I fully admit to being too dumb to play this. I got to the 3rd level and got totally stuck. Loved the graphics and controls tho, reminded me of an old-school dos game. Good work!

Gives me good baba is you puzzle vibes. Could definitely see it working well with more levels . That last level defeated my tiny post jam brain
@stefanie-leitch I promise you're not too dumb to play this, I made the difficulty too hard to make up for the lack of levels, sorry! Thanks for playing though, I appreciate it!
@fabernull I wanted to go for something Baba is You esque, so I'm glad that came across in the game. Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed!
Solid puzzle game, took me a minute to understand the rules but really compelling once I did. I am also probably too dumb to play this and could not for the life of me figure out level 2. Awesome job though!
Hold up I beat level 2. Sick.
@nick-barrash Nice one! I'm sorry in advance for Level 4!
i got to level 2 and then after a solid 15 minutes said out loud "what" and gave up; could probably make the game more accessible for people like me who have a room temperature iq
I couldn't get past level 2. I guess i am not smart enough.
@velaachlorine @theviraldragon Thanks for your feedback! That's my bad, I don't think I explained the mechanics well enough in the game. I'll update the description for new players, and hopefully that'll make it more accessible. Thanks for playing
I think I could really enjoy this game, but I got stuck on level 3 and I dont know what to do :( It feels like there is something about the mechanics I dont know/understand yet, but maybe I just dont see the solution. It feels like, whatever I do, the path to the flag in the middle will always be blocked. I think a few more introductory puzzles would help a lot. Just to get used to the rules. That said, I think it looks really cool! The black and white is super simple, but it is consistent and works well. Some thoughtful music would have been amazing, but I am sure that was just a time constraint thing :) Thanks a lot for making this! I really enjoy these kind of games, and usually I am pretty decent at solving puzzles like this, so I was a bit frustrated at myself that I could not solve it. This is not necessarily a bad thing though :P Great job!
@wuppos Thanks so much for your feedback! The biggest problem with this game is definitely the difficulty curve, if I had more time I would have added some simpler levels to teach the mechanics by themselves instead of just making a complicated level and hoping you figure it out yourself lol. Thanks a lot for playing though, I hope I didn't frustrate you too much
Would love to see the solutions on these levels as I can't seem to make it through. It's a fairly simple mechanic but some crucial rules like the floor breaking when adjacent walls are shot make it deceptively challenging. I found myself straining a bit to see the difference between the broken and damaged floor tiles. There's definitely depth here, and a plethora of sokoban puzzle mechanics could be thrown in to great effect. Well done!
A great submission :D I love the aesthetic and the game holds well with the theme of the jam. Well done!
Graphics are simple, but actually cute. The difficulty is really high though. A button to restart the current level without having to run into a broken floor first could help to quickly experiment with different approaches.
Truly mindbending puzzle! My only recommendation, background music or add sound to the smiley steps and wall destruction, to add more mood to it.
Screenshot 2021-10-05 at 2.48.27 PM.png The last stage is so hard.. took me way too long to clear it. Wouldn't mind a few other mechanics as well.
Congrats on the submission.
@jonah-srg @maus-games @binaryprinciple @ethankessler Thanks everyone for playing! I appreciate the feedback too, I agree with it all as I think it'd definitely improve the game. If I decide to to a post-jam update I'll definitely add these. Cheers
@zwodahs Thanks a lot for playing, and congrats on beating it! I made the last stage pretty hard intentionally so I'm impressed that you cleared it haha. I was pretty stretched for level design ideas with just this mechanic so if I was to do a post-jam version I'd definitely add in some more. Congrats again :trophy:
To be done in just 10 hours it's great. maybe it's a little too difficult. I stopped at level three unfortunately. I did a little bit of difficulty with the visual feedback, they seem a bit the same when the floor is unstable and when it is almost unstable. Excellent:)
An interesting experience. Sadly, like others I remained stuck on Level 2. I'm not good at puzzle games like these. Even so, it's a unique game, and I like your interpretation of the theme. Also, I like the minimalist graphics. It was a screenshot that captured my attention.
Hey, neat, our games are really similar, haha: black and white, pixel art, grid-based puzzlers.
Really nice puzzle mechanic. My only complaints are that the difficulty ramps way too quickly and the way the floors collapse isn't clearly demonstrated, and that the damaged ground and pit tiles are really visually noisy and difficult to distinguish. And I wish there more levels of course, but under the time contraints it's totally understandable that there aren't. Good job, this idea deserves some fleshing out.
I see what's getting people caught up on the puzzle solutions: First you're taught that shooting a block while standing on a broken tile is dangerous. Then you're required to do exactly that. The thing to remember is that shooting doesn't break the tile you're standing on, and it'll only break if the block you're shooting is too close.
Good puzzles! Enjoyed solving them.
NICE. The last level took me a while.
Thanks for this nice little puzzler. I'll admit I did not finish it... yet! :)
Hey! I beat it! I got stuck on 2, and 4 took some trial and error but it wasn't too bad! Definitely agree with the Baba Is You comparison. Well done! As a fellow "no-sound" developer, I understand the lack, but it would be nice to add sound and music! I agree the visuals could be better to tell apart the two kinds of floors. Overall I think this is a really solid entry and I enjoyed it a lot!
I feel like with a little bit more time this could be a really good puzzles game. Currently I feel like the difficulty curve may be a bit too big and the game a bit too small, but I liked the mechanics a lot
I'm glad I'm not the only person to get stuck on level 2. I'm also bad at Baba Is You, for that matter.
