LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Grab Your Nutz by Budaniel 2020-10-13T13:37:18Z

Really nice entry. Everything is a bit too fast paced at times and I feel I have no time for reaction. But the game is funny and entertaining, the sound effects and music are nice. Overall a very good game.

TANKNAT by icxon 2020-10-06T23:08:53Z

I absolutely loved it! The gameplay was fun and engaging, the theme is greatly covered. The graphics and the audio complement each other. It feels like a complete game. Great job!

Debugger by wdebowicz 2020-10-08T21:16:21Z

This was really cool and original I enjoyed it a lot. I like how the music speeds up. Very snappy controls. And the idea of making the level with the game code - very meta. Great job!

Core Defense by JCMonkey 2020-10-05T10:04:28Z

This is a really nice modern take on Space Invaders. Love the art and the fact that every type of enemy is visually distinguishable. It was fun to play. I liked how the soundtrack further emphasised the topic by being a very short and noticable loop. The difficulty scales very well. All in all great entry.

Looper Hell by Dubgron 2020-10-13T12:48:57Z

This was really fun. I eventually managed to survive more than a minute. It uses the theme perfectly to bring a new meaning to the words bullet hell. Controls feel good. I needed one playthrough though to realize what exactly I needed to protect, though. Was it the dots in the middle of the circles or the whole circles. I didn't even notice the grey filled circle for some reason. But maybe it is just me, because once I saw it it was obvious. Anyway - a really good game. I enjoyed it a lot.

Tempus Locus by MSiddeek 2020-10-13T20:59:35Z

I loved everything about this. The core concept and mechanic are really well though out. The gameplay is fun and interesting. The idea is very original in that, while there were some entries that explored similar concepts, this one has done by far the best job with it. The story is intriguing. The art style and the sound set the mood perfectly. And it has multiple endings. Great job! Easily one of the best if not the best game I have played on here.

Pyramid Loop by joewan 2020-10-08T08:31:13Z

It is just a really great concept! I loved everything about it. Except that it was jam length. I would gladly play a full game like this. Especially if it is on mobile. Great job.

NightmESCHER by Rodrigo DenĂºbila 2020-10-15T20:42:43Z

This is a really great use of the topic. The gameplay is interesting. And the level design is great. I can see this growing into a full game of increasingly illogical and dreamlike levels where you are trying to escape from a dream world. Great job!

360 by stuffed wombat 2020-10-05T08:41:21Z

This was amazing. More a form of art than a game but really good. It captures the theme perfectly. It is very moody. The graphics and audio are very well done. Also very original.

Mystic Dungeon & Mighty Mustache by namnam 2020-10-07T10:09:34Z

I had a lot more fun with this than I initially thought I would. It is funny and witty. The graphics are awesome. The small touches like the screen shaking when you get hit are so good. I actually finished it and had a lot of fun doing it. If there is one thing I would change is a more obvious indication that the weaponsmith and the tailor each give you aitems for two separate slots (sword and shield, band and boots). If you are not paying much attention like me it is easy to miss that you can have both. I actually beat most of the game (minus the final room) without getting boots. This was a blast though, good job!

Hoop Knight by lectvs 2020-10-13T08:44:20Z

This was lovely. Another Knight with an unconventional weapon. The core gameplay mechanic is simple but very interesting. The game is very funny. The theme is obviously very well met as you are literally stuck in a loop. The graphipc are really nice and even the music and sound effects are really good. It feels like the first chapter of a finished game. Great job!

Edit: Also I loved that there is actually a boss there. And a fun one at that!

Loading: The Game by Wakobu 2020-10-13T16:21:09Z

This is so funny and original. The gameplay is fun and it takes just the right number of tries to get used to and beat the game, without ever becoming frustrating. The graphics are actually just right for the job. The sound effects are great. All in all, awesome entry.

