LD26 — Minimalism

Triangle Force by HeiShun 2013-04-29T20:39:00

Loved the tone of the game and the music was awesome :]

No Color Allowed by Aaron San Filippo 2013-05-02T21:55:00

Quite basic game but considering you only had 3 hours left it's still a pretty nice result :]

Bunneh by spliter 2013-04-30T22:54:00

I'm glad people are liking my game :]
It seems the camera controls are the biggest issue. I've chosen to limit how much it can see up because then you can only know of the falcon by the shadow. And being chased by something you can't see is more frightening.

QMD by DevWouter 2013-05-02T22:19:00

The game mechanic is really cool, unfortunately I didn't manage to get past the key level, the game ramps up the difficulty really quickly and at times the framerate drops a lot for apparently no reason (mainly when stretching). I would love to see what else is done with the mechanics but it proved too frustrating to continue :/

Haunted Dojo by ramoncb 2013-04-30T22:01:00

There's some promise here but the fighting is very unresponsive and whether you hit the enemies seems to be completely random (that or they just don't respond). Loved the visuals but gameplay needs a bit of work :]

Make me one with everything! by Laksen 2013-04-30T00:23:00

Unfortunately can't launch it. It crashes on load :(

Fragments of Him by Aceria 2013-04-30T00:42:00

This game is beautiful.
I've only really realized what is actually going on when I entered the appartement and had to remove only one towel in the bathroom. It hit me then and I teared up.
Thank you for this beautiful experience.

Evil cubes by raoz 2013-05-02T22:54:00

Had some probems with it, the controlling is extremely floating and you have to get so freakishly close to the shapes that the black cubes just destroy you without any chance :(

Platonic Dot Solid by Prelucid 2013-05-02T22:48:00

Loved it. The tone of the game was really funny and the mechanics worked really well (even though it was devilishly hard to figure out where in space the platforms were located).
Also:
Illuminatus!

Zzaxxaddriill by ming_tea 2013-05-02T23:50:00

This game is quite difficult. Setting a color to each key would probably make it more manageable since right now you have to scroll through all of them in order to become the color you want.

Balls! by Codexus 2013-05-02T23:46:00

This is a really polished game!
It looks gorgeous, has neat puzzles and very soothing music.

Dynamite Knight by funkadunkado 2013-05-02T22:01:00

Loved the humour in this game. When the parents got killed by the castle I knew this would be a funny game.

JumpyBOT by Hackingroelz 2013-04-30T21:51:00

Game doesn't launch. WinXp, even after unziping. Are you sure you included all .dlls ?

MiniCrawler by Nezzhil 2013-04-30T22:39:00

Unfortunately can't play it.
Getting an "Could not find the main class com.nezzhil.ld48.minimalism.Main." error.
I'm on windows XP 32Bit, with latest java version installed.

Captain Blowhole by EatYourBeef_Doug 2013-04-30T22:27:00

Definitely one of the better games I've played on this compo, and I love the subtle touch of having bullets also attracted by gravity and changing paths :]

Combattant by Kyatric 2013-04-29T21:19:00

This would great as a multiplayer game and can use some polish in terms of mechanics (eg: quite easy to stun-lock the oponent)

TunnelVision by wzl 2013-04-30T22:36:00

This game is sweet as hell.
The music is really cool, and while at the beginning I was thinking "well, this is a bit easy..." by the end I was smashing through walls at top speed and having loads of fun doing it.

Panzers by Canard Sauvage 2013-04-30T00:13:00

I loved the humour in this game. And the music was really catchy (albeit got a bit repetitive after I died for the 8th time in the first level :p)

LD27 — 10 Seconds

Out Of Time by spliter 2013-08-27T09:43:00

Sorry you can't run the game, I'll fix it as soon as I can (probaly when I return home from work)

Out Of Time by spliter 2013-08-27T11:09:00

Ok, the game is supposedly fixed but I can't test it on other PCs.

Out Of Time by spliter 2013-08-27T17:14:00

Thanks a lot Gear and Kacperski (Esp kacperski) I've included the missing file, and it should be running now. As for the debug functions: I didn't have time to look for how to disable the console.

