The best game I played in this jam ! :D

The best game I played in this jam ! :D
Nice idea ! And the gameplay is well developped :D Too bad after a little while it starts to be boring as nothing really change. But still, thats awesome :D
One of the closest to theme I think :)
Looks like agario, but with a theme, and I like that :D
Too bad it gets boring when you become a "lava" planet, as there's almost nothing bigger than you. But of course it's not finished.
Keep working on it, I really would like to see the finished result :D
Interesting, but the game is not hard enough in my opinion. So it gets quickly boring. But I like the way you used the growing theme :D
I feel powerful when I play this :3
Nice concept. Too bad it gets repetitive after a while, but I still had fun :D
It becomes quickly complicated at the third level, but thats what make this game really good :D
An interesting game :D
I didn't really understand what does those rectangles at the bottom represents exactly so I tried to make the green one as big as possible XD But still, thats a good concept :)
Wow, that was deep.
One of the closest to the theme actually.
I like the concept ! :D The graphics are really good too. But I didn't really understand how to resolve some of those "simple" puzzles x)
I really liked it ! But I think you should make a better tutorial because all those ressources were a little confusing to me. So I didn't manage to finish it. But I still had some fun playing it :D
Nice game, but it was hard to understand how to play, whats the point of shooting, what is this little arrow... A little tutorial would be perfect :D
Awesome game ! :D
I assume the theme of the game is "Two buttons control", and to me this game is really close to that theme :D
I love the contrast between the cold city and the funny chat. A really well made game.
Well I planted a tree.
Highest score: 4847
Nice adaptation of a classic concept :D
Awesome game, nice concept, nice graphics :D
Serieux les gars ?
Futur membre de LATEB.
Nice concept :D
I love it ! It's funny and very close to the theme :D
Too bad it's a little too short
I wasn't able to run because I'm on a 32bit windows and apparently I need a 64bit windows to play it :/
I was finally able to play it, thanks to the last update :D
Thats one of the funniest game I've played on this game jam. Every time I lose, I wanna start again, that's a really good concept !
Somehow Microsoft onedrive doesn't work. I wasn't able to download it. Too bad, I feel like I'm missing a great game :/
Awesome game ! Very close to the growing theme :D And very fun to play, I love it :D
The game doesn't launch. Apparently it's because I'm on a 32 bits Windows.
I didn't understand what I was supposed to do at first. And somehow my cats eat all the cows. I don't really know what to do when I don't have cows anymore.
Nice concept, nice game, really close to the theme. Im not a big fan of the dubstep music though.
A very nice game ! :D
I lost at the moment I thought it was easy XD
I didn't expect to see a visual novel here. Nice work anyway ! :D
Nice concept, it fits the theme, but there wasn't any text so I had a hard time knowing what to do at first.
I love the idea, but where is the shapeshift ?
I can't download it, it says "404 Error: Page not found" :/
I can't run it because I'm on windows 32 bits :/
Can you make a 32 bits version ?
I only rated the sound as I cant see anything except the score :/
Indeed, the spawn pattern is repetitive, but the gameplay is good but moving the robot while aiming at the ennemies with the mouse is a little too confusing for me.
I like the idea, but I didn't really understand how to play. How are we supposed to win ?
I updated the link ! :D
I wasn't able to go far in the game, as I don't know how to push the first button :/
I saw that there was some text in the screenshots but I didn't see any text in the game, probably because I'm running it on firefox.
Awesome game. Too bad I couldn't enjoy it totally as I played on PC.
Interesting concept, I like that :)
Maybe Im just stupid, but to me managing the color and the shape in the same time is way too hard.
Couldnt pass the second obstacle because of it.
Awesome game, awesome mood, awesome gameplay.
Nice concept. Too bad there's no progression :/
The game looks really good. I also liked the topdown view, it tickled my adventure vibe.
Sadly I just couldn't figure out what I was supposed to do. I looked up the spoilers.txt file, and I couldn't even do the first thing on the walkthrough. I did find the thing I'm supposed to be looking for but I have no idea how I am supposed to reach it. I looked around the village, even found a way to get out the map but to no avail.
@aditya-dave So I tried it again. I don't know if you updated the build but I swear that X icon wasn't there before when I was near the crystal in the temple.
