LD38 — A Small World

The Hungry Planet by madalaski 2017-05-18T20:47:31Z

Nice! The music is awesome and really helps the fell of the game. I like that the masses are given in scientific notation, it makes it feel a little nerdy :) A little work on the camera could help a lot: when you're moving fast, the slowly leaping camera can't catch up and you end up not knowing what's coming ahead. You could easily improve that by offsetting the target of the lerp with the planet velocity vector * some factor. I think it would make it more exiting, allowing you to move at higher speed while staying in control

Small World by Calzep 2017-05-19T10:31:35Z

Well done! At the beginning, I was kind of hoping to be able to hire more than one guy at once, and be followed by an army of bodyguards. Really enjoyed the cascading chain too

Space Hummus by dietzribi 2017-05-18T21:26:56Z

Simple idea, funny story, very well-manufactured... great!

The Dance We Do by PapyPilgrim 2017-05-19T13:06:23Z

Magnifique!

It's square to be a cube by Khorm 2017-05-01T21:33:42Z

Well done! Simple mechanic, but working well. I would have liked a little more control on the jump, maybe mario style (the longest you hold, the highest you jump)

Tiny Defender by AlexisGea 2017-05-19T10:14:21Z

@wisstopher Your game looks geat! I'm on a mac right now so I can't test and rate, but I'll be sure to do so when I have access to a windows pc :)

Tiny Defender by AlexisGea 2017-05-19T10:36:35Z

@calzep Wow that's very flattering, thanks! Just tried your game and I liked it a lot, I hope you'll get more votes (btw, I just noticed that your game has no thumbnail, you should add one to get more ratings)

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Sofra by dietzribi 2017-12-05T22:21:52Z

Loved the game! Cute and fils the theme perfectly. Could not make it past the second eagle in normal mode; regrettably and shamefully, I had to switch to easy. But it was well worth it, the end was awsome! As already said in other comments, the controls should be improved (I'd suggest space for jump, up to take one, down to drop one), but that's the only complain I have. Good job!

The Darkest Light by zblah 2017-12-09T23:37:01Z

Can you do a macOS or web version? Merci d'avance!

Greedy Mummy II by AlexisGea 2017-12-09T22:33:34Z

@jelch the range in which enemies spot you grows with the amount of gold you carry. The "!" stat on the bottom right indicates the current range. We wanted to make it more obvious with feedback on the player, but didn't get the time.

Thanks @honest-dan for playing and streaming; it's such a gratifying thing to see the game we worked on beeing actually played and enjoyed! Here is the link if others want to watch https://www.twitch.tv/videos/207246702

My Greedy Dog Steve by Honest Dan 2017-12-09T22:59:41Z

Very nice art and good ideas, well done!

Mesus VS The Broman Empire by UmSingeloPugManco 2017-12-09T23:15:49Z

The art is excellent! Liked the humour a lot too. I didn't get the point of the gameplay though

Overflow by team-kwakwa 2017-12-05T23:03:17Z

Well done! Great concept and great realisation. The game feels good and has a good difficulty cuve. More levels to exploit the different mechanics would be welcome.

LD48 — Deeper and deeper

DEEP LD by Atikyne 2021-05-17T20:43:25Z

Really basic game design and a bit dull, but good programming and art. Nice minimalist code (thanks for leaving access to the source). The movement Is super smooth, which is not a given for web games ;)

I GOTTA SH!T by spyispie120 2021-05-18T12:06:19Z

Hahaha 5 stars for the theme

Fishing Trouble by jefvel 2021-04-27T13:28:09Z

Love it! Very original! The fish punching is perfection

Enter the Cubegeon by xatulu 2021-05-17T20:33:16Z

Unfortunately I wan't able to play it on mac OS in either firefox, chrome or safari. The standalone mac build link seems to be broken (404). Let me know if you fix something!

Enter the Cubegeon by xatulu 2021-05-17T21:08:50Z

@xatulu indeed I'm not on the latest version, I'm using Mojave (10.14.6). (But I wasn't able to download the Mac build anyway because of the broken link.) On the web it hangs when I click "enter the dungeon".

