Neat Game! I think the concept is really neat! it's a fun twist on galaga. I think my favorite part is the audio rewinding! very very nicely done.

quinn-patrick 2020-10-06 21:01

This is really a demonstration of what's possible in the jam. This game excels in all areas. The visuals are stylish, the audio is dynamic, and watching your swarm of past selves grow is very satisfying and a very unique gimmick. My main complaint is that it's crazy hard. I reached a point after around a minute of play where I couldn't make any more progress even with ten or eleven clones. The past selves are cool, but they don't actually help you when you get into new territory, so those parts are just as hard. They just end up making the parts you've already done feel trivial. Still a great jam game, though, keep it up.

Going into this I was thinking two things:

"Oh I guess making a shmup in 72 hours is pretty cool" "Wait how does this have anything to do with looping?"

Well, you definitely managed to fool me, this was pretty sick! The music slowing down, the rewind, the explosions of your clones, it was great! There's just a few points I want to point out:

-Like Quinn mentioned, your clones aren't really that helpful, because when they die, you're immediately in hot waters again. Maybe it would be cool if, instead of starting out with them, you could spawn them when you need them! Might not keep in line with the theme as well, but it'd benefit the gameplay heaps! (Definitely cause the game is hard and I'm bad at shmups.)

-The background was a bit too busy. It was kind of distracting and the simple sprites moving over the complex background made it harder for me to focus.

But, I'm not gonna lie. Damn dude, that was pretty awesome!

Thanks for sharing your game, here are my comments:

**What I loved** * The ship design what very interesting, I liked it a lot * The effect when going back in time * I really liked the audio, it had a catchy tune, and the sound in general was very good.

**What I didn't like** * The balancing, it seem that the last wave comes from everywhere and your ships and it just pop up like crazy * The movement was too loose, I would have used rigidbody.velocity and if you did, then Input.GetAxisRaw instead of Input.GetAxis to get a better handling

**What would I improve** ** The movement: This kind of games require that you are very sensitive with your position, the game is very loose on the control and you can get trapped really fast * The collider was a bit too bigon the player ship * The enemy bullets are not very noticeable * Your ships die everytime in the same spot, if they are not hit maybe they can stay for a while longer by repeating the recorded loop * Maybe I wouldn't put every ship in the loop, storing the best 5 might be enough.

This is a really nice game. I really like the concept and idea behind this project. It is so bad that there is no scoring mechanic especially for a shooter. Great Job.

I thought this was just another shoot em up, because i did not read your page. Boy was i wrong. Boy, was i surprised when the first rewind hit me :D. Great game, audio and graphics. I love the idea. I think the one hit is a bit hard. I took me a lot of lives to get anywhere far.

lumue 2020-10-06 21:23

What an impressively polished experience! The rewind was very satisfying. I had a great time playing your unlosable game :)

garys 2020-10-06 21:31

Nicely done in the time... I particularly liked the rewind effect with the music and what I assume is some shaders. It's a nice mechanic, but could do with being expanded upon I think. There didn't appear to be any lose condition, and as the ships die they're only really allowing you to progress just a little further - so with each new wave of enemies you have to die a few times until you can build up enough glitch ships to get past that wave... Could have done with scoring too obviously!! I got to the end though... fun to play.

dani-tufeld 2020-10-06 21:35

very cool game!! fun, fast paced, juice, bravoo!!! the only down side is that the rewind can be very long if die late in the game, might consider rewind a bit faster.

elemel 2020-10-06 21:41

Really impressed with what you've accomplished, both in terms of game design and technically. Agree with @quinn-patrick that it becomes repetitive to replay a long easy part and then hit a wall. Maybe add checkpoints between waves? Was also hoping for, or dreading, a boss fight at the end...

nablaz 2020-10-07 13:54

Awesome stuff! The rewind mechanic, with your previous tries acting as teammates, was a great interpretation of the theme: albeit very simple, it's defintely one of the best implementations of "Stuck in a loop" in my opinion. All of the elements, from gameplay to sound to graphics, work really well together and make game feel very polished. Great job, I really enjoyed it!

ketor 2020-10-07 13:58

Ok. This is not my kind of game but... totally impresive. I've finished it - even if I didn't move back and forward until the end  Nice concept, art, music and effects! Would love to see a complete game with this idea.

kekkodude 2020-10-07 20:21

great concept and well executed, just wish that yoo could stop the rewind manually so when you get much further you dont have to sit and wait as long to get back

bredera 2020-10-08 09:00

Nice little game. Nice art and music. Good entry

duke 2020-10-08 17:04

Cool idea! It was really fun seeing my ghost selves helping me. Really cool mechanic well executed (even the the rewind sequence get's old pretty quickly. Some way to skip it would've been nice) I really like shoot em ups I think you hit the right notes, but some power ups would be awesome to mix things up :) Also, I found the controls a little bit to sensitive. It was hard to dodge some of the bullets precisely without dodging too far into other stuff. Other than that, really cool! Art was nice and the addition of different sound effects was also a good call. Keep it up!

shelvid 2020-10-09 19:34

Very fun game! I didn't play this at 2 FPS at all

roikku 2020-10-09 19:35

Needs instance_destroy(); but it's great!

guilloteam 2020-10-09 20:04

Love it, it's simple and yet I want to play it to see where it can go. Great take on the theme, bravo !

I dont know, I dont much see what colerate with theme, sorry. Fun factor is not high at this game, but maybe next time you will think more about that and it will be better. Not good graphics, maybe next time.

One last note: I always write down honest review, because everybody need that, not just nice craps with some bullshit, but sometime I will aperceite very good games. So if this review insult you, but use it well :) Anyway every game is counting so :)

roidz 2020-10-14 17:30

I don't usually reply to feedback but to "Anonymous" i will make an exception. I respect your honest feedback, that's why we allow Anonymous feedback.

The only thing i don't understand is that you don't see how we added the theme in our game ? That makes me think you didn't play the game. For the rest i can accept everything you said. Thanks for checking out our game and giving feedback.

steve7411 2020-10-27 18:07

This is a fun shmup. I'd like to see where this could go with more development time.

michaelaranda 2020-10-27 19:20

Nice concept. Would be nice if every time you experienced the rewind, it happened a bit quicker. A dozen deaths in, it feels like you have to wait ages to get back into the action. Impressively polished, otherwise!
