Great concept, and while it was a little unpolished as you'd mentioned, it was a great time screwing around with all the fun little concepts and the world. Good job - I'd highly advise you try and finish this on your own time, and maybe put it up for sale on itch too.

Great game, but needs some improvments <3

Hey so I want to rate and give you feedback and all, but this requires vulkan to be installed on my computer. I'm on windows 7... tried downloading a vulcan-1.dll but of course that didn't work. Any advice? @copito

copito 2020-04-22 01:55

let me get back to you on that @exevirus I don't have a windows 7 machine here but I'll see if one of my friends has one so we can figure it out. If you're using a Nvidia gpu it seems Nvidia has a driver downloads page https://developer.nvidia.com/vulkan-driver I imagine AMD has an equivalent. I will get back with a better answer tomorrow sorry for the trouble!

I like the concept, made for an interesting tycoon experience, ended up letting the monsters loose, cause I already had the entry fee lol. The art looks nice and the building mechanics are great, I liked that I could place a glass wall without removing the existing wall. Didn't fully understand the door mechanic, but I didn't have many guests. Great Job!

copito 2020-04-22 02:05

thanks @sacredbacon the doors just give you an easy way to transfer things around, like say if you want to move some monsters across the visitors path without the visitors being eaten, or if you want to use a flower to attract some monsters to 1 room then use a different flower to attract them somewhere else you can use doors to block the scent from the flowers. (you can get the same effect by adding and removing walls but doors make it more convenient)

Can't play the game, it says it doesn't found Vulkan-1.dll.

copito 2020-04-22 16:13

hey @dukebot which os are you on?

rexgame 2020-04-22 18:14

i having any fun when i play at the game

laurari 2020-04-22 20:27

I really love the art!! Great job on that part!!! About the gameplay, I god kinda bored after some minutes as I did not know how to increment the income... Maybe a tutorial will help

copito 2020-04-22 21:00

hey thanks @laurari i'll have a think about a tutorial, basically if visitors are happy your reputation increases which increase the rate at which guests come into your zoo. Guests become happy each time they see a monster so to raise your income you need to create a path where the guests see a number of monsters on their wait to the exit.

creamybacon2 2020-04-22 23:25

I played this for way to long. I was more making a gauntlet of horror for the visitors to make it through. Simple simulator game where you make your own fun. my only criticism is there was no sound or music which I'm sure you are aware of and just didn't have time to do. Over all I like your game a bunch! Good work.

eldar 2020-04-23 00:27

I liked the screenshots and written concept of the game a lot and wanted to give it a try, but it won't run in Wine on Mac (that's all I got). Would you happen to know if this is easily fixable, or perhaps can bundle it for Mac without too much effort? :)

copito 2020-04-23 00:34

hey @eldar sorry i don't think i'd have time to make this run on mac at the moment, I'm not even sure the graphics layer it uses is supported on mac and i don't have a mac to build and test it on. Sorry!

ordineu 2020-04-23 00:43

Pretty interesting concept, but as others have said it's a bit lacking in things to do. I loved the old Dungeon Keeper games, so this game felt like it was going for a cool thing! Looking forward to other games you make -- the art in this one is fantastic!

curtamyth 2020-04-23 00:52

I like the idea, and it looks nice. I would like if there was a bit more of it but hey, 72 hours isn't very long to make a full fledged game. This is a nice entry as it is!

vollfeiw 2020-04-23 01:20

I loved the graphism so much, would have love to see what you got in mind and what this would have been with more time in this project

finnthepirate 2020-04-23 13:01

cool concept and love the artwork but I think the game needs a some kind of tutorial and may be an ambient music

lajazuve 2020-04-23 13:58

hello, i was so hyped to test your game ! but it doesnt works on my computer...so a ican't test it. i don"t know if that can help you but here the issue's log :

000000|Startup 005938|Error: vkCreateInstance(&instInf, nullptr, &_instance) Code: VK_ERROR_INCOMPATIBLE_DRIVER(fffffff7) File: D:\Dev\ShortProjects\LDJam46_Prep\Jam\_src\GX\gx.cpp Line: 1972

copito 2020-04-23 14:24

hey @lajazuve which OS / GPU are you using? It might be that you need to update your graphics drivers although it seems from other comments some people have had trouble with the game on windows 7, but i sadly don't have a windows 7 machine available to test.

lajazuve 2020-04-23 14:41

@copito i'm on windows 10 and for the gpu ill check that, thanks for your answer

Hello, I am also interested in Vulkan. Thank you for sharing your sources, this can be a good example and very helpful to have a better understanding of this API.

Keep Vulkan alive ;)
