WebGL version on Mac crashed before it was playable - what I saw was amazing though!
@riroriro WebGL is a little broken at the moment. Patch going up in a minute as soon as the build is done. If you would be willing, give it another try then or download the standalone version. Glad you liked the intro though!
@riroriro Glad you liked the intro, at least.
WebGL is broken but the executable works great! Very fun with very responsive controls and great sound and graphic design. Well done!
Amazing graphics, the camera is a bit difficult to control, but the idea is very good, I like it.
The game was very slow and unplayable for me. I was around 1 FPS
@riroriro @matchaflavor WebGL is patched to work but it is very slow at the start. We think it's caching something, though we don't know what or why. Just give it a minute and it should work fine.
@matchaflavor Thanks! This LD was definitely our most graphically advanced entry to date. I'm glad you liked the controls too. We thought it came out very well.
@blumber We're glad you liked the graphics! The camera actually wasn't controllable for a while, just followed the player like it does if you don't move the mouse. It's mostly a style thing to let you see the player from other angles. Sorry you had a hard time with it though.
Cool sliding movement especially when you're in a wheel, that action just look so cool. One critique though is that the mouse movement is very sensitive so I find that it's easier to not use the mouse at all. Movement is a bit hard to control, or maybe I'm just not very good at doing so. Nevertheless, great game.
Great graphics, a shame my PC lagged a bit at the beginning, and probably doesn't need a mouse function for the game, rather it needs a higher FOV. Great entry!
This game takes a bit to get used to, but it's super fun after that. Have a high speed character in small rooms can be jarring and hard to control sometimes. Not sure how to get around this, but maybe have it so player bounces off walls in way that conserves momentum.
@saltfactory-studio Glad you like it! We thought it turned out pretty slick. I agree, the mouse can be a little sensitive at times (wish we had time to add a sensitivity slider).
@supergamersgames Thanks! Yeah unfortunately WebGL has some stutter issues initially (think this might be browser-specific behavior) but they go away after a bit.
@rainyday2800 Glad you had fun! Bouncing off walls is a good suggestion as well.
Great fun! Graphics are sleek and the gameplay super smooth, mouse movement was a bit much but you didn't really need it to play. Quite a unique concept, well done
Thanks @shortbread, glad you liked it!
wow! Really nicely polished game!
\+ The intro had some Portal vibes to it (one of my favourite games ever).
\+ Scoring shown on the wheel.
\+ Polished
\- Mouse sensitity was a bit too high
\- Having to press Restart with enter when playing with mouse and WASD. Space or mouse button would have been nice.
I played the fixed WebGL version and it did run very smooth on my 2008 Mac pro. I had a few small lag spikes but not so it destroyed the game play.
What did you do to fix the lagspikes? I used 2020.1 too and I saw a few comments about "lagging sometimes" on my game.
@smiley Oh you noticed the portal vibes, eh? That was actually a totally unintentional happy accident that it ended up that way.
By the way, enter key works for the restarting, though you're right space would be another logical choice.
We fixed the lag spikes by reducing cases where Unity would attempt to use GPU instancing (which is _supposed_ to make performance better  ). Apparently some browsers REALLY do not like it and cause massive spikes. So we merged a bunch of our meshes together and used LODGroups to cull far away objects to reduce the number of rendered objects overall.
Oh, and thanks for playing!
This looks great but the controls are a bit too twitchy. Good job!
@antihedra thanks for playing! Wish we could have a sensitivity slider, but unfortunately that got cut. :pensive:
wooshh this game made me dizzy!! haha.. Nice game and idea, you should def tewak the sensitivity as other said!! But it's a really cool concept and nice execution, keep working on int and improve it!! Did you make the assets?? They look amazing!
@webox Hey thanks! Sorry to make you dizzy lol. Yes, all assets are indeed made specially for this project! Wasn't sure if I could pull off the models in time, but I went for it anyways and hey, we made it!
Nice entry! I loved the "slide" mechanic to limbo under things. Agree w/ the other users that I wish maybe the rooms were bigger or something, the speed makes it hard to control his locomotion in the confines. Nice one though, I thought it was fun and loved the graphics and sound effects. Very polished!
@charlotte-raymond Hey thanks! Glad the polish paid off. I can definitely see the room size thing; it's fun to just "go fast" and the rooms can cramp your style, so to speak. :stuck_out_tongue:
Wow, what a game! Love art and music, but gameplay for me is too difficult
@ellladee Thanks! Glad you like the art/music and sorry, it is a bit on the challenging side, we know.
