LD44 — Your life is currency

Limberman by krasse 2019-05-19T16:24:16Z

The graphics and music are amazing! The world generation is also pretty decent.

I feel that your character starts off too powerful so need not to worry about selling body parts.

Also I found that the rooms were too small to properly navigate, I'd end up getting sucked through a door whilst trying to move around a rock.

I'll presume that it's a bug where the camera locks on to the players position rather than locking on to show the entire room that you're battling in?

Ocean View Hotel by Eldy 2019-05-11T10:49:11Z

A really fun and polished entry! The story and atmosphere of the game was amazing thanks to the visuals and audio design!

I found the aiming quite tricky as you cant aim whilst pointing the gun and I was too sure which enemy I was hitting. I found myself having to re-listen to the ghosts as they didnt recognise me pressing or holding Y on the keyboard. I found it a little too dark in places especially where the torchlight doesnt illuminate any of the surrounding area.

GERYDAS TOWER by Syrapt0r 2019-05-15T22:17:53Z

The game has fantastic music and a wonderful story written behind it! My only constructive criticism is that the levels are huge and that you could quite easily complete the game without engaging in combat.

I suggest that you take a look at the arcade game Gauntlet 1985 as it has a similar game play style. You could make the levels in your game smaller with a horde of enemies standing between you and the exit which would make it a lot more thrilling.

Battalia by Krassenstein 2019-05-19T11:14:18Z

Nice graphics and music, but the game play felt a little too slow and easy. The rules section was rather confusing and the rule on training made me believe that you could upgrade your units to be faster / more powerful, which could be a nice addition for any future updates.

I felt the need to scroll through the level was unnecessary as you could quite easily fit the entire level on the screen.

One idea for furthering gameplay is that you and your enemy could setup a barracks along the route to a castle as a way for punishing the other player playing badly.

Kill Paouf V by shubart 2019-05-01T20:44:41Z

Congrats on writing your own engine during the game jam, it must've been super tough! The game is enjoyable but I found that the difficulty curve is a little high as it threw me into the deep end and died within the first few waves of enemies.

Mint Sprint by kaiclavier 2019-05-19T17:22:58Z

It's a nice challenging puzzle game, but it took me far too long to figure out that this was no candy factory!

Moving yourself and pushing conveyors feels a little springy and often found myself having to restart because of it. The difficulty curve is quite extreme once you get past the first few levels and an undo button would be appreciated than a restart.

I didn't quite get why I needed to fill the bag up once you completed the conveyor circuit unless you were originally going for gameplay like lemmings where you needed to place everything in position as quick as possible or you'd start losing metal to make enough money to reach your goal?

I felt like the game needs some background music because the sound effects of the machines maybe funny at first but quickly becomes annoying.

The objects on the conveyors would often get stuck or be lost due to the physics.

Idle Idol by Daniel Moreno 2019-05-01T21:36:05Z

A really beautiful looking game with a great sound track to match. I would've preferred to have an auto-clicker built in.

Methods for Instructing Thine Dragon by cdrch 2019-05-01T20:34:39Z

There's really nice artwork and audio in this game. Unfortunately it is quite difficult due to there being so few mushrooms to bounce on, so if there was an ending I couldnt reach it.

Overworked by MsAlison 2019-05-01T21:09:06Z

I couldn't figure out how to play the game. I checked the description and comments here until I found the controls hidden away as a text file with the game.

Floppy Fetus by Baenorh 2019-05-01T07:20:43Z

Easier than Flappy Bird which is a huge improvement, but at the cost of having to take risks to replenish your health!

10/10 would be a fetus again! :baby:

Ollo's Life by Memel06 2019-04-30T19:44:13Z

I really enjoyed playing the game, its got very nice music. I really like the concept of transferring lives from the cat to save people, however I would have liked to have seen this used as a puzzle to create large branching pathways of a story.

BattleType by Sebity 2019-05-11T10:11:24Z

On normal mode the enemies reached almost the end of the screen before words actually appeared.

The Last Dragon by FlyingKiwi 2019-05-19T16:35:54Z

The graphics in this game a really nice! However it's a bit jarring having hardly any audio in this game, which would give the player better feed back as to what is going on. For example using sound effects to warn the player that they're about to have a crow fly into their face!

Playing the bug fixed version, it appears as if the only audio that plays is the fire sound effect.

Blood Type Z by Ceuteum 2019-05-19T16:53:20Z

The music and audio of this entry is great and probably the strongest part of it.

The style of the protagonist's idle stance is very nice albeit the majority of the graphics in the game are very rough and unfinished. I understand that life gets in the way and your artist had to pull out of the Jam, but I'd like to see them return and put in more of their beautiful sprite work.

