LD47 — Stuck in a loop

Stuck on Mars by Emkani 2020-10-23T12:53:41Z

The concept of colouring the planet is a bit addictive. Good entry! Obviously I would have liked to see the car turning and moving, but beyond that it was a well rounded experience.

Chrono Crash by Deozaan 2020-10-06T21:23:42Z

What an impressively polished experience! The rewind was very satisfying. I had a great time playing your unlosable game :)

Retrospective by Cole and Jordan Studios 2020-10-23T13:25:59Z

Cool game! I loved how the music evolves as I was progressing. A short info about the running-control would have been nice as well as an option to skip dialogues.

Songwriter's Block by Samuel Hollywood-Summers 2020-10-08T15:48:29Z

The odd shape of your brain lets it bounce off things in unpredictable angles und rotations, which due to the uncontrollability and unpredictability makes it unsatisfyingly harder. Also the brain at times loses speed and becomes VERY slow (first run, I had to restart the game, because it was so slow, i couldn't see it move anymore at all).

Would be a fun feature, if the soundtrack would grow, enhance and develop in between the levels to show the musical writing progress ;-)

I liked the colourful fonts!

Games are So Much Fun by Rainbows are Fun 2020-10-08T12:53:46Z

More an existentialist piece of art regarding the future of artificial consciousness than a game...LOVED IT.

Orbitoor by omnes ludos 2020-10-06T22:03:37Z

Neat idea. How the orbit changes when you move feels hard to predict though.

Overrun by GameDevMatt 2020-10-08T18:00:03Z

Good entry! A few notes: - the shooting sound became a bit annoying after a while; maybe nudge the volume down a tiny bit - the option to look around in the cockpit didn't seem to better anything and made keeping track of intergrity, weapon-status etc harder - it's not very clear, how big the player is and how much you need to move out of the projectiles way. Adding audio or visual feedback to getting hit (like a screen shake, sparks, or a noise), would be helpful. - hitting the enemies is not that easy either, as you need to shoot precisely while moving around is rather quick. A solution could be to shoot in the looking direction. Aiming with mouse would give the function to look around more purpose as well

Overall a decent game that I had fun playing.

Gravitron by HGgamer 2020-10-08T17:34:19Z

Good job delivering a game that feels finished!

Void by Frozentape 2020-10-08T13:18:52Z

Different take on the theme than most games I've played so far. I like the focus on mood. You've done a fantastic job with sound design, animation and VFX and created a memorable experience. A few single deep synth tones of music could deepen the feelings you evoke. Some clearer feedback for the walking could do good in the voidy scenes. Of course I'd love to see more content (but that's no point of critic in a 3-day jam).

Save The Town by JaeLiinah 2020-10-06T23:25:17Z

Good job. I really enjoyed the humour and story you guys created. Don't worry about not finishing in time! (Hardly anybody manages to deliver a polished game - we started adjusting a proper gameplay 30 minutes into submission hour...again...). Some bugs I encountered: - After the first explosion, I was able to pick up the wood without being the maintenance guy (yes, I was stuck in a loop of following the red herring for a while...) - After receiving money from Terrence in one run, in the pub I didn't have money anymore (happend ponly once, maybe Terrence's textbox interrupted before finishing) - When asking Oscar for a rumor, I was unable to move away until I stated a new conversation with him that I properly ended - Some shelves dont have collision boxes (probably rather unfinished business than a bug)

- as mentioned above; moving out of conversations is a bit annoying + I was not sure, if conversations had to be talked to the end to be recognised by your engine - it felt that way which was equally annoying while trying to rush through the 2nd, 4th, 7th run.

I hope this is helpful. Cheers!

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Diving Heroes by Guilb 2021-04-27T13:51:37Z

Great art choice - I love the look of your game. Music fits perfectly.

I didn't quite get, why I would want to throw my buddy around, but I guess it would be a fun multiplayer concept.

Is it right though that only a few different items were dropped? I could buy the 1st suit and grapple update quite quickly, but didn't get once, what I needed for any other upgrades. I had over 300 fish bones but not 1 of the drops for other upgrades - a bit infuriating :fish:

Diving Sea Code by MrJotubes 2021-04-28T10:47:04Z

That was a really cool experience! It's marvellous how you created such an immersive and intricate mood with the music, the visual style (dark, blurred, cool colours + pictorial background) and the subtle yet fittingly effective SFX. Great entry! :fish:

Dumb Ways To Dive by Jonas Michael 2021-04-27T15:49:43Z

This is a great entry, guys. Well done!

My favorite features: The school of fish looked really cool; anyone who actually did night diving knows that lights and shadows do look like that under water - those shadows were a great addition; and the reverse swimming sharks are just hilarious!

A few bugs I encountered:

- probably the reverse swimming sharks  - The dialogue while in water always disappeared the second it popped up - I think I saw Deapah near the ground, but just swam by without anything happening or the option to stop or reverse - As I reached the ground I swam right through it, where water continued and Deeper being stuck to the bottom third of the screen

If you're interested in the fish-(and far better)-version of social media, feel free to check out, what we have going on @beebo-studios! :fish:

Cheers!

