Loved the art and music! Gameplay didn't feel as innovative, same for theme. Overall a nice game!

mfischer3d 2020-10-05 21:09

Liked your artwork but the gameplay is pretty dull. I think adding some more vertical gameplay would help. Like platforms you can jump onto while running, etc...

feesh 2020-10-05 22:01

Absolutely amazing art, I agree with Fischer on the gameplay however. It became a little repetitive over time.

fedora 2020-10-05 22:29

The art is really good. Just one thing: some sprites look more stretched and "pixelated" than others (for example the ninja with the sword).

Having the game progressing by adding more enemies and making them faster is good, but having some extra layers of complexity would be nice.

Congratulations on publishing your first jam game, by the way!

coryru 2020-10-06 04:02

That background sprite! Wow!

trypants 2020-10-06 04:02

Art is great! Would be fun to have some variant in the gameplay. Maybe a small jump or crouch with different type/height of enemies.

Congrats on your first GameJam!

tennotako 2020-10-06 04:03

great art. the gameplay loop could have been longer tho!

timeloopedpowergamer 2020-10-06 04:04

Endless runner as loop? Yeah, okay. Didn't seem to see a death animation but heard a death sound. Didn't crash and completed when I lost the second life. Not bad.

spicyshiba 2020-10-06 04:22

Amazing art!

dharby 2020-10-06 04:29

Agreed with everybody here about the art. Great job!

gammaromeo 2020-10-06 04:54

Cute. The pixel art is interesting. Although I felt the feedback on getting hit by enemies needs to be stronger

doctorhummer 2020-10-06 05:56

Great art and music, but gameplay is kinda repetitive. Not bad for first GameJam!

zashers 2020-10-06 05:58

The backgrounds are stunning, good job!

zukas 2020-10-06 06:00

Gameplay perhaps could have used more variety, but everything that concerns sound and audio is amazing!

prerak 2020-10-06 06:38

The character art looks so cute The overall art is very cool and making a health loss animation or indicator might make the game more attentive and fun <3 Overall great game

enes-ayyildiz 2020-10-06 07:07

I loved the graphics

bicheste 2020-10-06 07:07

AMAZING job for someone who just started. Are you liking it? Keep up the good job!

mrchickenboy 2020-10-06 07:09

The hitboxes of the enemies in my opinion were a bit big, and like others said, it gets repetitive very easily, you could try adding platforms or increase the speed over-time. Also, the feedback when you loose a heart could be better, but, not bad for a fist game, not bad.

celuloide 2020-10-06 07:10

Loved the art and the music (as everyone!). I think this is a great first job! nicely done :)

melvinng 2020-10-06 07:10

@bicheste thank you for the kind comments! Programming can get frustrating at times, especially when trying to fix bugs in your software/game, but I'm loving it at this point! I hope to come up with better quality games in future too! Kinda inspired by some of the better entries in LD47 as I play through them earlier :)

mrchickenboy 2020-10-06 07:13

@melvinng, it's all good, everyone starts somewhere

daimadoushi 2020-10-06 07:18

Nice art and music.

On thing that doesnt feel jucy at all though, is that when you hit an enemy, the sound and damage are not applied immediately for some reason and is delayed a bit giving a feeling of lagginess. You think, ho I went through, then ah no as I thought I missed...

Keep it up

b0guslaw 2020-10-06 07:20

Amazing game for someone with so little background. A few points: Adding some verticality would help spice up the gameplay a bit, and while I liked every single piece of art asset you have, they could have been a little more consistent with each other. Above all however fun game with nice looking visuals

melvinng 2020-10-06 07:30

@mrchickenboy thank you for your kind comments as well :). I learnt a lot during this game jam, mostly thanks to the insane amount of coffee consumed to help me stay awake haha.

mrchickenboy 2020-10-06 07:34

haha

human-writes-code 2020-10-06 08:11

Great job! You've made a lot of progress for 3 weeks of game dev learning.

The art looked cool and the game concept was clear.

There were a couple of issues with the hit box for enemies being a bit unforgiving and the audio being panned hard left (not stereo), but I think you should be proud of what you achieved.