@guitarbro no, it's okay, it's difficult just for me, but in generally game is awesome, you did a great job!
Hi! I tried your game and thought it was amazing. The graphics, controls and the way the HUD was integrated into the character was incredible. Sorry, I've not got any constructive criticism as I thought it was brill. Would love to try it with a controller. No idea how you got this done in that time.
What a beautiful game. The gameplay is very fast and cool. Excellent work. I enjoyed it
I liked playing this game! Audio and graphics give a good mood (:
@tom-a Thanks for the high praise! We really pushed ourselves on this one, so I'm glad it shows.
@elpadlos Glad you enjoyed it!
@hyblis Thanks for playing and I'm glad the mood was good. :sunglasses:
I'm quite stunned how good this game looks. You have so much talent put in this game. Everythingseems quite polished(except WebGLwhic is not really your fault). Have you considered continue this idea further? I think it could end being a really good rogue-like.
Either way, GOOD WORK
Good game, Good mechanics, Good sound, Good production quality. Lots of good. Liked the portal-esque vibe, and the integrated user/hud. Tried the mouse looking off the break, wasn't helping my gameplay, so I stopped looking and just drove around with much better success. I think I would prefer a different camera angle, it was hard for me to keep track of where the enemy's where as I was moving about. Or maybe make turning based off the mouse move and just W/S for forward/back? There is some fast paced arcade action in there that I just cant master as is. Great game. Well done.
WebGL is still broken but damn that's a good jam game, great work
looks great, I like the combat music switch you did and was good fun sliding around haha
The graphics are stunning and polished with fun gameplay. I was worried it might not run on my 6 year old laptop but I had no issues (downloaded the executable). The music ramping up as the enemies appeared added to the feeling of intensity in combat. I struggled with the combat but it was more due to how I tend to play games, taking it slow and methodical. This game really leans towards going fast to make the most of the slide mechanic. My only criticism would be how sensitive the mouse is for controlling the camera. It makes it difficult to keep track of the action.
Great and very polished game. The character was a bit hard to control though because of the high speed and the mouse sensitivity was too high for me.
didn't load the first couple of times but managed to make it work spamming f5 Although hitboxes could be a bit smaller, you achieved the feeling of speed and controll that this kind of game needs. Amazing job.
@nekuake Wow thanks! Really appreciate the kind words. We're always open to the possibility of taking things further, but it _is_ a jam game after all, so we'll see.
@acuriosity Haha thanks for the _good_ feedback. :stuck_out_tongue: The camera tuning is definitely something that I'm not fully satisfied with, so I get where you're coming from. If we do something similar in the future we'll probably try some other values.
@eik0 Sorry to hear that, did you try a download? Those should work the best. But thanks for playing regardless.
@mackandrius Ah you noticed the music switch. Glad someone appreciated it. Thanks for the play.
@jammygunns Awesome to hear you could run it smoothly! Might make a patch with lower sensitivity since so many people are requesting it. (That's a bugfix, right?)
@flying-dog-fish Thanks for the kind words, sorry the controlling was a bit difficult. You kinda need to get into a rhythm or it can go downhill quite quickly.
@chispalbc Glad you got it to work eventually. Honestly the hitboxes really bother me too. The problem is that Unity's CharacterController only supports a capsule, which, as you can tell, is NOT the shape of the loop lol. We wanted to try and make some hybrid controller to have a more accurate hitbox but unfortunately we ran out of time. :disappointed: Thanks for playing though!
Awesome amount of polish! Love the battle music, and the UI on the loop is great. The only thing that bugged me about this was that turning left/right felt a little touchy, I think it would have felt a lot smoother and easy to control if turning was just bound to mouse movement instead (I didn't find myself needing to turn the camera independently at all)
@graebor Thanks for the feedback (and for playing)! That's not a bad idea.
What an incredible game! I loved it, great job
Thanks @somogy! Glad you enjoyed.
Visually impressive! The camera being so tightly coupled with the player made me feel a bit nauseous, and the controls took a bit to get the hang of. Overall, very nice work, especially for only three days!
@michaelaranda Thanks! Sorry the camera wasn't your jam, hope you enjoyed regardless.
Heyo, I played your game on stream! Here's the vod if you wanna rewatch; https://www.twitch.tv/videos/765804766
Thanks for submitting your game!
