Emotional Equilibrium by dapotap 2018-12-04T09:37:21Z
Worked great in browser for me. I sacrificed all my emotions and got a flamethrower. Wish things worked like that IRL.

The retro feel is on point and the the idea is straightforward. The jump is a bit broken while standing near edges so you can work on that a bit since it's the main mechanic. You should also use distance for playing those fountain sounds (hear them when close).
In total, nice game, keep up the good work! :D
The graphics and animations are just awesome but the movement seems a bit clunky, especially the wall jumps. Voice acting is on point! :D
Thanks! Your game looks spanking as well.
@azamatika Chicken's supposed to split into chicken legs and bones but I like your interpretation as well :D
@nekonyo You can actually juggle several items. Give it a try :D
Sorry mate but this ended up quite unfun to play. The movement is very clunky and irritating and the trolls are just all bugged and often unhittable. The theme is also not quite new or interesting.
Don't let this negative review demotivate you, just keep making games and they will get better with every attempt! I suggest you start by making the movement and basic player control "feel good" because it can ruin a otherwise good game.
Good luck in the future!
@cindys-arcade Of course you should submit your game! As I said, keep making games and you will get better! :D
I love the idea but the game isn't really fun for me. Basically: walk to a point, die, start again.
I like the idea of a chessboard FPS, I think it has a lot of potential. Get's a bit repetitive but still was quite fun to play!
Needs some polish here and there but still looks and plays nice.
The game looks polished with nice humor and atmosphere. There's not much gameplay other that mostly following the task list but it was still a fun experience. I like the art, I see you're consistent in you ludum dare entries :P
EDIT: One remark, the controls are a bit inconsistent, you use space, enter and E for confirmation.
The art and whole feel is fantastic, I could see my self buying this game for the art alone. Seems very polished (a few texts and sliders here and there but I guess you didn't have time)
Sound effects work great. Some soviet music would maybe be more fitting :D
I took me two runs to understand whats happening but then I got the hang of it and it became kind of easy. You can basically mass produce humans and just sacrifice them if you get too low on resources. Well, if you don't have a soul of course.
Couple of bugs/remarks: - all numbers in the gui are negative - water consumption seems random at times
All in all, good work guys!
I love this game! Everything looks polished and the idea and humor is great :D I think I like the guy constantly dropping his blue ball thingie most.
My only remark is the movement is a bit floaty. If you make a game where the only mechanics are moving and pressing space, the movement should feel a bit better.
All in all, good job guys!
The game looks beautiful and the whole atmosphere is on point for relaxing after the jam :D I guess that's how you can make your game look with five artists and one poor programmer.
Mechanic wise, it is still just a roll the ball game but it looks pretty :D
I felt like playing a educational game for children based on the little prince. The game is beautiful but the interactions could be smoother (maybe adding some highlighting?).
I laughed my ass of when I heard "Thank you so much".
@solitudedude Yea, the first text box can't be removed by pressing E. You have to go to the boss (door) to remove it. The "press E to continue" here is redundant.
@thomasward Lack of stuff in the level and also sound effects is mostly due to lack of time :( Thanks for the feedback!
@kostasvs UE4 doesn't do 2d well :D
It's a generic unreal win64 build, I have no idea why steam thinks there's VR :o
This is just awesome, probably the best game I have played this jam! Simple, great idea and polished execution. 5 stars!
The art and idea sell this game. I really love this, well done!
Small note, I would probably add a sound effect when moving blocks, just for feedback.
The amount of gameplay elements and levels you managed to do in three days is amazing! I also liked the character sprite :D
The game looks pretty and polished, I could imagine this being a casual mobile game if you a few more elements to the puzzles because it seems to me I am just playing the same level over and over again. Adding sound will lift the game and mood a lot.
Cute game with potential!
It's a beautiful and polished game. Liked the minigames! This would probably look amazing in Unreal Engine with the lighting properly set up.
I don't really get the social experiment thing, maybe it's just me :P
Also, having a crosshair (or just a dot) would really help with interactions.
@zepimppotatoe Yea, we hated the projectiles room when we tested the game :D It sure needs some balancing and better telegraphing of attack moves. Thanks for playing!
@stratcat66 The final room is still kinda broken. No time :(
@mikoziq So many ideas. So little time. :(
I love this idea. Well done!