So I got farther in the game and it was interesting to see the story of this world through various periods as if we're just spectator of history. Nice take on the deeper and deeper theme ! Still, I think the game lacks informations about where to go, what to do or how to do it. I know it's a puzzle game and I see what you tried with the characters dialogs to give hints to the player sometimes, but I still often felt lost and thats quite frustrating to me.
27 minutes ez
That's legit one of the best game I played on this jam. Everything is great. Gorgeous art, awesome soundtrack, hilarious dialog, and an original take on the jam theme ! That's a 10/10 for me.
Nice chill game, made me think of superflight. The vibe is real but I think it needs more things that can kill you, because the run never really ends unless you really want it to. I like the graphics though, simple but really set up the mood.
Nice game. At first it felt like the controls were a little rough but I got used to it. A nice fast-paced dungeon-crawler-like, well done !
Truly interesting. I was confused at first because I didn't really understand where the game tried to lead me but the conclusion made everything clear to me. I learned quite a lot about my condition.
Awesome game ! I like those kind of simple yet fun stories. The levels were quite challenging too, I was stuck for some time on the third one. Really nice, great job ! :ok_hand:
I had some cool vibes with this game. Really nice art, and the controls of the vessel felt good as well :ok_hand:
Such a charming game. The graphics are simple yet works so well, everything seems so smooth. And the puzzles quickly get challenging without becoming frustrating, excellent work.
Also, never get the closest gem first, I'll remember that.
An interesting take on Alice in Wonderland, I liked it :)
The music gets annoying really quickly though
@gilokko All of them to be honest, maybe that's a limitation of GB Studio but they're just too short :/
I can't play it. The link works but when I click to download it, it just loads forever :/
I actually was able to download it. The gameplay is smooth and straightforward, but it took me some time to realize that where you come out is not random (I think ?). Not knowing exactly how it works and not having that much power about where you go is a bit frustrating. I like the aesthetics of the game though.
I like the premise of the story, sadly the gameplay is just too slow, especially with a timer.
That's an awesome idea ! Too bad you didn't have time to implement ennemy AI, I think your game has the potential to be a great tactical rpg. The lack of tutorial makes it a bit complicated to understand at first, but the circuit mechanics is genius ! I would be really curious to see what this game would become if you decide to continue it.
I'm glad I found your game because (sorry I'll do a bit of advertising here) my game share a similar theme of going deeper and deeper in a circuit. You should check it out :grinning:
Awesome game! It felt good to chill after coding all weekend. Great graphics, great ambiance, great everything really ! The story is simple yet beautiful. Though, as spydercrawler pointed out, the tutorial was a bit long.
Also I had a bug, after completing the story, I wanted to collect more item but when I got back to fishing I just couldn't use the fishing rod no matter how I clicked :sob:
I didn't expect this game to be this creepy. The mood is great though, and the scanner system is an awesome idea !
I loved it. The gameplay is simple but the theme made everything. I wanted to continue playing just to listen to sixteen tons once more.
Indeed, the link doesn't work. You probably sent the link to edit your itch.io page, not the public link :/
I wanted to play this game since I saw a picture of it in one of your post. I can say I don't regret it. I love the game mechanic, there are so many possibilities with it ! I could see an arcade game with different types of blocks, some that you could not move, some that get destroyed when you put them next to other...
And the fact that it's made with pico8 makes it even more incredible. Well done !
Awesome game ! A simple gameplay yet an innovative direction. Also nice twist at the end lol
I wished the levels would restart a bit faster though but thats just a detail really.
Awesome game ! Probably too hard for me, I couldn't figure out how to gather enough water on level 7 :weary:
It's quite challenging without being too frustrating, great job !
@jafcraze Glad you liked it ! For the zooming effects, I battled my way using viewports. That's precisely the part that took me a day, mostly because each tutorial I saw told me something different, and the godot documentation literally doesn't explain anything. This is the tutorial that really helped me understand the whole thing if you're curious: http://kidscancode.org/blog/2018/07/godot3_splitscreen/
So basically I parented them with each other like this:
viewport.PNG
The first camera zooms towards the ViewPortContainer of the second layer, then I use the camera of the second layer to zoom towards the ViewPortContainer of the third layer, and so on.
