Wow. Fun and interesting game. Nice eye catching graphics to match. Impressive work.

Wow. Fun and interesting game. Nice eye catching graphics to match. Impressive work.
I do like a bit of arena action. The player character could do with a bit more speed to compensate for the difficulty or slower enemy projectiles.
A nice slow pace concept. I couldn't get to grips with the physics though. Is this meant to be played on a tablet? I'm using mouse so I couldn't tilt the bottles without using another object and then spilling everything. Overall, I really liked the idea.
The graphics and sound are excellent and create a very moody atmosphere. The swordplay is fun but the dash needs tweaking somehow. The dash indicator is quite unintuitive. I also expected the character to dash forward if I pressed it without a direction. Perhaps a run gauge might work better.
Consider having to kill x enemies before entering the boss room.
Impressive entry nonetheless.
Impressive! I really like the concept and the way it plays. The only problem is spotting the dangers and objects in time to react. Having the blob further back might solve the issue. It could also do with some sound effects.
Nice concept. The level design can make or break a game like this and you did a great job. I don't think music is necessary, I like the atmosphere of just machine noises. It reinforces the lonely job of the robot. A slightly faster robot would be nice but having a map with blinking alerts would make a great difference. At the moment the blinking lights on the bar aren't very intuitive.
Really good effort.
I really like the clean art style. The only graphical issue is the highlight of the blocks could be more obvious. It's a minor issue but it can sometimes be hard to make out the stripes when playing on my laptop in a well light room. The gameplay is very enjoyable.
A refreshing change of pace from all the action games, amazing work.
Balance issues aside I enjoyed your shooter. The fairy would only fire when enemies were on the screen, not sure if that was intentional but it felt a bit odd. Nice artwork too, especially the bosses. p.s Moonkins rule.
Thanks for the feedback. This was the first time I played it since it was published late last night and I think it went really well. Props to Gary for making it work.
I managed to get 25900.
Thanks, the Game Over timing is a bug that slipped through.
Thanks for all your valuable feedback. This is my first jam so it means a lot. @shaolin-dave @dodormeur @kjscott @mathias-van-hooreweghe @conor-galvin @mads @batswinger Regarding the 8-way shooting. You're right, it would definitely be better with full 360 aim. It was something we considered early on but concentrated on getting everything working first. We basically didn't have enough time to test our own game properly.
Wow, great game. Excellent pixel art and smooth gameplay. You really achieved a lot in a short time.
The graphics style is really nice, it's what drew me to the game. The idea is interesting as well but the inventory system is fiddly and detracts from what could be a really fun game. I expect to be clicking on an item to retrieve it instead of dragging. I know managing the backpack is part of the game but too much effort is spent rearranging stuff instead of interacting with the world. The loot window also obscures part of the inventory. I think the items should be one size or maybe have a separate box for handheld items like the gun. I would instinctively drag an item over the bin to discard it instead of the box next to it. That box can be used for the gun.
Right clicking to consume an item and left to rearranging might work better.
The stats bars should ideally show numbers since the items indicate how much they restore.
5/5 would pray again!!
This plays really well. The battery is charming, great graphics overall. The sound is also spot on and the recharging mechanic is delightful.
The level design deserves a special mention. It's really good and must be something that's difficult to get right.
This game is really good fun. Easy mode is nice and slow paced but hard mode is where it's at. I never thought I'd enjoy tidying up.
The physics work really well. An option for a light explosion would allow for some skilful juggling.
Nice original and interesting idea. It's well implemented. Just needs a few tweaks. Perhaps start with a few people on the streets and gradually more spawn from the appartments or the walk on to the scene. Could use more of the top half of the screen.
Very impressive work. The pixel art is excellent, in fact, the whole thing is very well polished. The music is good and the blob plays well.
The only real problem is the difficulty. I found the stash of food above the mama blob and that went some way to filling the bar but I couldn't manage to feed her enough no matter how hard I tried. I think I got to about 80% of the bar.
Nice artwork and gameplay. An very enjoyable one-button game. I think a quick click to get a very small hop might work well.
Very fluid and enjoyable gameplay, especially satisfying when you nail a returning yo-yo shot. As mentioned in the first post the lives remaining were confusing, would make more sense if they were represented by the dude's head. The graphics are superb and full of charm. Amazing work.
I saw the screenshot and I was dreading that it was a rhythm action game, I suck at those. Luckily for me it was dodging. Simple but fun to play. Good job.
My medic got stuck behind a crate and dragged off screen but the game wouldn't register it so the game didn't end. The bullets were quite difficult to dodge, perhaps more emphasis on the shelling and fewer bullets. Random firing pattern for the bullets would work better too. Nice graphics, nice game.
I actually liked the WASD controls. The feel of the ship was nice and the game plays really well. Like the others have said I found it really easy. If you don't shoot then you never really feel like you're in danger, you can just avoid most of the enemies.
Ways you can make it more exciting: Have a type of enemy that will chase your ship. Have the energy slowly deplete. Have some enemies shoot back at you.
I wouldn't have enemies spawn in the middle of the field unless you give the player an indication that it will happen.
You've got the makings of a solid game here.
Cool game bro. This reminds me of Wario Ware.
The hitbox for the right punch seemed off compared to the left. I was expecting to hit the bag at the same point of its swing with either fist. I don't have much rhythm so that doesn't help.
Enjoyable game nonetheless.
@battlecat if you're talking about the posing minigame then you just have to remember the keys that's displayed over the white guy. When they disappear you then get 10 seconds to input those keys same keys.
As others have said the atmosphere is top notch. Great use of film grain and low light. I couldn't get the light to follow me over the water, not sure if that's intentional.
Well done.
Nice little game. Physics could do with tweaking to make it more forgiving. Other than that, good work. You can edit this post to include control instructions, that would help.
Found a bug, the first creature sometimes spawns in the wrong place and falls into the abyss leaving you stuck.
Great graphics and smooth old school gameplay. Could've done with a bigger map. Great entry.
Cool little game. It made me use a pencil and paper! Would've been cool to have the route randomly generate each game.
Great game, polished with excellent graphics. Innovative take on the loop mechanic and clever puzzles. I don't know what the demon was so upset about, I left him a copy of the staff in the previous room.
Edit: Just found out the alternative ending. Amazing job.
Smash TV! Fast-paced maze action. Love it!
Awesome game. Simple premise, really good fun. A quick restart button would be handy. download.png
Super cute. Great work for only one day!
Great game but a fixed party size is needed or limit the number of shamans. Three shamans makes an infinite loop, I'm sure that's not intentional. Awesome graphics, presentation and gameplay. Really impressive entry.
Great game! As with any FG a few tweaks here and there would make a big difference. So in my opinion:
- Walk speed increased to help the player catch up or reposition. Maybe add a dash. - Arcana punch should come out much faster. - Dp feels a bit stumpy. Give dp better horizontal reach, also travel higher. Give it momentum in travel path instead of going straight up and immediately down. - Fireball should travel faster. - Cloud kick floats opponent higher. - The loops completed box obsures the Blade Drop. Not game breaking since you normally predict the path. - The top chequered pattern should be on the ground to give the player some movement feedback. - Reference Tekken somehow.
Fun and easy to pick up and play. You got a lot done here, good job.
Cool concept. It does need some sort of goal, a high score or level progression with different placement of pink and obstacles eg. touch pink x times to proceed.
Nice atmosphere and setting. It kept me interested enough to finish it, even after cutting the wrong wire!
Beautiful, clean graphics. The gameplay was fun with smooth and well balanced controls. The radio was a superb addition.
Nice mix of board auto-army battle. Great graphics and gameplay. Would like to have seen a finished version. Probably better to have + and - buttons instead of sliders to allocate troops.
Great fun game. Very polished, cute graphics and lots of nice touches.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed our hard work. We weren't sure how it was going to play, it all came together in the last hour or so. Such is crunch time. The loop bug is a known issue that unfortunately made the cut.
@sophiemae0 I've never heard of the Frog and Toad books but I can see the similarity. :)
@skyeward Thanks for streaming our game. It's very helpful to see how players respond.
@zeu31 We tried to keep the levels small so there wouldn't be a need to wait too long. Unfortunately, we didn't get enough time to playtest the levels. They could do with a bit tweaking. Thanks for playing.
@hunttis lol yeah, the frog sounds were just me and my daughter croaking into a headset and no sound software to lower the volume or clean it up. Thanks for the feedback.
Great graphics and a fun twist on Simon Says. Just a quick suggestion, let players use the numpad to enter commands.
A fun take on the endless shooter. The game could do with a death animation for the enemies and an explosion for the dynamite. The repair aspect could also do with some improvements. The numbers were hard to read, a damage bar would serve better and give the player immediate feedback on where to prioritise repairs. Some way to communicate damage outside of repair mode would be helpful too.
Cool game. Q would benefit from dashing in direction of mouse and maybe W as well, like in Heroes with quickcast on. Also, Maru is best.
