LD53 — Delivery

Air Delivery by pianoman373 2023-05-02T12:19:52Z

suuuuper cool! Loved the level design, going back to areas I couldn't get to initially felt really satisfying and I never really got lost. The exploration was great, the dialogs were adorable, the movement was robust, the artstyle worked really well along with the screen ratio. Only suggestion I'd make maybe would be to up the contrast between the background and foreground, and maybe lower the saturation to fit with retro games aesthetic (but that's really up to you honestly). Definitely one of my favorite submissions! Inspired me to make a story game next year as well with the same type of progression elements

shape shipper by torcado 2023-05-02T20:38:45Z

lots of tiny stuff to make it satisfying right there. Appreciate the simple movement, it felt really intuitive and I never really had a "I didn't mean to place it here" moment. Maybe some way of seeing the rotation and type of shape at the very bottom of the pile could've helped but even then it added a memory aspect to it all. Good little game

The Doldrums of Delivery by Flaterectomy 2023-05-02T00:43:09Z

Damn I did not know about Twine actually pretty cool tool to stand out during a game jam. Unfortunately it's 2:40am here so I couldn't do more than 3 jobs. Feels like the kind of game where you sit down with a piece of paper and start taking notes and drawing maps. I might check it out again tomorrow honestly. Good music and happy birthday to your dad :)

Cavrncrate by JumboDS64 2023-05-02T00:20:32Z

like the sprites and the kicking mechanic itself. But unfortunately I get stuck at level 2 ^^. I can't tell if I'm just stupid and missing the point of the puzzle but I can't jump over the box once it gets here and I feel like I need to.

EDIT: NVM I GET IT NOW lol

EDIT: Okay so now that I got to actually play it. Loved the puzzles especially the last 2.

The platforming felt a bit unresponsive at times tho especially since you had to make it work with slopes which isn't the easiest, but maybe less drag and a smaller hitbox could've helped I'm not sure.

Bundle Beeline by Squidly 2023-05-03T08:41:51Z

I see the art and think "oh shit this one looks good", I see the credits and think "damn this is gonna be one of those great ones", I see the loading transition and think "here we go" then the intro music is awesome aaaaaand black screen, doesn't work, I still get music so I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm on linux so I can't download unfortunately, won't rate it obviously but I'd love to know if the html5 version ever gets fixed (unless it's only me) so I can play it

Bundle Beeline by Squidly 2023-05-03T09:01:01Z

@squidly "WebGL warning: texImage: Requested size at this level is unsupported." is all I see

Ravenhaul by Rongo Matane 2023-05-02T22:36:29Z

woooow you can definitely tell a big team worked on this and even then it's impressive. So many beautiful details, like the beak of the house opening up, which would normally completely overkill for a gamejam, same for the settings menu, the animations, the various birds and characters. The music is beautiful it's also rare to have something good enough to warrant an OST download link. Congratulations, super nice game! Really relaxing although maybe a bit too relaxing gameloop, but if this team has made other games before I wouldn't be surprised and would love to know where to find them.

Ravenhaul by Rongo Matane 2023-05-02T23:19:46Z

@cameron-paxton will check it out! and congrats again for the music, some rob scallon vibes to it.

Package Panik by Gerolmed 2023-05-02T01:36:34Z

Super impressed by the attention to detail. Not only is the concept itself technically impressive you still had time to polish it all. One of the rare submissions where the audio is pleasant, same for the graphics and navigation. I'm particularly impressed by all the sprites, from the upgradable buildings to the moving patterns in the background. Super pleasant

AstroFreight by Remus 2023-05-02T13:14:05Z

Good little game, starting the game with "respawn" was a bit counter intuitive, I also don't think the warning icons for the obstacles helped much besides confusing me at first (they're the same color as the arrow). Btw which version of Godot are you using?? I tried exporting mine for HTML5 but it just doesn't seem to be a thing with Godot 4 anymore and online seemed to suggest that that was just how it was.

Postal Town by FreezedIce 2023-05-02T23:15:17Z

suuuper cute idea with the low depth of field right there, very satisfying to get those lines working as well. The balance was neat too which is hard to do in only two days for that kind of game. Not too slow, not too hard or easy. Good job

God's plan by Raoph 2023-05-02T02:13:40Z

I do wish there was a way for me to see where the delivery man are trying to go so I can help them better in their way, and also better camera controls to do more helping faster. This was a nice little break from the other games where you have to figure out what the goal exactly is, if you're playing it correctly etc... Here there's none of that you just move stuff around. The sound design btw was really nice especially when the buildings drop down to the ground, super satisfying!

