LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

King of the Mountain by dollarone 2017-12-28T11:10:36Z

Nice compo entry!

How did you make those graphics in such little time?

And what do the different models have to do with? I spawned as a giant thingie instead of the normal soldier sometimes before I got to be king of the hill.

Also, maybe a keyboard shortcut to move and a way to walk backwards would've been nice.

Also, you've given 0 ratings, that may be why so little people played your game. The more ratings you give the more your game will be visible and more people will play it! On the next ludum try rating at least 20 games so that your game can get to 20 ratings itself faster. =)

XenoNanny by icxon 2017-12-08T23:39:58Z

Great graphics, I'm pretty impressed you managed to put original music into the game. Congratulations on the great work! Loved how the little aliens hijacked the oxygen cans.

I didn't understand why you put some of the powerups just right next to the exit, though.

Ignorance is Bliss by Aurel300 2017-12-08T23:19:28Z

I'm amazed on how you were able to make this game.

Great writing, visuals, sound and feel. My worst nightmare delivered in a great cyberpunk fashion.

Congratulations on the amazing work.

Btw, Cell-3 tower has some text overflowing from the districts it covers.

Ignorance is Bliss by Aurel300 2017-12-09T01:19:03Z

@ciaranw What I understood is that the more tapes you have, the harder it is to manage them (thus the chance of you sending the wrong tape to the wrong person increases)

Bit Swapper by Galan 2017-12-10T21:55:59Z

Nice game!

Maybe you could've implemented a highscore or at least a log of the scores, and maybe a different number of points per type of enemy.

Congratz!

Ingredients of Insanity by zirconcode 2017-12-27T03:35:27Z

LÖVEd it.

Nice idea with the curses, maybe you could've done more than 8 and made them random on the start of each round.

My dear friend imagination and I really enjoyed playing through it.

Congratz on those camera effects man!

I'd really like to see a more worked version of this. Maybe with networking or with a bot. Keep it up and good luck with those ratings!

Honey Empire by chriiis88 2017-12-18T13:12:47Z

Hey, can you explain to me what was the your on the theme?

Congrats on your first LD and thanks for a web version! =)

Honey Empire by chriiis88 2017-12-18T13:27:41Z

@chriiis88 Can you explain to me what was your take on the theme?* Sorry for the lack of coffee.

Oh, didn't know they "wiped" the other LDs. Congratulations on the game anyways!

Just Make It Work by Hurlu 2017-12-08T22:29:44Z

Really well done! I liked the concept, really worked with the theme. The game is pretty hard, but I believe that's what you were going for. The graphics were pretty fitting as well.

And thanks for a web version.

Chuck Norris will Make America Great Again by paulhocker 2017-12-08T22:14:26Z

Quality content.

Thanks for the linux build.

Get Rid of It! by multiplexor 2017-12-28T02:16:31Z

What a monstrosity that floppy/cd drive was. So small.

Is the crying mandatory to close the game? I'll wait anxiously for the answer.

Nice entry and thanks for a web version! (No windows here)

Cloak and Dagger by PTSnoop 2017-12-28T02:05:40Z

Really nice atmosphere. Maybe some sound effects and a pause button (So I could read what each of the pillars did) would've been nice.

Congrats on the game and thank you for the linux build!

Super Ploogy Rescue by 100th_Coin 2017-12-10T23:16:35Z

Radical!

Overpopulation by julianeder33 2017-12-08T22:54:54Z

23.233 MRD You could've told us that you have to click on the planet from where the ship is coming and then on the planet where it is to go.

Really nice visuals, good sound, nice theme. Congrats on this quality job! Just one thing, after scrolling and zooming a bit the graphics started to warp.

And thanks for the linux build!

Crystalien: Mega Blastar by Gurbx 2017-12-18T13:25:59Z

Pretty impressed this was made on 48 hours! Congratulations! The only thing that bugged me really was that I couldn't distinguish the front from the back of the tank, but since I was almost always rolling forward that didn't affect me that much.

I didn't play the post-LD version, but more enemy types and powerups would be nice. Also, when you get low on health there isn't much to put you back on the game.

Fleet Commander by MagmaFortress 2017-12-18T17:53:52Z

Really nice game. Loved how you used the theme!

I just wish there was a way to control multiple ships at once (like boxing in an RTS) or that the ships would home in when sent to an objective (like a box).

Really like the warnings, the pacing was perfect and the sounds and graphics fit really well together. Congratulations!

And thanks for the Linux build!

Protofusion by christina-antoinette-neofotistou 2017-12-18T14:00:27Z

Really nice graphics on the game. A joy to behold.

I'd say that sometimes the direction the ball bounces seems a little bit random, though.

Squirrel Puncher 4000! by valkling-friend-of-all-things 2017-12-28T10:41:35Z

3 KOs and 2:27. Do the squirrels cycle back every 3rd KO?

Also, the health of the 2nd and 3rd squirrel didn't appear on the top screen.

Other than that, great compo entry!

Pet Watch by Skyward 2017-12-18T13:37:07Z

I don't know what engine you made your game in, but I'd like to try it. Can't you make a Linux or web version? xoxo

Pajuu - Always With You by Samurai Spark 2017-12-09T00:33:36Z

Amazing graphics and very fitting soundtrack. Great work you guys, congratulations.

Greedy Mummy II by AlexisGea 2017-12-27T03:00:23Z

bugperiodquestionmark.png

I may have found a bug. =x I'm playing on firefox and no other Unity WebGL game had any graphical glitches. Any idea what might be happening?

The game looks promising and I'd like to play it. Thanks for the web and Linux versions!

EDIT: Sorry, got the same bug on another Unity WebGL game. I'll be playing the Linux version.