I wish I would have figured that out sooner so I could have focused on level designing.
@vitor-figueredo Thanks a lot ! I agree, thats my biggest disappointment on this project. I spent too much time trying to make everything smooth and not enough on level design.
I kinda want to continue it, but if I do I definitely won't use godot. The viewport management in this engine is just too much of a mess. Also I tried to keep the code clean at the beginning but I quickly moved to the "Quick and dirty" mode, so it would be hard to build on top of this mess.
Thank you a lot for all your feedback ! :) It makes this whole jam worth it.
@silas-reinagel It sure looks very interesting and I'd like to try it, but I don't really have 10€ to spare right now sorry :/ Is there a demo somewhere ?
@silas-reinagel Wow thanks a lot ! I sure didn't expect to get the whole game for free !
It's way more difficult than my game that's for sure, but I'll definitely play it some more. I left a review on steam by the way
I never thought I would have that much fun playing with shit. Awesome game. And a lot of replayability ! The graphics and audio are great too. I can't think of a signle bad thing about this game lol
@pixelportalz :flushed: :flushed: :flushed:
So the game was rigged to begin with :weary:
Simple but funny, I liked it :) I'm a bit confused about how the character selection works though.
I laughed way too much on this game :joy:
I could easily see a minigame like that on a party game or something, it's a great idea !
And nice reference to bosnian ape society :ok_hand:
Nice interpretation of the theme ! Nice story as well, makes me want to finish the levels as quickly as possible so I can get the next bit. And the music is definitely slappin'
I think the movement of the character is a bit too slow though, but that's a detail.
It is hard indeed. Too frustrating to me because it is not clear what's going on. When I reached the second level I thought I died because of the rough transition.
That was nice ! I like fast-paced platforming games like that :)
Great game ! While those type of games are quite common in this jam, it still is innovative enough so it's memorable. Also the music, while simple, really helps convey a mood to the game. It reminded a bit of the "20,000 lums under the sea" levels in Rayman Legends.
I got about 700m. It was fun ! I like the character controls. It seemed slow at first but you quickly get the hang of it. Dogfighting with the enemies felt nice as well. Sadly it gets repetitive, I got killed because I just started rushing through the floors lol Nice sounds effects btw
My best score was 21. I'm pretty sure that green square showed up when I blinked because the color before was not that dim I think. Interesting concept, but it gets a bit boring after the tenth square sadly. It reminded me of OLDTV, a free game on steam.
This would make a really solid mobile game, I can already see the ads every 5 runs. Everytime I started a run I discovered a new way to navigate, this is truly great. Simple and addictive :ok_hand:
Interesting take on the concept :) Its simple and fun. Too bad I couldn't see the sell price, I like to optimize the value in those kind of games. Still great work, well done !
This game is absolutely gorgeous. A simple concept but the graphics and the mood makes it so pleasant to play. Well done :)
Ayyy 13 points ! Really great game, I got way more into it than I thought I would lol. At first I was a bit frustrated that there was no tutorial but then I realized the idea of bringing tips later into the game to increase replayability, I love that ! One small issue was that I was not able to take back a fruit from someone if I wanted to move it before ending the turn. Still very fun nonetheless, well done :)
Really nice and polished game, well done ! I had some issue figuring out the exact distance where I could suck blood, and sometimes the ennemy still detects me and sometimes not, but even then the gameplay mechanics allowed me to improvise and avoid getting killed, so thats really nice. Great work :)
Also the game is gorgeous btw
Awesome game, I loved kiting the knights and stacking dark knights :D Sad that the level is so short though, more ennemy types with some variations in the attack pattern would have been perfect. But in just 3 days this result is still very impressing, well done :)
trop bien
Fun little game :) The collision of the player was a bit weird since it looks like he is 1 tile big but sometimes he cant go through a 2 tiles gap but other than that the experience was smooth
Very nice game ! It took me several tries but the level was just long enough for me to not get frustrated lol I had a lot fun, gg :)
Sadly I was alone to play this, I found it quite hard to properly switch between the 2 players to see the pattern and what Im doing. Other than that the game feels really polished, the graphics and the music are nice, great job :)
I love having Tails explaining stuff to me. The tutorial is not really clear sadly, even after reading I was a bit lost as to how I am supposed to play exactly. It was fun when I started understanding though, great work !