Special Delivery by Ismael Rodriguez 2023-05-02T16:09:04Z

I've gone through a lot of submissions and this is the best one. The art, the puzzles, the MENU AT THE END (so creative). Absolutely 0 bugs, not too long not too short this could be an amazing mobile game honestly great job!

Broken News by Noobot9k 2023-05-02T11:22:12Z

Fun idea, liked the aesthetic as well and the "shift" animation. The sudden gore is a nice touch as well same for the cars crashing into each other, adds to the general chaos going on. One thing I took some time to understand the journals were being sent towards the pointer, maybe a different pointer could've helped communicate that, otherwise that's a pretty complete and self-contained experience.

The Pigeon Post Principle by cassowary 2023-05-02T14:59:03Z

That flight animation was suprisingly good! same for the music! The best part tho undeniably was the puzzles. They all had a good twist, 8 especially once I figured it out was incredibly satisfying! Only issue I'd say is the order of the puzzles, the last one definitely wasn't the hardest for me. And it was a bit long, maybe less puzzles for one extra mechanic could've been worth it idk. I still went through all 15 cus it was just THAT good

Deliver to Whence you Came by JUSTCAMH 2023-05-02T16:49:07Z

the reveal is sooooo cool! at first I wasn't sure what it was and then I realized the entire environment was slugs. Definitely getting points for innovation there I'd be curious how you came up with it. Definitely a little bit too unpredictable for my liking here but you should explore it further I mean it.

EDIT: played it further, I think the later levels do better with the unpredictable aspect, (also maybe a level where you use a slug to cross a big gap by riding it sorta would've been cool, idk I love that mechanic)

Chain Mail by AdamCYounis 2023-05-02T15:14:46Z

Super unusual, I almost skipped it completely cus text based games aren't my thing but seeing the reviews I gave it a shot. Lot of polish, the music and graphics especially and the storyline. Personally I didn't have any issues at any point, the game may have been too easy but better than too hard and the lack playtesting is always the hardest part of a game jam

Hellfire Pizza by AploveStudio 2023-05-02T16:28:53Z

super fun stuff! loved the characters and the driving! Pretty rare to get people to actually sit through and read dialogue during a game jam but this was pretty engaging! Liked the details also, like the camera zooming in to passing buildings to help with navigation. The controls were smooth played it all the way to the end!

Debbie's Diner Derby by Oroshibu 2023-05-02T23:47:21Z

Suuuuper fun mechanic! Loved the character designs and animations as well! My only gripe would be with the need to stop to take, give orders, personally I was having the most fun when I was NOT stopping and just skating around at high speeds so it felt counter intuitive to ask the player to stop between orders instead of encouraging them to zigzag between tables. That sound design also was really cute, loved the voice.

Oh and the menu transitions as well. Very polished basically, here, have a 20th review :)

Forklift-em-up by BadPiggy 2023-05-02T16:35:19Z

fucking hilarious idea and smooth execution. Only gripe I have would maybe be a smoother camera? Otherwise I mean this is actually great one of the most satisfying game on here

Morse Code Delivery by BigFantasyTree 2023-05-02T01:28:21Z

jeeesus I struggled for that first door but it was worth it, if only cus I'm now half fluent in morse code. Liked the initial ignite puzzle also, couldn't figure out what to do with the treasures unfortunately but I'm assuming it just didn't get implemented in time. I do agree that some more leeway would've been nice for the letters especially at the beginning where the timing isn't there yet, maybe having it as a setting could work.

PARCEL PUNISHER by SirMilkman 2023-05-02T22:56:29Z

The little yellow guys could be frustrating at times, and having mostly no walls when the character throws the package at the highest possible velocity made me less willing to throw it carelessly, which I feel was the most fun part of the game. Throwing, killing, kicking doors into enemies, and that 3 punch combo which was unnecessary but I'm sooo glad you added it! This game definitely had JUICE! I feel like the theme almost holds it back. Great game.