Just-one-more-tile miner by zorfmorf 2021-04-28T12:40:52Z

It's cool to see a card game here! I got 65 points as well :) For some reason every path I tried building stopped; I didn't get why that was. :fish:

Moonless Pit by Wojciech Bruski 2021-04-29T15:33:00Z

The Deepest Thoughts by Aaronacus 2021-04-27T14:41:31Z

Well done!

[WebGL/HTML5] Who am I? by leorid 2021-04-27T12:27:37Z

Round-based jump'n'run puzzle - unconventional indeed! That was innovative and fun - Good job! (And awesome ending btw.) :fish:

Itsybitsy Spideroo by Janetheodd 2021-04-27T12:53:09Z

As others have said before, the physics take some getting used to, but then it works absolutely fine.

That each jumping part is a quite long way up, makes the game pretty punishing (especially with the slow jump physics)

I would have loved to see some actual down-jumping action, though

Overall good entry! :fish:

Downfall by ReallyQbert 2021-04-27T15:25:47Z

What a death animation :bomb:

Lower Lower by Bokonon 2021-04-27T16:36:10Z

Good mechanic - movement (especially swinging) feels very good!

The mood and the whispering is spot on. Good job!

The circuit by AdamsMcCall 2021-04-29T15:49:14Z

As you've said, it's more a proof of concept, but it's a super cool concept. The idea is unique and I love the realisation! (And tbh pulling a neat and working compo game off is pretty impressive no matter the outcome) good job! I hope you you update us with few challenging levels! Cheers :fish:

Journey for Wife by Drew Long 2021-04-28T12:27:42Z

Wow! Your game is amazing!

First of all, I just stayed for 5 minutes in the graveyard to listen to the score and enjoy the animation as well as the moon. The gameplay itself was thought through, well balanced, and the level had a structured design. Good job there! It wasn't easy, but neither was it too frustration or punishing. The key-binding felt a bit unconventional, but that was soon familiarised. The jump mechanic could use just a little bit of adjusting for my taste, but that'd be just a minor thing. It would have been really cool, if the split screen smoothly transitioned into one whole screen as you approach the wife! And some quiet sound effect are always a plus.

Over all, your game is one of the best entries I've seen so far. And that you based it on a Japanese legend was a marvellous opportunity to share eastern culture with us!

Cheers :fish:

Belongings Left Behind by trei 2021-04-27T14:19:00Z

Great realisation of the theme. Games with a good story are always great.

The second level was waaay too hard though - in the least a save point at the toothbrush would be appropriate. After well over a dozen tries a gave up...Sorry

Don't Go Deep by Barisc 2021-04-27T13:06:09Z

Cool graphics :) It would be really cool and a helpful indicator of how you're doing, if the background would rush upwards with the momentary sinking speed.

Where is all the :fish: ???

Phantas-matcha by CharlineF 2021-04-28T11:00:52Z

Neat idea and pretty chill realisation! I liked your descriptive storytelling a lot. Monsieur Cloud is a fascinating character :cloud: I enjoyed the art still, too. Unique and beautiful choice. The only thing that annoyed me a bit, was the text-sound - it was way too loud and not very fitting for my taste and corrupted the otherwise mellow and gentle mood. I'm not sure, if text sounds are actually necessary here.

Cheers :fish:

She Waits Below by AbigailCorfman 2021-04-28T13:12:27Z

It's been said. I say it again: This was fucking amazing! (Even if there is a fucking wolf that I totally tried to ignore...)

Jupp. Nothing to add. :heartpulse:

Holy brie, the music is awesome!

May I ask, what program (or instrument, or DAW plugin) you used?

What goes well with cheese? Fish say you, well... feel free to check out the marvellous space dolphin @beebo-studios! :v:

Deep Seeker by DaF 2021-04-27T11:57:20Z

It's great to see a fellow Godot user!

I love this idea. But I have to admit that I didn't quite understand how this game works; In your manual you throw a lot of terms at us and it was hard to distinguish what is what and which explanations are in game mechanics and which are less relevant background information. That made getting started pretty hard in the first place. In the end, I solved the first few levels by try and error but then gave up rather quickly because I didn't get what the restrictions actually mean and how the "[" and "]" bindings are supposed to work. Or is this all part of the puzzle? (Is this even supposed to be a puzzle? xD) I don't know - I'm not familiar with coding myself which could be part of the problem....

Anyway, I loved the idea and am generally a puzzle fan, but would have needed a more guided introduction and way clearer explanations (maybe with pictures, showing what is what).

Cheers :fish:

Post Apo by Squeele 2023-05-10T13:36:47Z

Cool! Good job overall. Graphic design, sound and music make a very fitting ambiet. Gameplay isn't too innovative and a little hard in the beginning with out the gattling, but I had fun playing a few rounds.

