Slum Lord by Josh Ayres 2017-12-05T04:56:55Z
This was a difficult game. Good Fun. Love the programmer art.
I feel I would have enjoyed it more if the controls were in a more comfortable position.
Overall well done :)

Wow.... This is an incredible feat for 48hrs.
The initial screen was a bit overwhelming, consider breaking it up to guide players through the learning process. I also felt that the pop-ups in the day happened really quick. (I'm not sure if this was by design) I ended up having to skim read and missed some good things. Loved the Lava Lamp joke. Also could have benefitted from some background music, especially to highlight the intentionality of the gameplay speed.
Overall, I'm very impressed.
Loved the mechanic of this game. Lots of fun.
The same issue as @draperdanman unfortunately, after a couple minutes the game ground to a halt.
Nice overall game, good level design.
Pretty lights .... ooooh... ahhh Also, I really like puzzle games :)
Would have been cool if the lights could merge and change colours.
Seems like a good concept, but wasn't able to do much with it.
Some form of tutorial would go a long way in conveying what to do. As I played I managed to build a refinery and prospect for oil, but even with shipping routes open I wasn't able to get them to the refinery and lost all my money.
Some other improvements that would help: - A way to exit the game - Some ambient tunes to keep you glued for the hours and days while you empire builds - Ability to change country by clicking on them - Also noticed it was a bit of a CPU hog, could there be some tweaks to improve this??
@pete-h I fell into the exact same trap. I'll give you game another go this afternoon :)
Thoroughly enjoyed this. I agree with @backyard-dev that some ambient audio would have been nice, maybe some nice slow synth. Also, love the simple art style. Very clean and clinical and suits the game theme well.
The only problem I found was that Quarantine Household did not show price.
Also, would be nice to have a rerun tutorial option
So after all the fiddling to get qbasic back up and running, it's just a story....
I could have just read the .BAS and been done with it :(
I really enjoyed playing this game. And was not expecting this mega bat near the bottom. Managed to get all the treasures back but noticed a few things on the way: 1. The left and right movement keys stop working if your tongue crosses a wall, I managed to get stuck in a corner and couldn't get out. 2. Towards the end of the game, while holding the large diamond I was hit by the mega bat down onto the spikes and rather than dying, I gained all my hearts back.
Overall a short but enjiyable challenge. Well Done
Very fun game to play. Discovered near constant quacking seems to work well, so maybe the power of the quack could be a bit more balanced. Found that it didn't really matter what I did I could never get past level 6. Definitely a case of the more you have the worse it is.
Fun top-down shooter, XP progression implemented nicely
Bodyguard mechanic is good fun, will take a while to get used to and be able to use it effectively. Bugs noticed as above but did not affect gameplay.
I'm pretty sure there is something I don't get, but I had no idea what I was doing :(
Enjoyed this game quite a lot. Gameplay is very interesting, will probably take several playthroughs to beat your High Score though
Quite enjoyed this. The wolves are a little bit jumpy resulting in some difficulty defending. But the art and music are more than enough to keep me playing.
A very enjoyable game with amazing music to et the mood.
Would have liked to see the snowmen you saved move towards the exit, maybe even only be saved if they escape the level. Also would have been cool if they could melt too.
Overall very enjoyable tough. Could have happily played for hours.
This was good fun, but the difficulty ramped up very quickly. Very much like the mechanic or heart stealing though.

Not bad at all for the time you had to work with. Hope you're feeling better for the next one :)
I quite liked this game :)
I found I had plenty of cash to play normally, it was only once I started messing up and trying to fix things that everything turned south. Running out of money is quite devastating.
Also, found a cool bug/hidden feature: sample.gif
This was a clever look at the theme, but not much more...
I agree with Xacur. Simple but fun, not very deep but enjoyable enough
Thanks for the feedback all, I totally agree that it was too much of a stretch for 48hrs.
I'm planning on continuing work over the next few weeks with updates on a separate GitHub fork (or whatever the term is). The game will be amended to show a link to the updated version if anyone is interested.
@mark-kennedy - Currently there is no way to make money as a slave, You are paid as a Worker, but there is no option at that point to do anything with the money.
@wh05herlock I plan to, would love it if you are able to give it another go. Will comment on here with new updates.
@gistneosis I have certainly learned my lesson in what can be achievable. Is there any real art to accomplishing that without knocking something together that's super generic?
Thanks for the reviews everyone.
@almost - you definitely should exist. You have red hair and will always be on the screen you start on.
A lot of the extra art was done on the final morning, I had a headache, a list of things to finish that was too long and didn't want to get out of bed. So I tweaked some of the art.
Thanks for the tip about opting out. May do that in the future.
Really appreciate the advice :)
@tiberiusuciu If you had trouble figuring out the purpose of the map, that's because, at the moment, there is none :( I planned to add a building mechanic to mix in some variety to the game. Hopefully will get it done in the next few weeks if you want to check it out.
Thanks for the feedback :)
Duck/Goose/Emu simulator 2017. I was wondering when someone would make this. I agree with @phillserrazina that if rewards or something similar was implemented this would be a great game.
Enjoyable and clever theme use. Would like to see some way to avoid the muck and maybe a way to hide from the rats/some other feature to reward planning and strategy.
Discovered as long as you are moving in the opposite direction to the rats you don't take damage. And conversely, if you move the same direction you can take damage each turn, making it often the best option to stay still and let the rat pass.
Very clever game. Gota love cats.
Had some trouble using a trackpad though. Wasnt able to use mouse clicks