Legend of Troll by Christina Antoinette Neofotistou 2013-08-28T22:33:00

Very neat game, the idea for trolls turning into bricks is a very interesting one and I;d love to see more done with it. Also the art and animation are gorgeous and the music is sweet on the ears.

Bomb Defuse Simulator 2013 by Aceria 2013-08-28T08:37:00

Shame we can't play the game but it seems at least it's very interesting and definitely one of the most innovative games in this LD :]

Tetchy Mrs. Sheriff Saves The Day by Pol 2013-08-30T22:24:00

This game is incredible. Loved the humour, the graphics and sounds and the gameplay.
Unfortunately I couldn't beat it, that last sequence I just can't reproduce on my keyboard (maybe I could do it if I had a flat one), but I had loads of time none the less.

Doc 2 Da Future by mcburrobit 2013-08-28T12:47:00

Love the idea of having minigames composing one big one, However in the first level it it wasn't explained that s is used to shoot.

Section Ten by jordanbloemen 2013-08-30T09:35:00

Definitely one of the best games I've played this Ludum Dare. Love the narration, and I genuinely laughed at many points.
Great job :D

Thanksgiving Hero by Amber 2013-08-28T23:01:00

It uses the theme perfectly, unfortunately the constant trial an error of the game isn't that fun.
I assume it would be a lot more fun if I actually knew the american dishes (since the clues are there) rather than having to go purely by guesswork on what i should eat next, and having to restart the sequence from the start each time I try the next item.

10 Second Lead by Sinuath 2013-08-28T00:28:00

Game fails to open for me, says "Could not find the main class Maze.maze"

The only one by JaJ 2013-08-28T23:34:00

Loved the game, the graphics are gorgeous and I actually got invested in the character which is incredible for a LD game. (invested enough to spend 10 minutes trying to beat it since I couldn't find Daisy so I started looking around)

10s Zombies by Myyyvothrr 2013-08-28T12:53:00

The premise seemed pretty neat but the painfully slow pace at which you move removes quite a lot from the experience.

Programming Failure by Niavlys 2013-08-28T08:22:00

Sadly not only is the game very glitchy but also only one level really doesn't make it.

LD39 — Running out of Power

Thaka hu' a by Kirill Nepomnyaschiy 2017-07-31T21:50:57Z

It looks very nice, but feels like you could have used partnering up with someone to do the coding and sound while you're making the (very nice) art.

Cryo Caper by frozenshadowdragon 2017-07-31T23:01:52Z

I liked the FTL vibe, though the game could have used some mechanical polish. I've pretty much went from start to finish on a single run by disabling weapons, sensors and lowering AI. Additionally there seem to be very few choices the player can do. Sure the players can chose to enable and disable different systems, but there's nothing informing them on what might be the best choice (other than the sporadic change in scenery between asteroid field and the nebula). Having the players able to see the incoming threats be it on the minimap (or to keep with the atmosphere, a radar or proximity sensor) would allow players to make an actual decision whether they'll bet on activating weapons or shield or another component (the sensors could do that, so the player could decide whether to activate them and see incoming threats, or deactivate to reduce power usage), this would allow a more dynamic gameplay.

Another thing that could be improved on would be representation of values. having a huge number for power and a smaller one for energy spent per day kind of means nothing so I appreciate that you added the counters for days until power runs out and days until destination. However that doesn't solve the original issue of big numbers. All in all, the game has lots of potential, especially in mechanics, if it was more polished.

Solar Miner by mrboxbox 2017-08-04T00:56:11Z

My only complaint is that there isn't more of it.

Solar Miner by mrboxbox 2017-08-04T00:56:41Z

@mrboxbox unfortunately no notifications :(

Power Stationed by ReboundGames 2017-08-02T23:33:39Z

Definitely one of the better games I've played so far. had a smile as soon as I realized just how ridiculous it was getting (granted, didn't win, but still had fun)

Tiny Warlock by bwalter 2017-07-31T23:26:22Z

It's a bit too clusterfucky for me. It looks very nice, and the intro effect was really cool, but throughout 90% of the game I had no idea what was going on.