I'd appriciate it, if the shop items that are already bought, would be greyed out. Or an explanation as to what buying the shield a second time accomplishes, since that was in fact possible. I'd also imagine that the drop marker starting to blink moments before arrival would be a fun upgrade. Definetely add some feedback for the drop off and a way to control shop and menu with the keyboard since the mouse is irrelevant within the rest of the gameplay.

Cheers :fish:

Wasabi Whiskers by Beebo Studios 2023-05-11T09:50:30Z

@someone Thank you for your constructive feedback! The button "Restart Level" will reset the whole level. We are currently working on v2.0 and already added more floor-space in the top and fixed the wasabi not showing in Course 7. Hopefully we can release these and other improvements and loads of new levels within the end of next week!

We continue to appreciate your feedback and ideas for our game!

Stay tunad! :fish:

Desert Mayhem by uniquecorn 2023-05-03T08:14:01Z

Funny game! I enjoyed the art style a lot. I too had problems in the beginning to drag an drop the items into the trunk. I think the area for interaction needs to be adjusted so that it is easier to get a hold while driving. Clubs were the only items I couldn't grab at all, though.

I'd be lovely if you added some score numbers, goals or a winning scenario. I didn't know what else to do, after drifting around for a few minutes.

Keep it up!

PS: Since the programmers mostly get complaints for bugs instead of praises for their neat scripts: Very good job, folks ;-)

FISH FRESH delivery by Oleg Bone 2023-05-04T09:05:53Z

Over all good game! Congrats.

A few notes: - I'd be cool, if the high ice blocks would overlap the sprites of houses and penguins instead of the otehr way around - add RMB to remove roads - it would be a more satisfying experience, if you could build roads by holding the LMB while hovering the tiles instead of having to click every single tile - the TAB menu feels a bit unnecessary to be honest. I'd rather have the three colour buttons on the screen at the top or bottom at all times and being able to switch between them with key controls (Q-W-E f.e.)

I hope you continue to polish your game and add a few more levels or features for new level designs. Cheers :fish:

Inconvenient Conveyance by LucDeligne 2023-05-04T08:41:27Z

Very cool idea! I like the well rounded look of your game. Feels pretty polished for an LD entry!

What really bugged me, though, were the plainly wrong physics when decoupling cargo. They should keep their momentum instead of speeding off in the opposite direction.

Deliver Him to Derek by NicLee 2023-05-03T09:12:19Z

This is the most hilarious game if seen so far. Very cool! I very much enjoyed the music as well.

As others have pointed out, it need some polishing. Firstly, is there supposed to be audio in the backstory video? Cause I didn't hear any. The game mechanics need more explanations. I didn't really get, what the red areas are doing, where the line of fire is that you've written about, why The Butcher is getting teleported away, or what the losing condition is. Also I think that WASD controlls don't match well with the isometric perspective.

I hope you find the time to continue working on your game!

Potion Delivery Service by ottos 2023-05-04T09:29:04Z

I fall in line with what @crow-seeds and @roboolet have already commented.

Your game looks cute and already seems pretty polished. Playing is just somewhat tedious, a lot of clicking and gathering things that seems just unnecessary. What bugged me the most was that you've build 9 pot to water and implementes a water can with 5 storage units. And it's not even refillable if not completely emptied.

I think with some simple adjustments you can easily elevate the fun.

Keep it up ;-)

Fresh'n Hot by Lulunaria 2023-05-03T08:25:08Z

I had no issues running the game on windows. (An exit button would have been nice, though ;)

Fun entry! Easy concept and a splendid implementation - Good job. I wish I had more time looking at those delicious pizzas, but we have to deliver swiftly.

Mailman madness by Sebastiaan Wouters 2023-05-04T09:55:22Z

Nice entry! Your SFX were hilarious. The flying / gliding mechanic felt very satisfying. Good job. Level design is also fantastic. I'd suggest you change the information text regarding the new drone feature. "[...]press TAB to find out what it does" to me sounded like TAB would open up some information or something like that. Since a short press of TAB didn't give any feedback, I had to leave the level to find out in your controls menu what I was supposed to do. Luckily you've implemented a save function so that I didn't had to replay the earlier levels. Just change the on screen text to something like "[...]hold TAB while flying to try it out." and players like myself should be fine.

Well done folks!

Porch Rats! by Quinnster 2023-05-03T08:56:51Z

Amazing! I have to say that the gnome's aoe damage is a bit overpowered. After I realised, what they could do, I positively plastered my garden with these little fellas until I couldn't place a single more. What a blast watching my terracotta army devastate those rat burglers. Well done! Screenshot 2023-05-03 105109.png

Am I your "Type"? by pralista 2023-05-05T17:49:38Z

Very well done! This was a lot of fun. As pretty much everyone else has pointed out, your game is extremly well rounded and very original. Impressive work!

"idk, i haven't finished it" by bl4ck 2023-05-05T18:23:41Z

Yes, that was hard. I didn't manage to get higher than the second container. The wall jump mechanic is kinda cool, but I had problems controlling the movements of the character. If the room would be bigger so that the camera doens't have to make those drastic turns to keep up, it might be easier. Fun entry, though! I somewhat liked the rough look and the floating text pieces.
