Haha really funny game, and the artwork is fantastic. Although leveling up by clicking isn't very fun, talking to people is a lot more fun

Haha really funny game, and the artwork is fantastic. Although leveling up by clicking isn't very fun, talking to people is a lot more fun
It's so addictive!! I like the speed, it's a good pace. Also the music is really catchy
Pure brilliance. How did you do this in 3 days!! The amount of polish is incredible. Kinaesthetics feel really good and the artwork is phenomenal. Music is good too. Very unique characters, excellent job
Simple but fun. I really like the music, great work!
The character design is very nice. Although a sound effect when you change orb will be good, or maybe make the statue glow, because at first I didn't know what 'X' did. Very good job on the concept and mechanics, would love to see more
Oh wow this game's kinda like mine, ninjas, die in one hit, etc. I like your's better than mine though hahaha. I love the sound effects especially the one when you die, really funny. Great work, maybe you can turn it into a semi rhythm game where the commands come in time to music.
Fantastic puzzles, and the art is really nice too. I love Teen Peewee haha. Pokemon forever!
Thanks everyone for the positive comments! I am really pleasantly surprised because I ran out of events in Construct2 because I only have the free version. I had to cut out a bunch of stuff including a tutorial enemy, so I'm very glad that most of you understood how to play!
Great job on the art and animation. The style is very unique. Although there doesn't seem to be any audio which is a downside, some SFX would make the teleporting feel more powerful. But excellent work nonetheless, the control scheme is very ingenious
Thanks for all the nice comments everyone :) its really motivating. Also sorry for only windows, I used Construct Classic to make this since I work fastest in it hehe
can't seem to run this entry :( the web version also doesn't link to the game
JS error as well on Firefox
Nice atmosphere, very "Papers, Please"-esque. Could be a fun way to learn morse code :)
Maybe include a list of possible words somewhere, or give hints to the player about what those words are. Pixel art is nice. Could be a good educational game :)
The controls were a little unintuitive at first, but I got used to them after a while. I like incremental games, and although the concept of this game wasn't too complex, it has a nice graphic style and was done well. Good job :)
Good job :)
Being rather zoomed it made it quite challenging to navigate (I think I got lost a few times haha). Music gave it a nicer atmosphere, maybe as an extension more cubes could be added so that you'd have to control them simultaneously to reach goals for a harder challenge.
Very polished game, great graphics and sound/music. Simple mechanic but done well, fun to play :)
Maybe not the most original mechanic (haha) but those graphics are really great. And the music too. Maybe add some constraints for a greater challenge? Fun to play and good execution of the concept :)
I like the idea behind the game :) The map editor also has a nice aesthetic.
Maybe overlay the actual map over map drawn by the player so he/she can see how accurate he was. Or even procedurally generate the map so you can have infinite levels (this is really hard though)! :D
Good job making all the art, music and code in under 48 hours :)
This is quite a tough platformer. The graphics are cute and do the job well. Also nice job on the procedural generation (in the backstory and map).
Didn't have another person to play this with, but here are my comments :)
I like the idea of having the stone projectile as a weapon, it's an interesting mechanic. Relevant to the theme, and with a bit more features it could be more fast-paced and exciting. Good job :)
I like the idea of adapting a platformer to the one room theme. Really great for a first game! :)
When you land too quickly it seems sometimes you get stuck on a platform and can't jump anymore, I'm guessing that's a bug. Otherwise, good idea and great job!
Graphics were quite nice. A bit short, but I enjoyed it. Maybe use a monospace font for the typing part? Or make the spaces clearer. One other feature you could consider would be adding a puzzle aspect to this game rather than just have it about typing. Good job :)
Everything about this game made it very relaxing. The control scheme was hard initially but works after a while. Great graphics too. Good job :)
Great idea, could use a little more variety (like different dishes, jobs etc) After a while I did get into the zone, which was fun. Nice background music and graphics :)
Really fun game, but I think the challenge goes up a tad too quickly. Good use of particles and other effects to juice up the game :)
This was really funny. I liked the simple but somehow funny graphics? I need to work on my exam cheating skills though.
The game's art style looks really good, and the game mechanic, while simple, is easy to understand and makes for interesting gameplay. Some possible variations might be to have different board shapes, or maybe other actions you can perform? (But that may go against the nice simplicity of the game). Sounds are nice, music is relaxing and doesn't get intrusive, complements the game nicely. By the way, do you mean "gauges" instead of "jauges" in the tutorial? Anyway, good job!