Good work!

tamail 2020-10-06 08:24

Nice game, reminded me of the "Google Chrome dinosaur" game and it had the same level of chill, too. Unfortunately, I seemed to lose hearts even when no enemy was in sight - seems like I lost a life when I was holding the space bar too long, my robot jumped twice and that took my hearts. Anyways, loved the game, the art!

purpledartfrog 2020-10-06 09:43

Looks really really good - like some commented - a little repetetive and I had a difficult time actually avoiding the enemies... I seemed to get hit every time

:purple_heart: :dart: :frog:

adriankrawczyk 2020-10-06 10:41

Graphics are awesome!

satacat 2020-10-06 10:48

I really loved your graphics, music and atmosphere of the game in general

sacer 2020-10-06 12:47

Really loved the character graphics and mood of the game. But it sometimes hurt to have to let some food go to waste ;-)

fiwon123 2020-10-06 13:18

Nice entry, dude!

The character is cute hehe

holtzzy223 2020-10-06 13:41

Fun little jumper! love the main character!

benslaney 2020-10-06 13:46

The pixel art is excellent! As mentioned above I also feel that the gameplay is a tad repetitive. Additionally, I found that it's hard to tell why exactly I died, maybe a short animation could help? Oh and thanks for the review on our game!

steamdr4gon 2020-10-06 15:18

Nice little game, the art looks sweet. The sound is a little harsh on the ears, might just be my headphones though.

trizalio 2020-10-06 15:20

Nice graphics, sound, but as mentioned ealier, quite repetitive and has unexpected collisions I suggest: 1. add blink animation on hit 2. place some kinds of food in midair Maybe: 1) Allow horisontal movement 2) Make enemies move speed dependant on enemy type Anyway, great work!

snowinn 2020-10-06 16:07

Very fun and addictive game ! It’s like a much cooler version of the chrome dinosaur game and I like how each run builds off of the previous ones. The pixel art is amazing especially the city background. Great job !

darcytimms 2020-10-06 16:30

Super cute graphics, and a relaxing loop that suits the theme of working an eternal job. Great first jam game!

uglyswedishfish 2020-10-06 16:41

Graphics and sound are really good. Good job for a first jam entry!

codertrevor 2020-10-06 17:10

This game is simple but fun, which is perfect for a game-jam. I got 81 points. I really liked the animation on the little robot. Congrats on your first jam game!

nodli 2020-10-06 18:47

A well executed infinite runner. Having animations and music for each menu is a great idea ! You have audio feedback when you get hit but i would have liked to have visual feedback too. The hitboxes seem to be a bit large and square shaped which is a bit unpredictable at first on some ennemies. Great work !

zessirb 2020-10-06 18:58

Is it normal that the sound is in mono? The mood of the game was nice, and the only thing I have to say is about the getting hit part: I found the hitbox to be a bit large (might be wrong though) and would have liked the sound to occur immediately; there are a few 10th of seconds that make the sound happen too late - that and a small visual animation could help On the other end it felt polished and no bug whatsoever, well done

frankarlovic 2020-10-06 20:13

The background art is amazing, as well as every single piece of art in the game. All of them together tho... I don't think I understand the theme, if there is one. Still amazing art nontheless!

coding4rtist 2020-10-06 20:18

Simple but funny game. Loved the pixel art, the character is so cute. Music is also nice, but it's mono (try to fix it, it's annoying if played with headphones)

milk 2020-10-06 20:32

the character is adorable & the ranking system at the end was rewarding ・゚✧

jvdwijk 2020-10-06 20:34

I liked it! It was very simple and well polished, but the points were nicely implemented, I liked seeing my rank changed!

Maybe some future improvements: - A little variations, right now it seems like the same jump and same speed and the difficulty doesn't really change. So it would be cool to see some different enemies like flying enemies (jetpacks?) and some flying points! - Seeing your rank change during game! Maybe you little notification on the side saying your new rank

melvinng 2020-10-06 21:18

@zessirb @coding4rtist thank you both for pointing out that the sound is mono... did not realize this as I was testing the game pre-release.

I have fixed the audio to stereo now, hence it's playing much better than before! I have also updated the hit-boxes of some of the enemies as suggested by many of the players here.