Gameplay felt very samey with levels feeling like you started at the beginning of each level once completed. There's a lot of collision issues where the player can get stuck and such. The store felt intuitive having to select which vial you wished to purchase with the number keys.

I never quite understood what the other coloured vials were for.

Dragon's Den by LittleW00D 2019-05-19T18:03:17Z

Thank you all for your feedback!

@mlleab & @ristoretto I'm currently looking into adding different styles / layouts of stages that progressively get harder as you go along with the odd bonus round added in between stages to be separate to the endless mode.

I had originally planned to have a nice opening cutscene to introduce the player to the world but had to leave it out due to prioritizing bug fixes with my very limited free time during the jam. .

@dovakla Thanks, I'll look into removing or increasing the time it takes for stolen treasure to despawn. I added the despawn timer in as I found that it became unmanageable during the wave rush of enemies.

@elysiagriffin It was a pleasure watching you play my game live and I got a lot of game play feedback from you. I immediately started working on new backgrounds as it wasn't obvious to everyone that the dragon could fly over the gaps in the lanes. At some point I will get an online leader board setup.

Victor Sold His Soul by Fear Games 2019-05-11T10:06:22Z

The audio and visuals are nice especially the twisted / warped perspective. The opening story adds a nice touch but I have no idea what I am supposed to do when I switch to the Red dude. When playing as Victor I felt that his movement was quite slow compared to the huge world that he has to explore. The map was sort of handy to figure out where you can go but not where you needed to go.

Swords and Kreatures by Ausstein 2019-05-19T16:04:14Z

The tutorial unfortunately didn't explain how to play the game that well. I eventually figured out how to play through trial and error. Having the cards being represented by a counter made it super hard to tell who was an enemy and which card over powers the other.

My suggestions would be to increase the size of the view for the world and have placed cards as an icon on the tiles. When you click on the tile or hover over the title it should show the card occupying it as this would allow you to lose the clutter of cards on the sides of the screen making the game more manageable to players.

I admire the ambition to make something big and grand but my suggestion for future jams is to go with something simple that you think will only take a single day to make, because it'll probably turn out to be more complicated than you first think. The bonus of finishing early is that you get to polish the game and add new features whilst having a completed entry.

Swords and Kreatures by Ausstein 2019-05-20T22:00:21Z

The Post LD Jam teaser looks pretty sweet! I can already see the possibilities on how you can evolve this game beyond its concept in the jam!

Blood Legacy by Magnanix 2019-05-11T09:52:22Z

It's a fun and addictive tower defense game with nice visuals. I do find the time between waves far too long during the first few waves. I couldn't figure out how to efficiently build and spend blood to progress far. I have no idea what the DNA collectable is for.

Blood Coins by TheItCrOw 2019-05-01T21:25:29Z

Really nice graphics in this game. I found the wings to bee too sensitive that I actually thought I broke the game. Unfortunately I couldn't tell if I was dealing any damage to the enemies and I felt that the aerial combat was a little difficult with the control scheme.

Bioenfluencer by caevv 2019-05-19T15:31:36Z

Really neat concept setting up your own genetic monster making workshop, I'd love to see this further developed into a fully fledged business simulator with some monster fighting action!

The stats at the top are a bit hard to figure out what does what. I only figured out that sweat stops you from entering the matrix.

I played the HTML5 version and the post jam and it's nice to the adjustments / fixes and improvements to the gameplay that you made.

KYNIGI - LIFE, DEATH & ROBOTs by florG 2019-05-11T10:23:46Z

The graphics in this are amazing especially the 3D models!!! However it does feel as if this is where the majority of your time was spent during the jam as there are a few issues with gameplay that really detract from what could be quite a great dungeon shooter.

The difficulty is rather extreme at the beginning as there were around a dozen enemies spawned on top of me in a small room and I died within seconds.

The aim sensitivity is far too high on both controller and mouse, often I found myself looking directly up or down whilst trying to aim.

It's not very obvious how you're supposed to stay alive when everything you do kills you.

There is significant slow down / FPS drop on the web version.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Reel Deep by frenchie 2021-04-30T22:43:50Z

I don't think my words will summarise how great this entry is, so I'll keep it brief!

You really blew it out of the water with this entry, which is my favourite out of all that I've seen and player.

The gameplay is insanely addive, the graphics and music are wonderful!

The upgrade system works wonderfully, although once fully upgraged it makes it too easy to reach the bottom and grab the chest.

My only minor piece of criticism is the button mapping to use the repellant; Why 'C'??? It would've made more sense to make it the spacebar.

Bug: Golden hook only appears underwater and not during the cast-off or treasure banking animation.