I like bouncing around. The game was a bit challenging to control at first as the bouncing around got a bit out of hand... I bounced off a wall and died :( As a platformer, it was implemented well, although there may have been room for a bit more variety (different platforms, moving ones, some kind of timer?). The idea of having the different enemies (the sneezing, birds etc) was pretty good. Graphics are decent, audio too. Congratulations and great job! :)
Interesting concept. Graphics are decent enough, although the audio does tend to get repetitive after a while. I think both a tutorial and some feedback is needed to make the concept more understandable for a new player. Good job! :)
I really like "puzzly" games (one of my old LD games was about wiring logic gates), and I think this is an interesting take on a Turing machine. It's not very intuitive at first, but with enough fiddling around I got it to make simple patterns. Maybe have a simpler 2D interface as well? The interface looks very clean, but it would be better with more explanations embedded in it. Graphics look good, and I hope you keep working on this. Another suggestion would be to add levels where you have to fulfill certain objectives, rather than just having a score system. Good job!
I really like these types of simulations. Reminds me of both Earth: A Primer and the Powder Toy. I think with a little bit of interactivity, it would be really relaxing and maybe even educational. Good job!
This type of game is right up my alley; reminds me of Zachtronics, especially KOHCTPYKTOP: Engineer of the People. I made a game about wiring vacuum tubes in LD36, and I must say you've done a much better and clearer job than me :) Graphically, the UI looks clean and is works clearly. Perhaps you could have a clear all option? Great job!
The sound effects were hilarious. Mechanics were kinda simple, a little more variety could've helped. Good job! :)
Simple mechanics, but they're executed well. I think you could make the difficulty ramp up a little faster at the start, as it starts of a little too easy.
Great puzzle game! I think a more visual explanation of the rules may make it more intuitive for new players (for example giving visual feedback on the impact each tile has on the neighbouring ones), if you're planning on further developing this. Good job! :)
I thought the way you controlled the ship's movements is interesting. Makes the game more than just an ordinary shooting game. I think you could make the player teleport back to the original position if they die during the tutorial, because I missed out on some information after flying into a planet :P Great job!
This is a really great game, very polished aesthetically. The game as a whole felt cohesive - growing the planet meant one could regenerate health faster, more things that shoot the enemy and build the planet etc. I think one way to improve on this might be to make the health more visually apparent, as it's not very easy to look down to see the number while dodging the bullets. Other than that, really great job on this game. Congratulations!
Haven't played a terminal game for LD before (or ever, for that matter). Fun text as well. Good job!
I really like simulation games, this sort of reminds me of The Powder Toy but gamified. You should continue working on this in the future and add more mechanics or elements to place. Great job!
I like the concept, but the story isn't exactly clear to me. Otherwise, the art is cute and works. You may wish to tweak the movement and collision to make it smoother. Good job on this! :)
Interesting take on the "small world" theme. I think this concept has potential, but it seems kinda random now with the connections.
I really enjoyed the graphics in this game, it really gave off a "miniature model" kind of feel. It's fun to just play around with the interactions and making volcanoes, and satisfying to click tiles to change them. Maybe in the future you could build on the puzzle aspect and have different levels where you must achieve certain configurations? Would certainly be a cool 3D puzzle. Great job!
The design of the game was very charming. The planets looked quite adorable and the entire game was quite relaxing. I think as a game less about speed and more about relaxing, it works quite well. The ship was a bit hard to control for me though. Even so, you have a very nice and relaxing game here. Good job!
I realise this is not really a game, but more of an experimental plaything but it was still pretty cool. The way the graphics synced with the music looked good, and the procedural music generated wasn't bad either. Good job! :)
I'm not very good at arcade games, but this was fun. The 2D-3D hybrid graphics was pretty cool too. There could be a little more in-game instructions at the start, as it wasn't exactly clear whether the 3D spiders were meant to be shot, or what the mushrooms did. Otherwise, good job! :)
I like the turn-based movement and mechanics of the game. At first I kept digging the same spot because I suppose I assumed the darkening crack meant I had to dig deeper to obtain the resources. I think it would be better to give the player some feedback on how the enemies move, or make the enemies move more predictably so that there could be a puzzle element in planning the movements. Good job! :)
I think the art of the player is decent, but a little static when moving/jumping (although I understand it is pretty tough drawing animations in such a short time). The fact that you managed to make background music is great, but it may get a little repetitive after a while. I enjoyed the little cutscene at the start with the voice acting :) I think the controls can be made a little more "tighter", so that movement doesn't feel too imprecise. The collisions are also a bit strange at times, but those are very minor issues. Overall, I think this is quite a good job, especially for your second Ludum Dare. Keep it up, and I hope you'll continue participating in the future! :)
Very clean and nice graphics. I kept mixing up the boat's front and back, so maybe you could make it clearer by making it less symmetrical. Particle effects look good too. Great job!