EDIT2: You just gave us an 32 bit version, which crashes on my 64 Linux machine. I'll play the web version and look for a video to vote for the graphics.

EDIT3: Played and rated! Thanks for the Web and Linux builds and congratz on the game. One thing that nagged me, does the character continue to walk for a while before stopping after I release the walk buttons? I got the impression he didn't stop immediately.

Dem Colors by tthe 2017-12-18T13:53:31Z

Dem spiraly spirals.

Nice tower defense game. I would've liked a menu button for undoing some things. Sometimes I place a tower at a wrongly colored tiled and then have to live with that regret for the rest of my life.

There was no audio for me, though.

Thanks for making a multiplatform game, but maybe making a build (with a script to run for each platform. Would've made it more accessible.

Jewel Shadow by dimesto52 2017-12-09T00:52:11Z

Nailed it.

I'd wish that the character moved to the tile as I clicked it, though, that made getting the 3 jewels at the first level pretty impossible. (Or was it on purpose?)

Jewel Shadow by dimesto52 2017-12-09T00:53:19Z

@megalink Click on a orange-tinted tile and your character will start hovering towards that position. You can click on any tile that is 1 manhattan distance from the last position you clicked.

Bunnyfication by dekart 2017-12-28T11:28:49Z

Really nice entry. Solid artstyle and the it fit in quite nicely the theme.

I wish there were some things, though: * An easier way to distinguish the buff bunnies from the fat ones. Maybe yellow grease stains on the fat one and a green trunk top on the buff one? * On my first time I clicked away at a lot of places and bunnies trying to do something, which cost all my money. I wish left click didn't do anything but select bunnies and build stuff and right click threw the carrots, so that I wouldn't waste money trying to click bunnies. * Also, the game ended quite abruptly with my bunnies discovering a new galaxy, I wish there was an indication of how much time/bunnies I have left to play. * A highscore board would've been a nice addition as well.

Congrats on the entry!

Fireball Dungeon by Andrew White 2017-12-18T18:05:14Z

Nice game, maybe powerups being usable instead of instantaneous would be a nice things, since I mostly had finished the level when the first one appeared.

Also, I second that sound would've added greatly to the experience. Congratulations!

A Spark of Light by TurbulentWinds 2017-12-08T23:50:18Z

Really nice BGM, I think the movement could've been simpler, though.

Also, is there a way to know where are new light particles to pick up? And from when to when do they spawn?

Drunken Soviet by Neferius 2017-12-10T23:07:41Z

Mother Russia thanks you for the linux build!

Greedy Merchants by jlreymendez 2017-12-09T00:03:09Z

Please make multiplayer version as post-mortem.

Also, could you make it so that going around edges is a little bit easier?

Bucketneers by And Garciaz 2017-12-08T23:55:57Z

Awesome game! Really polished. Had a lot of fun playing with my good old friend imagination. (Plz make online version as post-mortem)

The Tulpa by nahual 2017-12-10T20:46:53Z

Really nice aesthetics and atmosphere, but you could've given a little bit more visual clues for which room is which, they felt kind of bland and with the wavy graphics it became really hard to distinguish where I was (I think that may've been proposital, but that perdured for too long before I died). Also, the ending was kind of sudden. Other than that, great submission, congratulations! =)

Mesus VS The Broman Empire by UmSingeloPugManco 2017-12-18T18:16:12Z

Thank you guys so much for rating our game and making us get to 20 ratings. I've had a hard time managing to vote for 20 myself due to real life, and those games of yours that I didn't vote yet (and have a Linux build, my Windows pc is dead) I shall vote during the rest of this week.

@jadw1 Yeah, we agree. But we couldn't find a more fitting one that was more readable. =/

@larto and @solsforest The fish attracts the followers and give you a small breathing room to run.

@seb-degraff Just save as many followers as you can before getting caught. Try to get a big score, maybe? My max was 20 something, I believe.

@bryceltaylor Yeah, we had a lot of things during the jam time that hampered us. Our artist had a big assignment due on the week, and he could only make the static sprites. Maybe on the next Jam we'll be more experienced and have more time to include animations. ;)

And again, thank you so much guys and gals! :kissing_heart: :rainbow:

Mesus VS The Broman Empire by UmSingeloPugManco 2017-12-28T02:31:01Z

@aurel Thanks for playing the game! Had never seen that game before. And yeah, we missed the timers as well after the deadline. =/

@multiplexor We actually had a scenario with two posts and bromans, and one with two bromans on one post. But the clutter on the screen was too big already just with the followers we decided to keep just a single post and broman. Powerups sound like a nice idea though, any ideas of extra mechanics/powerups? Thanks for playing our game!

Mesus VS The Broman Empire by UmSingeloPugManco 2017-12-28T02:40:35Z

@jonathan50 Can you please give us a better a specification on how to replicate your system so we can try to avoid such problems in the future? (And also how much RAM it consumed on your computer)

I’ve run a quick test here on my computer and the game takes up about 600mb of RAM (Which is a lot more than what I expected already), but we would like to test out with something akin to your system so we can see where the problem lies.

Thanks for trying to play the game and hope our next ones are playable for you!

EDIT: My system is running Lubuntu 17.04, on a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU, with 4gb of RAM, an AMD Radeon HD 4670 and my OpenGL version is 3.0 Mesa 17.0.7. (Quite an old machine, really)

Karma Run by THX1342 2017-12-08T22:02:41Z

Nice game.

Just some things.

I'm running Xubuntu 16.04 LTS and the executable for me was broken.

Tried running from source but tdl install failed several times. I search a bit and had to install the following with apt-get for it to install properly: gcc libsdl2-dev libffi-dev python-dev libomp-dev

So, you might add that to the "how to run from source"

Congrats on the game and thanks for making it runnable in Linux!
