This was fun, like Geometry dash you have to know whether to jump or fall so that you can make it in time for the next jump. Enjoyed playing.
Found it difficult to tell the difference between the background and the floor in some sections, making it hard to know when to jump.
A cool runner with an interesting art style! That menu fits perfectly and controls feel good imo. The layer effect was done really well!

Nice to play) Like the art style and whole visuals!
With good rhythmic music at the background it will be more better)
I could see this becoming a very fun platform even though from me personally the 3 layers moving in different perspectives was really confusing. only manged to get as far as 741xn

I enjoyed it, I see potential in this one. Some flashy colors, some hyper music, some juice and the game would feel a lot different :grinning: The concept is interesting, with some balancing it could work out I think. I did not hear any sounds. Was that intentional, or did my browser do a whoopsie?

This was pretty fun, I got over 1000xn distance and enjoyed the gameplay. The count-in didn't make sense the first time, but then it became like an iconic little thing for your gamejam to count off that way once I did a few rounds. I couldn't decide why there were blurred versions of my runner in the "distance", I guess like a parallax effect? It's clever that you tied in the theme by making the runner in Hell. My only gripe with balance is that if you get caught on something (like the first jump, always got me) then it's impossible to ever regain distance from the edge of the screen. It would be cool if you slowly creeped back up to a middle baseline after consistently running. Nice work!
Its a bit barebones but it has potential ! For example to make the harder lanes interesting you could like slowly move back to the center when on those lane in exchange for the added difficulty. I also appreciate the clean UI, it makes the experience instantly more comfortable. Well done !
Good job with the game! changing the speed mid game made me feel dizzy at first hahaha

Tried it out and got more hooked than I expected. I agree with others—the Geometry Dash-style timing mixed with layered visuals is a cool concept, though it took me a bit to get used to it. Great entry!! :)

Creative game, although it was a bit too much for my eyes sometimes :D

Very fun use of the theme. very minimalistic art but with the color scheme it works pretty well.
The idea of 3 different depth levels with different attributes is surprisingly unique. Feels like something out of the first bit.trip games. It's a little hard to grasp at first but eventually becomes very interesting to shift your focus depending on how fast you want to go or how far ahead you want to be able to see. This feels like it still has a lot to give, but there's clear intent behind it, I hope you keep adding to this idea.
The concept of switching between 3 different levels is up-and-coming. I'd like to see how this idea can be grown with some more specific tricks bound to each layer. By the way, the controls already feel quite responsive.
And yes, since it's a very dynamic game, I thought that GIF should present the game a little bit better. But when I tried to record one, it appeared to be a little glitchy due to the effects on the character :D InfernoRun.gif

@moondweller wow I didn't even think of make a gif with it - honestly I don't know how to record a gif from playing, and didn't investigate to learn that. Oh, and fun fact, I think you hit ctrl+F12 while or before recording, as obviously the hidden (rather: undocumented) debug/stats mode is activated :joy: Well, you got me, now I want to search how to make one -and I'm gonna do right now
@lereveur, hahah, I don't remember. Probably I've hit this key combination, but I certainly didn't do that on purpose  And for creating GIFs, I record video using **OBS** at first. Then, rescale, cut, crop, and convert the video to a GIF via a Python script that uses the **moviepy** package. But I'm sure that there are more convenient ways to do so

@moondweller I found aiseesoft's one, which works well, and so I added a gif capture in the main page, thank you for the suggestion!
Nice!
Like you said, I stayed on one depth because it's a fast game so I can't afford to spend time on switching depth. Maybe with some slowing moments (like a bullet time at some point), I could take the time to think of the next depth I want to go, depending on the next level parts I see.
Good job!
A difficult game (at least for people like me) but I set myself a goal of 1,000xn and was able to surpass it:
quantum-inferno-run-screenshot.png
I experimented with the depth levels but, as you suggested, found that one level (the top) was best. I imagine with a little tweaking you could make the game more balanced so that each level has its own pros and cons. Perhaps you could reduce the number of obstacles on one level, but increase the speed, or something like that. Regardless, overall this is an unusual entry, one that shows thought and creativity. Certainly it has potential. Well done.
So it was pretty fun overall. I think a cool idea might have been to have the 3 depths be different instead of just copies of one another, so maybe you HAVE to swap between them to be able to get to the end.
Music and sound effects, even just small bips and beeps when you jump, land, etc, can do wonders to add a bit of polish to your game. SFXR or BFXR are pretty good for this and they're free, just so you know
Still, played this longer than I probably should have given the amount of people who requested a rating from me lol, so good job!

The game is difficult, but it is fun! The changing depths idea is nice, but as you said needs work. Maybe if game was a bit slower and there were walls on some depths player cannot jump over and has to switch? I just wish there was some fast music, it would add a lot to the game atmosphere. Besides that, good job!

This is pretty fun and smooth but the colours make it really hard to see! Unfortunately I have (new haha) eye troubles and I'm really struggling to even see the ground. Otherwise, well done!

My time management's so bad I'm over here rating the games I wanted to ASAP in the last hour of ratings lol - but this was fun! A bit confusing and a bit too fast for me to process which lane I should be in, and those floating lines at the beginning that sort of count down to the gameplay were extra confusing lol. The controls were intuitive, which is good, because the hint screen confused me to look at lol. But definitely it could shape up into a really fun platformer!
Very cool game, building a runner this good in 72h is impressive.