Oplo by Harry Alissavakis 2020-10-12T09:19:53Z

This game is lovely! The gigly graphics are very cute and fun to watch. The puzzles are interesting and the game difficulty scales very well. The music and sounds match the game very well. And there are a lot of levels. I actually got to level 12 and lost. I might play again later. One thing I was missing is a "Restart game" button to reset the game if I make a mistake and loose health early on. But this was only until I got the hang of the mechanics. Very fun game. Great job!

Save The Prince by AVAVT 2020-10-11T11:02:26Z

I loved it. It is fun and engaging. You can play it as simple or as complicated as you want. I love how you can keep going around until you hit the right tile. The artstyle is great as well. Good job!

Dude Ranch by ColeSlaughter 2020-10-16T08:05:19Z

This was a hillarious game. The topic was respected in a really interesting way. The graphics are ridiculous. The sound and music fits perfectly. One thing - I don't know how you people get to 4000 points. Best I can do is 1400ish. I found a small bug (may have been reported already). When you pull in a guy, sometimes he gets stuck really close to you and you can keep smashing the mouse buttons which flips the guys from one side of you to the other. You keep getting money and you can't ever actually catch the guy. Anyway, amazing work guys!

Loop Lock Malfunction by GuitarBro 2020-10-12T07:58:26Z

I enjoyed this game a lot. The graphics and sound are amazing. The gameplay idea is really fun. I went through the feedback and I see people have already mentioned the camera. So yeah that is the only thing that I didn't love. I actually have the same feedback for the camera in my game  , so I get how it can be difficult and time consuming to get the camera just right.

Time Ghosts by healthire 2020-10-05T12:30:13Z

I loved it. The core mechanic is very well implemented and the puzzles are very engaging. The final two lamps were tricky to get. Also I will probably experiment later with trying to change the path of my past selves by activating teleporter pads with my present self. I thought it was so cool when I did that by acciden. Graphics were very cute. The theme was very well executed. If there was one thing I liked less was that the sounds were too loud and getting a bit annoying after a while. But I did play it for 20 minutes :D. Great game!

Shooty Loops by AntaresValdemar 2020-10-06T07:59:55Z

I loved the game. I didn't read through all of the feedback so sorry if I am repeating someone. First off what's up with that sick UI. I love the hand drawn aesthetic. The music fits great and the graphics are nicely made. As for the gameplay - it is fun and engaging. I only have two issues with it. First at some points it is hard to say whether the debris are too close for you to shoot at them. Sometimes it is fine - you see them cliping through the crosshair, but othertimes, it seems like you are gonna hit, but don't. And the second thing is, I realize the form of time limit you place (loops remaining: Num) is to further emphasise the theme, however, I think the theme is pretty well used otherwise in this game and there is no need for it to be "loops remaining", personally for me it was kind of vague, and initially I didn't even notice it and was thinking "a time limit would be good in this game". I think something like "Remaining fuel:" that visibly thicks down and gives you a better sense of how much time you have left would be better. Other than that, again, I really enjoyed the game!

GunTron by neowhoru 2020-10-05T10:35:58Z

I liked the game overal. It was enjoyable and fun to play. To me I didn't really feel the loop though. The rooms are a bit too similar even when I didn't take the right exit because I missed the hint. Making rooms too visually different is hard in such a short time though (I struggled with a similar thing myself) and you did put numbers. Other than that I think the game was really good.

NEONWISE'89 by fmdkdd 2020-10-13T13:14:02Z

Very cool idea. The art and the audio fit perfectly together with the theme. The gameplay is fun and challenging. For me though, at the beggining wasn't clear enough what I had to do. I circled around the goal, crashed into it, tried to gover the whole dotted line etc. Once I figured it out - really fun game!. Good job!

LO2OP by MrWahloh 2020-10-06T07:38:42Z

Very original and matches the theme perfectly, good sound and graphics. A little too difficult for my taste, but that is not the game's fault. All in all good game.

MarblesLoop by Talia 2020-10-05T13:54:56Z

Very pleasant color scheme. Cool audio effects. Overall a nice game.