Devil's Corp by Neobit 2023-05-03T08:34:33Z

Really nice shooter there, loved the story sequences and little animations in between rounds, same for the music! Reminded me of the old flash game era of games.

I will say a small thing I would maybe have changed would be the colors for the soul, I legit avoided them on the first round thinking they would hurt me, same for letting me skip so early the transition sequences, on my first playthrough I assumed it was simply waiting for me to click and didn't notice until later that I was getting introduced to new weapons. Regardless like I said, I did more than one playthrough, lots of replayability there. Nice and sweet playtime on its own with plenty to get distracted by in between! you can definitely notice the manpower in the art department!

demaker.s game by Kent Lizardo 2023-05-02T12:45:09Z

Really cool! played from beginning to end, loved the upgrade mechanic made me really excited to pick up new controllers each time, and how the way one would break would force you to combine multiple consoles to kill the enemies (the switching could've been made faster to encourage that). The platforming sections towards the end felt a bit dizzying since the viewports in the console and outside showed different information. I loved the way the last room is introduced, where you pick up the weapon as your surrounded by enemies (although I would've definitely put a machine gun in there if it was up to me ;) ). Aside from that good submission.

Postal Pandemonium by dprings7 2023-05-02T00:53:53Z

Unfortunately the itch.io link doesn't work for me either. If you're using Godot can you not create some executables to share? (also is that banner on itch.io AI generated?)

Postal Pandemonium by dprings7 2023-05-02T12:52:50Z

@acarc I managed to play it in the end, basically for me the issue was that the start button is outside the general banner area and outside the screen, I had to scroll down the page to find it. Some of the categories were a little awkward to figure out. What's a tool? What's a technology? Made me rely on the list a lot more which could be the intent. Maybe different levels with varying enemy layouts and categories? To break down the monotomy and slowly introduce more and more categories for the player to remember as he progress.

Crash Courier by Ategon 2023-05-02T12:06:48Z

Was suuuper impressed everytime I saw a new environment, all with their own music (which are honestly very nice as well, fit the game well) and effects! and then a global ranking?! Not sure how you managed to fit all that into a game. Maybe some extra "juice" when destroying enemies could've been nice. Really good game tho congrats

The Night Witches by Kultuk 2023-05-02T11:04:35Z

one of those entries where nothing goes wrong from start to end, congrats! loved that turning animation on the plane, super smooth, same for the level designs. Only change maybe would've been more consistent plane speeds (I'm guessing here it's just ease-in-out between two points) cus level 3 or so one of the plane was just much faster than the others while being the same color/design. But that's honestly a nit-pick, the movement was super satisfying and consistent which is rare in flying games.

Post It! by FakeButter 2023-05-01T22:43:49Z

I like the idea of flying between buildings in 2.5d it's pretty satisfying when you dodge a few of them in a row, but I have a hard time guessing which building is close and which is far, so I end up crashing into most of them. Maybe a way of seeing the bird when he is behind buildings also could've been nice?

Out of Time by Benjamin Gearig 2023-05-02T01:02:47Z

This game redefines what "game" means. It gives you a gun and monsters but challenges your preconceived notions. I saw the monster and instantly thought "eww, shoot him" but the gun didn't fire, I looked up to his eyes ready to be attacked but noticed no aggression. I was shell-shocked. Just because I had a gun, just because he was ugly, I thought that reason enough to murder him? Is this what people meant when they said video games make you violent? Do monster lives not matter?

Under the mounting shame I saw no option but to spam E and commit suicide (in a video game).

I still have a tear in my eye, I truly was "out of time".

Cat Elite by Julvador 2023-05-02T00:01:02Z

Had 7 seconds left to deliver, started rushing through and dodging asteroid fields before turning and shooting the meal at the very last second and landing it. Definitely felt like the stakes were high lol. Running over the aliens can be frustrating tho, especially in gravity fields. but loved it and good tutorial/art.

Storm Dove by RisingLeaf 2023-05-02T00:49:59Z

neat post-processing honestly and good controls. I think Ludum Dare is cropping the HTML5 version tho, you might want to publish it on itch.io and link to the page here that way people can play it from their browser easily.

