This Special War by mvasko2 2022-04-09T15:23:11Z
Great atmosphere, chill music is really on spot. Could have been fun to have more hazards than the cone-view guys, yet it's pretty cool

Great atmosphere, chill music is really on spot. Could have been fun to have more hazards than the cone-view guys, yet it's pretty cool
It's damn great, I'm keeping this on my pc!
Great mechanics, theme on spot! Really well done!
Got me really fast, It's strategic and fun
It has a great mood and a cool use of lighting and oversaturated colors to mark important spots. The atmosphere reminds me of The Wolf Among Us, great work!
This is great all round! Loved the mood, doesn't even seem a jam game
Loved the style and the shady humor, pretty good work! You've got the best rating I've given this far!
I really enjoyed the story and the art, nice game! I spent a lot of time wandering in space without anything to shoot tho. Maybe you should tune the enemy spawn a little
Really fun, I'd like to play a mobile version... I could probably just launch my phone for that
I couldn't find any traps to remove :/
Took me a while to understand how it works, but it is really immersive and the (neatly designed) minimal UI helps focusing on your dark fantasies. Well done!
Really nice atmosphere!
That cling animation made me laugh a lot! Nice and funny game
Thanks guys!
One of my favorites so far!
Great idea, would be great to see more content in the future!
Hahaha we really had the same idea! I was planning something like this before going with the grid approach. Really nice, my record is 19 items
Cool concept! It was a little frustrating realizing that to pick the last piece I had to start over though
@paveldlouhy maybe you could add the ability to fill back in a square of dirt for every piece of gold you take and make more pieces hard to reach. Once balanced that could some add strategic value while giving a limited, non game-breaking, undo option. Or you could just make the forced path to the last piece shorter and the final speed of the characted higher, but this may take away much of the fun
Fun little game, loved the metal soundtrack (some CoB vibes around here)
Liked the take on the theme. Graphics and dialogue are really cozy. I really enjoyed this one.
Very good take on 4D mechanics and fun voice acting was the cherry on top of the cake. Could be more intuitive to play with a little feedback about where platforms are going to be after turning the clock. Without any visual clue sometimes feels like a memory game or brute-forcing a combination, depending on player approach.
Loved graphics, music and the general idea, but aiming doesn't work properly and I'm not sure how it relates to the theme. If it's just me missing stuff you should probably add a bit more info in the description.
Looks great, the controls feel a little weird though. Probably too much deceleration after you release the forward button: it makes impossible to keep a constant speed between zero and max.
Nice graphics, but really easy
Cool art and concept, I had a little hassle figuring out what to do with the mouse at the beginning. Overall really nice game!
Graphics looks polished and crystals mechanics adds some twists to the gameplay. Really nice entry!
Had some truble with the oversensitive camera. Atmosphere is really really cool.
Really enjoyable game, loved the art style and concept in general. Given the size of the planet maybe the robot could move a little faster, takes a lot to traverse.
Seems nice and I liked the chill music! I couldn't play much 'cause it keeps filling up my ram and crashing. Probably some memory allocation issue. Screenshot_2.png Also frame-rate is pretty bad... I have the feeling that it's not using my gpu at all.
You've got by far the best review I've made so far, it's just great guys! I didn't want to stop playing!
This is one of the best entries I played so far, but I have some trouble believing all the assets were made in 72 hours
Nice game, evading attacks is pretty difficult though
@robin-schmitz that's pretty good advice, I have the feeling that it gets too hardcore towards the end. Couldn't go past round 9 myself (it's just 10 rounds long). I hope some perseverant dude will see the ending scene
@erlioniel thank you! I opted out 'cause trees and knight/horse graphics were pre-made assets.
@paveldlouhy thank you! Slowing down time seems a really nice idea. Didn't really have the time to think about powerups during the jam
Haha, I'm glad you liked it @carlos-cadori! Doing graphics is my personal enemy when I make games alone, and great free assets like yours really help save the day. Thanks again!
It has some strange collisions with floor and columns, kept falling into the void
Very relaxing game, made me space out for a few minutes
Very relaxing sandbox game (kind of a literal sandbox here)
Really cute art! Try disabling colliders on dead enemies, they still block bullets after killed
I couldn't get how it is related to the theme and it's probably too easy, but the game is really stylish and the controls feel sooo good
Loved the concept and the art style. It's really messing with my brain! Great job!