New version (with updated sounds & hitboxes): https://melvinng.itch.io/iloop

melvinng 2020-10-06 21:34

@codertrevor Good job on achieving 81 points :D! Help iLoop the robot achieve higher ranks, and see if you can achieve the *secret* rank achieved only at a certain score. Glad you enjoyed it :)

trexxak 2020-10-06 22:10

ld_s1.png

Whew! This is an amazing entry for your first jamgame! Your game knows EXACTLY what it wants to achieve and is fully content of itself. I do also disagree with the former posters: Isn't the whole point of an endless runner a repetitive zen-like game that just runs increasingly faster with time? You totally sold that idea. Great job, thank you for joining and welcome to Ludum Dare :3

rhoff95 2020-10-06 22:17

Cool game! I would have liked to see the background/foreground saturation be balanced. It is much harder to focus on enemies and food when there are super colorful detailed background elements everywhere. Also would have liked some better feedback on when you get hit. Well done!

melvinng 2020-10-06 22:20

@trexxak First of all, thank you for your kind compliments! I really appreciate the fact that you understood the idea behind the game. My objective was to create a hypercasual endless runner that's not just fun to play with, but also with a calm & relaxing looping theme.

Also, great work on achieving Master Sergeant rank! Keep it up! And thank you for playing!

jag 2020-10-06 22:30

I enjoyed it! I like the choice of art and the animations, and the sounds were nice too.

seth-tal 2020-10-06 23:37

Nice work. This game and simple, but its polished enough to feel enjoyable. Arguably a better version of the Google Chrome Dinosaur game haha

ismael-rodriguez 2020-10-07 00:22

Congrats on your entry! Very simple game, not much to it. Responsive controls, a score system, good job.

It reminds me of is Google's Dinosaur Runner

chrome-offline-dino-game-small.jpg

That said, I wish the visuals were just as simple. Maybe it's my age, but it's kind of hard to see things coming at me so quickly with how the foreground appears against the background.

draconimous 2020-10-07 02:11

Great job! artwork was beautiful and controls were smooth. very cute game :D

vphyre 2020-10-07 03:51

Cool game. Very beautiful graphics, good sound. Liked it.

shaolin-dave 2020-10-07 05:06

Congratulations on your first jam. I noticed you opted out of graphics and music/sound, did you not create those yourself? Anyway, I like that it's simple and casual. That's exactly what jams need, something that can be enjoyed in a few minutes. It was a bit simple with only the jump button, there were times where I HAD to skip food because I would have hit an enemy at the same time, maybe some horizontal movment could add some strategy to the timing challenge.

elpadlos 2020-10-07 07:31

It was very atmospheric. Great game! Good luck to you

maxime-barre 2020-10-07 07:43

Impressed by the graphic part! I'm experimenting with pixel art and endless runner, and these are some sweet visuals. The game is fun but a bit redundant, as far as I've tried it. Plus, it's sometimes impossible to catch the bonuses because of the ennemies!

fax 2020-10-07 07:46

Good entry for this jam. Nice aesthetics. The sound when you end run can hurt ears a little ^^. Congratulations for the game.

pranjalbisht 2020-10-07 08:20

Sweet backgeound. Overall the pixels need to be more consistent in their size, but I can't rate the game in the graphics category at all? o_o Standard runner loop, I felt a lack of visual feedback when you get hit, just the sound doesn't feel like it's enough.

no-grapes-games 2020-10-07 08:33

The background is really nice! The gameplay needs a lot work though. It only takes 3 seconds to play the entire game pretty much. Maybe some platforms, pit falls, flying enemies, etc. would cut the monotony up a bit. Thanks for the entry.

henry-du 2020-10-07 08:45

Crazy graphics!!! Dinosaur game on steroids. Would like to see variations in obstacles, though.

meskaline 2020-10-07 08:49

A nice game. The graphics are not consistent and is bothering(different pixel sizes). Overall a pretty ok runner.

meek-bits 2020-10-07 09:08

The graphics and audio create joyful atmosphere. Nicely executed idea that fits the theme. I only felt like the colliders are a bit too big - when I jump a bit to early it looks like there was no contact with the enemy, however I was loosing a life.

meowmeowlitclub 2020-10-07 09:37

Cute and nice pixel art!! I notice there is a sushi hahaha. I love the sound effect and the background music. Pretty easy to engage in the atmosphere!

