@polinachrr Thanks for your review ! You can move by using the arrow keys on your keyboard :)

Also, you can use x to go on walk mode or fly mode, and c to validate/deliver a package !
I really liked the remix of the music of Kiki's delivery service, and found the graphics really cute, congrats !
Managed to get everyone to love me 🙂 I thought that someone might make a game referencing Kiki's Delivery Service, but didn't expect Kiki to be a 32 old sucessful business woman hahaha
Nice game, good job!
Really fun! Controls well and lasts just long enough without getting repetitive. Only gripes for me were the lack of contrast between player and background which made it hard to see at times when flying, and the fact that the "objective marker" thing stayed on screen even when the objective arrow itself was, which was a tad in the way. Otherwise an amazing job!
Love the Kiki’s Delivery Service reference! Very fun game, love how tense it gets and want to get the best score possible.
Hi @emily-ttg, thanks for the review ! I used two markers because I figured out it was difficulte to locate the house to deliver when it was on the other side of the map, I didn't think it could something that block the view, I will look for that ! Also, I'm pretty new to pico 8 (I started like 2 month ago ?), you have a limited color palette and you have to trick a little to make shadows for example. However that's an addition I want to make, I might add it later to make the character stand out a little more !
Realy fun to play, all I can say now is that everybody loves me now! ;) Great job! :D
+ You should start the player off on the ground, I drained all the mana before figuring things out and had to deliver next 2 packages on foot. + I beat the game but still not sure what the mechanics were, I was in a loop: check the direction, fly over until close, dismount, walk over and spam c. I saw there was life and it drained and I think I got teleported a few times, but I don't know why, the first time I ran out of mana I just started walking. + Sometimes getting off the broom over an obstacle would snap the camera to the grid, which was somewhat disorienting.
Hi @ellaris, thanks for your review ! I hesitate to make the player start on the ground rather than walking, however I figured people didn't know they could fly if they didn't start this way. I think the best would be to have the controls explained in game before you start actually playing, that's something I'm looking to add ! Also I think I should make the start zone open so the player is not block if he has no mana.
You quite describe the whole experience : a loop where your goal is to go to some house and deliver the package ! However you don't have to dismount to deliver a package, if you press "c" close enough it will be deliver, I should make this clearer :)
The heart represent people's appreciation, when you don't deliver a package, or lost it because you fell in the sea or in the woods, you lose appreciation. However it's acting like a life bar since when it's under 0 you lose the game.
I can't picture the grid problem you described, if you could provide a picture/gif of this issue I would really appreciate it !
The dismounting before delivering the package is to conserve mana, since it is a waste to fly why you drop the package and scan the map for the next destination, at least that's what they said at magical broom package delivery school.
The snapping must be the teleport after falling into water close to the city, I thought the camera was snapped to the character. I guess I didn't really look at where I was, just where I'm going.
I did find it hard sometimes to deliver the packages on land, certain houses even when adjacent didn't want to take the package and I had to fly over the house for the delivery.
@ellaris Thanks for those precisions ! I think I should make the camera travel to the starting point rather than just teleport it where the player is in that case, I'll try to make this for next update !
Delivery is made to adjacent tiles, but not to diagonals tiles, I will add them to increase the delivery zone a little
Great Art~Great music~ Very cohesive. I think you could optimize the beacon, I didn't recognize it first. The flying mechanics are really good~~ Keep going~~
Pretty fun, thank. So many references and old good style
Cute game! Just needs a satisfying sound that pitches up as you deliver packages. A low mana noise would be cool too
Lovely game! Excellent use of the theme and an adorable character. I like the tradeoff between walking and flying. Nice job!
Nice idea! really to play
Love the pixel art :) Really nicely done. Normally I like going full speed right away, but thing i would have been nice here with just a bit of acceleration. Great job
Good pixel art and cute game. Loved it
What a cute, tiny game! The scope has been handled really well. I loved the gameplay of "slingshotting" that emerges from the mechanics, where you find yourself flying for very short bursts of time and trying to guessland as close as possible to where you need to be delivering the package!
It gives a good flow to the game, alternating between short bursts of high speed, very approximative "general direction" movement (which feels good and is fun) and short bursts of frantically running around and trying to get situated to deliver the package (which delivered a sweet bit of tension to me). The game did not seem to be very hard or tense though, so I never felt really pressured to go as fast as possible, and only did it because it was the most fun way to play for me (but other people might end up missing on that fun because the game doesn't seem to require it, but that's still fine).
The graphics are super cute as well. The Kiki remix has a very Microsoft Puzzle Collections retro feel. Awesome work!
I think it probably would have really shone with a little more feedback (SFX?), maybe a slightly smoother UX? (some things were not immediately clear, and though I ended up understanding them alright, it might not be the case for everyone! Understanding the mana system takes a little while, for what I've seen when other people played the game)
Such a fun game!! :D I loved the mechanics, everything is very polished visually and it makes it very intuitive, even an idiot like me could understand the stamina mechanic in less that 1 minute. Notice me Kiki Besos senpai :'(((
The idea and the mecanic of fly/walk is really clever ! It's a good little game made in so few time!!! Congrat's !
A nice and simple game. I wish there was a little more feedback, like a score counter that went up- and also wish that it was a bit easier to run out of life! You have to sit around and fail a lot of deliveries to make the heart counter go down significantly.
We NEED more Pico8 entries in Ludum Dare. This is such a sweet and cute little game! I'm loving the music and adorable pixel art style too! Very well done in the time with the limitations of the Pico! <3
Always nice to see some pico games in jams. And yours it really nice and pleasant. Like someone said I had trouble to recognize the beacon at first. I also spam x to move, so i could fly pretty much infinitely. Maybe there is some fine tuning to do on that. Other than that, really nice game, and nice entry for the compo ! Good job!
Nice mechanic of walk/fly. The game looks good and I like the music. Some Visual/SFX feedback when you land/fly/deliver something would help the game to feel more responsive and alive. I think there is an affordance issue with the heart, because we think it's health, but it's love ! I would have appreciated some reward (at least visual) when you reach the 100%. Overall that was fun to play.
Bien joué !
Fun little maze world to explore. Like it and it made me feel cozy. :)
Simple but cool game, I like the reference to Kiki. Disable the fly after a certain time in the air is a good idea
Had a bit of a confusing learning curve at start for me but when I got the hang of it I had fun! I think the most confusing aspect for me was falling into the water running out of mana and getting immediately thrown back to start, some animation there would have helped understand what's going on. Direction indicator not being capped to the screen but showing distance was really smart as well (though it did take a bit of getting used to). Making tradeoffs between running and flying was interesting and the presentation was great for PICO-8!
Fun, cute, intuitive and creative game! Reminds me of the old Cartoon Network games back in the early 2000s haha Great job, a really good entry!

I got the pokemons flyer where I played it on the gameboy and nintendo back then and I think it turned out mega good only the sound is a bit stupid but the game is mega