Really cool, loved the overall vibe!
This is insane, you keep getting my best reviews and I think I'm going to take a look at the source too. Great job man!
It plays well and the programming stuff adds some depth. Cute graphics too. Very nice game!
It's great how the mapping of the controls makes difficult to walk while charging the torch, and entering numbers with the numeric pad makes you feel like you are entering data in the console for real. Blend this with on spot graphics, smooth gameplay and good sounds / voice acting and we have a top-tier entry. Truly a great work!
It plays well and I like the graphics, but the level design drifts a little off going further. Still a really nice chilling entry!
This is incredible, a great idea with an outstanding execution. Btw I'm learning pixel art with your tutorials @pedro-medeiros, it's always a pleasure to see your work!
Visually stunning, and I liked all the little details and animations
This is amazing, one of the top three I played till now. Great job!
The mechanics have a lot of depth, and it's really fun to play! Impressive entry, great job!
Honestly a little to easy to keep me engaged, but it has incredible graphics, writing, audio and lots of UI programming in there. This really is a great jam game!
Well... I want more levels! This is super juicy and smooth to play! Good job!
Seriously? You found the time to put different biomes in? Hahahah This is super cool! I had a lot of fun and I would probably like to buy a full release! Great job!
I didn't want to stop playing! Super polished game!
Screenshot_2.png
It's so cute! Anyway I had trouble spotting spikes against the background, and it would be much better with a few checkpoints. Apart from that I enjoyed it and I think it's a pretty good job!
What a great atmosphere! I loved the art and the music! Great job!
Nice art and idea. Could have been more challenging and strategic by making harder to gain enough reputation without using faster units and with a need to get units to the start city from the latest location before starting the delivery. A really good job overall!
Looks great and is super chill! I loved to realize the pipes are colored to guide you to the platform of the same color. Also I have a thing for games where gameplay elements can interact both with player and between them (Player can stack boxes on the car then drive it and so on). Great work guys!
The visual atmosphere is great, and I liked the UI showing target and current coordinates. It felt like the control mapping could be better putting rotation on mouse or arrow keys, and I honestly did not get what was so "dark" with the world: they have wind turbines and an extremely efficient delivery system, how bad can this society possibly be? Anyway It really has a neat vibe! Good job!
Thanks @fishy-f1shy, I'm going to check the inputs first thing tomorrow. I think it is a keyboard localization problem, try with "[" and "]" or +/- on the NumPad.
@exilon you slayed it dude! Thanks for the kind words @pbluke. I'm glad you liked it!
Thanks for playing! @micheleleva @ethernalstudio
@leking I agree, more levels would be great. You could trigger those with more "fill to start" mail boxes. About powerups I can only think of a score multiplier (combo meter?) and a slow time for this kind of game.
@erlioniel another pro spammer! There is even a (disabled) online leaderboard UI on the wall behind the player, but I couldn't find the time to hook it up :/
**UPDATE >>** Updated version with **online leaderboard** available on itch.io! **<<** Thank you very much! @oleksunder @foggydude @magicstunts123 @coffeemakingtoaster @cresceda @sonofsofaman @ardorugus thank you! I didn't know the sketch and it was super funny! ...maybe I will add some kind of easter egg :D @barce thank you! The leaderboard was already halfway there and is now live, thanks to your comment too! @skel3ton thanks! "(+/-)" are plus and minus sign on the keyboard, to adjust mouse sensitivity.
@stephanschue thanks for you feedback! I'm not sure that I get what you mean by countering attacks though.
I will never finish it, but it looks and plays great. Good job!
Juicy gameplay and great visual communication. I played it twice and I wanted more... it's really dark under the cover haha I got stuck on a black screen after pressing start btw, but spamming Enter it started alright
Nice one, but the background wall is a bit too hard on the eyes, and the camera viewport should be much larger allow you to see where you are going. Anyway cool graphics and nice concept, good work!
I didn't like much the controls (both mapping and unresponsive movement), but still it looks great and is a neat entry!
I liked a lot the straight-forward rewind system, but in the last level I misclicked on the almost finished puzzle and resetted all of it. Maybe some confirmation dialogue or a way to interrupt it would be nice. Also the hacker icon being animated is maybe a little distracting. Anyway it's a really nice entry, the minimal style works great and the puzzles mechanics are well thought.
