LD39 — Running out of Power

A Developer's Nightmare by testudor 2017-08-01T13:39:10Z

Nice concept and puzzles, solid pixel art and animations. Unfortunately, the platforming is kinda frustating because there's a lot of inertia in the character's movement and the coffee meter goes down so quickly you can't be precise.

Other than that, the game is really solid and looks great !

Messages In The Void by Olowynd 2017-08-02T11:16:37Z

Wow that was great experience ! The atmosphere that you created really made me care for Lily and each time I got a bad ending, I felt I was responsible for what happend. Great writing that keeps the pace of the story up and makes you want to continue going ... well left  ! Got to ending 4 after a few tries, but it was worth it. Love the artstyle too.

Also, thanks for your feedback on my game. Our stories ideas are indeed really similar ! Is that a french thing to talk about depression  ?

End of the line by dorkandy 2017-08-01T09:51:35Z

Very nice atmosphere and the art is beautiful, especially for a Ludum Dare game ! A bit short but with more time spent on it, it'll definitely be a great game with difficult choices to make. Overall, I'm very impressed and hope to see what you guys make in the future.

Devil Express by loudrasiel 2017-08-01T10:36:26Z

Well the game is playable, but only one class, the Knight, is really usable, because the Mage's magic is not very powerfull and the unicorn takes a lot of damage when it attacks.

Also consider rounding up the health, long decimal numbers aren't very pretty to look at and don't fit in the health bar.

The music is a bit repetitive too, but I can't blame that seeing it's a compo entry.

With more work put into it, it can really become a full fledge arena survival. Please don't get discourage by my feedback though, I know how hard it is to create a game from scratch in so little time and by improving it afterwards, it can make for a great game.

Terminal Attraction by Aumbra 2017-08-01T13:20:15Z

Well I never thought I would play a dating sim in LD but here it is  !

The writing was great and the puns were flowing, I don't think I'll look at batteries the same way now !

Great stuff, keep up the good work !

Human Fueling by Mindoo 2017-08-01T10:07:57Z

First off : love the minimalist design of the game, it suits very well with the music and makes for a relaxing athmosphere. Also love how the objets spin around when you pick them up, it may have not be intended but it's fun and you feel like you have some kind of telepatic power ( well you're supposed to be a god too  ). Movement is good too, fluid most of the time, but sometime you clip a bit into the ground and loose your speed.

However, I can't seem to finish the game, it just game over on me when I still have a lot of fuel left (around 50-60), and the reward for bringing back fuel isn't enough to counter the drain. So you might need to lower the drain or increase the rewards.

All and all, it's a great concept and visually great, and with some more debbuging and balancing it can make for a very fun game !

AtomoS by DayDreamerStudios 2017-08-01T11:43:18Z

Very nice and fun game, a lot of mecanics that makes energy managment and surviving a real challenge !

I feel this game would work well on mobile too and I'm glad that you're working on a port.

Overall, it's a very solid game and the mecanics are well thought. Good job for your first game !

M. O. P. S. by DaniilGaponov 2017-08-01T12:57:25Z

Great 3D environment and soundtack, really immersive. The RTS gameplay was good but needs some more balancing, especially the tier 2 reactor which is very powerful. Unfortunately, after a while, the FTL Consumption number was going up and down a lot (from 1400 to 4000 then back to 1400) and I lost.

Overall a very solid entry in terms of graphics and sound, but the gameplay needs some refining and some bug fixes. Very interested to see what you guys will make in the future.

November Hail - LD39 by alexJ 2017-08-01T12:24:23Z

Very interesting concept, made me think of DLC Quest where you have to buy everything you use. The pixel is great too, even though the main character doesn't have any animation.

@somethinboutgames basically said my other problems with the game right now.

With some more work put into it and more content, I think it will make a great platformer.

Meltdown by Sarrixx 2017-08-01T10:24:04Z

Damn that game was intense ! Simple but effective idea, challenging too ! The endings are a bit abrupt though and the intro should be skippable after seeing it once. Nothing else to complain about, very polished game !

Hope to see more of your work in the future !

Till the last spin by KiiroHanabi 2017-08-01T10:48:38Z

A narrative DDR-like game ? To say that I was suprised would be an understatement !

For what was supposed to be a compo entry, the game is really solid ! The narration is great and hits home (for personnal reasons). The DDR segment felt like a real chart and I cannot start to imagine how hard it was to compose the music and create the chart for it in so little time !