Great game, well done ! Where can I download the ost ? :)
Great game :) Nice aesthetic and sound design, it felt good to play. You forgot to upload the pck file for the windows version though.
lmao this game is awesome, its just so much fun to push people around and it really is way too relatable The artwork is gorgeous too and the goofiness of it all is just too much. I can't rate it yet but thats a 5/5 for me
lmao it looks like a giant meme
There was one junky and 3 other brutes who hate drugs, and since the junky likes me he gave me his drug everytime I talked about a subject he likes, and he got a beating by all the other inmates everytime. The 3 others then proceeded to congratulate themselves by reminding me that they sure do love a good beating and talking about crime. This is ridiculous :joy:
An interesting and original take on the theme for sure, but other than that I fail to understand what else is there to do beside talking about 3 topics and seeing them beat each other up.
Now the junky just beat up another inmate because somehow he gossiped, the junky then took some drug to chill and got beat up by the inmate what the hell
Couldn't get past 45. Too bad the camera does not follow the height of the builds, I could have gone higher :/
I love relaxing game like this, it reminds me of Townscaper but with an actual goal. And the art and music are :ok_hand: :ok_hand: :ok_hand:
This is a really cool idea ! I would have loved an endless mode with more and more difficult wagons.
Intersting twist to a top down shooter. My hotline miami habits made me try to rush through the levels but I quickly realized I need to think for a second. Well done :)
I remember playing a game with the exact same concept on my phone back in the days. Not necessarily original but I like those kind of game and yours is well done. The controls are responsive, the graphics are simple but nice as well as the audio. And the tutorial is really nice too. The only problem I have is that the levels are too simple, but its really hard to design a good puzzle :/
gg
I love the artstyle, all the effects, sound design and feedbacks that you added, it really makes it comfortable to play it :relieved: The concept is simple but efficient too. Although I don't know if its because Im a slow poke but making it that fast paced is just too hard for me. I'd rather have more complicated level but having the time to do it. But they are also hard to design so I understand that choice.
Great work overall !
This was an interesting experience. It wasn't really fun, but so is living with a mental illness so its on point. Sadly I couldn't get very far because the bars decrease quite rapidly, but the narration through journal entries acts as a good motivation to keep going through the struggles of the everyday routine. An interesting take on the theme, well done
@renge Well it was mostly my own fault I think, on the second day I thought I could just do whatever I wanted so I went to work, realized I couldn't, then went back home which depleted my bars by quite a lot. The day after I think I ate all my food already and didn't think of drinking alcohol before going to work lol
I really had some fun playing this, it reminded me of some levels in Rayman legends. The only problem I may have is how strict the light can be, there was a few times where I barely was touching it and the hand caught me.
But that's really a detail compared to the quality of the game. The graphics, the sound design and the gameplay is so well polished it really feels good to play it. Well done !
This game made me fear for my life lol
I couldn't get past a corridor with a note on the ground talking about something with the light trying to lure him in. Everytime I went to the right I ended up back at the beginning of the room, I don't know if thats on purpose or not but going back on the left make me clip out of the map.
But what a creepy ambiance, a simple narrative but really immersive, well done :)
The idea seemed really fun, I liked that you put a low FOV to add to this underwater effect. But Im stuck after I drew some mustach and a hat, apparently I need to see from a different angle but I cant figure out where :/
@novicedevgames I just fixed it, if you want to give it a try once again
The itch.io link should have the fixed version
@novicedevgames Thank you ! I haven't thought too deep about the mechanics while i was developping it but I had so much fun when I was testing it that I knew I was on to something :relieved:
@r8teful Im glad you had fun ! To me, the connection with the theme is that the town has a limited surface and you can quickly limit your own space if you're not careful where you kill ennemies.
I also didn't want to bother with potential spray when shooting because I didn't want any luck in the mechanics, you either get shot or you don't because you consciously avoided it. The flying scoutsman gamemode in CS:GO was a bit of an inspiration tbh
@ellaris Thanks for playing  You seem to have figured out the winning strategy here lol
I agree, the AI could use some improvement but I spent so much time already figuring out some kind of pathfinding algorithm that I didn't want to bother more. My thought was "at least they move enough so they are decent targets". That autoreload is a good idea, either that or a delay before the next wave with maybe an indication of where the ennemies will spawn
@jk5000 Thank you, Im glad you liked it ! I wish I had time to create 1 or 2 music but I just take too much time to compose them. I shall practice for the next time :triumph:
@masterproject I'm happy you enjoyed it :relieved:
Its not a bad idea. During development I wasn't that much into it because I focused too much on the dash but it could be a nice alternative too.
