I can tell you put a lot of time and effort into the story and dialog in this game. After a few minutes the reading became a bit tedious for me. Overall, Nice work!

This is quite difficult and almost a bit brute force-y depending on how you perceive the questions, pretty neat overall.
Brilliant and amazing. Lovely art, enticing puzzles, and beautiful writing. Nice work all around.
And of course, the addition of a cat only multiplies the awesomeness.
This was so good, but then by the time I got to where the grue is and I clicked on my inventory i got stuck in the inventory and couldn't proceed with the game. But this was amazing while I was playing it, such a cool concept.
Really enjoyed the game. Great story with good puzzles. I didnt know about the save feature so when i died the first time the autosave had me in a loop where I could not continue to play so I had to quickly speedrun to where I was. Other than that I had a good time solving the game
A nice modern take on the text adventure. I liked the mood and the puzzle difficulty seemed well tuned. I didn't make it to the end yet, but I think I'll revisit it. Nice writing.
Wow a difficult game for the jam. I had a hard time and gave up half way. Cheat mode please?
Great Game! It the story is well written and the shifting perspective mechanic is really innovative, though it can be hard to figure out what what the game wants you to do.
I really really liked this! The puzzles are awesome and I love it a lot.
Was very challenging but I absolutely adore the thought and love put into this!
Incredible. Difficult but intruiging enough to be enjoyable. Figuring out how the perspective mechanics work was confusing but once I did it was amazing. Beutifully done
This is such a cool game! I love the concept, puzzles, writing, and execution! I'm not much of an interactive fiction player, but this is very very cool stuff! The cypher and the perceiving things as something else? Absolutely awesome. The backgrounds and audio are definitely beneficial to the atmosphere. I love it!
I love narrative driven jam games, and this one is so clean. Everything from the pacing of UI animations to the subtle sound effects when you pick things up all brings together a solid experience. And that's not even counting the quality of the writing! And the clever use of mutating text for the perspective mechanic. The audio is the cherry on top!
This was a great game. An interesting and innovative way for creating a text based world. I liked the idea of changing the text itself to change the story. Very clever. Kudos! Great LD entry
The writing is really good! I really liked your puzzles. I'm a big fan of horror, and more surreal things. It's really crazy how much this text adventure was right up my ally. Great work!
Oh, this is amazing! I really like the story that you've made for this, there's clearly a ton of work put into it! I love the narrative and the writing that you've put into things! The only problem I noticed was at the very beginning where the font visibly loaded in for me, but that's about it! Very clever!
Very nice. Original how you alter perception to proceed, or at least I haven't seen it done before. Puzzles are of just the right difficulty, made me feel smart for managing to proceed.
Having just played through, this is fucking brilliant, it must have been hard to make something as complex and bug-free. Even made me feel some goosebumps in the end. Great job!
Great game, loved the writing, the puzzles are hard, and i may have missed clues (as english is not my first language) but i will try harder ;)
I like the ideia, i like the gameplay, it's very hard, i took a good time trying to go down the spider web haha and the storytelling is amazing, in general 5/5, i realy like the game
The writing is really good! You added a lot of features that a usual jam wouldn't have, like saving/loading, blind color support. Great job!!
@imdigitalji @mizatorian @snickers-cat @twigg @vincent-abel-grimalt @pink-spaceman
Based on your feedback about the difficulty, I've added a hint system and a couple more in-game clues. I hope that will point people in the right direction if they get stuck!
Thanks for the feedback and, if you have time, please let me know if I overlooked giving hints for any of the parts you found difficult. <3
really nice game ! gg
How to describe this if not to say that it is quite remarkable?
It just has this weird atmosphere that hooked me up instantaneously! Although I got a bit confused at first as to what I was supposed to do, I quickly got the hang of it and I found the puzzles to be quite interesting, challenging enough so you would have to think how to progress, but not impossible! (Plus the hints are a really welcomed addition, I had to use them to get the lantern because I understood what I was supposed to do but not what I was supposed to put as features x3)
This game is a must play!
@abigailcorfman Thanks for the hints. They helped a lot. But now, after going down th eweb and climbing, i went into the main menu/options, and then i couldn't resume the game. Load shows all unsaved games, so i could not resume.
The atmosphere you've created with your writing is just amazing, and it's nice that there is fitting BGM accompanying you on this journey. Really sets the mood of mystery and wonder.
At first, I missed the item transformation mechanic and thought that I locked my progress somehow. The fact that you can transform symbols on the wall into words and a key, but can't do anything with them was really confusing.
Thankfully I've figured things out when I played through the beginning the second time
Nonetheless, it was a great story, and I'm happy that I've experienced it
It's been said. I say it again: This was fucking amazing! (Even if there is a fucking wolf that I totally tried to ignore...)