Regardless, the concept is really interesting, and I can imagine that some intermediate puzzles between level 1 and 2 would help me grasp strategies a little better.
Very nice concept, and impressive for only 10 hours!
Okay - you weren't kidding that the 4th level is a huge difficulty jump up. I think the first 3 levels took me about 2 minutes and the last level took me over 20. There were a few points I got stuck.
The rubble graphic and the pit graphic don't quite read as rubble and pits. Also you mentioned that there is damage 2 tiles away but there was some nuance with the rules of exactly how that worked that took some time to figure out. However, the mechanics lent themselves very well to a very challenging puzzle that was satisfying when I finally beat it. 2021-10-05 14_23_23-RUIN ESCAPE by Reccy.png
@giulychu Yeah I did the art very quickly just to get it in the game, but now after releasing it I can see what you mean and I totally agree. A post-jam version of the game would definitely have updated art that differentiates between the pits and damaged floors a lot more than what it currently is. Nice work on getting to level 3!
@gamebuilder I'm sorry you got stuck on Level 2, but I'm glad you at least liked the graphics and the idea. To be honest I'm not good at these kinds of games either! They're a lot easier to make than play I think haha
@pdotjpg Yeah my biggest regret with this game is not making the difficulty ramp up easier. I made the mistake of wanting to just get to the interesting mechanics straight away without boring the player. I actually played your game and you did a much better job of that than me, so maybe I can learn a thing or two from you!
@coda-highland I think you're talking about the solution to Level 2 here? Yeah I think that mechanic wasn't explained that well in the game. My idea with the Level 2 solution was that it would show that it's dangerous to shoot a wall if you're standing next to it on a damaged tile. I don't think I designed the level well enough to showcase just that mechanic by itself though, since the solution involves shooting the other wall from the opposite side. Thanks a lot for your feedback and insight though, this is something I'll keep in mind when I make a post-jam version.
@holyblackcat Cheers! Congrats on beating the game!
@marrs You're welcome! I'm sorry in advance for level 4 haha
@lonewookie Nice! Congrats on beating the game! Yeah I totally agree, I would have liked to add sound but completely ran out of time. The post-jam version will definitely have sound effects and background music though, along with the better graphics to differentiate between the broken floors and pits.
@neoncircus Thank you! I really wanted to enter this for the compo so I wanted to get the game done as soon as possible. If I entered this for the jam though I think the game would have been a lot better. In saying that, I'm glad you liked the mechanics, so at least I know that idea works!
@cameron-paxton Thanks! I wish I had the extra time to work on this and add some intermediate puzzles. I'm actually terrible at Baba is You too tbh haha
@candlesan Congrats on beating the game, and with 1 bullet left?! I have no idea how you did that, my intended solution was for you to end up with 0. So, congrats on beating my score also :joy:
Thanks for playing everyone, I really appreciate it. I also played your games and left feedback too
@reccy I went back and played through again. It took me a while to figure out the solution again. It's funny because in the process I think I found the "intended" solution that ends with no bullets. Regardless, I uploaded a solution to level 4 here (SPOILERS) https://youtu.be/Tpf6cGAF7mw
I don't think the difficulty was too hard. I had fun playing the levels. It took a little time to figure out some of them. And if I'm not mistaken there was a red-herring "+1" at the end level. It easier to get stuck earlier on because you are learning the mechanics. Some additional mechanics, sound, or visual effects could have been some nice improvements. Nice job.
@candlesan Cool! I went through the left section which took an extra bullet. I never thought of going back through the section the way you did. Nice one!
@naali Thanks for playing and for your feedback. I'm glad you had fun!
Last level was so hard, every bullet counts. Nice game though its really hard right from the start and there was no any tutorial levels or instructions how bullet affects. Playing is more like a challenges than a relaxing game play; Had to focus and count things, and merge right paths. This is like the old school games, where developers has simple game mechanics but time to think the levels into the hardest mode; It's even really good or really bad.
good job! i really loved it
Nice concept but woooow that was hard ! I had a little bit of trouble to distinguish which was the cracked floor and which one was the hole at first, but it's still a nice challenge. Congrats !
it's a very nice compo! the game well polished and the game situations are very interesting.
I would have liked to see more levels in order to accompany in understandings of the mechanics, but for 48h it is very very clean, congratulations!
Woaw... I felt so dumb being stuck on level 2 x) I think it's a bit of a design flaw though. The mechanics were not introduced at the right pace. At first I didn't understand that the shoot made one damage on one side and two on the other.
Other than that, I really liked the puzzle, it was really interesting to think like that, I don't know why it was hard to get the hang of the mechanics, and I think that is what it takes to make a good puzzle game.
The game felt really polished and the simple art was helping concentrating on the resolution of the problem. I feel like too much things everywhere would have make things a bit worse.
It's a solid entry! Great work!
Very cool puzzle game, I really like the wall/floor destruction mechanic. That said my biggest problem was interpreting the graphics. The crumbling floor doesn't really read as a floor to me, the same goes for the holes in the floor. I read the description and it helped, but still it was hard to interpret what I see on the screen correctly. I feel that with only a little bit more detailed graphics this would be a really great game. Anyway, kudos for designing such nice and tight puzzler! (Oh, also a restart button would be nice!)
SPOILER WARNING: tip for all the people stuck on the second level: you need to shoot through the flag.
It amazing that you made this game in just 10 hours. I would have liked to see more levels! I enjoyed the graphics! Excellent:3
@coolestdoggie Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed
