I've played some other's game, but this must be the coolest idea I've seen so far.Good work!

jani-nykanen 2017-12-04 07:13

It has a cool idea, but it could benefit from a more interesting level design.

btwj 2017-12-04 07:16

I really like the theme idea in this game. Perhaps it could be incorporated more in the platforming, like using (predictable) glitches to help you solve different levels? Good job!

niborious 2017-12-04 07:35

I think that the concept of glitches could have been interesting if it used common glitches from making games to have to solve some sort of mechanics puzzle. I was disappointed that the "glitches" in this game are just visual flares. The only "glitch" that actually affected gameplay was the completely random warp that would stop you and then move you forward. This caused you to randomly be pushed off of the one block wide platforms if the timing was right. I couldn't tell if there was any way to predict it, but it was just annoying and I ended up moving slowing and carefully so I wouldn't have to start over from random timing. When I died to the first enemy and was teleported back to the beginning I thought it might be one of the "glitches." You should really add a death animation or something so that the player knows why they are being teleported. The jump felt a little too floaty. It was annoying having to wait for him to fall to get over small elevation changes. I found out that you can press down to fall faster, but it doesn't really help that much. I feel like it should go down faster when I release the jump button - how platformers usually modify jump height.

I think that the game succeeds visually. I like the art style, especially the tree. The "glitch" aesthetic is pulled off quite well.

That was crazy!

The glitch effects are very cool. That must have been quite a lot of work to make all those glitches. The final level is just cruel - especially horizontal warping while jumping onto 1x1's. Brutal!

fun game! just wish you had gone a little farther with it (audio glitches, more challenging levels, etc.) didn't really feel like there was much of a challenge

hooraygil 2017-12-05 14:45

I really like the idea and ethe exectuion of the glitches! Fun quick plattformer and those horzontal stretches are really punishing! :D

ricksquanchez 2017-12-05 14:54

this was the first idea I thought of, but you implemented it way better than I could! the game is great!

brian-wurster 2017-12-05 15:43

Really well executed, great art style. Not terribly difficult or challenging, but I don't think that was the intention. I think you could take this idea further with more time and make it even cooler. This is begging for some glitchy music and sfx too.

sand-gardeners 2017-12-06 00:46

Really excited to see such a game made in 48 hours, in javascript and by someone born in 2003! Keep going, you'll go far! <3

sean-s-leblanc 2017-12-06 06:19

Cool entry! Looks like we went for a somewhat similar idea.

- I found the transition from level 2 -> 3 was a bit too quick in terms of the "level" of glitchiness; it goes from a few rectangles out of place to every single texture being replaced with a text atlas, which ends up making it feel a bit too artificial IMO. This would have been more effective if there were more intermediary glitches. - I would have liked to see more glitches that affect gameplay, either like the little stretch+pop that moves the player, or even just things that are visually distracting or deceiving enough in order to make the platforming a bit more involved - Audio would have been a plus (there's only so much you can do in 48h though, haha)

Also way to make me feel super old by being a whole decade younger and still making competent games :p

rewzu 2017-12-06 15:38

Well done! I really liked the idea. Could use some music and glitchy sound effects though.

nizlow 2017-12-06 15:45

Great idea, and I also think the implementation was quite strong with this one!

When you enter the third level and the tiles get all numbered was really cool. It still felt like a level and was fun to walk through. I wished there was more of a challenge then some parcour and jumping over bad guys. However still very cool game, and incredible that you done all those effects in such a short time.

tomer-cool 2017-12-06 16:14

Thanks for all the nice feedback everyone. Next time I'll try to remember the SFX and music.

budgiem2 2017-12-06 17:26

I liked the idea but it didn't affect the gameplay much. Very nice art though. Great job!

viktris 2017-12-06 17:45

nice concept but the pacing was a bit slow , the cool glitch effects sadly did not affect the gameplay that much.

lunardust 2017-12-06 18:28

nice concept. i love art and feel when jumping in the air.

aaronw 2017-12-06 19:14

Well done, I also started gamedevving when I was young. Keep it up!

kizu 2017-12-06 20:17

Oh damn I didn't saw it was you ! I freaking love this game Glitches are love, glitches are life <3

gwinnell 2017-12-06 21:23

I had glitches down in my design mind-map for this jam so glad to see somebody else explore them! You implemented them really well! I would have liked to see more reason for them to be there from a design point of view though. As an example, perhaps if the platforms were glitching on and off, or enemies glitching on and off, collectables on and off, etc. that you needed to see or use to progress through the game.

From a game feel side I felt the player/gravity was too floaty. You'll want to have tight controls, especially If you're playing a ninja! One to keep in mind for next time. All in all, great work! :)

(Oh, and I beat the game in 167 seconds. New record?)

louckousse 2017-12-07 10:58

Really cool concept, i've just noticed an odd hitbox on the first level.

korpokrowa 2017-12-07 16:20

Great idea for a game! We all love glitches, right? <3

ace17 2017-12-09 08:27

Got to the end! It would be better if you could "stop" a jump by releasing the key early, like in lots of platformers. It's annoying to having to wait for your player to fall down because for most jumps in the level, the jump is too high ... Some audio would have been nice, especially if it's also glitched :-)

tom-panton 2017-12-10 11:10

Interesting idea! I really liked the variety of visual glitches, it took me by surprise when the entire level was replaced by numbers. A bit more challenge would have been nice, though; the game felt a little too easy.

simone 2017-12-11 18:19

190 seconds :) Nice variation on the platform genre!

hayzar 2017-12-12 11:07

The idea is brilliant and funny. Unfortunately you didn't have enough time to add sound effects(you could glitch those too lol). I loved it, congrats.

shito 2017-12-12 13:58

Interesting idea and well executed. I like general idea and the variety of visual glitches you presented. Would have been even more interesting if there were some glitches which influence the game play stronger. Such as jumping at the right time such that the glitch will warp your position slightly to the right to reach a platform one could not reach without the glitch. Or use the time slowing down glitch to make a difficult jump cascade easier. All in all well done!

drtizzle 2017-12-12 15:00

214 seconds!

Well done, really like this game! The first completely glitched level caught me by surprise. I like the concept and the artstyle, but the gameplay was a bit too forgiving and the jumping feels too floaty. If this would be polished, and there would be more levels this would be awesome!

Good job!

2017-12-13 12:59

Interesting idea. I think, using the glitches as actual mechanics with trade offs might have made the game more interesting/fun to play. But it is a solid, even if a bit sluggish, platformer , finished and with the level of polish it needs. So good job.

okk 2017-12-18 18:48

did it.png

I liked graphics and mechanics. Interesting, does this game have not expected glitches?

2018-01-16 18:44

Neat platformer! I included it in my Ludum Dare 40 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecGDWM6QdpE
