Congratulations on your first Ludum Dare! Well done!
I really love these splatter effects, great work!!
Nice game! Really like how it fells when you fire the beam! :D
For my first round I jumped towards the right edge of the screen, and ended up shooting into the air without ever getting back. Anyway, I enjoyed it, having the enemies move as you move and making the attack take damage to yourself made it suprisingly tactical.
I liked the aesthetic of the game, minimalist and yet quite nice. Everything seems pretty polished for something made in 48 hours. Really great job for your first Ludum Dare, and I hope you'll continue participating!
Very cool game and it has nice tactical aspects which make you think about your next moves. If you only spam shooting you burn your energy very quick and you will not get any far.
Gooooooooood Job :D
**First of all:** Welcome to Ludum Dare and congratulations on completing your first entry. It really is a cool feeling to complete a first game and see feedback about it after releasing it. Finishing in such a short time is even more awesome!
**Overall game impression:** The game play is very simple and straight forward. I found it pretty entertaining and fun honestly. I liked the variation in the enemies that you made as well, gave the game a nicer feel. Quite enjoyable overall. Well done!
**Suggestions and comments on improvement:** Make the camera not move. Moving camera without being able to move outside the initial play zone is a little weird...
p.s. check out my game as well please.
Thank's evereyone for the feedback. I really appreciate it! :)
@vkmicro Thanks for the impression and feedback! Going to test your game as soon as i get to my windows PC :)
Played a couple of rounds. The enemies are pretty cool and the graphics are well made. My highest wave so far was wave five.
I have to admit I noticed the fact that enemies movement is locked to players movement in your video first after a couple of playthroughs as I simply tried to shoot everything. That knowledge didn't helped though, my results didn't improve afterwards.
I have to agree with @vkmicro that the camera movement is weird, it made me a tad seasick.
What an amazing little game! I love how not only the camera but the whole game window moves. The recoil mechanic is also very interesting. You've outdone yourself for a first!
Nice graphics, especially partilces, good job!
Particles and pretty sprites, such a delight to the eyes. I like how hard it shakes when you're exploding your chest
I liked how I had to think about positioning before I could engage and shoot the enemies. "is it on a platform, close to a wall, do they follow me" I couldn't make it very far do to being greedy with my energy! Getting 2 birds with one stone is a must in this game!
Made it to wave 6! Nice work, the graphics were beautiful and I thought the mechanics were layered and interesting. I wasn't a fan of the window moving, but I am glad that you tried it out-- that's what Ludum Dare is for! Congrats on your first LD, keep it up!
Nice work. I like the look of it, and they physics have a good feel. The only thing I'd suggest would be maybe find a way to make the enemies move in a little more lively way. Good job.
Very nice!
splatter is always appreciated :)
Nice game. I reached wave 5!, I found the movement a little bit hard but the attack mechanic is really good.
Very good for someone's first ludumdare game. Blasting enemies is pretty juicy.
It's a pity there's no sound and music in this game. It would have really juiced things up for sure. I like the idea. Took some time to get used to the controls, but once I got the hang of it it was pretty fun. Good job for your first game jam.
I think you'd like my game, I had a similar idea: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/torch-boy
Nice little game. Fun to play and well presented. Nice use of particle effects, and the minimalist graphics and colour pallet work well. :)
Thanks this was fun! I really like the graphic style and effects. I guess you know already but audio would have really taken it to another level. Also the controls felt a little twitchy. Overall excellent stuff though.
I made to to wave 5! I like how your weapon throws you backwards, that's a fun touch. Also the screen shake is fun but the screen wobble when you move left and right started making me slightly motion sick :D I really liked the attack mechanic though.
This is a really cool game. I really like the gun blowback mechanic. My only gripe with the game is that the player character moves so fast that it's hard to jump on the platforms. Great work though. I would love to play a version with audio. I gotta know what that beam sounds like.
its alright, a bit quick!
nice game :) I like the particles and moving around the character feels nice
Enjoyed playing your game. I found it a bit difficult to control the player, especially while platforming. I think that your game has great character design, and looks really good!
Nice work completing your first Ludum Dare. I had a lot of problems with the controls, it felt like I couldn't control the main character like I wanted especially around platforms. I didn't get any sound or music which was a bummer. Otherwise really nice work with the graphics and character design.
Interesting game, at first it just seemed like a shooter but with the limited energy and way the enemies move it turns into almost a puzzle of how to group them together for the best use of energy. Nice design. I also liked the clean visual design and over the top energy beam. Enjoyed it a lot. And Welcome to LD.
Nice graphics and the particle effects and camera movement looked and felt really good. I ran into a bug where I would fly off the screen if I jumped while running into the edge of the screen on the right side. The jumping controls did not feel great to me, it just felt difficult to control where I was going. But overall the game was well done.
Amazing game (can't believe it's your first entry), reached wave 6 and was happy to spend hours playing it!
Congratulations on your entry, as about some aspects to improve, the controls could be less sensitive, and audio, everyone loves some sounds!
Congrats again and keep up the great games!
Solid entry! The graphics were nice and I especially liked the monochrome aesthetic of the sprites and tiles, which made the red in the enemies and the beam stand out. Some sound would have definitely added a lot, but I can't be too harsh; I ran out of time to do proper sound on my first LD, too. The gameplay was simple, but I liked the enemies that only move when you move. They added a nice bit of strategy and definitely surprised me as I expected a fast-paced shooter when looking at the screenshots. I'd say one of the things that brought it down is the camera shift when moving which felt unnecessary as it didn't really give me more visibility but rather just made me feel dizzy. The other thing is that I felt the beam knocked me back a bit too fast and a bit too much which made me feel like I wasn't in total control. Overall though, very very solid effort, especially for your first LD!
Nice work! Very minimalistic setting and yet the mechanics feel very polished! The beam and the movements of the characters are well designed! I specially loved the particle effects!
Some music would have been a great improvement!
Keep up the good work! :)
Trash bins unite :wastebasket:. Wave 4 was my personal best. I really liked the physical screenshake, and use of particles.
This is SOLID for a first jam. Plan for audio next time obvs but well done! :D Smooth playing and great visuals. Nice work!
I liked how you flew away on the kickback of your firing. Physics felt funny. I also did a platformer with slidy physics. Good work for your 1st LD :)
Nice game, some way of regaining power would be nice, but fun either way. my highest was wave 4.
@pyrosneak Thanks for playing! You get the power back by killing the enemies, so the more enemies you kill with one shot the less power you lose and you will get back more power from these enemies
Great art style! The only thing I'm missing apart from the music would be a walk and jump animation. The leaning sideways walk looks a bit weird in my opinion.
One of the better entries for me! :)
Hey, i realy enjoyed killing some aliens this red line! :grinning:
