Great game!
I remember now why I don't play idle games; because I don't stop. Which is to say this is a very effective idle game because it's still open in another tab (I WILL get the promotion). In any case, awesome work! The graphics are great, the sound effects are great, and the gameplay/cost increase scales really well. Also the style is just generally fantastic. Awesome job!
@mellow-cello Thanks for playing the game! I would've wanted to add some music but alas, time forbids..
Nicely done game fitting the theme. I really liked the visual effects and sound effects. Thanks to them the game looks extremely polished. I think it's quite funny, that the game is actually "boring" (you are clicking just on two buttons) and sometimes buy something. But at the same time you just keep playing it.
@flying-basement-studios Hey thanks! That truly is the nature of idle games isn't it, haha! Glad you loved it so much!
great game, would fit into mobile.
Working on it, I will finish this game, I promise. It fits the Theme super well, because I feel Stuck in a Loop. It's perfect. The graphics are nice, even though the claws could close and open and the object could not move befre the claw when falling, but those are only details. Great job!
@the-missing-bracket Hey thanks! Making it into something bigger and fitting it into mobile was something on the back of my mind for a while but I'd have to think on it on whether to fully pursue it.
@int Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed the game! I agree with you on the claws lacking animations - I think that was a critical point that I did not address and should have done so while I had the chance.
This is addictive! With very nice graphics, I also loved the computer talking to me. Such a good job!
This game would be fantastic in mobile!
I love this game so much! It is very simple and works great, the pixel art is fantastic and it felt like i was actually working! Amazing work, got it
If you will make mobile port it would be great. I love graphics, but it's a bit boring, i couldn't play it more than for 5 minutes
ps_5.png I did it...
@Tamail Thank you! I focused a lot on the graphics department for this jam game in particular! Very pleasant to see people like it!
@pedrohph Thanks! I'm getting a lot of similar feedback so I might just get to it someday in the future. Depending on how it goes then.
@ds-nahogara Hahaha thanks! I am very humbled that you love the game so much. I also enjoyed making the game myself and have learned alot in making and implementing art in a game!
@adil Thanks for playing the game! I understand where you are coming from, especially as a PC idle game. I appreciate you taking your time playing though!
@int You mad lad actually did it. The ending was meant to be a reflection as to whether the entire experience was worth it. There is actually another (and easier) ending in this game about escaping this loop instead. Regardless, as a dev, there is a joy that is hard to express seeing other people complete your game. I am overjoyed to see you enjoy it so much. Thank you!
@steventus I tried afterwards and managed the easier one. Had the same end screen though, if that was intended?
Perfect implementation of existing concept. I keep it open to farm for now, beautiful and nice sounds
@int Very weird. It shouldn't be. Thanks for bringing it up, I think I'll have to have a look at it again. But I don't think I can fix it now considering that it'll be a change in the game content (and it isn't a critical bug).
@redunca Thanks for the nice words! The sounds are made with sfxr, the very software that they recommend to generate sound effects. It works very well for the kind of game I'm making here!
Not the type for idle games but the stuck in a loop part came across really well. I also like the consistent artstyle and sound design.
The encouraging messages are a little annoying and started to bug after a while.
This is a very well polished game, I'm very impressed. Sounds, art, etc are all pretty much on point. I feel like the only real problem I had with this game was the lack of gameplay. This would be an excellent game on mobile, you could basically take this, publish it on the app store, and you'll have a game that's soidily in the upper half - 1/3 of mobile games. PC feels like the wrong platform, but this is Ludum Dare so it feels wrong to grade down on that
You've done a frighteningly good job capturing the mood here, almost too good. I know it's intentional, and I absolutely respect the choice, but it went on a little too long for me.
The art does a lot to sell the whole vibe, I love the little bit of.. parallax?, you've got going on as you look around your office. One tiny nitpick: I'd have appreciated if you used a monospace font for the numbers, it makes it a little awkward to tell how much money you've got at a glance, when a 1 can make it so much shorter than other numbers.
When I started writing this, I was really curious what items would be trash and what would be saved. Having thought about it some more though, I think you made the right call in having it be arbitrary from moment to moment. Boy did I ever feel bad for actually getting the promotion.
@3ncryp73d Really appreciate you taking the time to play my game as well as offering your perspective on the messages. That's definitely something I would keep in mind and maybe work on as well. Thanks!
@tuatarian Thanks for taking your time to play! Yeah I do understand where you're coming from in terms of the lack of gameplay/content. If I ever make a full port or post-jam version, I will look into making a better gameplay experience!
@mathemagician Thanks for taking your time to play ( and finish! ) my game! I'm personally really proud of the art I did in the small amount of time I had to make the game. I appreciate the small nitpicks you gave me as it helps me improve the game where I can (or in the future games I make).
I'm also very glad you got the message I was trying to hint at with my take on this theme. I was quite worried it would be too nuanced, or tucked away behind the gameplay.
great game, nails the feeling of being stuck perfectly! unfortunately, the text bugged out and rendered vertically, letter-by letter (I think due to the text container showing up for a second and immediately disappearing), so I couldn't really read what the ending was : (
Haha numbers go brr
This was great! Excellent mood, it really made you feel stuck in a loop. The art style was perfect, and it + the constant "encouragement" feels like you were just stuck in this dreadful corporate machine.
Excellent art, compelling loop and a really fun idle game. Only issue I had was I encountered a glitch when I first tried to play the game and I couldn't gain any money. It was fixed when I refreshed it
@klettari Thanks for playing the game and bringing up the bug too! Admittedly, that was something I knew was in the game but could not, for the life of me, figure up a way to reliably fix it. But now with time constraints out of the way, I will see what I can do.
@dxk2294 Truly the satisfaction of idle games never end. I'm glad you enjoyed the game!
@layne-stokes Thanks for your kind words! That's a new glitch I've never heard of, I think I will look into it during my post-jam development.
The bottom button reminds me so much of five nights at freddies. Nice implemenation of a click and ugrade game! I wish there were more kinds of power-ups like speeding up the arm. asides from that. Great game! great atmosphere!
Nice game, it gives what it promiss. Art and sounds fit. However, maybe the the pace of the game could be a bit quicker (i mean, e.g. some timer to press the button).
Oh nooo, you left such a fantastic comment on my game, and here I am and can't even get yours to load  I tried Firefox and Safari, and on both the progress bar just stops. Hope you get a million ratings tho :hugging:
Cool game, maybe a bit too long with too less different actions. The Arms take a bit too long. But in general a good looking and sounding game.
Well Done
@grizzliusmaximus Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!
@bunkai Thanks for the feedback! I'll definitely consider it looking towards in future development!
@netmute Heya, I went ahead and quickly compiled a windows build so its now available in the itch.io website to grab if you're still down to try!
@deathstorm Hey thanks for the feedback! I think I will continue to consider upgrades to increase arm speed as well if I sit down to work on it!
@steventus Very down to try, but I'm on a Mac
@netmute Ooooh yikes! That's unfortunate. But that's alright. That helps me keep in mind to make a mac build in the future to widen the audience as well.
Fun game! Graphics are nice, and the tv sound effect is really satisfying as part of the main loop. The text from the robot started to display vertically and I was unable to read it, assuming that is not intentional? Would like to see the main loop allow you to go faster in terms of the animation/time until you can click again. I find that idle games are best when you are constantly doing _something_, even if you are not accomplishing anything really. Waiting for the arm to move game me too much time to reconsider how much I wanted to keep going. Well done!
@rhoff95 You are absolutely correct in having to make sure players have to constantly do something in idle games. I was fiddling around doing playtest and found out that it takes 5 seconds from button press, to resetting the crane so that's actually a god-awful long time compared to other idle games with instantaneous rewards!
Your comment simply strengthened my beliefs and I feel like if I take this game further, I need to re-frame the entire game design possibly.
Big thanks!
This is a pretty fun clicker and works nicely with the theme! The upgrade escalation is nicely balanced here for a jam game, and I definitely got that satisfying clicker game feeling of watching my money increase radically after each upgrade.
I also found the clicking aspect to be a little tiresome. I understand that you're supposed to be a mindless drone, but it would've also been cool to buy upgrades later that speed up my claw movement, or add a blast force to the object I'm dropping to speed up its fall. In fact, adding a bunch of dynamic movement and control to the claw (like having to use the mouse to grab and fling things around into the right boxes in a factory) could add a really entertaining control scheme to the clicking part of the game, which could solve the problem of idleness between clicks that people are talking about above.
I like the graphics and the styling too, and in an expanded version of this, I'd love to see more world building and story in terms of the corporation and its boss, as well as more use for the building map. So there's definitely something cool here, nice work!
Interesting game, nice style and polished too! Maybe it will be more challenging to make the game becomes faster, so that player must decide the correct button instantly... ^_^
@jemsmith Hey, thanks so much for taking the time to play through the game! Your feedback echoes what other comments have mentioned and I myself do agree that the game can be too slow, even as a idle game. I will take your words into consideration, as well as your suggestions! Thanks!
@yword Thanks so much! I'll consider the suggestion when I work on the game in the future if I do!
I didn't expect to see a clicker game on a jam. That game-boy feeling is so nice, there's something effective in the art style, you know immediately what you have to do. The feeling of progress isn't frustrating at all, which is nice.
Question: does the map at the beginning have any purpose besides for the story? (I didn't made it to the end so that might be a dumb question) Also, it could be nice to see other decors, or more various objects to manipulate!
Very fun game! I really really like idle games, I played this one until the end and also got the ending where you exit. I tried doing the opposite of what I was told and got some new dialogue but nothing else so I assume that's it. The graphics were nice, the audio was adequate... When I first went into the office I was confused about what to do, I didn't notice the TV, so I just pressed a button, but after seeing the TV change and how the icon on the TV was color coded with the buttons, I immediately got it.
One thing I didn't get was why the camera moves with your mouse. I think it's to add a little polish, but it moves so lightly that it's almost like the screen is shaking so it feels weird. The map is also weirdly empty, I thought I was gonna unlock something with the Game Packages upgrade but that didn't look like it did anything at all.
In general it was really fun, I just love idle games a lot!
Hahaha, I really enjoyed my Farmville-esque experience. Unfortunately didn't make it to 9999999, damn. Very well put together game with clean graphics and sound effects. Nice
@maxime-barre You know, going into this jam, I myself never expected myself to do a clicker game as well and yet here I am. I know I wanted to try making something more narrative/mood driven so I figured the clicker game enhances the storytelling with its mechanics by nature.
And you are correct: the map DOES have a purpose for the alternate ending. Regretabbly I just no longer have the time to pursue populating the map. So that's unfortunate. Thanks for playing though!
@fupi Your concerns are well documented, rest assured! I'll have a think on the camera think, I had a feeling it was too little of an effect to really work effectively - so thanks for really solidifying my hunches! Really glad you enjoyed my humble game!
@djayne Nothing like a nice warm cup of **Get back to Work, #1000789** to start the day! Glad you enjoyed the game!
Cool game! Awesome graphics and nice mood!
At every LD I have this idea of an idle game but never acted on it, it's nice to see what it could look like.
Looks really polished, but unfortunately I didn't feel incentive to keep after the first few upgrades, like the game was missing something ... But I definitely think you built really strong foundations ! And boy did you really hit the nail on the theme :,) !
Congratz on the submission !
Wow! I found myself playing this for far longer than I thought I was going to. You nailed the ~vibe~ for this and the upgrade progression was great! I am not usually a fan of clicker/idle games, but this triggered a response deep in my lizard brain and I played for quite a long time
@steventus Hey! I took the liberty to debug your WebGL version for a bit. The issue seems to be that IndexDB isn't loading. Which is correct, because it's disabled in my Firefox.
Screenshot 2020-10-08 at 10.06.57.png
I poked around the Unity forums for a bit, and the good news is you can fix it. Try to turn off "data caching" in the publishing settings in WebGL's player settings. Hope that helps
@martin183 Hey thanks! Glad you loved the art in the game!
@olivier-millochau The truth is, you have obtained the true ending by breaking away from the loop. *wink* Nevertheless, glad you enjoy the game! *The company will always welcome you, #1000789*
@bokonon Welcome to the sinkhole that is idle games! hahaha Glad you loved the game a lot!!
@netmute Hey thanks for going so far even to probe into the issue on my behalf! I really appreciate your gesture a lot. I went ahead and disabled data caching on the webGL build now so you are free to try it in your free time. I do hope it works now.
I like idle games, this one was very well made and with a slight dystopian feel to it. :) The graphics are so good and I like the sound effects too. Very easy mechanic that always feels rewarding. One of my favourite interpretations of this jam's theme so far! Super solid entry, well done :D
@steventus Well, what do you know, it works now
Ah, the clicker. Nothing more satisfying than making numbers go up, then use the numbers to make numbers go up faster. The human brain is a funny one. This type of game fits the theme perfectly  And the subtle irony of a robot arm throwing away time and batteries is not lost on me.
This, disturbingly, was a lot of fun  Well done!
What am I even doing with my life?
Screenshot 2020-10-08 at 11.59.36.png
@sarafilipa Glad you loved it so much! I'm humbled to hear you say that this was your favourite entries of many entries!
@netmute **You are doing nothing but exemplary work, #1000789. Take your promotion in pride.** I'm really glad it worked and you loved it a lot!
Screenshot (43).png Ya! I'm a good employee. That x1000 to x50000 was way too fast to get but I can understand that you did it so people don't go towards promotion before getting all upgrades. And I can say that this is more interesting than my current day job.
I loved your take on the theme. I definitely felt this job to be mind numbingly repetitive. Yet somehow it kept me engaged until the very end! the only nitpick I'd have would be about the font used for the numbers. It'd have been easier to read with all character being the same width (especially towards the end).
Love it and highly addictive! Didn't manage to make it to the promotion though.
Great job! The game has a really impressive level of polish, and it's insane that you did this all alone. I look forward to seeing your future games!