Saisons by Gaming Night 2020-10-14T08:42:17Z

This was great. The world feels big and alive. The graphics are really really beautiful. I love the style. The music and sound effects are spot on. The atmoshpere is great. The gameplay itself is a narrative driven experience which I like and the main mechanic ties into all that perfectly. At some point I just sat at the campfire to play the lute. Very relaxing experience. I did see the ending coming, but this doesn't take away anything from the game. It reminds me of The Messenger and Outer Wilds which in itself is a compliment. One very small thing I noticed - the scene with the campfire is very dark and the text is har to read - maybe make it white just for that scene? Anyway, this is as much constructive critisism as I have. I loved everything else. Great job!

Loop Jumper by Xacur 2020-10-04T23:48:29Z

I loved this. It was very fun (after my sleepy mind finally figured out what to do :D). The graphics and the audio fit nicely together. I don't think the game was meant to be moody or humorous, but I found the way the robots were moving very funy. The theme is excelently followed. I reallized that after getting stuck and being like: "Hey! I can't get out of this! I am stuck... in... a... loop. !!!" Good job friend.

TRiXIT by tulipekoni 2020-10-05T07:02:28Z

I liked it. As someone said there is a game like this that exsists, and on inovation, this is nothing new. However, it fit the theme perfectly, the graphics and the music create a nice mood. A bit overboard with the postprocessing for my taste. I really liked how the rings start bouncing after a certain point. Didn't get very far though.

Loop the Poop by Merrow 2020-10-05T12:39:14Z

This is hillarious. Also more fun than I expected initially. The sound effects are perfect.

Hold "A" To Win! by 420blazeit 2020-10-12T10:30:37Z

This hits a spot dude. Great job and observations on the gaming industry. Sound and graphics were good. The idea was brilliant. The controls although not the focus of the idea felt snappy and on point. Great entry!

Impact Juggling by TheWustache 2020-10-11T11:29:00Z

Fun game. Great use of the theme. It IS hard though. I couldn't get more than 500 points. But I liked it a lot. Good job!

Creed by dimlight 2020-10-09T15:02:20Z

It was a great game. The level design is very good (though I personally didn't finish the last level). The artsyle is great and the gameplay is snappy and precise. The one thing I didn't love was the music. I guess it is just personal prefference, because it did fit the game. Again it feels like a very polished game, especially for a LD build. Great job!

Tower Lord: Sword Loop Saga by hexkritor 2020-10-07T11:29:21Z

This is objectively a great game. The audio and graphics are lovely. It is very humorous. The theme is observed nicely. And it is unlike anything I have seen here. I just couldn't get the controls though, sometimes the guys would move when I press, other times - not so much. I felt like it might be some sort of a rythm game, but I have never played a rythm game before. But that is just me. That aside it was a solid game. Great job.

Meteoroboros by Gogani 2020-10-07T13:14:02Z

This was soo fun. And the ending was really funny as well. Nice controls, nice graphics. I liked it a lot. Also... Couldn't beat your high score (for now :D ). Got to 13000.

LoopChan by Kaish 2020-10-11T15:57:47Z

Overall - a really fun game. I enjoyed and beat all but the last 2 levels. The graphics are really cute. The gameplay is interesting and inovative. I honestly haven't seen something similar here. On occasions it seem to let me pass at a wrong time (e.g. jumped at an overhead block but didn't kill me). And the 14th level contained too much waiting for my taste. I understand that this is done, so I can see the sequence before going, so maybe it is just me. But anyway - great game!

The Ribbon by Fax 2020-10-07T10:14:17Z

This was such a fun game. The controls were snappy. The vaporware graphics were so nice. The music was relaxing and in a strange way matched perfectly (even with the frantic last level). The levels were designed awesomely. I played all of it and wanted more. One thing I couldn't figure out, because I missed the hint is when can you destroy the enemies. I thought it was jumping on them, but sometimes it worked, most of the times it didn't. I figured I must have missed something. Anyway, great game, with a few visual touch ups like particles, post-processing and a few more levels, this has a potential to be a great full game. (Though I gotta say it feels complete as it is now)

Paper Planes by SamDemaine 2020-10-07T13:31:21Z

The flow of this game is perfect. It feels really smooth. The gameplay is smooth. The simplistic graphics are charming and make it feel alive. It is also challenging enough. I suck at it actually (my average is 5, got to a highscore of 11), but it is so fun. Great game.