Overall a great demo for a neat idea, I hope too see a full fledged version in the future !

Cat Herder - THE CATPOCALYPSE by Meanderthal 2017-08-01T12:35:32Z

Very nice for your first game ! The art is very solid for a compo entry and movement is great, even though the screen wrap on the edges was a bit disorienting.

The only problem I have with the game right now is the lack of an ending screen, that be when all the cats are out of the house or when the timer reaches 0.

Other than that it's a very well polished game, hope to see more of your stuff in the future !

Power of life by OrionK 2017-08-01T11:57:47Z

A lot of varied levels and good core mecanics, especially the gravity slowdown one.

But there's a big problem that makes platforming really frustating : when you hold down shift and a direction, then you release the direction, it reset the level, making some jumps very thigh and unforgiving.

Also the lack of music and SFX is a shame, but that's not to be expected in such little time.

Overall it seems like a very well thought of platformer and some debbuging will help it become more accessible.

Suicide Watch by MrJotubes 2017-08-02T10:26:44Z

Thanks everyone for your feedback !

There will be a balancing overhaul in the next builds so you don't have to wait as much but still keep you on the edge. The UI will be updated too so it can be more user-friendly, I've unfortunatly ran out of events to use in the free version of Construct 2 during the development, but you can expect a better interface soon with tooltips and a real tutorial.

Also, I'll make the intro skipable ! I don't know why I forgot that, when it was so painful to see it everytime I wanted to debug something  !

Thanks again for your support, it means a lot to BdManiak and myself ! I hope you'll continue to play our game as it improves in the next weeks.

(Maybe) Dead on arrival by That_MagnoliaFan 2017-08-01T09:37:21Z

Well that was a nice 3D point and click game, I hope you continue working on this and add more consequences to your actions. Just some stuff you might want to fix : consider adding a light in the corridor that links the two rooms, it can be a bit complicated at first to see where you're going. Also, you should round up the numbers you display, huge decimal numbers aren't the prettiest thing to show to the player. Finally, I don't know if it's because you didn't have the time to implement it, but nothing happens when the time reaches 0 or when you die.

Anyway, that's a neat idea for a game and with more work I think it can be an even better game !

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

Diving Sea Code by MrJotubes 2021-04-27T09:26:52Z

Thanks for the feedback ! We've added a collectibles location map [here](https://imgur.com/a/CFpuQ7e) and in the submission, if you can't find some of the items to progress further into the cave.

They Know We Know by gregoire_d 2021-04-27T12:28:46Z

Very disturbing game, especially as a Frenchman, listing to the podcast ! Love the way the office changed seamlessly as you progress through the tasks.

It was quite taxing on my GPU for some reason, but that could be because of the effects at some point in the game.

Congrats to all the team !

Detective Insider by Fearawl 2021-04-27T18:39:55Z

Great job on the storytelling and the amount of content you guys packed in your game ! The objectives were very clear and it was really nice having to backtrack to the rooms in previous times to find the right objects to progress.

One complain I'd have is that sometime the objets fall through the floor, probably because of some collision snafu. But I really shoudn't be saying that, seeing how much I've struggled with the same issue in my own games !

Anyway, congratulation on your very solid submission !

In the darkness by RollCreators 2021-04-27T19:00:43Z

Great roguelike gameplay, definitely something I want to try making one day ! The sound design was very pleasing and the music kept me going back down that deep trench.

The visuals were great too, beautiful pixel and sprite art, nice lighting.

Very soild submission, congrats !

Rhythm Cult by CodeCavy 2021-04-27T20:11:05Z

First, congrats on making a rythm-game for a gamejam ! I really think it's one of the hardest genre of game to make for a jam, but yours is such a complete package that I have to mention it !

The difficulty curve was on point (almost lost it at the last song !) and the music was great and varied.

To be honest, I was focusing so much that I didn't really pay attention to the animations of the characters, but they were all very well written and different.

Definitly the best entry I've played so far, huge congratulations !

RECONDITE by Re-Lo 2021-04-27T19:50:59Z

Quite a tricky platformer with very responsive controls, which also looks great in that eerie pixelart style mixed in with the sound design. Great ambiance !

One caveat I do have is that you have to make leap-of-faith jumps at some point, which could be corrected by having a way to move the camera down in order to see more of what's below you.

Anyway, great job & congratulation for your first submission !
