Link isn't working?

feraligatr 2020-10-06 19:26

Can confirm, Link is not working :/ You should also update your description and use a preview screen to gain a little bit attention and more interest :)

msiddeek 2020-10-07 08:55

Link was private :( Added one GIF. Will add some description once I'm off work...

pierre-cilluffo 2020-10-07 10:01

The concept is so cool ! I wish to hear music on this game! It added a lot to the atmosphere :)

But the game have sometimes verys importants lags (I'm on firefox) :(

PS : Jump with the space bar will be more "intuitive"

lexi 2020-10-07 10:09

Great entry! I loved the graphics & audio design. Also the way you slowly introduced the player to new mechanics was great.

frogravity 2020-10-07 10:11

Incredible game! The mechanic was really interesting, and the character animations were really good too. You managed to make lots of levels and puzzles, a rare feat for a game jam. The physics were a bit weird and my computer couldn't run it well (there were lots of FPS drops), so maybe you could add a standalone version? Other than that, great entry!

indigo 2020-10-07 11:28

This is very cool! One of the best implementations of the theme I've seen so far. The puzzles are creative and cool, and the main mechanic is very fun. Unfortunately, the game suffers from glitchy physics (collisions with your past self don't work properly when he's moving) and platforming problems (you can't jump two platforms higher when you steer left or right while jumping, which feels very unnatural and weird). I could see this becoming a great indie game with issues like these fixed, though!

msiddeek 2020-10-08 15:55

The bad FPS is giving everyone a bad experience it seems :(

shubart 2020-10-08 16:20

The best gameis saw until now. The puzzle game is solid, the sound FX give a nice mood to the game. The sprites are supercool. Congrats

sengi 2020-10-08 16:23

Absolutely lovely work! I had no trouble with FPS, fortunately, so can judge it objectively. You've catched the theme great and did lots of work for a given time, also I've liked the learning curve of this gem. Personally my favorite game so far.

a333 2020-10-09 06:49

That's absolutely awesome. I haven't had much problems with FPS (I was too enamored by mechanics :), but is it expected to see black screen after the emerge level? Hero raises the staff, I hear the rewind sound, and everything goes black (although I can press R and hear the restart). I've played on Firefox, and there are some texture errors in console.

icxon 2020-10-09 07:55

Love the atmosphere and the mystery. Here is my playthrough, you will see some minor issues I had with some of the levels. Keep it up!

guimoliveira 2020-10-09 19:08

Very unique idea. Nice game. Good job! :)

mackandrius 2020-10-09 19:23

Absolutely brilliant concept and interesting take on the theme that works very well with it. Very smart mechanic, good job. I think you should expand on this for sure. Just a thought, feel free to ignore, but since the loop area has stop/play/record signs and stuff, I thought perhaps the item being used could be a camera instead of a staff hah. In any case, amazing entry!

pedrohph 2020-10-09 19:25

Amazing game! Great concept! Good job!

flawed 2020-10-09 19:51

Everything about this game is just about perfect. The graphics, the mechanics, the audio, the designs... All five stars, no doubt.

mohmehdi 2020-10-09 20:24

i really enjoyed this one the characters remind me to price of persia 2 'dehaka' , idk if it was on perpuse but one thing , music stopped in middle of game maybe bug and also it slows down after a while (i played on web) it really worth adding more stuff and more polish . hope u win

smiley405 2020-10-09 20:46

good game, loved the game atmosphere.

marc-antoine-girard 2020-10-09 21:02

Wow! This game had a very unique take on a very used concept. So unique, I'm actually amazed. I really hope you push the idea forward, because I really believe it has a lot of potential. The controls where hard to master as well as the mechanics, but they didn't feel out of place. It just felt like I was new and could master it soon enough. The graphics were impeccable, with a clean and very cohesive art style. It just really felt like a game. Congrats! 5 stars all the way!

msiddeek 2020-10-09 21:12

@a333 I've been trying to reproduce those errors from other testers where the screen goes black or the sound gets muted, but I can't :(

@icxon Thanks a lot for the vid man! Learned a lot!

@mackandrius Yeah a camera definitely makes more sense. I'm sure if I had thought about that I would have gone with it instead. I wanted to do a gun like from Portal but for time instead of space, at least that's how it was inspired.

@mohmehdi I'm so sad about the lag. It just ruined the game for a lot of people.