gonzalol 2020-10-07 09:51

I love the background art. It's a classic infinite run, for a second version, it would be great some coordination between foes and objects. Some objects are imposible to catch.

panagiotis-iatrou 2020-10-07 09:52

Pretty nice! I think it would feel a bit better if the player walking animation stopped while jumping.

pixelmoose-studio 2020-10-07 10:15

Nice little game, a bit repetetive but realy nice looking player characther and background.

macmist 2020-10-07 10:16

Really sweet game! Simple to play and addictive, and super cute graphics! I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to hurt that little robot  Loved the music as well. Could play for hours

zombiebust3r 2020-10-07 10:22

Fun little game and very well done for your first game jam! If you ever feel like continuing developing this game you should add some more things to the gameplay to spice it up a little. Right now it's a it dull but the art is very good!

zaibakk 2020-10-07 10:30

Loved the art style here! Nice entry!

rossmoff 2020-10-07 10:54

I like the art in the game! The gameplay itself is a little bit dull, but solid.

donamougou 2020-10-07 11:43

Nice entry, very polished, with the whole 'replayability system'. The only thing I can see to improve it is a visual indication that you've been hit, as I feel that the hit sound is not important enough. Thanks for the game.

turegrappa 2020-10-07 12:22

This game is awesome! I like graphics and music. Good job.

lllarso 2020-10-07 13:35

Cute character design of iLoop. He's adorable! As people already mentioned, the background is too distracting, because of the strong colours. It looks really nice, but the player wants to keep an eye on the foreground. The sound effect of "getting hit" is a little bit off (comes to late). But if these two things are fixed, the game will be very polished. I had fun with it :)

thebugger 2020-10-07 14:05

It looks great, gameplay remind me of chrome dinasour game

finn-tr 2020-10-07 15:02

Really great first jam game! I really like the art and music, gameplay was very enjoyable. Well done!

super-hadoken 2020-10-07 16:03

Congratulations on your first jam! A solid polished experience. I love endless runners but this could do with increasing difficulty and speed. Good job.

teto 2020-10-07 16:04

I know some people mentioned before but it definitely reminds me of the dino game on chrome! Graphics are cute and I like the scores, ranks and stats that add to the replayability factor. Unfortunately, I think the gameplay was a little lacking and you could add some more variation in frequency/speed of enemies and put more vertical gameplay in as some people said before. I wanted to play again to get a higher rank but it wasn't interesting enough to make me want to play again unfortunately. However, givn the limited amount of time and the fact you put in the stats etc that a lot of entries with more developed gameplay don't have, you did a really great job in making a cute game! Well done!

melvinng 2020-10-07 16:33

@teto Thank you for playing!

antti-haavikko 2020-10-07 16:45

Pretty cool! Obviously not a game with too much replay value and longevity due to the lack of difficulty curve and overall repetitiveness.

Screenshot 2020-10-07 at 19.07.11.png

So yeah, the difficulty curve was pretty much nonexistent. The enemy speed increased so damn slow and it even didn't matter really. The only points where you can take damage was either when completely misestimating the huge unfair enemy hitbox or when two of them came so close together that is was impossible to land between and do a new jump.

It was also quite unfun that the foods and enemies liked to sync up so that you couldn't get the foods. There was no point on going for a risky food grab (especially with the hard to read enemy hitboxes) because there was no way to recover from a mistake and zero consequence of not going for them unless completely safe. Some kind of mechanic for needing food would maybe enhance the game by giving the player some decisions to make. And the food placement could spice things up too by variating their distance from each other (now it seemed very close to fixed at least) and by having some of them be in air. And of course flying enemies would make it more varied too! Classic endless runner stuff.

Didn't the intro text say something about the robot growing? Didn't happen to me at least. Oh now checking the screenshots on the description, it was just about the rank growing.

Every piece of art looked fine on their own. I especially loved the background(s). There was a big lack of consistency on them though. Every piece had their own color palettes and styles. Like they were done by different artists altogether. And now that I actually look at the rating category options, I'm guessing that you didn't do them and they actually were different artists.