@spyranteros Glad to hear you enjoy the game! (Albeit, the fact that it is more interesting than your dayjob is.. interesting in its own right)
@gamedev-and-architecture Thanks! Really happy you enjoyed the game! I'll keep your words into consideration regarding the character width. I'll definitely have to look up how to make that happen.
@chesschaser Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed the game (and all its addictiveness hehehehehe)
@forgeronstudio Hey, glad to see you like it! If you like my work alot, I am most active on my twitter which you can follow [here](https://twitter.com/SteventusGames)
I love tycoon games, probably put more than enough time to achieve the final goal. nice textures, good sound effects. well done
Really nice game overall, well done.
To nitpick, I did find the ramp up and gameplay a bit too slow compared to idle games that I'm used too, and the TV sound was a bit harsh for the relaxing/methodic idle play I expected.
Good job making the game.It was good but it was too slow paced for me and the text bugged out. It got written vertically in a single line so I could not read it. :)
Great, atmospheric art and cool narrative.
omg, it took me a long time, I finally got a promotion    nice game
@arad-hamidsamiee Hey thanks! Really appreciate you loving the game! Hope that promotion was worth it! *heh*
@elemental-zeal-game-studios Hey thanks for the feedback! I've never thought of the tv sound to be too harsh but I will definitely take your words into consideration.
@karin-g Thanks for playing the game!! Really appreciate it, yeah unfortunately that was a bug in the game and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet.
@harrm Thanks a lot! Glad you like it!
@guimoliveira Hey thanks! Glad you love it so much!
Lol, I did it till $-1000, so I wonder - Is there an ending for reaching too low? I like to see my ingame boss going insane when I do everything wrong. Idk, the first thing I thought about is to do the opposite instead of doing a task as intended. It feels like it could be a "Papers, please" type of game <3
I really liked this game. It fits the theme well and it the atmosphere was spot on. You really do stop listening to the bosses praise after a while. Also reminded me of why I quit playing WoW. buttongame.png
Cool stuff, a very nice idea with good execution
I play incremental games quite often and I love variations like yours that put you in a unique setting. Sure the core gameplay gets a bit repetitive, but a) I think that was the point you were going for, and b) like any good incremental, the carrot on a stick are the upgrades. You have good upgrades where the player not only understands the power spike they'll get from them, but they're also spaced out reasonably well enough that they feel like they can get it in a reasonable amount of time.
I was always tempted to go idle and leave it alone, but every time I got some money, I was always close to the active upgrade (microtransaction) so I felt obligated to buy that and play manually for a while to be efficient haha.
I actually really like the screen movement. It gives some kind of feeling to an otherwise static looking screen. I'm gonna have to borrow that idea for similar stuff, I didn't realize it'd be so effective.
Nice entry, it can be hard to innovate in the incremental genre but you have a really unique presentation!
PS. I saw that you like hard games in your profile. You might like my entry this jam :)
@lunarstrain Hahahah! I can't believe I did not implement something for repeated 'mistakes'! I am extremely humbled to hear that you'd compare this game to the masterpiece of Papers, Please. Thanks so much!
@super-hadoken Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the game alot!
@dev-dwarf Thanks so much for your kind words!
@peachtreeoath Hey thanks a lot for your feedback! I really appreciate it! And you're right that I like hard games, I don't mind checking your game out.
For better or for worse, [your game made for some excellent background noise for my buddies and I as we chatted about random stuff for like half an hour.](https://www.twitch.tv/videos/765905747?t=00h56m12s)
In my opinion, that's the hallmark of a good idle game right there.
I liked the look and personality of this one, and the exponential mechanics are exactly what I enjoy in games like this.
Very nicely done, I liked this one a lot!
What a fantastic idle game! I especially love the bleak color scheme, it really goes well with the mood you put together. I am particallarly fond of idle games and this one was a joy. Great job :)
@coleslaughter I see you at 1:22:20 commenting about me eh? ;) Hey but on another note, I can't believe you actually went all the way for the promotion ON STREAM. It's an idle game for a reason hence I never really submitted the game for any streamers.
Glad you guys enjoy this nonsensical game. Just glancing over the stream I figured I needed to somehow make the game run in background when you click off. It's something that's probably essential in an idle game. Thanks for playing my game man! Appreciate it!
@sophiemae0 Hey thanks! Glad you love it a lot! The art and mood was something I worked on for a long time!
What a complete waste of time. Brilliant game :)
Very good entry! It is not very clear what the 3rd upgrade does, but anyway, I had a lot of fun withi it! Good job!
Surprisingly addictive game when considering the minimalistic gameplay it has. I was little disapointed that after getting the promotion i didn't get a new room on the map or something else involving the map. Good work! :)
