Seems like a good concept, but wasn't able to do much with it.
Some form of tutorial would go a long way in conveying what to do. As I played I managed to build a refinery and prospect for oil, but even with shipping routes open I wasn't able to get them to the refinery and lost all my money.
Some other improvements that would help: - A way to exit the game - Some ambient tunes to keep you glued for the hours and days while you empire builds - Ability to change country by clicking on them - Also noticed it was a bit of a CPU hog, could there be some tweaks to improve this??
Good work Joe! Keep it up and you will be making smash hits in no time! ;)

Cheers guys!
@lawzy93 Agree with all your points. I spent too long working out the nitty gritty of the systems to address game ballance, tutorial, art and optimisations!:(

@pete-h I fell into the exact same trap. I'll give you game another go this afternoon :)
At first I didn't realise that to change countries it was a drop-down, and was convinced I could only prospect and build my refinery in Afghanistan, when I realised this wasn't the case I quickly bankrupt myself. I like that building rigs in certain countries will cost you more for the staff, plus the amount of countries must have taken a long time to set up. The only problem I had was the UI was a little on the small side, I could never read how much a rig was going to cost. Otherwise I actually really enjoyed it, nice clean look to it, I would have loved some ambient music like lawzy suggested :)