@marc-antoine-girard I hope you did not give me that rating because you think I'm 18, because I'm 28 lol. You probably found a different person :)

Also, thanks a lot for the feedback everyone!

marc-antoine-girard 2020-10-09 21:20

@msiddeek Hahaha nah I rated the game only don't worry! I had too many tab open, I got mixed up :)

mohmehdi 2020-10-09 21:49

@msiddeek its not ruined at all its an amazing game just need a loop of test and debug ♥

anant-ahuja 2020-10-09 22:49

Solid game. Took me a few minutes to understand the mechanics but really liked the puzzles. The music was cool too.

joh 2020-10-10 05:58

Very good! Some performance, issues & perhaps not clear how to use power straight away, but its easy enough to figure out through trial error (which the game lends itself to quite well). Rise was too hard though, if it wasnt for the playthrough in comments reassuring me, I would have given up. It was a very good idea, well executed and pretty too!

Gameplay and production value are top notch tough, this is a very strong contender for sure! Amazing job!

mikoziq 2020-10-10 21:39

Snappy movement, very interesting looping mechanincs and intriguing level design! Reminds me a bit of Another World scenery and mood, which is of course a compliment. Would love for the difficulty spike to be less aggressive (or maybe I am just stupid haha). Job well done! Keep up the good work!

arad-hamidsamiee 2020-10-11 04:46

This game is sooo underrated. There is a lore, there are two endings, the pixel art is pretty, the gameplay is innovative, the music is beautiful, effects are cool, I mean what else to expect from a game? I'd definitely play it as a full game. Unlike most games, this one can have a future.

duke 2020-10-11 11:06

That was awesome! Needs a lot more comments ratings. This really almost felt like a finished product. The art and soundtrack created a great mood already and the game play mechanics complemented that perfectly. I'm not the biggest of such time loop based puzzle platformers, but yours really grew on me :) The levels were finely adjusted to become more difficult with each level or even introduce new techniques on the fly. I loved finding out about the "climb" mechanic with the time loop. Really satisfying to find out how that works on my own. Like I said already, the art and music were beautiful, just some of the sound effects seemed out of place, too loud and obnoxious. But that's really all I can say in terms of criticism. You even got cutscenes with dialog going... amazing!

Congrats. Definitely the best of the time loop based puzzle platformers I played so far this jam.

edalbung 2020-10-11 13:17

Very cool game, it reminded me a lot the games like Another World or Flashback!

Here are my feedback:

_Positive points - Clever usage of the theme with the rewind sceptre - Good pixel art - Clever puzzles - Good SFXs and ambient music

_Negative points - Low framerate which makes the controls responsiveness a little slow - The jump felt a bit heavy for me

Overall: Very nice work!

kaldrin 2020-10-11 13:25

Congrats for this entry it's really cool! It works well, no bugs, gameplay responds well, really neat, and it looks good! I liked the idea of being helped by a replay of yourself, you executed it very well, and actually my team and me had a similar idea but we executed it a completely different way! I enjoyed playing it, and the ending was cool! Nicely adjusted levels and good use of the mechanic, nice difficulty growth, very well done :)

michaelaranda 2020-10-11 13:51

This might be my favorite game I've seen so far, and I'm super impressed that it was done by just one person! Awesome job! My only complaint is that the jump feels very fast compared to the relatively slow horizontal movement. By the end of the game, though, I had mostly forgotten that it bothered me. I'd love to play a longer version of this!

onkel-mo 2020-10-11 17:28

That was really awesome! Took me some time to fully grasp how the recording works, but I really like the mechanic. Hinting in early rooms what you'll need later was a nice touch. The music was also really good. The only little gripe that I have is that even if you gete what you'll need to do in the "evade" room, there is a lot of trial and error involved in getting the timing right. Still it's a reely great game and I could have gone on for quite some time longer.

elysiagriffin 2020-10-11 21:43

Had a blast. Movements, visuals, audio and story are ON POINT!

One of the best entry!

gaming-night 2020-10-12 21:26

waou, amazing game, level design is perfect, very nice job :)

garys 2020-10-12 21:47

This was beautiful... The graphics were lovely and the ambient soundtrack fit it perfectly. Really good take on this mechanic I think. Our game is very similar conceptually, but I really like how you're limited in terms of how long you can record a loop for, and love how the length can be dictated by gameplay itself, rather than just letting the player arbitrarily decide (e.g. using the mirrors to bounce the portal around longer, giving you more time to record). The physical window in which the recorded player can move is a nice touch too... this is all just really damned good. Well done!

crazyrems 2020-10-12 21:49

Wow, the game really shines by it’s quality and the atmosphere. I really want to know what comes next like who’s this guy at the end? Why the world did collapse? Special mention to the music which really settles the mood.

msiddeek 2020-10-12 22:12

SPOILER: @crazyrems there's an alternate ending based on what you do on the last monster screen. It might answer that question a little bit :)

rodobodolfo 2020-10-13 02:06

wow! fantastic game!! it was perfectly executed and the visuals are great. On web version the frame rate is quite bad unfortunately

charlotte-raymond 2020-10-13 07:46

Really lovely game with well executed mechanics, cool audio and a good take on the theme. I had no issue with framerate thankfully though did get stuck relatively early on, in the second "video record" room. Still really enjoyed this though!

fabula-rasa 2020-10-13 11:16

Really fun to play! I liked the mechanics very much. It took a bit of experimentation to figure out what is actually recorded - but experimentation and figuring things out is part of the fun!

