LD35 — Shapeshift

Watch What You Shoot by commanderstitch 2016-04-23T14:43:00

An interesting concept, but I'd like to see a bit more gameplay around the shapeshifting concept. All it seems to do is slow you down, maybe throwing in some positive effects would make it a bit more interesting and tactical (e.g. if I turn into a big metal tank maybe I move slower but I can also squish the enemy units)

Vikings by timtipgames 2016-04-20T19:52:00

Really nice! Played through a couple of times and quite enjoyed it.

Furniture Ghost by madk 2016-05-07T14:05:00

I think the opening graphic would've worked better as a victory screen!

Super Shape Show by ChrisMingay 2016-05-07T13:32:00

Hilarious indeed! A bit silly, but good fun. :)

The Critter Within by Adam Gould 2016-05-07T18:30:00

Nice game. The change of music when you switch form is a nice touch! :)

Flock! by frondeus 2016-04-23T14:02:00

A really interesting concept, but I didn't feel like i had much control over the flock. I think adding some extra controls could help, maybe something like I left click to form a tight ball and a right click to scatter.

Holy Order of the Inquisition by MattThePie 2016-04-20T12:53:00

Very nice!

Polymorphic Polys by greymouth 2016-04-23T15:24:00

Lovely concept and great presentation, but seemed a bit too easy. I ended up gaining points faster than I could spend them, I think there needs to be other drains on your points resource (e.g. constant drain based on size, movement cost, attack cost), I think that would make the evolution decisions more tactical and place more emphasis on hunting and survival.

gunshift by pixzleone 2016-04-20T13:36:00

One of the best entries I've played so far.

ShapaSort Recycling by Yrasin 2016-04-19T18:04:00

A nice little game with neat graphics and sound.

MISCEO by crisp 2016-04-20T12:26:00

A really strong entry and a interesting use of the theme. Though I didn't really understand how I should be using the other forms and abilities.

The Cell Stage by Andre Odendaal 2016-04-20T13:12:00

Nice graphics, shame you couldn't get it finished.

Freeform by Faulkin 2016-04-20T23:24:00

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I had a great time working on it! I totally agree with the comments about the hint visibility and difficulty - some things I'd been planning to change but ran out of time. I'll probably come back and take another pass at finishing it once the judging period is over.

POLYBRAWL by nk 2016-04-20T20:07:00

Really nice presentation but the combat needs some tuning. I couldn't really notice any advantage to timing my attacks vs just blindly pushing towards the opponent.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Inconvenient Drone Convention by PeculiarCarrot 2017-08-16T18:50:26Z

Fast and twitchy fun! Enjoyed playing this, made it to the ground after 3 or 4 attempts. Nice graphics and sound too! Great job!

I'm an (nuclear) engineer! by zgragselus 2017-08-06T16:22:37Z

Interesting concept and quite fun to play with. Seems like it all about getting the matrix setup correct, then the plant can pretty much run itself. Would be nice to have a few more things to tweak to add a bit more variety, and maybe a gameplay mode where instead of just trying to maximize output you have to hit a daily target with points based on how close to the target you get. Anyway, cool game and nice graphics, good job! :)

Metal Behemoth by spliter 2017-08-05T13:03:58Z

Nice game! I enjoyed stomping around as an iron giant! The animations are good, and the camera shake and sound fx give a nice feeling of weight. Could do with mouse look and maybe a few more gameplay elements, but overall a solid little entry.

Robogod by multiplexor 2017-08-05T15:57:02Z

Interesting concept and nicely presented, the audio and graphics are excellent! Agree with the other comments though that the pacing is a little too slow, and claw grab and drop mechanic is a bit clunky. Otherwise it's a solid entry, good job! :)

Advanced Infiltration Management System by crass_sandwich 2017-08-06T15:50:41Z

Simple but fun! I really like the graphical style and the slow down effect when you're running low on power is a nice touch. Good job!

Planetarium by Irishbruse 2017-08-05T19:44:21Z

Nice graphics and presentation, I like the physics and controls. I think the enemy ships take too long to destroy, it makes it very difficult to kite and effectively manage the pack. Even trying to camp next to the sun I seem to run out of energy. Could probably do with some AOE weapon like a bomb or force field to push back the enemy when you get surrounded, maybe that costs a chunk of energy to activate to add some strategy to it's use. Overall though it's a solid entry and very good for a first attempt, good job! :)

Deep Raider by kr4ft3r 2017-08-12T20:10:56Z

Great job with the graphics and sound, really sells the idea of exploring the abyss! I didn't understand how you are supposed to find the treasure when you get to the bottom though, maybe there was some clue I missed.

B1NMAN_ROFP by davideperozzi 2017-08-05T19:18:44Z

Nice little game. Fun to play and well presented. Nice use of particle effects, and the minimalist graphics and colour pallet work well. :)

STRATOS-RZ1 by matevt 2017-08-05T20:02:25Z

7 points! Simple game but nice presentation and good feel to the controls. I think a distance based score or score multiplier would be nice, but overall it's a fantastic effort for your first unity project. Great job!

iPowerless by Norakio 2017-08-05T16:18:32Z

A nice little game and really well presented. It's a shame there isn't more to it, but otherwise it's a solid effort! :)

Enceladus Explorer by Faulkin 2017-08-01T09:34:13Z

Wow, thanks for the feedback spliter! :)

I agree with everything you say. I had plans for a lot of these things, but ran out of time to get it all done. Unfortunately the fish was a casualty of the time kraken and never made it in, but I have a model ready to go. I also get what you're saying about disorientation and missing passages (I designed the level and even I get lost lol!) I think maybe it needs a minimap that fills out as you explore.

Maybe I'll try to work on finishing a few thing off and releasing a more completed version when I have time.

Enceladus Explorer by Faulkin 2017-08-05T12:45:13Z

Thanks for the feedback Tom, I'm glad you had some fun with it! :) Yeah, the cave is made out of modular sections. I'm guessing the performance issues on higher quality settings are probably due to the full screen bloom effect on the camera, or possibly the 2k textures I used for the environment.

Cheers!

Enceladus Explorer by Faulkin 2017-08-06T15:18:54Z

Thanks for the feedback folks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)

@zgragselus - Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I'd like to add some more water effects and more variety to the textures. I was planning to create a custom blend shader that would add a sediment texture where the normals are pointing up, and maybe some different rock layers based on world space depth.

I'm not sure how the counter could break, did you realise that you have to return the samples to the starting area to score points? I'm sorry the tutorial texts moves out of screen too quickly, I literally threw it into the game at the last minute.

There isn't an end game atm. I'm not sure what it could be, maybe I could add some special samples you have to hunt down to complete the game (fish or something?)

@crass-sandwich - Thanks for the feedback, I totally agree, even I get lost! It really needs something like a minimap or maybe a compass to guide you back.

@sir-daniev - Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, it would be pretty easy to add some particle effects for the turbine and it would really help to sell the movement. I'd also like to add some layers of marine snow and maybe some sediment to kick up when you move close to a surface. A depth gauge would be a nice touch too, I'd not thought of it.

@futil - Thanks for the feedback. I probably spent too much time getting the robot movement right, but I'm pretty pleased with the way it turned out, and it's given me some ideas for another game I'm planning. Yeah, I had plans to add a bit more life to the caves but didn't have time in the end.

@davideperozzi - Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :)

Enceladus Explorer by Faulkin 2017-08-12T19:36:53Z

Thanks @kr4ft3r! Yeah, the controls can be a bit confusing, it really needed a better tutorial at the start but I ran out of time, glad you got the hang of it in the end though. :)

Enceladus Explorer by Faulkin 2017-08-21T17:27:27Z

@xaedes - Thanks, I'm glad you liked it! :)

@lythom - Thanks for the feedback! I agree with everything you say, next time I want to focus more on gameplay and fun. :)

Kinesis - 3D Flight Obstacle Course by TomPendergrass 2017-08-05T15:38:28Z

Fun little game and a nice concept, I like the low poly graphics style too. Good job!

LD40 — The more you have, the worse it is

Slag machine XIII by Faulkin 2017-12-07T11:05:00Z

Thanks for the feedback @tommy, there was a problem with the timer on the middle room (I was tired and in a rush to finish and added a few too many zeros!) so there was a big delay before the last spawn wave. I posted a fixed version above :)

LD44 — Your life is currency

Death's Favourite Marble by rhythmlynx 2019-05-04T20:16:45Z

A difficult but otherwise fun game. Controls feel solid and not too punishing.

MOC-X by emkiusz 2019-05-04T20:31:28Z

A nice idea, but I found it a bit clunky having to switch into a different mode to abduct people. I feel it would be more fun to just have it on a button press so you can react quicker while dodging the incoming missiles.

Value of Life by pokepetter 2019-05-15T21:10:12Z

Lovely artwork, and overall very atmospheric. I just wish there was more to do!

Forced To Fight 🤺 by xUMR 2019-05-15T20:57:27Z

Nice game! My only complaint would be that the movement feels a bit too slow and maybe it could do with an extra mechanic to spice up the combat (perhaps something like a double tapping a move key to quickly dodge in that direction at the cost of some stamina). Good work!

Body + Soul by SleepyStudios 2019-05-05T17:35:45Z

A simple but fun little game. I feel like it would be better if there was some mechanic for restoring your own health pool. At the moment, once your health gets bellow a certain level all you can do is dodge the enemies and wait for your souls health to run out.

Just Survive! by lilkrit 2019-05-10T21:37:41Z

Nice effort, but could do with a bit more gameplay. e.g. I think spending some time to add a score / kill count would've been better than adding a menu system (..though this is coming from someone who wasted a good 2 hrs on object pooling and ran out of time to add any sound fx!)

BloodBath by Tiberiusuciu 2019-05-10T22:01:04Z

The best entry I've played so far! Great graphics and solid gameplay. Nice work!

Space Robots: Fight for Freedom by Fenderbate 2019-05-10T21:15:16Z

Great little game, and nice graphics. There should be bonus points for adding a tutorial too! :)

It's Our Last Stand by derpylz 2019-05-10T22:13:15Z

Great work! I beat the game on the third try. Once you understand how it works it pretty easy to build up a wall of lumps, then you just have to maintain it while building up you're own health.

Lost coin by TinySalad 2019-05-15T21:24:38Z

Nice to see an original take on the theme... for a change!

Weapon Draw by Niteb 2019-04-29T13:13:48Z

Fun concept. It would be nice to see it expanded on, maybe another deck for items and the option to spend a heart to skip an encounter card if it looks too difficult.

Herding Cats by Al Bueche 2019-05-05T15:58:16Z

Great idea, but I found it frustrating trying to split up the cats once they were bunched together. Maybe you could have an option to switch to a water pistol that acts as a repellent to help scatter them?

LD46 — Keep it alive

Campfire by Linus 2020-04-29T19:27:23Z

I liked the ragdoll enemies. Great job!

Violent Running by Faulkin 2020-04-21T15:00:09Z

@odeyalko Greedy corporate cyborgs with golden sceptres! I gave them wheels instead of legs so I wouldn't have to spend time animating a walk cycle

Violent Running by Faulkin 2020-05-12T19:20:03Z

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I think next time I'll try harder to focus more on gameplay, I always get distracted with the artwork!

@spacewizardj The knock-back was actually a bug because I forgot to set the collider as a trigger on the enemy bullet prefab, but I thought it was more interesting than just doing damage to the player so I decided to keep it in as a feature!

I think if I were to do develop this idea further I'd add more enemy types and more player abilities. I also had plans to add some consoles around the environment that the player would be able to interact with to trigger various ship systems that charge up over time (defence systems to help with crowd control, maybe a watering system to boost plant growth, shields etc.)

Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed my game. Thanks again for all the feedback! :D

🌸 Conway's Garden Life by joonamo 2020-04-20T15:18:09Z

On my first try all my plants died before June... just like real life! :(

Keep the Princess Alive by Fernando Tonon de Rossi 2020-04-29T19:04:47Z

Love the hand drawn graphics, great job!

Flytrap Fishing by maxdmg 2020-04-20T19:40:06Z

Fun idea, but the controls made it difficult to play. The camera rotation seems buggy, I ended up looking the ceiling a lot.

SaveThePresident by Ankush 2020-04-20T14:27:25Z

Nice graphics, but the game seems to be broken, it just shows a UI over my character when I click play.

Vegarden by Baptiste Barreyre 2020-04-29T18:59:05Z

Nice little game, well done!

Peanut Butcher by Luca Pappalardo 2020-04-20T14:15:25Z

Fun little game, great work on the graphics and sound! I got to the 5th wave.. then picked the option that inverts controls and died lol!