It's nice, but often the destination spawns in the same place of the pickup, meaning the delivery happens without me doing anything.
It's a nice idea, but unresponsive controls and tutorial blocking movement are really frustrating.
Not giving firepower upgrades makes it completely impossible after a certain point (Around 7k points), as you do not have enough bullets to stop the bats. I really liked the art style and overall it's a very nice entry, good job!
So difficult, but sooo good. This is a really good puzzle game, with great atmosphere too. Good job!
Good art and sounds, the button icons with anti-aliasing feel a little off though
I had a lot of fun with this one! Loved the idea and the mechanics!
It just needs some tweaks about the jump: - jump sound - stronger landing sound - shadow showing clearly where you are going to land - faster, more responsive descent
With that and a few more islands would be really great! Anyway it's a pretty good job, and I really had fun!
Liked the art, combat is a bit simplistic. Monsters designs are really cool, well done!
Extremely polished game with beautiful audio and pixel art. I'd enjoy some more control during fights, but this is an outstanding entry! Great job everyone!
Intro is really funny! Jump feels very floaty and I would have liked to see collected dreamlings appear in the daycare though.
First off, this looks extremely good for a 36h jam! I liked the abilities and expecially having to chain them together. The transition when switching between them is very slow though. I didn't get to the third ability cause I couldn't figure out where to go when water summons are introduced, but I enjoyed the game till that point. Great job! Ps: performance is not great, but you might just have to turn off Lumen or some other default hi-end features of Unreal.
This is wonderful! The spear mechanic is original and feels really satisfying, and the level design is both fun and interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if you end up ranking in the top five. I'd love to play a full release, and I'm even willing to help with development if you ever need an extra developer. Keep up the great work!
Very polished entry, loved the graphics. I only had some trouble picking up objects, it's not clear when you are in range to collect them. Overall a very solid game, well done!
Cool concept and nice art, but I couldn't do anything with the ghost. It needs a tutorial and clear feedback.
Cats ❤️
Very nice presentation, liked idea and graphics. Space invaders game is a bit too difficult (Slippery controls and little time). The resumes are hilarious!
Looks really good and gameplay is fun. Heroes seem to have a bit too much health and takes a lot to slay them. Throw in way to heal and a couple heroe variants and this could be a great arcade game
Feels really good! I love the clean graphics, and the fact that it requires some planning. Really solid entry, this is great!
The noir comic graphics are lovely! I had fun with both the funny dialogues and the game, you did great!
I loved the retro graphics and setting. It's a world I would want to know more about. The gameplay does not feel fully fleshed out though, and it is relly hard to play.
Neat idea, I really love the graphics! I encountered a bug when reloading levels where routers don't propagate the signal. Reloading multiple times seems to fix it.
Really cool idea, I just had some trouble with the respawn. I got soft-locked respawning on an uphill and could kept dying over and over.
I got to shoot people in front of their mates without them complaining, 100% would recommend.
@xwilarg thank you very much! I'm sorry to hear it's not working properly with your keyboard, I will look into it as soon as I can
@rubatotree thank you! I will soon publish an update on itch.io with many new features, including controlling with a real MIDI keyboard! I'm also adding attack/release controls, more wave shapes, a Mono mode, subtractive synthesis and an integrated audio recorder!
Thank you everyone! I'm glad you are having fun with my micro-synth!
@gdman thank you, physical keys fixed it!
@rubatotree @nekuake MIDI keyboard support is here! You can play with your keyboard on the itch.io page!
@discomorphine this is meant to be a little toy to mess around, not to be used in real productions. In the latest update I also added controls to set the duration of attack/release.
@henk sorry to hear that. I'm working to make the sound engine more lightweight, but I never tested it on Linux. I will make sure to take a look at that alternative keyboard layout though!
@jerrywest hahaha damn, LD is great! This morning I did some pretty heavy optimisation work and the crackling sounds should be gone for good!
Thank you @alec-cunningham! The recording system is available on itch.io as a post-jam update!
This looks and sounds fantastic! It's difficult to keep in mind what people said when connecting the photos in the board, would be nice to have some kind of log. Loved it though!
This has to be one of my personal favourites, a very cool kind of weird!
So very nice! I liked the abilities and the music is a banger, well done!
Being able to defend myself by throwing furniture is a pretty cool idea! I also enjoyed all the little puns
