I always love playing your games every Ludum Dare. This is a really clever idea and super fun. I like all the little details of polish like how you can stack materials in the rotation you grab them at. The whole style of the games comes together really nicely. Good work!

nanolotl 2023-05-01 02:21

Really well done - a fun concept with lots of polish (I enjoyed the increasing pitch as your stack of shapes got higher) A few minor criticisms: it felt like the sprint button was one button too many. I also think I would have found it more fun if each day was about trying to compelte a prescribed list of shapes as quickly as possible. With random shapes I was finding I was having to make a couple of them very often (as will happen with random selection)

These are very minor issues, the actual game is incredibly well made. Great job.

What a super polished entry. I love your style and the mechanics of this game are just great. It took me a while to discover you can stack the pieces, though. During the first run I felt like it was impossible to complete any shape in just one minute. And then, even with stacking, it is still challenging to try and grab them up with the correct rotation  Cool game!

spacemyname 2023-05-01 17:11

Absolutely wonderful game, love the concept!

kiddy 2023-05-01 18:08

Really cool game, gameplay a bit repetitive but all the polish, little details and gameplay elements are really interesting

mr-field 2023-05-01 19:40

really fun simple and intuitive movement/placement system, you've gotta be real fast

i think the only gripes i had were that the tile you're holding can get visually lost when over the tiles you've placed, and when you stack differing tiles; the latest tile would be underneath the stack where you can't really see it. - although i'd often just place it and rotate it later so it wasn't a huge deal (and maybe intentional?)

obviously it's quite simple right now as a compo game, but i could see it becoming really engaging as extra quirks get added to the mix as you progress

slimetrash 2023-05-01 22:28

lovely little game, love the way the little guy moves

kimau 2023-05-01 22:42

Excellent and all round brilliant take

waffleworksgames 2023-05-01 22:58

What a great game, who knew rotating shapes could be so challenging! Super cool concept, great art, really well polished, and extremely fun to play. It gets really difficult to keep up a few levels in, I kept turning my shapes the wrong way and forgetting the stack order but that adds to the fun. Extremely well done!

aplovestudio 2023-05-02 04:55

super in love with the visual aesthetics, very awesome and very cute game

roblaro 2023-05-02 15:52

Very clever and well put together, nicely done!

papaya 2023-05-02 20:17

Loved the game play. A lot of small details made this game play and feel great! The cursor on the floor, the elevating pitch of the sound effect when you pick up multiple tiles. Also, the first level had no time limit which allows you to mess around and understand how the game works. Solid entry.

ixil-miniussi 2023-05-02 20:38

lots of tiny stuff to make it satisfying right there. Appreciate the simple movement, it felt really intuitive and I never really had a "I didn't mean to place it here" moment. Maybe some way of seeing the rotation and type of shape at the very bottom of the pile could've helped but even then it added a memory aspect to it all. Good little game

sirmilkman 2023-05-02 21:48

this is super impressive for a compo game. literally all it needs is a title screen and tutorial and you could sell it. great job!

spacespytv 2023-05-02 22:20

Loved it all, felt challenging at first but I was lasting over a week before I knew it. I wish there was a shadow to help better judge shape rotation, and an auto sprint option, but apart from that it's an amazing game and impressive you made it all in 48 hours by yourself.

morepixels 2023-05-03 01:07

This was great! Quite challenging, especially since i didnt realise i could pick up more than one thing at a time for a while! Good Work!

mallansandan 2023-05-03 06:41

I loved the game, but would prefer to play it with a controller, I think. After a while you needed to be super fast in order to earn enough money to finish the level. I could never finish more than one shape in a day :( other than that, I really like the idea! Challenges you to think about shapes!

machinescreen 2023-05-03 06:59

I am too slow at this game, even after I realised you could pick up multiple shapes at a time! Lovely graphics and sound. Such a simple idea, executed really well. Sometimes I felt the controls weren't particularly responsive on the web-build.

stingby12 2023-05-03 09:20

Survived 13 days.