Here are the first warning and couple of errors found with the web developer tools: WebGL: INVALID_OPERATION: drawArrays: no valid shader program in use Dicegeon.js:354 **ERROR**: SceneShaderGLES3: Vertex Program Compilation Failed: onPrintError @ Dicegeon.js:354 Dicegeon.js:354 onPrintError @ Dicegeon.js:354 Dicegeon.js:354 At: drivers/gles3/shader_gles3.cpp:164:_display_error_with_code() - SceneShaderGLES3: Vertex Program Compilation Failed: onPrintError @ Dicegeon.js:354

Enter the Cubegeon by xatulu 2021-05-18T08:14:07Z

@xatulu Thanks, I was able to download, but couldn't open the game unfortunately.

I got '“Deeper into the Cubegeon.app” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.'

(Which in my opinion is kind of a rude error message!)

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-04-27T13:07:24Z

@xarina777 On no! Thanks for reporting the crash. Do you have an error message?

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-04-27T13:08:57Z

@klaaswag Thanks! As you feed the Toad, it grows and croaks with a deeper and deeper voice, breaking more ice blocks each time

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-04-27T13:36:13Z

@xarina777 Do you still have the game files? There should be a log file in a folder next to the executable (provided the game managed to launch at least a bit). If there is could you send the contents to me? My discord handle Séb#1079

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-04-27T14:02:07Z

@lootgrounds Thanks for reporting the crash. It's weird that it seems to work for some people but not for others. Could you send me the content of the log file in a folder next to the executable? And just to be sure, have you properly unzipped the game folder?

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-05-17T21:10:15Z

@nicso @nabo369 @jefvel Thank you very much :)

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-05-17T21:36:26Z

@kaytrill very good points, thank you for the ideas! I especially like the roars leaving cracked ice to finish. The triggering of the roaring depends on multiple factors including how full the toad is and the advancement of the ice (the closer to the toad the more urgent). I agree it should be more transparent, we had the idea to visualize it with a gauge but didn't get around to doing it.

I also wish we had more time to work on the game design and balancing during the jam, but I'll definitely try to balance it better for a post jam version.

Thanks for your analysis!

Infratoad by Seb_degraff 2021-05-18T08:23:20Z

@kr0s Aaah thank you for finding the source of the problem! Much appreciated

@joaog @bmacintosh Thank you!

Shelter in the Deep by qfeys 2021-05-17T21:18:25Z

Unfortunately I couldn't play and rate because the scaling seems broken https://postimg.cc/KR5jRbhZ/abd9a741 The text was hard to read and I couldn't click on the buttons. Let me know if you fix it!

edit: I tried only the web version because I'm on a mac right now

Snare by Jickamangah 2021-05-17T21:28:37Z

I made it! Very good execution, and nice plot twist at the end

Spermy the Whale Goes Deeper and Deeper by Flying Dog Fish 2021-05-17T21:41:16Z

I found it a bit annoying that the other fishes (and submarines) were only blocking the way. Might have been more fun if they were more spaced out and made you loose (or lose life points) on touch. Very cute art style! Cool music :)

DeepPsy by JoaoG 2021-05-17T20:59:10Z

Nice little experimental game! It was a bit hard to read the space sometimes, I think a texture on the walls would have helped. Also some feedback when collecting items would be nice

Nostril Navigator by Xenon27 2021-05-17T20:49:19Z

nice sound design! Gameplay a bit dull I found, with no clear goal or sign of advancement. The scrolling was also pretty irregular for me (used chrome), I wish it didn't stutter that much. Great art and presentation overall

Treasure Hunt by 0x746564 2021-05-17T20:23:17Z

Nice! After a few tries I managed to get all three treasures. It got easier once figured out that distance is calculated with diagonal moves, not only right, left, top and bottom as I had assumed. The submarine sections, while a neat idea, where really annoying. I guess they were unfinished due to time constraints but IMHO it would have been better to cut them and use the spare time to do a win screen (or acknowledge that the player beat the game with a message). Great job overall!

Quiet In The Deep by rjmarzec 2021-05-18T12:29:38Z

Well done! Controls didn't bother me, I thought it was a nice touch to have to "swim" by pressing the mouse buttons. I think I like jam entries with level design. The art style works very well

Tiptap the Tadpole vs. the Menacing Cthonic Horde by Knipsch 2021-05-17T20:02:16Z

I really like the concept and the execution is very good! Impressive for a compo submission! I played it by myself but still had fun. I need to come back to it and try it with a friend!