For a future update I would love to see an angler fish included in the lower dephs that the player could sacrifice a treasure slot for in order to see at lower depths.Screenshot (79).png

Holey Hell by managore 2021-04-29T21:42:34Z

I love the style and that you choose which level you want to start a new game on.

The difficulty spike is quite high and early and doesn't give new players much of an opportunity to get to grips with the controls and hazzards filling the screen.

The controls are quite confusing as I was expecting them to work the other way round. The player's jump is quite short which prevented me from safely getting to specific parts of a level.

Overall a really sweet little game with great graphics and premise. I'd like to see how you'd further develop it.

Deadlift by slimabob 2021-04-28T17:33:29Z

I love the visuals and the atmosphere, but the game is let down by the gun which feels under-powered and lack of feedback when shooting enemies. I was unable to understand the voice over as it blended in with the music and sound effects.

Fetal Fury by Squidly 2021-05-03T16:35:11Z

Pretty decent entry with good music and graphics reminiscent of a NG game.

The one hit kill is a bit brutal when there's an enemy at the other side of a ledge.

Disco Inferno by Simon Rahnasto 2021-04-29T21:27:11Z

I really love the audio design and the humour / character interaction in this entry.

The disco aethetic mixed with the crt shader was making my eyes water towards the end of the game.

Dodge roll didn't really add anything to the gameplay as you could easily dodge most bullets. The gun pick ups could do with more ammo and most of them felt like downgrades due to the slow fire-rate and accuracy, there was no indication if they did more damage.

Over all a really solid experience.

A Cat in the Aliens' Lair by Sheinxy 2021-04-29T22:21:14Z

The story and humour was wonderful, but the aliens being able to see you regardless of their movement direction and your ability to see them on screen felt a little unfair.

Overall a nice short story with nice graphics and music.

Dream: The Temple Within by dominikscholz 2021-04-28T17:18:59Z

I really like the graphical style and the gameplay is really solid. Only critisms I can give is that the boss was a bit big to fit on the screen and there wasn't an audio cue to indicate that I was doing any damage unlike other enemies.

If you were to continue developing this I'd like to see more weapons and enemies, the zanier the better because after all it's alljust a dream?

Below the Ocean by Ismael Rodriguez 2021-04-27T16:56:36Z

This feels more like a demo from a finished game than something made within 72 hours for a game jam.

The mechanics work really well with the theme and are excelently implemented. The music is extremely catchy but doesn't overstay its welcome.

At times the player's movement feels a little too floaty which resulted in a few deaths. My only grip with the game is the gems, some were a bit too hard to collect and I would've liked to have been given the opportunity to quickly go back to a previous checkpoint and retry, especially as I overshot gem 4 and had no way of getting back to it.

Below the Ocean by Ismael Rodriguez 2021-04-27T22:24:17Z

Yeah it's fully understandable that it's really hard to fit a small amount of features into a game jam entry within a tight deadline; I should know, I restarted and made a completely different game within 10 hours.

Floatiness was probably the wrong word to use to describe the controls as it worked really well to show that the game took place underwater. I was mainly referiing to the left and right movement of the character felt like it was going from one extreme to another and didn't allow for precise platforming controls.

This is still my favourite game out of the dozens that I've played through!

6 Feet Under by theStoff 2021-04-29T22:55:24Z

Really nice art style and music. The main game mechanic is a nice twist but too hard to master, especially with the difficulty spike after the first level. Unfortunately I couldn't complete the game after spending a considerable amount of time of trying.

I would've prefered to have had full control over the character whilst drilling rather than have it directly plummet you into a death pit at the bottom of the screen.

Wellfell by Kylazaur 2021-04-28T12:05:59Z

This game has really great graphics and music, it's a shame that most people will not get to hear the full length of the music tracks.

The UI and menu's are really polished, but feel like they detracted away time from improving the gameplay and building upon it, such as more levels, collectibles etc. The movement and control of the character is pretty much spot on, but I would've liked to have the ability to speed up or slow down the skeleton so I could more precisely navigate the obstacle course. This could open up the game to challenges such as speed running and score attack.

Overall a really great jam entry that y'all should be proud of! 😘

🐞Game crashes if you complete the first level and start with a different coloured skeleton.

Third Party by Duckonaut 2021-05-03T16:19:01Z

The stealth and the faction system is really good, along with the graphics and audio.

Pressing "E" to enter and exit the elevator seems unnecessary and the 30 seconds between entering and exiting the elevator is torture and was the main reason why I stopped playing after several levels.

The enemy AI needs a bit of tweaking as it feels unfair that they can aim at and instantly kill the player as soon as they drop their body shield.

Overall this is a really great entry and I'd like to see how you would improve and expand upon the idea.

