haha password1 The idea of a console is very cool
loved the character designs, but they really lack animation typing commands seems fun but i just started spamming overheat to go past robots, wished to see more unique situations. good potential anyway
Very unique and on theme. I use vim and Linux so I felt very at home
I really liked the console mechanic, I just wish there was less text to read: the tutorial is a bit overwhelming.
I really like the concept of sending these hacking "signals" to enemies! It plays with the theme well, and is very fun from an in-world perspective.
I feel my main issue with this game stems from the repetitive typing of the same hacks. The first time or two I typed something new it was fun, but it becomes tedious rather quickly to nearly pause the game every time I encounter a new enemy. Perhaps once you complete a level, you get the ability to quickly perform that hack without typing it again?
@hammy275 thanks for the feedback! I agree, the repetition gets old, which is why we added the autocomplete, but maybe that wasn’t explained well. We can add a better explanation/cue for that.
Otherwise, I’m thinking maybe it would be cool to give the player an upgrade that allows them to always broadcast a particular signal? That way you could always have one active, or adjust it to suit your needs.
We will think on how to make it less tedious! Thanks!
@kenoshka thanks for trying the game! Yea overheat ended up really strong. It was a lot harder to make enemies and design levels than we thought so they didn’t get as developed as we would’ve liked.
Glad you thought there was some potential, I definitely want to try and make a few more enemies and levels now that the core is done, and see if we can build some more unique situations.
Pretty cool
Having the tab to complete hacks is really helpful. I think we could call up the terminal with enter too, because usually I leave the mouse to type with both hands. And usually when using a terminal to work you avoid using the mouse as much as possible too
love the whole concept and look of this game
@holysparks 100%, we wanted to get Enter working, but because Enter also submits the hack it kept opening and closing on us and we couldn't figure out how to stop it from doing that, lol. I'm sure we can get it working eventually, good suggestion!
Cool little puzzle/combat entry. Overload didn't seem to do anything past the first guy for me. May have been user error. I stuck to overheat and spam staff-fire. Charge also seemed hit or miss. I liked the typing challenge and the final use of spamming multiple learned codes to overwhelm the tower. I wish you could open the hacking console with "enter" too.
Cool art and good idea. Nice game.
It's a pretty cool project. It had a surprising amount of gameplay. Screenshot_6.jpg
Charming game! As someone else mentioned, more variety might be good, as 'overheat' seems to be the best command. I also thought that there is a bit too much text at the beginning and some of it also covered what happened on the screen. For example I didn't see those fireballs coming out of the staff when pressing left click.
A solid conceit, but the audio is pretty abrasive and although the staff isn't meant to feel strong, it does feel pretty janky and unwieldy. More options for using the interesting hack prompt for combat instead of "apply debuff then shoot" would have been nice to see.
Really enjoyed your game — the characters are charming and full of personality, and the music is super приятная and fits the vibe perfectly. If you have time, I’d really appreciate it if you could check out my game too 🙂
Nice entry ! Good character design !
Overload stopped working after stage 1 I don't know if it is intended ?
I love the terminal feature, I tried a lot of word like "heal", "shield", "kill", "destroy", "duck"... and none except the one in the text boxes were working, still hoping for an Easter egg :p
Using hacking as magic is a super cool idea-- and very well executed! I found the sanctum fight pretty hard -- I likely missed a hacking command for it -- but really enjoyed it overall! Also, nice music!
A little clunky typing to attack, but enjoyable. I liked using all the accumulated words to overload the device at the end.