LD54 — Limited Space

Wall Wizard by Strega 2023-10-20T21:55:45Z

Cool entry! I like the divide and conquer aspect. At first it was a bit unintuitive that blowing up the walls didn't damage you, but once I understood that I was quickly into it. The upgrades are a nice touch, I liked the icons. The animation of the blobs are nice, the overall look and feel as well.

Rover Under by ColeSlaughter 2023-10-20T21:35:17Z

Anything multiplayer is impressive for a game jam, let alone synchronising a giant image! What I really missed was some kind of hud showing the score in-game, so I can see how it's evolving. Not too sure how it fits the theme, the map was pretty big, but you have to paint in "limited spaces" I guess? Great job on the tech, visuals and music side!

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-03T14:51:46Z

@themejmun Kind of! To manage the scope of the game we generally try to keep everything in a single screen, with the camera fixed. But maybe here it would have been a good call to allow scrolling up

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-03T14:53:03Z

@peacememories Thank you, this is a very flattering comparaison! Other inspiration sources where Townscaper and Islanders.

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-03T14:56:16Z

@furano Thank you! Great to hear it worked on your phone, it doesn't fit the screen on mine :)

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-03T15:04:15Z

@turquoise-moon Wow! Seems like the score counter needs to widened

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-03T21:14:06Z

@mascoll Wow haha! I fixed the exploit of building outside the game screen at the top an hour ago or so. I guess you had discovered it before that! I also saw your comment on my post about the bug :)

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-03T22:00:59Z

@amygeddon Thank you for your comment, it's quite heartwarming! Indeed I could see an infinitely scrolling up version of this game working, maybe with a background changing with altitude, cloud layers, starts etc. And when you're finally stuck it could scroll back down slowly showing you your tower... As you said, for the jam we wanted to keep it simple and in a limited space. Maybe we should try it a post-jam version!

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-03T22:02:07Z

@amygeddon Great score by the way!

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-11T20:08:17Z

@renrok Glad you enjoyed the game! I just uploaded an apk on itch if you want to give it a try. Tested on only 2 devices so far, I hope it works on most phones. @pen-island-games Thank you! I might try an iOS build when I muster the courage (it's a custom engine, so not as simple as hitting a "build for ios" button, but not that hard either). In the meantime I found that the web version works quite well on my iPhone, it probably will work on yours as well :)

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-12T21:29:44Z

@renrok good to know it works! The offset when dragging is by design so you can see where you place the blocks. Maybe we could visualize it better

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-20T21:44:03Z

@baturinsky Weird! What device+browser if I may ask?

Seagull Island | L'île aux Goélands by Seb_degraff 2023-10-20T22:00:17Z

Oh I think I see what's wrong, thank you very much for the screenshot. Will fix!

Trivia Drop by Gamer Fates 2023-10-03T16:50:38Z

Nice one! At fist I didn't understand that the cooler of the answer are related to the color of the blocks, and when I realizeded that it wasn't that clear what the effect of walking on the correct color had. The platforming has a good feel and is pretty smooth!

The Purraformer by froissant 2023-10-06T12:01:46Z

Nice one! As other said a bit hard to understand at first, but once you get it it becomes fun to try and guess the combinations. I got to amber and dragon eggs, but couldn't figure out how to get frogs. Good job!

Super Cube by Senso 2023-10-03T21:47:41Z

Very cool! I need to come back to it when I'm on a computer with a mouse, not a trackpad!

Crime Critters (Rob the British Museum) by Pen Island Games 2023-10-20T20:45:07Z

Great entry! Had a lot of fun stealing the place dry with my girlfriend. The comedic touch is on point, we laugh a lot at the precious vases that we hauled all the way and broke just by loading them in the truck a bit too enthusiastically. Too bad that there was no sound on the jam version, but well, there was limited time! Overall a very solid entry and we had a great time playing it, well done!

Purr-fect Bedtime by Chengnan17 2023-10-03T21:05:37Z

Very cute and wholesome!
