This was really really cool! The mechanic was really interesting, I was always thinking about whether to reclaim my bits or not. The game's framerate started to tank after about 5 minutes and the waves of enemies became pretty repetitive. This was really enjoyable to play, thank you for making it!

It has a really nice retro style. But played it solo, so I did not rate fun and overall.

Loved the mechanic of this game. Lots of fun.

The same issue as @draperdanman unfortunately, after a couple minutes the game ground to a halt.

Has a good feel to it, similar to the old 1942 games. Good job!

boxedmeatrevolution 2017-12-05 04:44

Glad to see a 2 player entry! The gameplay and music got a bit repetitive after a while, but I thought the fundamental idea (choosing to reclaim bits or maintain firepower) was well implemented!

Love the co-op offence vs defense trade-off. I think the pace could be sped up and maybe a cool alternate fire mode for each player.

Nice game, i made my game in godot too, check it if you want

didigameboy 2017-12-05 17:53

Solo play made me spend some time to understand the mechanic, intersting tho.

Pretty cool, and thanks for the linux build! We made something similar but our goal is controlling two ships with one player, which seems to have given me practice for playing your game :D cool mechanic! I'd love to see how you implemented your bullets etc in Godot, and what made your performance tank after five minutes, as we also had performance issues with our naive bullet implementation at first.

Really good use of asymmetric co-op. The two characters are so different and orthogonal in their killing and survival ability that it makes the bits passing back and forth consistently interesting.

uvwar 2017-12-08 22:12

He's not kidding, it's much better in co-op!

zinkler 2017-12-09 04:48

Assuming that I've only got the half of the experience, that was a very nice half. A great idea!

ruthiepee 2017-12-10 05:39

Love this concept and especially appreciate that you did a 2-player co-op game. You don't see a lot of those. It's pretty stylish too and all the objects contrast nicely.

umsingelopugmanco 2017-12-10 21:55

Nice game!

Maybe you could've implemented a highscore or at least a log of the scores, and maybe a different number of points per type of enemy.

Congratz!

Unfortunately I could only play in loner mode. The fullscreen didn't play nice with my absurd monitor setup, but that is more my fault . The mechanic is very interesting so I'll definitely try it with a second player. Something to show progression would probably make the game even better.

alexfalkenberg 2017-12-11 03:10

Played this one- and two-player both, and I love-love the mechanic of moving bits around. Def. had some bullet-y lagginess. I'm really happy to see another Godot game, too--I'll def. be checking out your source! I have a similar collection mechanic idea in my game, but you've got an actual functional implementation I may have to borrow from--just a little. ;) I hope you're having a great LD--take care! :)

I'm glad so many people liked my game. I'll be honest, I wasn't convinced it was fun until after I finished it and had time to do a proper two-player play test, so I'm pleasantly surprised it's gone over so well.

Depending on how the final score goes, I might look into polishing it up into something a bit more complete.

Nice idea, too bad I can't try the 2 Player mode as that's the way it's meant to be played :(