Levels were not overly complicated but fun to figure out and the platforming elements were not as devious as I initially thought  When I first saw the level when you have to scale the wall, I was like "No way I will be able to do that!". But it proved easier to execute than I thought - that's a huge tribute to how well you implemented the controls in this game. Awesome.

Graphics and music are also solid and create a nice atmosphere. Story is cryptic but it's fitting - lots left to player's interpretation.

The game feels polished and made with love. Really well done! 5/5!

super-hadoken 2020-10-13 13:11

Great game, polished with excellent graphics. Innovative take on the loop mechanic and clever puzzles. I don't know what the demon was so upset about, I left him a copy of the staff in the previous room.

Edit: Just found out the alternative ending. Amazing job.

neowhoru 2020-10-13 13:13

This is really great - i really enjoyed it and a really good match of the theme.

celuloide 2020-10-13 14:22

This was awesome! really well done, I just don't have anything to nitpick tbh. Good work!!

pfs 2020-10-13 14:42

The amount of gameplay elements and levels you managed to do in three days is amazing! I also liked the character sprite :D

fax 2020-10-13 15:36

Really great job on this game. Congratulations.

thewustache 2020-10-13 15:52

I love this take on the record/playback mechanic! The fact that the shot determines both location and duration of the recording feels very elegant. The early levels explain the mechanic very well and the later ones pose really clever puzzles.

The game is incredibly polished overall. The story is simple, but quite effective and fits the dreamy vibe of the backing track. One of my favorite entries!

cosmicpickle 2020-10-13 20:59

I loved everything about this. The core concept and mechanic are really well though out. The gameplay is fun and interesting. The idea is very original in that, while there were some entries that explored similar concepts, this one has done by far the best job with it. The story is intriguing. The art style and the sound set the mood perfectly. And it has multiple endings. Great job! Easily one of the best if not the best game I have played on here.

eretzoum 2020-10-14 08:11

Nice mechanics! It took some time for me to understand but the art animations and sound made me give it a shot. A controller support would be a nice addition. Overall, a great entry!

tomycase 2020-10-14 13:28

Very good game, the loop mecanism can be confusing at first but once you pass the learning, it is a very clever gameplay; graphisms are simple but effective, same for the audio ambiance, the fact that there seems to be a background story add a little something to the progression, excellent work, I'd be down to see this becoming a full game one day

gonzalol 2020-10-14 16:29

Amazing game! I love the art, characters and backgrounds, also the world you can imagine behind them. The mechanics are great, quite hard to domain at the beginning. It fits the theme perfectly. I could play a longer version of this.

coryru 2020-10-15 03:20

I was not expecting that demon boy to turn into a whole bunch of green demon souls and murder me... 10/10 would get murdered again! Seriously. Good work! Well Done!

zachary-barbanell 2020-10-15 04:08

Totally the most interesting take on "puzzle platformer with time travel" I've seen. Very cool.

bob174 2020-10-15 05:14

Man this was such as great idea. It was both extremely fun and also challenging, but it ramped up the challenge so it never felt overwhelming. There were really unique ways to solve each puzzle. I am extremely impressed with the game that you made specially given the fact that you did it alone! Great job, great game!

shootingstaa 2020-10-15 05:47

Cool mechanism you have! And the visual effect of recording is nicely fit with the game!

pronomicalartist 2020-10-15 08:38

incredible to even think this is a jam game, very well done! All the puzzles feel original and I really enjoyed the sound in the game!

Also I definitely see the art inspiration and some mechanics borrowed from Celeste! Very cool.

vlandemart 2020-10-15 11:41

Straight up amazing. Somehow I got two endings, though I still don't know how I did that

msiddeek 2020-10-15 12:08

@vlandemart that's probably the "bad" ending haha. There's a bit of black screen for suspense and it's pretty much intentional. There's another one if you save the purple guy.

vlandemart 2020-10-15 13:12

Nah, I meant that I finished game 2 times: first time I saved my dudderino and we ran away somehow, but second time he got caught. Still no idea how I did that, I don't think I did something special this time

msiddeek 2020-10-15 19:33

@vlandemart I didn't execute this well then :( One time you avoided the monster, and the other you made him go into the portal.

exilegl 2020-10-16 00:58

Beautiful aesthetic and mood! (Kinda reminds me of knytt with the whole atmosphere). Definitely would like to see more - this could be a commercial game. :)

vlandemart 2020-10-16 10:33

@msiddeek well, actually you've executed everything gameplay-wise very well. I've had the same idea for a game, but instead of your clone, you had second character you can record actions for. But as it turned out, nobody got that idea and played the game differently.