It was satisfying dragging the goo around. It wasn't very clear at first what all the control orbs did at first, or how big their range was, so maybe that could be shown in a tutorial or through the interface. Other than that, it was an interesting puzzle with mechanics I haven't seen before. Good job!
It was kinda hard to stop the rocket from flying off into oblivion. Maybe tweak the gravity at farther distances a bit? Other than that, it was quite fun although my score was negative :P Good job!
It's not easy to make a 3D game in just 72 hours, so good job! The concept is decent too. The music is not bad, and certainly adds atmosphere to the game during the enemy's attack. I think you should add crosshairs as it's quite hard to aim for the enemies otherwise. The movement was a bit awkward at first, but I got used to it. Maybe you could add different types of enemies to add some variety to the game. Overall, great job!
The collision detection could use some work. Graphics are decent, and gameplay is conveyed quite clearly with the tutorial. If you polished the controls and collision, this could be a great platformer. Good job!
Great idea and the graphics are good too (the animations are all very smooth). The puzzles may be a little unforgiving at times (if you miss a jump you have to restart) but overall it was really fun!
I really liked the 2D-3D art style. One thing I think you could modify would be the the flying movement, as it was a bit awkward controlling the flying. Maybe have the character jump normally, only if the spacebar is still pressed when the character is at maximum height then activate the flying? Also, I think there could be more feedback on the goal of the game, as it's not immediately obvious that the snowflakes and fairies are enemies. Otherwise, really great job on making such a beautiful little game in such a short time!
The audio in this game was very complete, with music and voice acting too. The graphics and UI are decent, although sometimes the tooltips end up behind other elements like the dialogue boxes at the bottom of the screen. An objective system to teach the player the basics is great, although it could be supplemented with a tutorial system that explains the basic mechanics, rather than relying only on tooltips. The map looked good, although the colors were a bit jarring. Nevertheless, I liked the little 3D models that really added a lot of life to the game. Good job and congratulations on making a great game in a short time! :)
I like these types of simulation games, and I think you've done a great job with this. It was a little confusing at first, so maybe if you develop it further you can include a tutorial.
At the start I was a bit confused by the instructions, but I got the hang of it after a while. Graphics look really great, I love the voxel style. The game, while simple, was implemented well and was quite polished as well. You may want to make the buttons, like the station ones a bit bigger so they're easier to click. Great job! :)
Good idea using text-to-speech for the audio. The game was pretty good, and I liked the little clippy that appeared at the bottom. The little touches were quite funny too, like how the name input will increase whenever you clicked 'start' without writing a name. I'm really quite bad at these kinds of games that require agility so I kept smashing into the asteroids. Graphics are quite decent. Maybe consider changing the energy level into a progress bar instead of changing colors, as that may show the level more accurately (unless the intention is to obscure it)? Good job!
Good job you've done here! I guess we both interpreted the themes similarly, since my game is also about managing a council . It's quite impressive how you much content you've managed to add within 48 hours. I also like the map, and the idea of having neighbouring nations absorb your territory. The dialogue is quite amusing as well. I think one way to improve this game would be to have more variables - like visible population, or army size - that might add a deeper level of strategy to the game, sort of like Reigns. Graphics look very clean too. Great job!
It was a fun little game, but the difficulty really spikes at level 2. The audio was fine, the graphics are functional, making this game pretty polished. I've learnt that I'm _definitely a loser_ . Good job!
I liked the art style of the entire game. I think one simple improvement to the entire game would be to make the sliders larger, so it's easier to quickly adjust the levels. Also, perfects more visually show the effects of certain events. I like the music and audio, which generally added an eerie atmosphere to the entire game. Great job!
I liked the idea of having a "platformer" while trying to defend from the aliens at the same time. I think the concept of the game is quite interesting. It's great that you had time to add music too, which I felt really made the game more tense and frantic. I couldn't really get the jumps properly on some occasions, so maybe the platforms could be made to boost the player a bit more. Overall, good idea and execution. Great job!
I liked the aesthetic of the game, minimalist and yet quite nice. Everything seems pretty polished for something made in 48 hours. Really great job for your first Ludum Dare, and I hope you'll continue participating!
Simple game, but well-executed. I was quite bad at it though... Good job!
The game is simple and yet surprisingly requires some thought - especially with not overcharging the batteries. The game felt like some kind of incremental that didn't let you lose focus, which was kinda neat. Good job!
The music added a fun atmosphere, but it got repetitive after a while. I enjoyed the small details you added, like the people walking to the river to throw the rubbish away. Overall, a simple game but executed decently. If you've only had three weeks coding experience prior to this, then this is quite remarkable progress. I hope you'll continue participating in LD, and good job! (Also thanks for playing my game too)
Interesting puzzle. Couldn't get all the four endings though. Nice graphics, but the audio for placing the towers was a bit jarring for me. Very British humour, I enjoyed reading the letters. Good job!