Nice idea and well implemented. Plays well except for the difficulty in avoiding the ship while trying to stay on the green line. Might be a good idea to have the whole circle green while the boss is in chase mode then have it dart around the screen unpredictably. Good entry.
Other than be able to ride round the top of the wheel it was a fun and visually appealing game. Also original and on point with the theme. Good job.
Amazing game! Very polished and attractive. You nailed the atmosphere precisely, it was chilling and claustrophobic. Managed to finish it without losing a life the second time round. hyperloopgame.png
Cool and interesting take on the loop mechanic. Having your ingredients taken from you is frustrating though.
The concept is simple yet addictive and well implemented. Had a blast playing this, great levels and pacing. The anime girls round off a very good entry.
Fun game this. I couldn't tell if my bullets were having any affect, could do with hit graphics or sounds. The screen was zoomed in or something, couldn't see the health bar at the bottom. It plays well, good job. dontshootgame.png
Addictive runner. Good job.
Interesting concept and attractive art style. Controls were tricky on a keyboard, particularly with diagonals. I feel like this could've better with squares. Good job nonetheless.
I really enjoyed this game. Some clever puzzles, some require a bit of patience. The difficult jumping puzzles can be frustrating eg. jumping in front of Level 17 robot. It would've been ok if it didn't take you back to beginning of 16. I got stuck spawning on top of level 15 robots and had to restart the game. Despite it all I enjoyed the game and made it to the end. looping1.png
Great game, art and sound. Very polished and fun experience.
Very well polished. Nice atmosphere and puzzles. A strong take on the theme.
It's a really cool idea and fun to play. I feel like the game needs a paddle to make it a less passive experience. At first I thought the camera was a paddle. If the sphere had a grid it could help with visual orientation.
This is a fun game. The mouse pointer could be changed to something more obvious. I occasionally lost track of the pointer when keeping an eye on the flame, especially when the pointer is on the far right of the screen. The spacebar ability didn't seem very useful, perhaps a larger radius would help. Good entry, I enjoyed this a lot.
I really liked this game. It fits the theme well and it the atmosphere was spot on. You really do stop listening to the bosses praise after a while. Also reminded me of why I quit playing WoW. buttongame.png
It's not a straightforward driving game! Brilliant twist. Frustrating at first but once you get used to not being able to drive straight it is fun and rather addictive. Finished all the levels and I was expecting a congratulations screen! RCgame.png
Congratulations on your first jam! A solid polished experience. I love endless runners but this could do with increasing difficulty and speed. Good job.
Move your square across the squares to collect coloured squares. Surprisingly fun. Nice polished game. Works perfectly on my phone.
Simple but fun game. The graphics, sound and overall presentation is great. Well done.
Awesome visuals and audio creating a very atmospheric game, perhaps a bit too dark. Really impressive entry.
Amazing graphics and enjoyable gameplay. The game could really do with some checkpoints. Superb entry.
I found this to be really good fun. It was a good decision to keep it focused on digging and getting air making it fast paced and frantic. High score was actually last score from previous attempt. Would be good to get an actual high score to beat. Sweet game overall.
OMG really great game. The controls were smooth and the action very enjoyable. Graphics and audio were spot on. The red enemies were a bit too tough without power ups.
Superb work.
Fun and challenging puzzles that were perfectly balanced. Great compo entry.
3f5a0.png
A great frantic and fun clicker. Very well polished with awesome graphics and sound. You captured the intense action perfectly.
Great graphics and well implemented shrink mechanic. Some of the jumps were frustrating (eg. not being able to see where you land) but fortunately the spawn points were well placed.
Solid compo entry. Nice graphics, audio and gameplay with all round polish. Could've done without the confusion pickup.. those are frustrating as hell, lol.
Great idea and gameplay. The only problem I had was getting confused with which gun was currently selected. Would be a good idea to click the guns themselves to keep the action in the centre and highlight the selected gun. Original and fun, I can see this style of gameplay being applied in many different ways.
Took me a while to work out the melee but it was an interesting idea that worked well. Fun game but combat is hard in tight spaces. I think less bounce from the walls would help. Maybe a short roll on the right mouse. The spiders need a death animation and some indication that your shots connect. Cool game overall.
Nice graphics, sound and all round presentation. The gameplay was interesting but quite difficult. I found it particularly hard changing back to attack using the mousewheel, I think using Q and E for the items would work better. I think the left click should also change the direction of attack. Overall, solid polished entry.
Really fun mining game with great pixel art. The application of depth and darkness added to the claustrophobic feeling and was right on theme. At my resolution (1600x900) the text was a bit big and cluttered the UI.
