Quite a interesting game! I loved the style and the mood the game presents.

torculus 2019-04-30 02:11

I love the feel of the game! The demon sounds are particularly cool. The skewed perspective on the camera makes it feel unsettling!

riper 2019-04-30 10:31

A very fascinating game, the graphics are beautiful, the style is fully sustained (I found one bug, you don’t have a coliseum in a dark forest, and because of this you can go beyond the map, and everything is fine)

ougrouk 2019-04-30 11:03

Really interesting art and sound. You feel the mood from the first second! Amazing submission

retti01 2019-04-30 11:58

I love the art and sound. Fascinating game

mimusangel 2019-04-30 12:24

A game for quite funny, a good job of the sound!

beastiebeastie 2019-04-30 12:28

Love the style, art, sounds and storyline. The map in particular was charming. The idea of the game having two sections of different gameplay is brilliant, though I did find the cultist section a little less interesting as after escorting Victor home I just had to stand outside his house and he wouldn't dare come out. The game controls are simple and effective, didn't encounter any bugs.

preda 2019-04-30 12:34

Cool graphics and very good mood.

akros 2019-04-30 14:42

If this is your first try, very impressing!

caevv 2019-04-30 19:05

nice work especially considering its your first time! the asmosphere was really good, also impressive that you did your first game in 3D! the maps looks cool & the sound gives a really good feeling

tricky-fat-cat 2019-04-30 19:29

Pretty nice work with camera and visuals, despite they are simple, they looks cool and make the atmosphere of the game.

tiagorrech 2019-04-30 21:09

This is impressive for a first jam! I really, really like the visuals, as I love games that mix 2D and 3D like Paper Mario. Als the characters look very cute, and there's a nice presentation at the start. Well done!

plexsoup 2019-04-30 22:20

General: Love the character design and the premise! Visuals and audio were really good. Impressive (and ambitious) entry! Innovative design.

Game design, level design, genre: The 2d on 3d effect didn't quite work for me (clipping issues, no camera rotation, fixed paths). I felt really slow with such large levels. I felt frustrated by the non-interactive periods: watching the character walk with no user input after the mob touched me. Walking simulators aren't my style, so I didn't have the patience to get to the second part of the game, which might have been more interesting.

coleslaughter 2019-05-01 04:19

The off-kilter camera was an awesome choice, really helped set the uneasy mood. :)

I really like the mood and general tone of this game. The art style is Tim Burton-esque and the sound design is eerie and ominous.

I ran into a few bugs during my playthrough. Particularly, when I tried to enter my lab with an artifact, the camera kept jittering and I kept hearing a "door closing" sound. And after that the clock stopped and I couldn't progress. :\

Still, I like the idea of this game, and would like to see more in this style!

paulhocker 2019-05-01 05:13

when lovecraft is involved it is going to be strange -- loved the artwork and odd camera angles -- thanks for making this

honest-dan 2019-05-01 07:53

Cheers for letting me play on stream! I enjoyed the original idea of the day night cycle - losing control of your character and having to "control him" through other characters. The sound design was good, and if I had a bit more time or avoided some bugs, I'd have been interested in finishing it to see what happens at the end! Good job!

viralsun 2019-05-01 09:29

@honest-dan hi, thanks for the feedback. We tried to do a bug sweep for minor issues and somehow made it worse. I'll let you know when it's fixed again.

hugovaz 2019-05-01 13:52

I liked a lot the mood and setting of the game, but I felt that if the map wasn't that big you could have time to polish more the important stuff. My difficulties in the game were the invisible colliders that block me from walking around, the big amount of text in the beginning and the lack of context in the gameplay (ex. the character starts to walk automatically without feedback).

luckfishlai 2019-05-01 14:48

@hugovaz aye, in hindsight the massive text dump at the beginning was too much 😂 Thanks for the feedback 👍

daria-toni 2019-05-01 15:05

I really like the idea of the plot, cool hand-made graphics! Like your work with sounds and colors. Therefore, it’s a shame that I often couldn’t pick up an item. Or wandered too long on a location, but this made the game... unexpected for the first time :) So, it's not a bad thing really :)

kaeveris 2019-05-01 19:39

I like the idea of the game. I feel the text at the beginning was too long, but in general the game has a nice unique atmosphere, cool artstyle and sounds!