I loved this game. Even made me search what sub in lua does :D We were also considering a similar game but weren't sure how many non-programmers would understand how it works :/
The art and lighting is very nice. Adding some spooky background music would really add to the mood of the game. Also having some way to influence the aliens other than just run from them would be cool. They could move slower while under the light, or run away from the static level lights.
Anyways, well done!
Game looks nice and plays smoothly. I would like some additional element other than just walking around a maze. Look at "Thomas was alone" for examples :D
Anyways, nice entry, well done!
I wouldn't really call this interesting or innovative but it is definitely well done, super polished and fun to play! Well done for a jam game.
Edit: I now realize you have quite a few artists here but still, good job! :D
The game throws you right in. Took me some time to start getting how it works but then it started to be fun. Well done!
I like the idea and the art is beautiful but I feel like the gameplay could be better. 1. You only see the rocks in your vicinity so there's not much planning or tactics going on but mostly luck. 2. Maybe I just didn't realize it but it seems like no tradeoff in balancing resources. You just get one energy, move and get nutrients. And try to collect enough water and the green thingie. 3. I've played this for more than I am willing to say :D and still am not sure when I lose. It says "don't run out of energy" but I ran out all the time without losing. I also lost with 1 or 2 or 3 roots. Maybe it's just me.
Nice twist on a already weird mechanic. Really high level of polish for a jam game. Well done guys!
What I thought would be a default platformed ended up being a great puzzle game. Well done!
Really nice graphics. I especially like the lights! The detection range for the big fishes seems a bit unpredictable though. Great game overall, well done.
The looks nice and polished and also plays well. Although I'm not quite sure how it fits the theme? :P
Really nice graphics, gameplay feels smooth, overall really nice game. Yet it is lacking something new I like to see on game jams, you played it safe (as did wee :D)
I love the idea an graphics but the movement is super clunky. If you manage to fix it there's great potential! A simple text based level editor would let you create more levels quickly.
Still completed it though. Fun game :D
@nosfer Yup me too, I played the postjam version.
You started with a good idea with great potential to make a fun game yet you didn't really focus on the hamster movement mechanic. Instead you added the hooks which are a completely different mechanic and steal the focus from the hamster. I think you should have focused on the hamster movement and created a few tricky levels where you balanced the hamster in challenging environments.
The art, especially the hamster was great and even though I criticized the hook mechanic it was actually well implemented and fun.
Well this is basically sokoban with mechanics that are literally on the front page of the puzzle script web page. The conveyer belt was a nice little addition and the puzzles were actually challenging to solve.
Keep working on games and joining game jams, your puzzle skills have potential. :D
there wasnt much replayability, maybe if you had a global leaderboard it would be more motivating to replay however, I loved the graphics, hitting animation and the audio. it is a very nice short ldjam game :) great job !
I got a bit bored with just pressing space at the same time, there wasnt any randomization with swinging the blocks and so I didnt find it that challenging... However I do think that with the randomization it would be a pretty fun game. I liked the music and the graphics :)
I found it very abstract and moody.
cute graphics, it was a bit buggy, with platforms falling without me hopping on them. I had fun playing it :)
I liked the idea but I expected to have short emails I will have to speed read and sort. With these super long emails playing the game felt more like a chore than an actual fun game. Loved the graphics and humor though :)
I like the art style but it made judging depth when trying to hit a platform more difficult. I had to go to the comments to see how the game connects to the theme and I'm still not sure I see it :P
Overall, pretty nice game, well done guys.
Using physics to sort stuff was extremely clunky but I had my share of fun :) Well done!
This is by far the most time I have spend playing a game jam game and I've played many, well done guys!
It's polished, it's fun and it's stable. You generally sacrifice at least one or two in game jam games.
There are a few remarks: 1. I didn't get why mineral is used for. 2. I would like the ability to upgrade my buildings because I fill up all the available space quickly and most of it is clone + farm. I just reached some sort of equilibrium where I was waiting for my gas to slowly fill up but all other resources were stable 3. Some random events could make the game more interesting (referring to the "equilibrium moment" from 2.)
Don't take my remarks as criticism because this is extraordinary for a jam game. One more time, well done guys!
I like the atmosphere and the graphic had a amnesia sort of feel. However it was quite laggy and unresponsive and I have a decent PC. Quick tip, having feedback when I go over something interactable with my mouse (visual hightlight, audio cue) would make the game much more enjoyable. I think you definitely nailed the horror game atmosphere :)
