want to play for longer. - Wording is a bit inconsistent and confusing with how score/fruit/hearts are sort of used interchangeably.

Overall great job though!