Looks like the bot had other animations too besides the walk but you didn't use them for the jumping at all. That's actually something I just had to go back and check, I recalled seeing some kind of jump on the intro/stats screen. So yeah, no own animation for jump. Obviously not a too big of a deal since I barely even noticed it but on the other hand, a cool jump animation I would have definitely noticed. And it would have made the game "feel" better.

The parallax on the background felt a bit too strong (i.e. too slow background movement speed). Maybe it's just me but I quite often started admiring the pixel art there and when I snapped back to focusing on game it was very disorientating.

The sound effects seemed to be too late. You were already at like the peak of the jump when the sound effect happened. And the same goes for all other effects too. The sound effects weren't bad but some variety would have been nice. And overall they were kinda lackluster, would have wanted to hear more oomph on them to give the actions they were enforcing some more weight. And the same goes for visual effects too, some particle effects, screen shake and so on give the actions some nice and meaningful feedback.

Anyways, job well done and congrats on your first jam!

gale-swift 2020-10-07 16:49

The robot and aesthetics were really cute. The gameplay was a little too simple for my tastes though. Could add a couple more 'enemies', like one where you have to stand still, another where you have to jump on their head (guys moving a couch or something), etc.

Well done though and congrats on your first jam!

kate90 2020-10-07 17:06

It would be nicer if it envelopes somehow...

Art is so beautiful!!! And you have a nice audio there!

nareh 2020-10-07 17:16

Making this alone for your first game jam is awesome! I wished the gameplay had more complexity (i.e. the enemies move faster, or you can do certain actions to them) as I would definitely play this in my free time like the Dino Game, but I loved it regardless! Graphics are super cute as well. Awesome job!

xbdoblex 2020-10-07 17:48

I should say, this is the best game I played until now.The music is so relaxing and cool and the artwork is absolutely amazing!<3

gnx 2020-10-07 18:16

Very nice art, particularly the background is very evocative :) The song is interesting too, I played long enough to hear the whole loop.

tommy 2020-10-07 18:27

Great graphics and audio, together they create a very fitting atmosphere!

arktas 2020-10-07 20:09

For a first entry it's technically correct, the problem here is that we get bored really fast. Maybe different obstacles (group of people, something flying, projectiles, ...) can increase the fun.

Keep doing Jam !

gregoryblomquist 2020-10-08 05:50

Fun runner with beautiful art and charming audio and music. Almost relaxing gameplay with a good rhythm of obstacles!

mateusboga 2020-10-08 11:38

Cool game! Extremelly simple but it was well executed nonetheless.

idan-rooze 2020-10-08 16:53

Congratulations on your very first game jam and for releasing a complete game! I thought your pixelart was charming and wish you luck on your gamedev journey. Happy to hear that you found the experience positive.

melvinng 2020-10-08 17:31

Hi @idan-rooze thanks for playing the game! Just to clarify, the pixel art were obtained from various free asset packs I found online. Hope you enjoyed playing the game though!

idan-rooze 2020-10-08 17:55

@melvinng oh don't worry about that. I thought it was good, keep it up!

melvinng 2020-10-08 18:15

@idan-rooze Thanks for your kind compliments :)!

digital-bacon 2020-10-08 22:57

Very nice. Love the pixel art. Good work!

eugenik 2020-10-08 23:38

Very nice game! :D

heyllopotato 2020-10-09 02:33

The music was good, and the game was fun! The thing about it though is it would be better with a bit more to the game it got stale after just a little bit, maybe something where you aren't supposed to jump so you will have to keep in mind what enemy it is, instead of just see enemy that's close enough jump. The point system makes it so you can go back for a higher score, but as long as you dodge the enemies you don't need to worry about the points you just need to keep dodging and you will get points, maybe if there was something that you need to do to get points like some sort of risk/reward to get points, not 100% sure maybe having to make a precision jump to get a point or something like that, overall good entry

kaafirookie 2020-10-09 09:20

A cute little game, I like the choice of artwork, endless runners are probably the goto loop for a quick game. The replay value the game and retention is quite low, but a good effort, I suggest trying to use the vertical space too and have some variation in enemy behavior or add new obstacles from time to time for making an endless runner interesting.

To increase retention you can try to add a dynamic difficulty curve, where the game becomes easy, medium and hard dynamically based on how well the player is playing, how far they went and dead ratio etc. by increasing or decreasing the intervals between enemies, obstacles etc.