Jupp. Nothing to add. :heartpulse:
@cheeks @mizatorian
Thanks for letting me know about the bug! Frustratingly, I haven't been able to recreate it. If you have any more details about what preceded it I'd be grateful. I've been going down to the web area and flipping in and out of the menu and inventory.
In order to at least ameliorate it, I'm implemented a more formal autosave as you go down each of the levels. That should keep people from being pushed back to the start.
Really great writing here and mood. I really like the mechanic of perceiving things differently adds a whole lot more depth to the game and is very unique. I'm glad some music kicked in as at first I thought that there wasn't any. Perhaps some sound effects for some of the items would be a good inclusion if you take it further? Overall very cool idea well executed!
Wonderful game! Unfortunately wasn't able to finish - when I grabbed a lantern and turned to a spider, and went to the dark, I decided to do something with lantern. I pressed to the lantern first and got a small window about the bug, then tried to transform it (but there was empty field instead of lantern), and in the end decided to refresh and load - and couldn't do it too. If it will be useful, I already have whiskey scotch, transformed to health bottle (didn't drink it yet, though). When you will fix it, could you mention me in the comments? Looking forward to finish it, I loved this kind of puzzle.
UPD: Loaded the previous save and finished the game. It is great, looking forward to try your other games that mentioned there! UPD 2: http://abigailcorfman.com/OpenSorcery.html do not working.
Great entry, blown away by the detail and scope of it. I could see this turning into a full game, keep up the good work!
@badabooom63
THANK YOU--That piece of information was what I needed to fix the bug. It turns out the transformation code doesn't like having two inventory items if either of them have commas.
It should be able to tolerate that now! Hopefully that will prevent more people getting lost in the darkness.
Great game - very mind bending! Unfortunately I got stuck at some point and didn't manage to continue... Think a hint button within the game would be nice, as I only afterwards noticed there were hints available.
I would ask through DMs, but LD doesn't have those, so I hope you won't mind me asking here... how graphic (either in description or with visuals, if there are some) do the spider scenes get? @abigailcorfman
Excellent game, loved it! The themes were very "Erich Neumann-esque"
@ynneblack I just played it - while I might not have seen everything I would characterize the spider "graphicness" as pretty tame. And pretty much all text.
That was a very interesting game. It's not every day you get to be a spider. I don't usually get on well with text games but this one really made me want to explore. Something from different combinations would have been nice, just having three separate sets of things that worked made it easy to guess the solutions by process of elimination.
This was awesome! Engrossing story, setting and mood. Nice autosave feature too.
Have to preface that text adventure games aren't my thing, but this one was really well done! I love that clicking on parts of the text are actually interaction actions, but for the parts where you can madlib/change the descriptions, I feel like the design doesn't explain that to the player. Maybe a different font choice, different color, or even simple arrow pngs to show the player that the interactions are changeable, as opposed to interactions (which was taught to the player early on).
I will say that systems are really well done. Aesthetic is definitely there. Couldn't hear any audio/music on my end - could be my side/not sure. Audio was opted out so doesn't really matter.
Definitely not my cup of tea, but would love to see the story expanded for other ideas (maybe visuals as well for telling the story/interactions/even the smallest choices). There is something special here that can translate across multiple genres of games!
A gorgeous game, well done! I think the story length is just right, if it was much longer the mechanics would get annoying. Excellent atmosphere.
Interesting design choice with the health counter. On one hand, you wouldn't want to punish a poor player who's been struggling to get the riddles right with having to restart, on the other hand, having something at stake nudges the player towards reading and thinking a bit rather than just brute-forcing the solutions.
A very inspiring entry all in all, thanks for making it!
On a minor sidenote, since there's a lot of clicking on text, adding `user-select: none;` to the CSS would be a nice improvement.
(MILD SPOILERS)
@ynneblack Not very graphic, I don't think. The image in the above screenshot is as intense as it gets visually. In terms of description, you have descriptions of the features of spiders (legs and eyes). There is one sequence where you can transform yourself into a giant spider lady.
ooh. very atmospheric. I like the whole alternate perception thing you have going on.
😦 Gives me the chills....
!> ....thankfully once I realized I was dealing with a kitty I was slightly less creeped out. I love cats! :D Just two lines of text makes me want to go down into that dusty basement just to hug the kitty.
Very atmospheric game, I love simple but interesting puzzle games like this!
!> Not going to lie, becoming a spider totally creeped me out. Those little creepy-crawlies have always creeped me out, they seem so otherworldly.... in a kind of scary way.
Congratulations!! :D! Actually found your games thanks to this, you're a really good developer! I can't wait to see what you get up to from here, I'll definitely be following what ya get up to from here :O!
While results haven't fully loaded yet, spotted your game in top few pages of Mood and Innovation category, congrats well deserved!