This game is really hard and makes me waste time every time it seems like. The 1 minute timer is really aggressive and I can barely make 3 ships in a day.

roalinn 2023-05-03 12:02

Very good idea and cute graphics. i love it so much

ani 2023-05-03 13:32

I'm pretty bad at playing this, but I like the concept! The animations and feedback are well done. I only found it difficult to see the shape at the bottom of the pile so I switched to placing one type of shape at a time (which is probably why I'm slow!)

yorsh 2023-05-03 22:56

Very complete game for a compo, nice job! I really love the movement of the legs, that's a smart way to animate this little guy. I think it would have made more sense (gameplay wise, not real life wise) to display the piece you are about to drop on the top of the pile, so we can see it.

jake-g 2023-05-04 02:28

This was a fun and well executed idea. Also, I thought the shapes were creative. It took me a couple attempts to realize you could pick up more than one shape. That was a game changer. I couldn't get much further than day 5ish.

olddog 2023-05-04 15:16

wonderful!!! and perfect in each details,,,game idea is great ,special like the cute character abd moving animation,, this is my top 5 game in this game jam, nice work, hoping for more games like this

aurel300 2023-05-04 22:16

I really enjoyed how the game progressed (at least for me) in that I thought about how to optimise the various tasks more and more: at first (before the timer started), I just moved the pieces one by one, which was of course really boring. When the timer started I realised there will be a challenge and I tried to stack pieces of the same kind, which worked. Later on I figured out that the stack can actually be arbitrarily large and can contain mixed pieces, so I should plan the full figure out. And then of course, planning *too much* means I might spend too much time just picking up the pieces and not placing any. Very simple and pretty fun!

npckc 2023-05-05 00:16

i loved this! having the first stage have no timer was very kind as i was figuring out the controls (& i should have looked at the screenshot before playing because for a while i didn't realise you could pick up more than one piece at a time...!)

sergilazaro 2023-05-05 12:17

Really took me a while to rotate the pieces properly as i wanted to in my head, since it's a bit hard to see what orientation the piece is in before you drop it, until after a while you feel how to rotate them more intuitively.

I also think the piece selection for the first few levels could have been more limited and progressively expanded, for instance: first only squares since you don't have to care about rotation, then add one other piece type for a couple of stages to introduce rotation, and then keep expanding with new pieces. That way the progression would be smoother.

Other than that, it was pretty fun to play, great job!

amolker 2023-05-05 14:42

Really enjoyed this game! Very original idea and nice execution. Good job.

torcado 2023-05-05 15:03

@sergilazaro introducing shapes in stages was the plan! the code is actually set up for it, I just didn't have enough time to finish implementing it

badpiggy 2023-05-06 11:58

Really great idea and mechanics. Everything about this is really cute as well, from the visuals to the little sounds for the player's footsteps. I absolutely love how you can stack pieces together. Made things really conveniant and ensures that you don't lose too much time if you put the wrong piece, or if it's at the wrong rotation. I guess my only issue is similiar to everyone above. The puzzles really needed to be weighted.

Still, absolutely amazing entry overall

debone 2023-05-06 14:29

Aaaaah!! This game made me jump couple of times when trying to finish a shape last second. One mistake and it'd be gone. Amazing what some tangram-like puzzle can do to us. Thanks for your game!

bokonon 2023-05-07 04:01

I loved this idea; it was simultaneously relaxing and stressful to make these shapes. Things really clicked when I realized you could hold multiple items at a time. I really enjoyed this experience, and it felt great to play!

fear-games 2023-05-07 09:51

Really cool game, I wish it was a bit simpler to see what your current shape was and which way it was rotated but other than that Love it!

jezzamon 2023-05-07 17:03

Nice game!

I could imagine this being fun framed as a relaxing puzzle game, without the timer, where the goal is to get them all in as few trips as possible.

ryanansberry 2023-05-08 03:18

Very fun and clever idea. It took a little getting used to the rotation, but the gameplay is really addictive. Great work!

mr-developer 2023-05-08 09:18

ah! once again an extremely unique and clever puzzle from you with a completely unexpected take on the theme, enjoyed it a lot although my left hand is burning a bit from the speed hahah

thegamerasd 2023-05-10 21:46

Cool game, I liked being able to hold multiple pieces at once. It was fun trying to place all the shapes down to complete the pattern in time.

cataclysmicknight 2023-05-12 22:08

Whew, this gets tough! I love the concept and execution though, especially in 48 hours! It's cool being able to make so much with just those four shapes, and it's so much more intuitive to move yourself to rotate the shapes than to move the mouse or something.

I got a bit confused at one point when I picked up a shape and was trying to place it but it was already rotated or something so it didn't go the way the top piece was lined up, but I just set it aside. And I wish that your hands would get emptied after a round, as I sometimes had to empty them after the round began and lost a few seconds because of it. But neither of those is any kind of major a all, it was fun! I got to the fourth day before one of the shapes blew my mind and I didn't quite finish it 🤣

aeveis 2023-05-18 02:37

I made it to day 6! I like how the shapes were tiling, makes me think about how i do tiling for environments for 2d games haha. My hand cramps up easily (even for my own ld game) but liked the cool shapes and starting to be able to deconstruct that into the base shapes in my mind. nice job!