Return to Sender by Crompo 2023-05-01T23:27:58Z

I love the atmosphere and this game starts off super strong. The way the mechanic is introduced is super smooth and well communicated, love the trail for instance. I got rly stuck tho on level 4 or so, wish I had time to sit down and figure it out but it's 1am here lol. good stuff tho!

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-02T00:08:45Z

@sarah-pederson Yes you were right thank you. I think it might work now!

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-02T01:49:45Z

@soulreviews Thanks man, replaying it I think you're right it would've been clearer. I also feel like I could've made it even more peaceful by decluttering it a bit, making those UI elements generally smaller and less in the way.

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-02T10:33:20Z

@thesecondleft aaah yes, the idea here was that you could delete some other shapes (lose 50 points) and then try calling a new one. But I didn't communicate at all that deleting old shapes would let you press the buttons again. Maybe a little text showing up once you can't call for anymore buttons at all would've worked?

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-02T13:34:51Z

@e-polygon awww thanks a lot man

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-02T13:44:27Z

@moritz-b Damn ye didn't see that one I tried my best to avoid that sort of bug, especially with the way I code the drag and drop it can be a little challenging. There's other general problems sometimes where the placement will be slightly off and all you need to do is replace it at the same location to fix it, but these are just not easily reproducible so eventually I moved on trying to debug it. Like you said, doesn't ruin the game. Thanks tho I you're definitely right about the label (better than "move" lol)

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-02T19:50:44Z

@frabjous-studios Ye Godot refuses to make it run on web without it. Maybe some other browser?

I had some struggles with understanding the Mac export on Godot, unfortunately, it seems it won't let me make a version that wouldn't pass the GateKeeper. Idk much about MacOS but apparently that's something you can disable, I understand if you don't want to. Regardless I uploaded a file on the itch.io page for that.

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-02T22:00:42Z

@acarc yesss I had the fragile box idea as well, but I opted to polish everything else instead since it would've probably meant quite a lot of code (my initial idea was to check that nothing is above it, but I think I prefer your idea much better, would've been much easier to code as well lol)

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-03T08:17:53Z

@gmstochetto yes the fuel isn't random, each truck there's a predefined fuel value and likelihood of getting unflippable boxes up to a certain amount, eventually it starts repeating and the game becomes more of an "how long can you survive" type of stuff. 1800 is the highest it ever goes I think. Thanks for the nice review tho!

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-04T12:17:11Z

@paul-avallone I completely agree for the music, I even have some experience improvising lofi-type stuff but I was worried I would lose too much time making it loop or sound good. I thought my time would be better spent polishing what I already had. Plus people usually end up muting all sounds unless the music is good and non repetitive and I was happy with my other sounds. Glad you loved it and ye order 8 and 9 are a little tough haha

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-04T12:18:40Z

@teshma Yeees I wish I had a better way of communicating that, perhaps a tutorial section, but there's only so much to do in 3 days. I'm still proud of the balance, the idea was that I obviously wanna encourage people to use bigger boxes, the smaller ones are just here to help you get a multiplier essentially and nothing else

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-07T09:36:41Z

@skitefall itch recommends that for unity I don't think they mention it for other engines. Might be a MacOS problem? I know the buffer thing that's required to run on browser doesn't seem to work on Mac. Unfortunately best I could do was make a downloadable file which requires you to deactivate some threat protection on your side which honestly I don't recommend you necessarily do either. I'm on Linux so I try my best with compatibility and understand how annoying it is but I was beat there sorry.

Warehouse Tycoon by Ixil Miniussi 2023-05-20T20:41:46Z

Suuuuper happy with that score! Thank you everyone for the kind reviews, see you next year!

BeWarehouse by DetKewlDog 2023-05-02T13:01:33Z

Pretty fun time but super stressful lol. Eventually you start figuring out how to flick boxes in their respective lanes all the way from the left side which is super satisfying! My two nitpicks would be: * the mailbox is kind of an unintuitive sprite for a bomb containment device * having to click right on the boxes can be challenging, especially once they start falling, making that area a little larger than the sprite could've helped. * maybe some noise feedback for successful orders to give some dopamine.

Otherwise I found it satisfying, the packages felt about the right weight, and the way the bombs are announced ahead of time with sound was also very neat

The Delivery of the Message by GreenwoodDrive 2023-05-02T02:15:36Z

There's no downloadable file or link to anything on my end. Are you sure you uploaded it correctly?