Great game. I loved how you can adjust your dodges to the music. I would work more on the mouse camera movement, it was little hard to control it and cursor was a little distracting. Other than that I loved your game, great graphics, audio and an original concept too!
@jakob-reborn Hey thanks! Agree on the mouse/camera, if we had more time we would have loved to tune it a bit better. Thanks for playing though.
Great ! I love the look and feel of your game. The hud in car is nice!
@mrbamboo Thanks! The hud was @cethin's idea.
Wow this game is very polished and the movement was pretty cool and nice. I would work a little on the camera being extra sensitive to movement as well as the mouse senstivity moving the camera a lot. It was kind of hard to control and sometimes the camera would be spinning around. Nice job!
Thanks for playing @snowinn! Glad you enjoyed the movement, but I agree the camera isn't ideal.
I enjoyed this game a lot. The graphics and sound are amazing. The gameplay idea is really fun. I went through the feedback and I see people have already mentioned the camera. So yeah that is the only thing that I didn't love. I actually have the same feedback for the camera in my game  , so I get how it can be difficult and time consuming to get the camera just right.
@cosmicpickle haha thanks. Yeah we'll probably spend a bit more time on it next time. Glad you enjoyed the other stuff though!
Great game! Random map generation, nice touch!
I think moving the camera with the mouse was not necessary. The camera could get some love with some lerp when you turn the player.
Pretty graphics, nice movements and an original concept! Solid entry
Very nice jam, loved the graphics and sounds. The controls felt very responsive and I liked that there were power ups. The only thing I would suggest is to mark the rooms that I've completed in another color. Also the camera didn't seem to have any benefits so I played without and it worked great. Overall, pretty impressive entry!
Loved the use of the theme, I found it a bit difficult but it was still fun!
@trypants Thanks for the feedback (and thanks for streaming the game)!
@marc-antoine-girard Thank you! Would you believe that was our original intention with the rooms but it got cut due to time? :stuck_out_tongue:
@ryan-paton Glad you had fun even if it was a bit difficult!
Very nice and well executed.
Thanks @nicardo!
You guys are very good with shaders and other graphic shit, but camera AI is not very pleasant. Near walls camera goes top and controlling situation becomes very hard.
Looks very good, but WebGL build doesn't lock the mouse, so the camera controls can get very weird
@week-of-the-agents Hah thanks. Yup we know about the camera stuff.
@grizeldi Thanks, though honestly you're probably better off just ignoring the mouse controls. We probably should have just left it out instead of giving people the option.
I was also having issues with the camera being silly, the other thing I noticed was there was no indication of what rooms I'd already been in, so sometimes I'd get turned around and go back through 3 or 4 rooms I had already cleared before finding more enemies to run into. The little turrets also shoot really fast, making it hard to slide under the lasers without getting shot sometimes. Or maybe I'm just a Noob. It was fun to play, good music, awesome graphics, and an overall very solid entry!
Thanks for playing @rubixnoob13! Wish we had time to get the minimap room indication in. Maybe next time we try something similar.
Wow, this is fantastic! It took me a while to figure out how to not stink at combat, but the multiple games were worth it!
Hey thanks for not forgetting about our game @peace-of-cake-games  Glad it was good enough for you to stick around for multiple rounds too!
This was really fun, sliding under lasers and into enemies felt especially satisfying! The little details, like the sparks when you turn and the camera effects on the menu screen, made the game look really polished. The only real criticism I have is that I think your score should be based off of enemy kills or rooms cleared because it feels unrewarding to go through lots of rooms to only get a score of 1 or 2 based on a random chance pickup. Then, you could possibly replace the point pickup with a limited time double points or something similiar. Also, this doesn't really matter, but I think the max health pick up would feel more rewarding if you gained a health along with the maxhealth. I'd like to see a post-jam version with bigger and more varied rooms!
That was quite fun! Controls took a bit to get used to, but nice effects!
@guitarbro Not just a couple rounds yesterday, I'll be playing more today! This is one of my favorite games this jam! (And admittedly, I have so many favorites, my favorites list is at like 20 games out of 35-ish played)
@peace-of-cake-games lol at least too many favorites is a good problem to have.
@nsadie Thanks! Glad you liked it.
@dans17 Appreciate the feedback! Definitely agree on the points thing. We had originally planned on there being many more ways of getting points but they got cut due to time. The max health pickup giving health too is also a good idea. Thanks for playing!
Ha ha, I was just playing a game and after a fight two power-ups were created! "The Healing Slide" power-up now exists.