@mahalis Well done chief, you deserved it
doge giving sheriff.png
@kr4ft3r I agree, I wanted to implement options like that with mouse sensitivity as well, but I had so much trouble setting up the menu that I couldn't get that done. Sorry for that :/ Thanks for trying still
@frogman gg ! I agree, the ennemies movement is too sharp. Even with the questionable path finding I could have smoothed their movement a little bit. So they didn't make it any easier for sure :/
Thanks for playing, Im glad you enjoyed it
Very nice game, it looks polished and the artstyle is nice. The presence of the tutorial is really appreciated
It was harder than I thought to make the space ship avoid the magnet, its kinda counter intuitive in my brain. I only got to 113 points in 83.
I couldn't click on next wave for some reason, even though I heard the click sound
From the video you posted the game seems quite polished. I like the art style too. But there seems to be too many gaemplay mechanics it looks a bit complicated to properly get the hang of it.
Good job nonetheless !
I couldn't get past a certain point because the platforming was a bit unprecise (or I'm just not skilled enough  ) but I enjoyed it up until that point. I like the graphics but it looked a bit weird at times with some sprites not having the same size as others, it kinda breaks the pixel art style. And the concept of getting power by getting keys is nice, it could make a great metroidvania or something similar. Great work !
An interesting concept. I don't know if it was intentional or just out of convenience but I really like the simplicity of the art style and the design. Everything is clear and can be understood instantly.
When it comes to the gameplay, its original and fits the theme very well but way too hard for me because of the lack of reactivity it has. By that I mean that we gotta anticipate too much things in advance in order to avoid the red squares, and generally I know that Im about to die like 5 seconds before it happens and there is nothing I can do about it. Its quite frustrating.
With an additional gameplay mechanic it could give more options to be more reactive and avoid the frustrating deaths. For example giving the area a little shake that would make the player move faster, or rotating the area of 45°. There are many possibilities
Another thing is that I could not run the exe at first because I needed libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll and libstdc++-6.dll. They are easy to find on the internet but packing a zip with those inside would be ideal. And put the audio with it as well
You still managed to make a complete game, with a proper splash screen, a nice hud and scoring system with a high score feature, this is already quite an achievement. Also the fact that you didn't use a game engine and did all of it from scratch is really impressive, well done !
@novicedevgames I understand those frustrating thoughts of what could have been better, but to me thats what experience is. The next jam you'll do you will be surprised at how much better you will be !
Very well done for your first complete game ! It does feel complete and I didn't notice any bug or issue that could hinder the experience. I expected some kind of rpg but it actually was an interesting puzzle game. I can easily see how it could evolve with maybe optional missions and different outcomes depending on the equipment you used.
It was an enjoyable experience, gg
Its a bit barebones but it has potential ! For example to make the harder lanes interesting you could like slowly move back to the center when on those lane in exchange for the added difficulty. I also appreciate the clean UI, it makes the experience instantly more comfortable. Well done !
Really fun and well polished, gg :)
Im impressed you were able to set up something based on AI that honestly works quite well in just 3 days. Even though the few adventures that I generated were unsolvable or not really challenging, I still had that "wow" effect that I had when AI started being a thing. I kinda wanna play some more adventures now lol, well done !
I didn't expect to find a murder mystery in this jam lol, it's a fun little game, well done :) And props to you for making the game in mono, I've always wanted to make a game using it for the challenge but I always end up with the more "complete" engines just to save time.
**Spoilers about the solution:** At first I thought it was lacking evidence to figure out whether its the captain or the doctor, but its the details of the letter being in the trash and the keys suspiciously being under the table that made me think of a setup, I've never felt this smart in my life lmao great job once again
Yo what did I just play
The atmosphere is so well done I was scared to click on some of the latest upgrades. Straight up 5/5
Good idea and it works well. Wish the level design was more oriented towards a specific situation sometimes instead of always allowing to avoid everything and play it safe, but it still was fun overall :)
Cool game. Sadly not quite well balanced, the ennemies take way too long to get killed which make them swarm the screen pretty quickly. As mentioned before the sound design isn't perfect but I appreciate that you found the time to include some, it makes the game feels whole. Well done !