tangiblegames 2019-05-02 12:15

Hi Guys! Greetings from a group of 35 something year old mates from Russia/Switzerland. Any chance you can compile the game for macOS?

fear-games 2019-05-02 14:38

@tangiblegames I shall have a look this weekend and see if I can get a Mac version sorted 😊

tangiblegames 2019-05-02 15:16

@fear-games Thanks! :thumbsup:

fear-games 2019-05-04 20:37

@tangiblegames I have added a Mac version to the Itch.io Page. Unfortunately it is untested as none of us have a Mac so fingers crossed it works ok :D

tangiblegames 2019-05-04 20:51

@fear-games Cool, I will try it out (tomorrow morning only) and report! :sunglasses:

goerp 2019-05-05 11:22

Ha, this scores 5/5 for the theme! Great atmosphere as well! Good storytelling. Having two game mechanics for day and for night I like a lot. For a first game jam I fond it very impressive.

Playing the game a bit annoying at times, because there is so little room to evade the priest or the mob. I think it would help if you could see your position and teh positions of others on the map.

All in all my favorite this far.

oillen 2019-05-05 14:22

Cool idea and a good mood :smiley_cat: the game is a bit averagy, but solid. Hope you will participate in future Ludum Dare or other events. Work on your realization and there will be nice games.

mindtricks 2019-05-05 16:17

Interesting game and concept, I love the mood. Too bad that the camera is a little bit tilted :\ (at least in the first version)

tangiblegames 2019-05-05 21:27

@fear-games Yes, the game now runs on macOS! Haven't encountered any serious problems yet. :v:

icxon 2019-05-08 09:56

Downloaded 'VSHS Updated_Win', collected all the items -- nothing happened . Probably I missed something in the tutorial or the game is still unbeatable. I spent ~50 minutes playing it, which is much more than I usually spend to play'n'rate since there are a lot of other games in the queue. But I was curious to see the ending. And I still want to see it!

Here is one of my attempts:

The audio and visuals are nice especially the twisted / warped perspective. The opening story adds a nice touch but I have no idea what I am supposed to do when I switch to the Red dude. When playing as Victor I felt that his movement was quite slow compared to the huge world that he has to explore. The map was sort of handy to figure out where you can go but not where you needed to go.

viralsun 2019-05-11 17:37

@icxon Thanks for sticking with the game long enough to complete it, sorry the win screen etc didn't trigger. That must have been very frustrating. Honestly we bit off more than we could chew due to it being our first LD, and we didn't realise how ambitious doing dual charecters was going to be until late into development. Unfortunately the code has ended up as a lot of spaghetti, and bug fixing seems to end up causing more problems than it fixes. Having tested it a few times, I've only managed to trigger the win screen once, so there's definitely something going on there. If it makes you feel any better, it is just a win screen with the old god rising up and victor looking scared, so you didn't miss out on much.

joshanthony1990 2019-05-11 21:53

I really liked the atmosphere in this game. Superb job on the graphics and the audio. Things felt appropriately creepy, and I really enjoyed the presentation.

I had trouble with playing the game. The narrow paths make it hard to dodge the enemies. Victor's slowness and being forced to wait for him to be physically moved to restart locations made this particularly difficult to work around. I also didn't see any indication of whether I was making progress.

Good effort, overall!

archimagus 2019-05-16 01:08

Hi, great mood. The graphics are mostly great, but sort of a mixed bag. Like, the shader on the houses seems off, and the same with the rocks, compared to everything else. Also, some of the trees clip and flicker. The audio is good, although, I'd have left out the audio on the villagers rather than pulling in some 3rd party stuff. I'm not going to complain really as its such a small part I don't think that should affect your audio score, but still. The gameplay itself wasn't exactly fun, especially the cultist section where I couldn't really figure out what I was supposed to do. I didn't like that it seemed the last item I collected would drop on the ground when switching characters, even if I had brought it back to the house already.

anandhi 2019-05-21 10:53

Cool graphics and very nice art.
