I would have liked to see some sort of feedback when I was hitting the mushrooms or the enemies to let me know that hitting them multiple times was what I needed to do. Maybe a health bar or something.
It was unfortunate that you ran out of time to make the audio! I bet it'd be so satisfying to get an audio feedback from harvesting and hitting all those shrooomss!! I like it a lot, and the art is super cute too! Good work!
The game was really fun when head to mid, just kept on playin and listen to my own music and chill. mechanic was really fund special adding the cat turret which help me progress a lot! made the game fun and relaxing. the only thing i can say add more ui system for people who started the game. might be little bit confusing but overall really good game.
If game doesn't work for someone (GL_INVALID_OPERATION, opengl error 1252), it means it's running on intel graphics, if you have external/discrete GPU, run on it. Next time try making logs more verbose, it would be hard to debug from it :) Nice game, funny and nicely done. Huge props for making it in c++ and using the tga format :D A little tutorial would help since at first run I just ran away from the starting point and tried to find the mushrooms in the forest. Also it would be nice, if there's no sound, to at least have some graphical effect that you are attacked or your picking the shrooms works, since it requires multiple clicks. But anyway, nice and fun game!
Hey thanks for the feedback @cybek I did originally have a hit feedback animation on the player but i removed it last minute because it interrupted attacking and lead to the player being stun locked too easily which i found really frustrating. there should be a graphical effect from picking the shrooms though (the little bits spawn on the floor then they fly towards you). as to the logs... sorry! :D i also wrote the gl code during the jam.
@copito : oh yea, sounds like it's better that you removed this animation :P But some small red particle or a text of "-1" would be nice I think, however it's a detail since you can see the hearts decreasing. About the shrooms, the particles are visible, but only when you hit the shroom 8-9 times I think? Or maybe every hit gives me a shroom? About the logs, no problem ;) I've used the opengl so I didn't spend more than 1 minute to check this. It was rather a hint for you, if anyone else would have a problem, you couldn't debug it and help other people run your game. But I really appreciate that you used opengl and c++ here, we are rare species here :)
@cybek yeah maybe it would have been nice to have a bit more feedback when you were hit, for clarity you get 1 "shroom" for each particle you collect after destroying a shroom plant. Sorry if that was unclear

This was fun, I really enjoyed the gameplay! I wish the rewards for completing a tier became better the higher up you got, because I reached a point where it was very hard to level up with little reward... But this game was actually really enjoyable, and I thought you did a great job!
The fact that you wrote this in pure C++ is just insane. You did a great job tho! I liked the mushrooms! :D
Very fun! I could play this all day if there were more mushrooms to grow. Having a damage indicator would be great. I'm not sure why there is a path leading away from the pot, I went that way and there was nothing. Awesome game!
thanks @ss9, that's so true about lack of rewards as you level up, and I was really disappointed I didn't have time to balance it better and improve the rewards. It was just a lack of time issue
Really nice game, I'd like to play the complete version (with the audio). I like the art very much, the experience is fun even without much feedbacks.
I like the general idea of the game and also the art style/animations are lovely. After having some cats protecting my field, I felt the game was too easy. There were way too few enemies and this sadly made the game boring after some time. I ran around hoping maybe there was something to explore outside of my cosy cat-shroom fields but didn't find anything. Collecting the shrooms sometimes was a PITA, because they flew around me and felt rather floaty in general.
Sounds, of course, would have added a lot to the game. Nonetheless great game, it was fun to play!
sounds like you might have hit the "monsters stop spawning" bug @skosnowich normally the number of monsters scales up quite a bit by 10 minutes in or so that said the balance isn't ideal. Shrooms flying around you should only happen if your bag is already full, but could also be a bug like everything it's rather an unpolished feature... i did my best with the time i had!
@copito Ah, I see, well the monsters didn't stop to spawn completely, but the numbers were rather low. 10 minutes might be a bit long for a jam game for difficulty to kick in, but balancing jam games in the short time is also my nemesis. Don't worry, the game was pretty fun overall. :thumbsup:
Nice game! Love that you need to plant turrets like plants. The game also has good visuals but sadly there are no sounds. Well done!

This is well done game! I like the character animation! But one thing I really hope this game is... soundtrack or effect. So silent when I played this game, Well, That's all! Thanks for make this game!

interesting, thanks @lizelive I sort of expected this game to be fairly easy to run via emulators etc, as it only uses really basic OpenGL and it was one of my motivators for using gl rather than vulkan as I have in other recent jams. Seems this rationale wasn't really correct!
