The oxygen bar seems to start almost depleted, so I die before I can reach anything :(
This was very relaxing until i exploded into a million pieces hahaha loved it!
Ended up in total darkness and timer was stuck at 4:04:22. That was a relaxing game.
Just for the title, this is a 20/20. ahah

@cievers starting at almost depleted is intended - you need to collect the first oxygen tank you see without speeding up by pressing 'S'. As far as I know, that should work every playthrough. If it still doesnt work, message me please, and we will investigate
Nice game. Couldn't see everything on my screen and on full screen it would cut off the dialog. Music sound nice. I liked the vibing orca :D And the shark that swims backwards :D. And how piranhas eat whatever is left of you :D. Well done :)
Fun game! I don't know why but I love the animation on the orcas. I like the dash mechanic but I did have some trouble getting the hang of using it. Overall very well done.
I like the style and progression in game) Controls are not responsive, especially dash, doubletap works or doesn't work, something wrong with that, if you can, fix it please! And something wrong with screen scaling, because in fullscreen, half of the game was cutted off, in windowed mode I needed to scale my browser to see all game( And one more, after I finished swimming, there was a part I've diving down and down, time was stopped, but everything was worked, except I saw nothing and character was on the bottom of the screen, and I couldn't pickup any items :/ Is this part of the game?

Hahaah the shadows look really weird and the death of character certainly reminds to "dumb ways to die". The text boxes were too fast at some points for me to read them :(
This was fun! My favorite detail was the light--only having a clear sense of what was right below me, and how that intensified as I went deeper and it got darker.
The difficulty curve was a bit odd, since I found the first part, with the homing fish, the hardest area, and after that avoiding the passive fish was much easier. I enjoyed seeing the new fish designs as I went deeper though.
I think I got to the end? I saw what looked like the bottom of the lake, but I swam past it and continued going down in absolute darkness. Kind of intense!
I also couldn't get doubletap to work, but didn't really need it!
Art is great. Ran into a few bugs, when replaying sometimes the cutscene plays while I'm diving and the game gets stuck. Also the music started pretty low by default. Overall, nice looking game, simple and fun
Very nice death animation. Also like the way the game starts. Oddly found it relaxing to begin with. Not sure that was the intention. Good use of lighting and particles too

Is there a way to win the game? I think I saw someone at ~960m but barely missed him.
Also I don't know if it's on purpose but the backwards swimming sharks are hilarious!
Bursting into bloody chunks made it actually fun to die! I liked the humor, especially the character names. It got a lot easier once I was deep enough to stop seeing piranhas, the sharks and narwhals didn't feel as threatening as they looked, since they didn't pursue me. I also kept seeing flashes of dialogue boxes that disappeared too fast to read, so I feel like I missed out on something.
A cool simple game.
The game doesn't communicate a lot of things clearly. At first I thought I died to the worms since I ran out of oxygen at the same time I touched one. Addittionally, it took me a couple of tries to notice that swimming fast drains oxygen, which meant that on some runs I died before I could even reach an oxygen tank. As others have mentioned, the double dash isn't responsive. Additionally, the music was pretty low, took me a while to notice the game even had tunes. I'm glad I noticed, since it was quite catchy.
Fun concept, fun title, fun humor, fun mechanics : this game was really nice to play. I especially liked the animations of the different ennemies, and also the mood that changes with the background color the more you go deeper. The idea is not the most original in the world but it is really well executed, nice to play, and your personnal touch on this idea is great.
This is a great entry, guys. Well done!
My favorite features: The school of fish looked really cool; anyone who actually did night diving knows that lights and shadows do look like that under water - those shadows were a great addition; and the reverse swimming sharks are just hilarious!
A few bugs I encountered:
- probably the reverse swimming sharks :laughing: - The dialogue while in water always disappeared the second it popped up - I think I saw Deapah near the ground, but just swam by without anything happening or the option to stop or reverse - As I reached the ground I swam right through it, where water continued and Deeper being stuck to the bottom third of the screen

i had so much fun playing this one, the character changing every run is a really nice detail. but the controls sometimes when trying to move the character move way too far and when reaching a certain deep the timer stops and the character goes to the bottom screen.

Thank you, everyone, for all the feedback. We are aware of the state of the dialogue box and are currently working on a hotfix. Same goes for the end of the game, which in fact IS intended to be displayed at 1000m. Also, the dash currently has a short cooldown in order to not make it OP :D
If you have completed the game (as in when the timer stops :D) please feel free to share your speedrun time! Unfortunately we couldnt include a highscore / speedrun board in time...
This game is pretty good. The music feels like it reflects what your depth is. The music sounds like an awesome water level. The mechanics are very simple. I love this game.

Very moody, very interesting! Loved the variety of stuff you could encounter underwater, controls were nice but could react a bit faster. Otherwise, the music was nice, the atmospheric sounds worked very well and the artstyle is clean and nice. Also that main menu is one of the best menus I've seen so far :smile:
However, after passing 1000 points, my camera got stuck like this, leading to a pretty fast game over:

I am glad to announce that we were able to publish v 1.1, where we handled some bugs you have encountered. The following changes were made in particular:
- shark no longer swims backwards - size of enemies now matches enemies further down - fixed displaying the end scene at 1000m depth - fixed display of dialogue
If you want, you can replay our game now and enjoy it in the scope that was intended during development! I hope without the mentioned bugs the game becomes a lot more enjoyable to you!

I really liked it! I liked the artstyle and the audio was great. Sometimes I felt like the hitboxes of the fish were a bit too big. Overall it was a really nice and fun game however! :D
Fun game , but I find it pretty hard . I didn't managed to get below 300 m . The art is nice , and the music fits well the style of the game . Overall , great performance .
The visuals are beautiful, I especially love the lighting/shadow effects on the objects when you shine the flashlight on them. The controls, at times, seemed kind of finicky. For example, double tapping didn't seem to work consistently (unless I was missing some kind of indicator) and the hitboxes of some fish seemed to be too large or extended upwards a bit too much. The gameplay itself is fun and requires some finesse in order to reach the bottom.
Overall, this was a very fun and relaxing game that I felt compelled to play to the end. Good jam game, well done! :)

So this was fun! The audio is really nice and the gameplay, too. Graphics look pleasing.
Some things that bothered me a bit: - It is hard to follow the dialogue during the gameplay - Controls could be a bit more responsive (sometimes when i dash to one side to collect oxygen I just can get one of the three.) - I could be wrong but it seemed like the hitbox of the enemies did not always match the sprite.
What I liked the most: - The music fits really good with the game and sets the right mood. Bonus points for music change! - The lighting works really good! - Funny jokes
