@Domin77 Sorry about the bug, we will fix it
The whole "typing of the gods" idea is cool, but it doesn't feel like you have a whole lot of control over your characters - the difference between your two people isn't communicated, and it's hard to judge how much health your fighters have. Also It took me a bit to realize how exactly you're supposed to fight - it isn't entirely clear that the two people in the upper-left corner are summonable!
@Osspial ok we will make it clear in the future
We are just working on fixing the bugs now, hopefully will be available soon.
Also, I will see if I can update this page and add some instructions explaining how to play the game.
Fun game. Loved the typing lane-defense genre mashup. I wanted my champions to come down specific lanes, but they seemed to appear in random lanes. Could use a little animation on the sprites.
@plexsoup Thank you so much for your feedback and I am happy you enjoyed the game. The portals follow a pattern and if you watch them, you will be able control when your fighters are summoned through them. It was by design.
Regarding the animations we did create the animated sprites, unfortunately we were unable to add them to the game as we ran out of time.
So you use your life points to spawn soldiers (Igor & Zoth) and by killing the enemies you gain life points. I tried clicking on Igor and Zoth, but I couldn't get them to spawn. Once the enemies reach the left side they turn into blue smoke, does this also decrease life points?
@mika-la-grand To gain life points you type the words that appear on the screen. Also when you play the game there is a word that says 'Summoning:' in the bottom left corner, if you type a word and get it wrong it will appear red next to the 'Summoning:', and once the enemies reach the left side it does decrease your life points.
The typing + lane defense combo was cool; i wish there was more control over the lanes Igor and Zoth spawned in. Sweet concept!
I thought this was a neat idea and pretty well executed. Nice!
So polished for a jam game! Great job!
Nice idea worth further development
On normal mode the enemies reached almost the end of the screen before words actually appeared.
Really like the idea! I faced a few bugs for example I couldn't see some words completely! they were out of screen but generally a very good game
Thank you all for all the great comments and feedback. We will be taking all those points and using them to improve on the game after the Jam has finished. We have a lot of ideas where we would like to take this game and have already started planning what we will be adding for the next release.
The game is nice and has potential! Good job! :)
Cool game! Good idea, using typing like mechanic! Maybe there are some issues that you'all can improve: the resolution is one: I made fullscreen and window option and the UI it's difficult to see, also the behaviour of the game it's sometimes difficult to understand, and improve the gamefeel of the game. Overall it's a great game! Congrats! Keep making games! :fist:
Nice idea! But I thing that the game is a bit hard at the begining more than it has to be. I love the music and the idea of typing the one that you want to summon.
It's been a while since I've played a typing game, so that was a nice surprise. I had some issues with the spells spawning above the play area so I couldn't see them, and I didn't realize you could move the portal yourself until most of the way through the game, so it would have been nice if that was explained on like a controls screen or something. I also had some issues with too many enemies spawning without spells, so I couldn't summon any fighters to defend from. And I would suggest making the spells and fighter names not case-sensitive to type. But it fits the theme and is a pretty unusual genre, so good job!
Fun concept, well executed, good job! Could do with some kind of ingame tutorial to make things clearer, and personally I think having to capitalise every word is an inconvenience that doesn't add anything to the game, but thats being really nitpicky! Maybe in the future version you could implement some kind of rock-paper-scissors type enemy system so the player has to pick which unit to send out to counter what ene enemy has.
It was a bit confusing but strangely fun! I can see this concept expanded (more characters to summon, more typing challenges, more variations...) into a full game. Good work!
I'm not sure why but sometimes the portal would move on it's own without me pressing anything. Also as other users mentioned, it would be nice to make word spawn rate less random. But besides that, I think you did a great job, and I believe that the game has potential to be improved upon. Well done!
Typing Tower Defense game, eh? Now that's definitely a genre that I haven't heard of before! Sweet idea!
I think the one thing this game is lacking a little bit of is feedback. I often found myself very confused about the results of any action I took. Summoning guys drained my health, yes. But there was no sound to notify the player of that. I had a similar issue with spells. I found out after a while that they heal me, but I didn't really notice until I saw my health higher than I remembered it being. Also, it wasn't immediately apparent what summoning guys did until they made it to the edge of the screen or started fighting other minions, so there was a loooooong wait time between me taking an action I was unfamiliar with, and seeing the result of that action.
I love the idea of this though, and would love to see it fleshed out! This is definitely one of the more unique entries I've played this jam, well done!