Dr.Pupper Heart Dogter MD by AwrGameDev 2021-04-29T22:42:41Z

Nice little game with a story. The controls feel a little sticky doing small movement and become quite sensitive once you begin moving.

Deeper Inside LD48 by Ansh Mishra 2021-04-29T22:48:33Z

Definitely a unique take on the theme. I played the post fix version, but you should really upload a version of the game with the fix built into the zip file rather than having the player manually patch the game.

I'm gonna be the deepest! by trieckaga 2021-04-29T22:28:55Z

A simple game that highlights the dangers of gambling. There's not much really to the game as I would've loved to been able to spend the money I earned to improve my chances of not dying in later rounds.

How Deep is Your Love by Bruno Cafe 2021-05-03T17:05:14Z

We all encounter problems during game jams, sometimes a little bigger than we hope. But you managed to get a game done and that's all that matters.

You would come first place in the humor category for that twist ending!

SPERMA by the neon shark 2021-04-28T22:02:39Z

A really unique take on the theme and suprisingly adicktive gameplay. ;) Only critques are that the random level design can be hit or miss and the benefits of some of the upgrades aren't very clear.

Not too sure why the game is completely unplayable in Firefox.

Overall a really great jam entry!

LD49 — Unstable

gunstable by torcado 2021-10-05T09:15:51Z

A really nice polished LD entry. The graphics are cute and the character's controls feel nice. I would've like more variety in enemies and some music.

Perhaps for a future update you could make the world become more glitchy the longer the player is in a wave?

Burning Ravager by sinclairstrange 2021-10-05T12:52:54Z

Pretty incredible for a game created over 72 hours. The art, music and menu's are really well made. I'd love to see this game further developed!

Portal Rescue by Vimlark 2021-10-05T12:56:51Z

Pretty sweet combination of two different games. I feel that the building's structure is a little too heavy / robust as some pieces barely move when hit by the meteor. I think adding in a powerup to super charge the meteor to be fast / deal more damage would make for some explosive action!

Fight of the Bumblebee by Quackqack 2021-10-05T09:50:52Z

This is a really nice polished game! The graphics are cute and the sounds are awesome, especially when the the bear-borg roars. The platforms are a little small and it's hard to tell if you're going to fall into the pit. But then again shouldn't the bee be able to fly?

I would've liked to have been able to directly attack the boss myself rather than refill stationry turrets.

Stien by Bauke Regnerus 2021-10-05T13:20:24Z

I like the graphics and the sound and music was amazing and very catchy. A bit of a learning curve to this game, especially as I didn't know if I could use the card's ability. The pace of the game is a little slow, but that's mostly due to the dice rolling.

I think that entry really needs a checkpoint system as I would've like to retried to beat the enemy that I died against rather than start from the beginning.

Coffee Crisis by Outfrost 2021-10-05T13:28:26Z

I survived the day and served zero customers. A day well spent!

Monster Mayhem by Holtzzy223 2021-10-05T09:08:33Z

The illustrations are amazing and the game is really simple and easy to learn. The music is nice but doesn't really fit the overall theme of battling card monsters. I'd personally like to see more info' in the game as I have no idea how much damage a card deals or how much health me or the enemy has.

Note that there's a bug where the game will crash if you click the +1 card button upon defeating an enemy.

Potion Commotion by Frozendoze 2021-10-07T23:10:30Z

A really solid entry with great art and music. The gameplay feels very polished with well designed levels that make excellent use of introduced mechanics. It's great to see how much everyone has improved since the last LD entry, which makes me excited to see what you make for LD 50!

At times the player would get stuck or the momentun wouldn't transfer.

For some reason my anti-virus see's the game as a Trojan, so please enjoy my potato pc whilst you can.Untitled.png

Un-Stabled by Denhette 2021-10-05T13:39:30Z

This was a really fun entry to play! I wish that there were more levels and obstacles

Unsteady Bounce by Comfy 2021-10-05T09:28:08Z

The graphics and physics of the game are really nice. The control scheme is really confusing and it doesn't help that none of the sliders are labeled. I personally would have made it so that the player just controls the angle and jump power, rather than the oscillating launch angle slider as it makes it too hard to quickly complete the game.

Kattonauten by Elastic 2021-10-05T10:07:05Z

It's a really nice modern take on the classic arcade game Moonlander with really nice sounds and 1-bit graphics.

The game is addictive, but unfortunately too difficult especially at the beginning due to the way that the player's ship controls. Even just lightly tapping the movement keys, I found my ship suddenly slamming into a bouncy wall and too my doom. There's a few section in the game where the hover stops working and you free-fall through large drops filled with hazards that you have barely enough time to react to.

It could definitely do with more checkpoints, especially after that pit you have to fall down near the end of the game. Untitled.png