Wow, this is really impressive for 48 hours! It's like FTL but with the freedom to build your own spaceship. I'm not really a fan of the audio though. I hope you'll continue to develop this further, maybe add things like crew members etc. Great job!
I liked the graphic style and the small details, like the current flowing through the wires into the battery. Very chilling atmosphere, so you've gotten the mood down really well. Probably the most, ...grim Ludum Dare game I've ever played. Very, very polished game, or should I say social commentary? Good job!
The graphics are really bizarre, but I found them hilarious for some reason (so I suppose you succeeded, haha). I like the idea of the game, and I think if you had a bit more time you could polish it up more. Good job!
Nice art style. I had to get used to not shooting enemies from afar, since the batteries disappeared maybe a tad too quickly. It feels like a very cohesive and polished game. The recoil of the gun was also quite a challenge, but in a good way. Great job! (Also thanks for playing my game too )
Cool puzzle game! Has a lot of potential for different puzzles. Felt like I was looking at a slice of something higher-dimensional. Minimalist graphics serve their purpose well. The puzzles can be completed rather quickly, however (maybe generate levels or make more?). Great job!
Hey thanks for playing my game, I'm here to return the favour . I like the graphics and all the animations are very smooth. This game is actually pretty polished. Of course, the jumps and the game in general would have more juice if there were some sound effects, but otherwise great job!
Really great idea, and overall a very cohesive game! In my opinion, one way to make the puzzles shine more would be to make every step proceed in discrete turns (one tile step to one turn), so that precise manoeuvring wouldn't be required to avoid the clones. The audio and graphics of this game were pretty good too, and they all meshed well with each other. Considering this is a compo submission, it's very impressive. Great job!
Hi @jeremy-wolf, I'm not sure I can replicate this bug, may I know what browser you're using? Thanks! @lawzy93 I was probably too tired to add a rerun tutorial option, haha.. I'll add that to a post-jam version if I get around to make one.
I really like the theme idea in this game. Perhaps it could be incorporated more in the platforming, like using (predictable) glitches to help you solve different levels? Good job!
This game sort of reminds me of a grid-based Mini Metro. I understand that such a game requires a lot of behind-the-scenes work (like pathfinding etc), so it's quite commendable that you managed to achieve something like this in a short amount of time. I think some improvements that can be made would be to smooth out the motion of the cars so they don't visibly jump along the roads, and perhaps some balance changes to make this more strategic (for instance, some kind of money system or dynamic events that happen throughout the course of the game). Good job!
Fun idea, and it seems like a game with great storytelling potential. This game may also work really well with VR with some modifications. I think some changes that can be made would be to maybe modify the talking audio? Otherwise, great job!
A fun little incremental game. Graphics looked pretty good, perhaps if you had more time you could expand on this further? Good job!
While this game may not have the best-looking graphics (although they were still fine), it feels like one of the more complete games I've encountered so far. It comes with a decent amount of depth and strategy for some very simple mechanics and rules. As some have mentioned earlier, the game does have some balance issues later on, so maybe some tweaking could be made. With a bit more polish, I could see myself playing this game a lot. A minor bug would be that the text flows out of the boxes in the tower selection screen. Overall, a simple game that has a surprising amount of depth. Good job!
I enjoyed the idea of the game, although it did get laggy after a while... I kept dying when the controls inverted :( It's impressive how you managed to make audio and everything for this game in the compo. Good job!
Great game! The graphic style to me seems very Portal-esque. Very nice, clean graphic design too. Gameplay is pretty fun too. The movement was a bit disorienting after a while though, but otherwise this was a really good job!
Going from knowing no code at all to a game in three months is pretty impressive! Overall I thought this game was fun, although a bit easy (you can just pop viruses in one area and use the immunity to quickly wipe them out). Of course, there is a lot of potential for other features you could add to this game had you had extra time during the weekend. Also, maybe you should make it clearer that on the front page you should click the "Pop the Virus" text rather than the virus itself because I spent a while trying to click the virus... Good job!
The idea itself has potential, but the game unfortunately isn't that complete. The programmer art in this case looks quite good actually. I hope you'll work on the idea in your own time (48 hours really isn't that long) :)
Cute little game. Moving around does get a little disorienting at times since the whole map moves. It's great that you had time to make music, but it could be made a little less repetitive. The art is fine. Maybe you could consider new features, like having to tow the garbage bags and with each one you collect, it makes it harder to tow all of them at once (which might fit the theme more)? Good job :)
Quite fun, I did manage to eventually win although the flare wasn't that useful in getting to the end (I mostly wandered around randomly until I reached the end).