Some extra sounds and animation would be welcome to an already great game and awesome solo entry.
Nice graphics and pleasant experience. It's a shame you didn't get time to add some sound, it would've gone a long way. You can use jsfxr to export sounds at https://sfxr.me , it doesn't take much time. Short and sweet game, well done.
This was a really fun experience and a clever puzzler. It didn't take long to work out what to do but I couldn't manage to mix the perfect potion. The music was spot on but the game could perhaps do with some FX when you select an orb. Great, polished achievement.
It might be a good idea to show the next set of orbs.
Nice simple shooter. Could do with a speed increase for the player and asteroids. Also some enemies with diagonal shots. Nice compo entry.
Awesome graphics with interesting gameplay mechanic and fun resource gathering. The partner hook often goes too far resulting in death. There would ideally be a way to control the descent. The upgrade progression needs a bit of balancing. One time, early on, the seaweed stopped spawning and I didn't have an upgraded grapple so I had to restart the game. The game could do with rewarding sounds when objects collide. Overall an awesome game.
fish.png
Cool art and gameplay. Sound and animation is sorely missing, especially an explosion graphic. Nice entry overall.
Great graphics and audio. Gameplay is intuitive and really good fun. The game could do with a counter for current mined blocks, I have no idea how close I get to beating my score. I got the treasure chest but I don't know how many coins I got from it, perhaps a numerical indicator would help, +10, etc. Maybe an expensive (10 coins) dynamite tool to get rid of the indestructible blocks would be a good idea. All minor gripes really, best game I've played so far.
High Score Blocks mined: 187 Depth: 29
Nice graphics and audio, very atmospheric. The controls were responsive and smooth. Having the ground pound on right mouse is awkward as I play with both hands on the keyboard. In case you didn't know, a game controller works but sadly only left/right and jump seems to be mapped.
Gratz on a very enjoyable entry.
I second the fog of war idea. Fortunately, the levels were small so working out where to go wasn't that bad after a few deaths. Cute graphics and neat decoy idea. It could have done with a few more levels but overall the game was fun and engaging.
Great ~~game~~ experience, I feel violated.. I think I got to the end.
One problem I had was resizing the Morse app below the task bar but I couldn't shrink it. Running at 1600x900.
Nice pixel art. Like others have said, some sound and more feedback for the tasks would go a long way. If you want some easy sounds I recommend BFXR. That's what we use, it generates random sounds that you can tweak.
A nice compo entry.
I managed to finish it quite quickly. It just needs a few balance changes like others have mentioned and death animation/sound for the spider. Other than that it's a nice short game.
Edit: Also, consider adding a key for attack as well as using the mouse.
I loved the music but the game really needed some sound fx. The art is great, the gameplay is great, the atmosphere, etc, all great.
Nice attractive game. A little difficult but rewarding eating mechanic.
Excellent artwork. Like others have said, the hitboxes need tweaking and the controls reworked.
Quite an addictive puzzler. Managed to get 3 full skeletons before I decided to quit as I wasn't sure how many there were. The great accomplishment.
Holy shit, Moefall.exe is just like our game but you managed to fit it into another game that's a compo entry no less. Enjoyed this very much.
Engaging idea at first but not enough to keep it interesting. After a lot of runs I gave up and ran straight up and found the second house. It would've been good to have random items to pick up to increase xp, that way the game would feel less linear. Nice presentation and compo entry.
Sweet compo game. I really liked the variety of game styles. 3f5a0.png
Nice platforming ideas and a good variety of challenges. Looks like a lot of work has gone into this. I think the rocks need to be a more different colour to the floor. They're quite hard to see, especially when they're moving and they move a bit too fast.
Good graphics, audio and presentation. Solid compo entry overall.
Fun exploration and great atmosphere. The controls were smooth and the pace was perfect.
Great graphics, audio and presentation all round. Good fun but wanted more. Excellent work.
Cool game with nice atmosphere. The ending was unexpected, I was enjoying that!
Cool game. I managed to collect the key but I was mashing w and it skipped the end lol.
I love the quirky art style, imaginative setting and interesting gameplay. Short and sweet, cool game.
This looks cool. I would love to rate this but I can't play regular, I need inverted controls.
3f5a0.png Managed to get the ultimate upgrade. Cool ending music too.
The game is short and well-paced, ideal for a jam. The graphics are nice although the different pixel sizes clash. The camera needs to keep the bird nearer the centre, especially important when trying to land on a platform.