All the best for your future projects!

duke 2020-10-09 11:27

I was hooked by your game screenshot immediately due to the great pixel art provided. Too bad they weren't created during the jam because that would've been an instant 5/5. Using prefabricated assets is valid of course, especially for single person projects, that's why I only judge the art direction and coherence of the chosen assets themselves: They work great for the most part, especially background layers and main character. The enemies and item assets do not really fit though (either due to context or pixel resolution). That's something you might want to consider the next time around!

Making an endless runner is a good starting point for a first entry. Fit's the theme somewhat (not very innovative though, of course :P) and can be implemented by a single person without much problems. The controls worked fine, I woudl've loved to see a short jump mechanic though (the longer you press the jump button while jumping, the higher it will go until the maximum jump height is reached) That makes for more possible variations and challanges on the obstacle front. The musical picks were also very nice. Loved the tunes and they fit the general mood very well (kinda reminded me of undertale in some way)

All in all, a good first entry. I hope to see you next time around as well :) Keep it up!

rhewid 2020-10-09 17:47

Good job for your first entry. Its a good start to make an endless runner. You could work on the Parallax effect, maybe make it a little bit slower. Other than that, good job on your first gamejam - hope to see more :)

flying-basement-studios 2020-10-09 20:45

Very nice art!

sophiemae0 2020-10-10 00:58

I love the art in this game, from the background to the enemies to the cute robot to the food (especially the sushi sprites). The music was also fitting the game perfectly. My biggest comment would be to spice up the game play a bit, and maybe make it get harder as you go, either speeding it up or changing the enemies. Maybe add something in the vertical direction? Overall great job :)

darthone 2020-10-10 01:00

Loved the graphics! I think a lot of the other comments did a good job covering my thoughts as well. Great first LD entry!

lena-taylor 2020-10-10 01:28

I felt the game was a little underwhelming. While it technically fits the theme, I feel like the game goes for the low-hanging fruit instead of doing something different or innovative. I was also annoyed with how the food and enemies were out of sync, making some pickups impossible to obtain without taking damage. On a positive note, the game was graphically beautiful and impressive.

eusekerci 2020-10-10 15:10

I really like the background and art. As a first jam entry, it's pretty good. Consider trying new/interesting mechanic next time. One of the best thing about game jam is that you can experiment whatever you want.

patrickjr 2020-10-10 19:17

Your beautiful graphics and audio make a nice calm mood. It's fun for a while, like a better version of that dinosaur game when you don't have internet. I would like different enemies types (some that jump or fly) to add some variety.

misterm 2020-10-11 09:07

Coll pixel art.. I installed from Google Play.. Nice casual game to play on mobile.. Good Job.

melvinng 2020-10-11 09:28

@mrchickenboy haha yea, I appreciate the fact that people are leaving me feedback for my game.

In case, anyone's interested in downloading my game from Google Play Store:

Such a cute game :)

I didn't really see how it fits in with the theme though, and not super innovative IMO, but that's ok.

Music and graphics both beautiful and so nostalgic <3 And the sound effects are so cute

My fave is definitely the background :purple_heart: It's a shame you didn't include voting for the graphics.

There's some glitch where everything slows down for a second or two, except the enemies, making them attack you unfairly. It would probably be worth fixing somehow.

Good job!

cosmicpickle 2020-10-12 08:58

The music and artstyle are beautiful. The controls feel snappy and responsive. For the gameplay itself, I think the game would benefit a little variance of the distance between the enemies. I would also make the hitboxes of the enemies a bit smaller, because as they are now, the jumping window feels very tight and somoetimes it feels as if I have jumped over the enemy, but still get hit. Flying enemies would also probably be an interesting additions. Anyway, these are just some suggestions. I actually liked your game a lot. Good job. Especially for a first entry!

arron-fowler 2020-10-12 13:33

Nice art and smooth mechanic. I got a little zoned out once I got the mechanic. It lacked variety. But what is done here is well done. Good job.

asfdfdfd 2020-10-12 20:54

Love how you tinkered together all components of the game. Nice!