Also I love the little screen on top, it really adds to the arcade feel, reminds me of pinball, its a lovely touch.
This is straight up 5 stars. Everything is perfect and perfectly implemented. The difficulty curve is just right too. How were you able to create so many levels in 2 days ? :flushed:
I knew this would be amazing the second I saw your first post mentioning your game idea. I'm going to spend hours on this
It was mentioned already but the game is too hard :weary:
But other than that it looks gorgeous, and despite the difficulty I was still tempted to give it a dozen tries, it still is very fun lol
@aune cimer chef, ça touche à des thèmes très personnels pour moi mdr c'est un jeu qui vient du coeur
Je teste le tien dès demain jsuis trop crevé lÃ
@trevor-lentz glad you liked it :relieved: I would have definitely added a retry button if I didn't make the score board screen in the last 10 minutes lol
@scoobysnacks :joy: :joy: :joy:
Already mentioned by others but I got softlocked as well near the end. Too bad cuz I was having a lot of fun. I thought the gameplay was pretty simple at first but quickly you realize that there is a lot of synergies you can setup. Great job !
Didn't understand much but what a vibe. The graphics, the audio, the level design, everything works well towards that
Great game. Seems simple at first but there is some depth (hehe) in managing your vertical position and taking some hit on purpose to go back up and get some visibility. I was about to say that the difficulty doesn't ramp up but all of a sudden the screen was filled with platform and I died with a high score of 115 lol
Well done !
Took me a few minutes to figure out how the game worked exactly, but once I did it was a lot of fun. Loved the music, it made me feel like a painter or something lol
Looks amazing, the vibe is immaculate, got me really scared at times, but I didn't understand shit
I didn't quite get the rules. At some point I had like 10 and the dealer had more and my debt still increased ?
The concept seems nice if more clear and could be easily be expanded upon. I could see this becoming a buckshot roulette with dices lol, well done :)
So much potential here, I had a lot of fun ! It probably was mentioned before but obviously it lacks some balancing but most importantly some feedbacks, it took me a few turn to realize that my character and the ennemy attacks at the same time, and a few battle to realize Im getting attacked when I draw lol
But then again it is a jam, and the fact that you were able to implement all those systems and cards with no game breaking bug is already amazing. Well done ! And the graphics are gorgeous, I would have actually played slay the spire if it had those graphics.
I didn't finish the game because it felt like the upgrades weren't enough to get a good output of resources. But other than that it is a cool idea. You would think its kinda classic at first to make a game about digging with the depths theme, but I liked that you had to be careful where and how to dig to make your platform to simplify your work afterwards. With some polishing it could be great !
Thank you for the sausege
The wall jump was a bit confusing and I noticed one cloud where I died on for no reason, maybe a spike that wasnt displayed idk. But other than that it was a nice chill platformer. After a day at work its nice to turn off the brain for a second
I like me a good idle game. Wish there would be more depth (hehehe) to the gameplay but the idea works well, gg
This game hooked me so much. It was so much fun to restart a run and setup things differently to optimize and think long term. Awesome game, well done !
What an experience. This game truly shine by its atmosphere. And it seems well polished as well, not really "botched" as jam games tend to be. Truly great work, well done !
Reminds me of back in the days when I played doodle jump on repeat lol
Its fun and well done, and I love the music !
Simple concept but very well executed. I like how intuitive it was as well, you instantly know how to play and what to avoid, gg :)
Fun game :) I wish there would have been more space to move around the blackhole, because at some point you can just stay on one side and wait for bonuses to come your way instead of actively trying to retrieve what you want. But thats just a detail, the concept is really well executed, well done !
I did 35 seconds something I think
I can definitely feel the depth in the movement of the character. Sadly the level design and the visibility makes it really hard, because of that Im not really tempted to speedrun it. However it reminded me of super meat boy because of the difficulty, I'd say it works better as a die and retry in that sense. Great job nonetheless !