I suggest having one long progress bar or circle rather than a new one per attempt.
Nice solo entry.
Lying bad.
Sweet and enjoyable game. The graphics are superb with lots of nice touches. I think a high score system would encourage repeated plays and reward the hard digging. Great entry.
Superb visual presentation and audio. I wanted to see what was at 0,0 but gave up. Randomly spawned pockets of aliens might help. Well done on a great compo entry.
Not a bad game at all. Some vertical control would help a lot, he does have wings after all. Some speed control or a diving attack maybe. For the game over screen you want:
[ Continue ]
[ Upgrade ]
[ Quit ]
Going to the main menu to continue your run doesn't make sense. People don't always read everything, they see a green tick and the want to click it.
Congratulations on your first entry.
Nice graphics and mood. The slow pace was a nice change. The shark section was unexpected but fun enough although a little easy. Could do with some feedback to show that the save point was activated, eg. change the colour. The sound was easy to miss on low volume. Cool game.3f5a0.png
Excellent art and presentation. Single player is tough as nails.
Sweet simple game. Could do with a few extra sounds. Maybe a slight horizontal speed increase is needed, the little green fishes are hard to dodge if they spawn below you.
The spikes were hard to tell apart from the wooden platforms but I guess that was deliberate. It didn't matter once you learnt to look out for it. A few more sounds would be nice, like breaking the wood, death, torch, etc. The spooky bits kept me interested till the end.
Short and sweet but enjoyable experience. Nice entry.
Great graphics and audio creating an interesting and cohesive world. The gameplay was frustrating but fun. Adding to what others have said I think the little demon dudes were a little hard to see on my monitor and the sloped platform increased speed a lot more than expected. Awesome platformer overall.
This was awesome! Engrossing story, setting and mood. Nice autosave feature too.
Great compo entry. Engaging mind bending fun.
Nice graphics and art style. The mouse/keyboard controls were a bit awkward, not really suited to a platformer. It did work on a gamepad although the button placements weren't optimal for the game.
I got stuck at the enemy holding an orb. I died but when I challenged again the character didn't appear in the battle.
There's a lot of work here, especially for a solo entry. Good job.
Nice polished compo entry with attractive graphics.
Fun gameplay that just needs a little balancing. The goal of 100 is way too high to start the game with. The dwarf could do with a little speed increase too. There have been a few collecting games this LD and this one is one of the betters ones. Cool game.
Great graphics and gameplay. Amazing compo entry.
Cute fun game. Nice graphics and polished gameplay. It turns out I can't draw circles very well.
This was hard. I couldn't get past the pumpkins. Interesting concept and nice gfx.
@winic @kirlosev @mr-pootsley @dylanlemcke @royur There was meant to be a limit to the number you can hold at any time. The red critters were also supposed to behave differently to the green ones. We had trouble with Tiled integration which left no time for play testing, hence the lack of polish.
Thanks for playing and the reviews. :)
@rkhadder ah yeah. Losing critters when you get hit by an enemy was one of our original ideas but never got implemented. Thanks for playing.
@suchista Yeah we ran out of time so didn't have time to balance the numbers. The beam was also supposed to incur a half speed penalty. Thanks for playing!
Screenshot 2024-10-08 091239.png
Simple yet fun matching game. I only tried the 3x3. It took me a while to notice the small happiness bar. Great graphics and polish.
Screenshot 2024-10-09 215339.png Can't seem to get past this stage. The End?
It was confusing at first but once I remembered what each colour represents it became clear what I had to do. I had to open another tab so I could refer to it. It also took me ages to realise that >| shuffles and X clears blocks, this helps planning a ton.
THIS IS A FANTASTIC GAME! It's a shame the learning curve will put a lot of people off.
It could do with a fast forward button. Great music tracks.
Best game so far!
I keep coming back to this. It's still the best game in the jam imo. Furthest I got:
Screenshot 2024-10-10 135311.png
The trick is to build lines not blocks. Start across the top, down the left and diagonally. Do not be tempted to fill gaps, this is not Tetris. Get connecting colours spread like a web before filling in the map.
More importantly, it's costs nothing to shuffle the next tile at the beginning. Use the early game to hunt for large 5-6 block shapes and 3-4 block shapes of a single colour.
Edit: Forgot to add that in the endgame when you've got the upper hand you can speed things along by deleting the orange (currency) and grey (spawns) blocks and go hard on red (offense) and blue (defense). Make sure you have some currency saved up first.
Simple and fun gameplay. Enemies spawning mid map seems unfair but overall a good variation of VS.