marcos-tulio-cavalcante 2020-10-13 01:46

Hello. I didn't see any relation to the theme, today the score and breaking records is not so much fun anymore, since the game gets boring when it doesn't change and tries to win by tiredness. The ideal would be perhaps to place more commands, or the character to gain power ups. With some way of defeating the enemies on the screen. Maybe a boss at the end, who is in the right corner running in the same direction as the player, shooting at the player, maybe throwing random objects, being they that hinder or help. And the rest you can increase. But I still can't think of anything to put the theme on.

darenn 2020-10-13 16:46

Nice game! You have a solid base on which you can expand now! Maybe add some flying guys? Or Shooting guys? Maybe some food can be grabbed only by jumping. Easer to see what you can do next. Keep creating games!

chocolat-endive 2020-10-13 21:48

Simple, but it works. With some custom assets and graphical coherence, some more variety and some way to share highscore, it cool be a fun little game. Good job!

alekm 2020-10-14 03:22

Good game. With a little variance in things you should be good to go.

hadik 2020-10-14 10:28

You game is pretty fun, so please make it more next time. Not bad, not bad :) I like your art. Averagly fit into the theme.. I like atmosphere of this game. Overall your game is good, good job.

One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will aperceite very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)

extar 2020-10-15 15:48

It's a very simple, straightforward game paired with beautiful, colourful pixelart graphics. Like many have said, it really could do with something else adding to it to give a sense of progression so that getting a high score doesn't just become a test of endurance.

civmaniac 2020-10-15 23:51

Congratulations on finishing your first entry! Bonus points for a Godot game! I really dig your art, style and music, but gameplay, I'll be honest, is just too simplistic. Would be nice to have some variance. Maybe mobs could occasionally jump too, giving a player some cue, that they are going to do so. Some food could cause different effects: speeding up, slowing down, increasing jump force, invulnerability that turns enemies into prey (pacman-style).

Noticed there's a bit of "shimmering" around pixel edges. I wonder if enabling pixel snap in project settings could help with that.

Nice game! It is fun to play. Some variety in the gameplay would make it better, but it is fine for a jam game.

polymorph 2020-10-16 10:45

Meh, does not fit theme.

deathstorm 2020-10-16 12:46

At First I have to say, Iam more a Game Mechnics player so in this case I was a bit disappointed in the content regarding Game mechanics. But pushing that part away, the game is pretty neat. The Sounds are really good, the Hit sound is a bit loud but in total good mixed up with the music. The Graphics are really nice even if they are sometimes feel a bit roughly collcted from different games or styles.

In total it was a nice Game and great work. Well Done.

ellladee 2020-10-17 07:18

Agreed about gameplay, but it's still a good game (:

pengle 2020-10-19 19:51

You should give credits to the artist!!! I'm pretty sure the background art is by Luis Zuno. And i feel like i saw some of the sprites somewhere else...

melvinng 2020-10-20 04:29

@pengle Just for clarification, credit or attribution is not required when using public domain/cc0 asset packs. Thanks for playing the game though!

elcinkilic 2020-10-20 18:26

It takes the person into it :D It would be better to make the art yourself but still good

hunttis 2020-10-21 15:31

You did choose very good art for this, mind you. Don't worry about programmer art next time, it's fine

The game is a bit repetitive and it takes very long for it to get more difficult. Some variety, maybe some skills for the robot could've raised this to the next level :)

Good work in any case, hope to see your stuff in the next Ludum Dare as well

ommadawn 2020-10-22 06:47

Nice art and audio, but gameplay a bit simple

m0dsat 2020-10-22 09:35

Art and sound were great. The gameplay a bit repetitive. You could add abilities to iLoop which would add a bit more gameplay to it.

meatball 2020-10-25 06:26

I often think the less buttons the better, so this was perfect for me. Great music, art, and the How to Play and Stats elements were welcome. Congratulations!

swimdoctor 2020-10-26 21:37

Really enjoyed this one! The art and audio were really nice, gameplay was simple but I think it was styled toward a mobile game, so that worked well. Wish there was more gameplay, even just something like the world speeds up(I might've just missed that by being bad)

pixelgroover 2020-10-27 00:03

Art is very nice, music is my favorite I think. Gameplay controls are good, but the gampelay itself is obviously a little lacking. Seems like you're well-versed with making games, and everything about this submission puts that on display. Nice work overall!
