Nice game. Hard to keep up with the soul!
Simple concept that still keeps you addicted. The sfx were a bit annoying, though.
I liked this concept a lot. I found it hard to stay near the soul and effectively attack the enemies, so it kept making me consider the tradeoff of doing one over the other. I think refining the movement of the soul so it feels less random would make this feel a lot more manageable without it losing any of the necessary difficulty. Graphics were good, the color swap for friend/enemy was simple but effective and the UI did a good job of being unobtrusive but still making it easy to gauge my current status. Good work!
A simple but fun little game. I feel like it would be better if there was some mechanic for restoring your own health pool. At the moment, once your health gets bellow a certain level all you can do is dodge the enemies and wait for your souls health to run out.
Great game! Simple yet very effective. It was a little difficult to follow the soul around, perhaps the mouse could be used for movement instead of WASD? The controls are displayed too quickly as well - I had to restart the game because I didn't catch the first set of instructions the first time. All said well done!
Very simple approach, yet effective! the game was fun. It may be a bit weak on the theme and require some tweaking. Great work!
Fun little game! I wish that there was some different sound effects or maybe some kind of powerup that makes you invincible for some amount of time. It was kinda hard to follow your soul around to regain health but that made it interesting too. Good job!
Concept is so dope. Art style and audio are also really nice to look and listen. I think there should be some heal-packs or something like that because without them the score would be similar to the previous one (also from math aspect). Although, In overall really cool entry!
@coatline @borys yeah for sure, having some sort of healing or immunity powerup would definitely have solved a few issues, oh well!
Nice compo! Simple, but fun gameplay. A screen with the controls and game mechanics before the game starts would have been better than in-game display (in my opinion).
Nice game! I liked the art-style and I found the music melody catchy! As people have already mentioned it would be nice with some kind of way to regenerate health, though I guess it could potentially be kinda hard to implement without the game becoming too easy! Overall nice job though!
Nice simplistic entry, couple of thoughts: It would be great if there was an animation/sound that played while you were healing When you expand the player sprite gets put on top of the soul which means its hard to keep track of where it is. But nice entry overall :)
Cool set up to manage the two life bar resources. Would have been handy to have some way to direct the soul, even temporarily. Like if the soul goes to you when you enlarge, making it easier to protect or guide.
Really challenging and engaging gameplay. It took me two playthroughs to really understand the concept of the two health bars, but it's a really interesting new idea. I really like the tune, it fits the mood. Great job overall.
@sleepystudios Hey guys, nice work. I'm not sure that the way the life bars work was well communicated (soul life bar vs. your life bar), but I figured it out. Is there a way to regain health for either life bar? Just curious. I like the "juicy" scaling of the sprites, I think that was a nice touch. Solid entry guys.
Such a simple game and still so good! Loved the smooth controls and the simplistic silly graphic. Nice entry!
@jordantanner Yup, being on top of your soul heals you (you can see that the sprite changes eye + mouth colour)
Amazing idea for gameplay! It took me a little while to get -- I agree with others that the feedback could probably be made a little more obvious. Once I understood the mechanics, everything clicked, and just made thematic sense. I found myself making decisions, trade-off, and legitimately forming strategy over medium and long term. Excellent design work!
Enjoyable entry with fast gameplay that worked well in making me have another go to see if I could survive longer and improve my strategy. Would be good if you were also given some visual sign of when your health is increasing.