GUNWYRM by Saturnyoshi 2020-10-14T08:01:26Z

Very impressive. The graphics are amazing. The sound is very good too. The gameplay is interesting, fun and polished. I did find it quite challenging. Great job.

Clone Arena by GrizzliusMaximus 2020-10-07T09:03:17Z

This was a really fun game. I was impressed by the snappy controls. It's original, the artstyle is great and the music is fitting. The only issue I had is with the top three platforms moving in a circle in the upper part of the arena. When I jump up the camera jerks up and it is impossible to see the other two platforms. Tried it like 50 times and gave up. Maybe I just need to git gud. I do think the jerky and dynamic camera fits the game, however in that particular case a little less vertical lookahead might be better, so you can actually see where you are jumping. Other than that - amazing game.

Re-Slash by Croxel Studios 2020-10-07T12:30:51Z

This was simply amazing. Great mechanics. The puzzles were interesting and really satisfactory once you solved them. I loved that there are optional items to collect. Got all but the last level and all but the llast two crystals. It was extremely fun. The only issue I had was the glowing swords and shields. While they fit great into the artsyle, they weren't easy on the eyes at all.

Bhoot && Toobh by pune007 2020-10-14T13:56:22Z

Well done. Great gameplay. The minimalistic artstyle and the contrasting colors are really nice. And it is a really original idea. Most of the levels I played were very well balanced, but the one in the screenshot felt a bit too difficult with only an extremely tiny margin for error. But that may only mean that I need to git gud

Anyway - great game. BhoothAndToobh.PNG

Loopfield by MikoziQ 2020-10-05T07:41:01Z

I played this more than I thought I would. Got 32000 points. I liked it a lot. Very original. Fits the theme well. The graphics are great. It has a lot of potential. One thing I think would benefit the game a lot is if you make the speed of the asteroids and powerups consistent with the score. By that I mean keeping it random to some extend, but starting slow and getting faster with score increase. As it is now at the beginning the game feels very difficult and then starts feeling very easy. Other than that loved it.

Roll, Turn, Repeat by Akromaly 2020-10-13T22:53:18Z

I loved it. Beautiful game. I like how you took the time to add particles, post processing and all that. The level design is nicely done. The music is relaxing and pleasant to listen to. The theme is used very well. I was dissapointed when it was over, wished I had like 150 more levels preferably on my phone. Great entry!

EvoLoop by GroundDoon 2020-10-12T09:41:19Z

I liked the idea a lot. The music and the graphics are really nice as well. Very innovative too. I think that is the issue - when you have something so different from what anyone has seen, more explanations may be needed. I managed to get the timing of the bugs after a couple of tries, but I do think the diffence between the max and min speed they go needs to be smaller. However my biggest issue is that the seed keeps growing to a point where the red indicator on the right gets a half yellow top and then it stops, my Enzymes run out and I loose. Everytime. I couldn't figure out how to progress. I tried a few times. I did like your idea though. I think with a little gameplay tweaks and explanations this can be a great game.

proceed by anchorlight 2020-10-06T20:37:39Z

I like it a lot. The graphics surprised me in a good way. Very trippy. The sounds, the graphics all contributed to the final mood. The idea itself is amazing, i loved it. I also liked how each loop added to the information you had to work with. I am not sure, however, whether I beat the game. At some point I noticed the red ball behind the boxes, and started clicking on it. It made noises and flashes and then dissappeared in all subsequent loops. At the end the room still complained that I had lost the, box but led to a different (longer) version of the video and then the game closed. It was still an interesting and entertaining, exploratory experience. Great job!

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-05T10:41:20Z

Yep the camera is kinda shaky, the main reason being, I didn't use Cinemachine. :D That is because Cinemachine's confiner, cannot properly confine a perspective camera's screen edges. So I tried to make my own script that does a simplified job. So yep, it needs a bit of work. The idea to avoid recentering might actually help a lot. Thanks.

@eriku As to the key confusion. I understand - I made two pickable items that have the same pentagon shape, which is a bad game design decision. If you picked up a blue one, it was just a power up that shows you the way in a room with switched up exits. I realized it might be mistaken with the key (which is orange yellow) way too late. Thanks for the feedback.

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-06T16:38:19Z

@anchorlight Thanks for the in depth review friend! I am really glad you finished it. I totally agree for the ambience. I would have loved to put in some background music as well. But unfortunately no time left. I am glad you liked it thanks.

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-12T07:03:36Z

@icxon Thanks for playing. It was interesting to watch your playthrough.

I really regret not having time to fix the prompt in the central room. It should not appear until you have enough crystals.

Also there was a plan to make the clues more understandable than a bunch of particles. But that would have taken too much time as well.

And yeah, it would have been nice if I could have done at least a few more levels to play around with the full move set.

Anyway, this was very interesting and useful to me. So thanks again.

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-12T19:31:46Z

@endurion Thanks! For the fullscreen issue, I had the same thing - runs fine in editor, runs good in windowed build but lags in fullscreen. Turned out this only happens if I have Unity Editor open for some reason. Maybe it is the same case for you? I gave up on trying to debug it though... Spent way too much time on that.

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-14T07:30:22Z

@theogen Thanks. The fact that it reminds you of Ori makes me really happy, as it is one of my favourite games and primary inspiration.

@keyurrana @flying-dog-fish Thanks! You are completely right about the particles - most people are used to particles being part of the scenery. I thought of something similar to what KeyurRana said - make small versions of the particles follow you around until you reach the place where they should show you the way and then transform them into the wind before the player's eyes. Unfortunatelly not enough time to implement it.

@mrbamboo Thanks for playing! I just wish I had enough time to put in the parallax backgrounds and forgrounds to all levels.

Tunnels by CosmicPickle 2020-10-25T23:22:02Z

@coleslaughter Thanks for playing and for the feedback. I had a lot of fun watching the playthrough. Also didn't even realize I didn't upload screenshots. Eh, two days left. Better late than never I guess

Time Saver by Daniikk1012 2020-10-13T08:32:53Z

Very cool mechanic. It is really fun and surprisingly tactical to play. Reminds me a lot of Katana Zero. And this is a a very good thing. The graphics are really great. The theme was followed very well. I didn't love the sound effect at the beginning of each loop, a bit too sharp for me. But then again it fit the game very well and was reminiscent of Blade Runner. All in all - a great entry!

Loop Deleter by Zachary Barbanell 2020-10-07T21:08:11Z

Very nice game. The concept is very original. The graphics work great with it. The level design is really good. The puzzles are difficult (in fact my sleepy brain is struggling enough for me to decide that I have played enough for now :D). Great job!

Aztec Ride by Idan Rooze 2020-10-09T08:25:20Z

It is a really fun game. At first I had trouble getting the goal, but then it turned out I just had to read the rules :D. The graphics are really cool and thematic, the sound is greeat, the controls are really good. I reached 3700. Was really fun. Might play it again in the future.

iLoop - the 2D endless runner game of a robot stuck in a loop :) by melvinng 2020-10-12T08:58:22Z

The music and artstyle are beautiful. The controls feel snappy and responsive. For the gameplay itself, I think the game would benefit a little variance of the distance between the enemies. I would also make the hitboxes of the enemies a bit smaller, because as they are now, the jumping window feels very tight and somoetimes it feels as if I have jumped over the enemy, but still get hit. Flying enemies would also probably be an interesting additions. Anyway, these are just some suggestions. I actually liked your game a lot. Good job. Especially for a first entry!