So I think that you did some great gamedesign here.

cagibi 2020-10-16 19:52

Best puzzle mechanics I've encountered in this jam. You did a really good job on the atmosphere as well, with lots of polish.

honest-dan 2020-10-17 01:00

This was a very enjoyable game - recommended by Elysia Griffin! I think I got the good ending, which was nice. Wish I had some explanation to the story you intended to tell!

msiddeek 2020-10-17 02:17

@honest-dan thanks for playing! I went for a typical story of "ancient weapon in cave, hero decides between the risk of unearthing it vs the peace of sealing it forever". I was intentionally light on exposition to leave room for interpretation, but I guess my execution still left something to be desired :)

ded 2020-10-17 16:00

best game for me so far... great atmosphere, graphics and sound. Gameplay mecahnics are clever & relatively easy to understand... I completed the better (hero survives) ending first and it's felt a little anti-climactic and disappointing :( Than I read that there is a second ending, so I played again and the bad ending is much more interesting, good job.

rayriver 2020-10-17 16:28

Really interesting game, though it's a little difficulty for me  Anyway, nice work!

meenakshi 2020-10-19 15:09

Nice game.. I had fun playing it

euix 2020-10-19 17:58

I would love to see an expanded version with more story. The atmosphere was fantastic and there's clearly a lot of potential for puzzles/mechanics. The tutorial was almost clear enough for me but not quite there; the core idea that the window of time was related to the duration of the projectile was lost on me until a little over halfway through.

martynas 2020-10-19 21:45

Incredible, best one yet!

ddrkirbyisq 2020-10-20 01:10

Very nice. :)

wendel-scardua 2020-10-20 14:23

I think yours was the most innovative take on this "interacting-with-past-selves action puzzle" sub-genre I've seen on this LD. I'll have to try getting the other end later.

Edit: just got the bad ending as well

amar-ravi 2020-10-21 15:59

Man this is amazing! What a good game! So polished, the mechanics work really well, some really good level design. Keep up the good work! I also really like the minimalistic approach to the tutorial. The puzzle works well, although I feel like I didn't solve it in the most elegant of ways, really solid entry

gamescodedogs 2020-10-21 16:01

That's an awesome one! Great job

kuro 2020-10-21 16:34

Unique gameplay and atmosphere. I have no nit-picks. I've added your game to my list of inspiring games from LD47. Very well done! Do you plan on uploading the music somewhere, so I can play it time to time? .)

le-don 2020-10-21 18:16

Great game! I appreciate the solutions at the itch page, as I felt the difficulty might be ramping up a little fast, as I needed some time to get comfortable with the main mechanic.

neowedge 2020-10-21 18:51

WoooooooO!!!!! Great game!! I love the mechanic and level design. Graphics are nice, and audio fits good. Awesome job!!! :)

superunknown 2020-10-22 14:44

I cant believe how good this game is. Excellent job. Really hard to believe it was done in 3 days...blows me away. I had a lot of fun and this is the only straight 5.0 game I have rated. Very well done. Yall should certainly follow this up...I would buy this on steam no doubt.

matootsy 2020-10-23 12:05

Whaou! 72 hours to make a so polish and clever game! Congratulation! It took me a long time to understand the mechanic, I didn't understood that the record start when you begin to throw the ray. But then I enjoyed the variety of level you made. I was blocked a long time on the "Evade" Level. Then the "Reflect" one was easy. The good thing is that the order to push the doors buttons is not so important because there's a loop ^^ Very clean direction and implementation. All is perfect to me. The mood, the pixel art, movement, music... One of the best entry i have seen.

tamail 2020-10-23 16:27

This entry is awesome! It was quiet hard to know how exactly does the recording mechanics work but once I got it, it was fun - super polished, well thought through... Also, the graphics and everything were so good! Awesome job!

kallthar 2020-10-25 00:24

I love the work you put in details.. Like learning levels and gradually increasing complexity. Lot of puzzle design as well for a ludum dare. Great job! For 72hrs this is incredible result. You should be proud.

zoomer 2020-10-26 19:05

How you've done that in 72 hours is beyond me but this game was really good in every aspect possible. Loved the way how loops worked and enjoyed every single bit of it

stefan-b 2020-10-26 22:51

Cool take on the theme. Interaction with your ghost sometimes felt a bit squishy but overall fun to play. We had a similar idea of ghosts of your past, even though we went a route of spawning many instead of only recording one. The limited scope of the record beam gives a nice twist to it