Run, Robot, Run: The search for power by SnipZ 2017-07-31T21:52:32Z

unfortunately I'm unable to download this, when I try to it just shows an empty page that says "Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. Please try your request again later. Why did this happen?" You might want to host it somewhere else like on google drive, or itchio.

Metal Behemoth by spliter 2017-07-31T22:43:39Z

@Rakowu Lak of music is concerning, I know I've spent 2 hours bashing my keyboard into my face to make it, and it's half the pun (the music is kinda metal-ish)

Metal Behemoth by spliter 2017-07-31T23:06:00Z

@hilvon yeah, the roll is kind of slow, and it took me a while to get it down, used to be much worse. In reality when you roll, the tanks will immediatelly stop aiming where you're going to be, and simply fire at the place where you started the roll. I wanted to keep the big clunky feeling, but also trying to make it more fair.

Devious Plant Commando by Marcenat 2017-07-31T23:45:16Z

Really liked the game, my conly complaint is that there doesn't seem to be enough ammo to kill all plants, alternatively there doesn't seem to be any objective in the game (unless I missed something)

Rolling out of power! by Willbl3pic 2017-07-31T21:42:11Z

Love the idea of going faster the better you do and so automatically adjusting to your skill level. The movement is a bit simplistic though, having the ball behave more like a ball that rolls around might have given it a better feel.

Give a Dog a Bone: Dog Petting Simulator by Campbell 2017-08-03T23:57:31Z

I have never felt dirtier when petting a dog. I think I need a bath

Galac'Song by Draklaw 2017-08-04T00:33:51Z

Pretty good prototype here, I like how you used the theme to remove the powers rather than adding them. The bad thing here is the controls and the collision. For the most part the controls are fine and functional with the exception of of walljump. When walljumping the player will normally press in the direction they want to go, and then jump, in this game, however, if you do that you'll just fall off making it much harder than it needs to be (adding a bit of stickiness to the wall, or accepting a wall-jump after disconnecting from the wall for a split second, would have solved this). The other issue is the hitbox, the entire character contributes to the hitbox, making it much larger than it needs to be, especially with an awkwardly shaped character like this robot (ever notice how all platformers have a short character?). This could have also been ammended by making the hitbox a bit smaller than the character, especially the hitbox for detecting spikes (there's a rule in game design: if you have to cheat, cheat in player's favour). other than these two issues it seems like a pretty solid game.

Power Rancher by SeanW 2017-07-31T22:32:00Z

It's a nice looking game, and definitely has some polish in it, however it seems it wasn't playtested. It's literally impossible to get past day 4. No matter what you buy, in what combinations, you'll always run out of energy because the energy requirement grows exponentially (10,20,40,80,160 etc), by day 5 it already asks you to give 160 units of power which you cannot deliver in a single day without buying the most expensive . Ff this got fixed and the power was increades linearly (10, 20, 30, 40, etc), it could have created a very nice gather-wait-improve loop.

Spare Crow by TwoWolfGames 2017-08-03T00:32:25Z

Very fun game, played it for over 20 minutes trying to beat it, you struck a pretty good balance between it being hard but not being too unfair. That said some thing definitely need an improvement: 1-The instructions aren't quite clear, it could use a little tutorial explaining stuff. 2-Every now and then, when I catch a rat or a mouse they just disappear 3-The order of the symbols in the UI and in the requirements is flipped, so I got contantly confused about what I actually needed. Having icons next to the requirements rather than names, and having them in the same order as in the HUD would definitely help. 4-at the beginning, it often happens that mice spawn in the bushes and start heading away from the level, resulting in long stretches of almost no mice until the rats appear, at which point you quickly lose your battery. 5- the upgrading menu definitely could use some icons, and a bit less text for the first 2 tries I had no idea you even could upgrade your crow/base, only on third one I accidentally pressed W, and then tried to click on those boxes. 6-The shield limits aren't well defined since it's a gradient. Having an actual circle instead would help.

All in all, it needs more polish, which I guess you ran out of time for.

Other than that I had loads of fun, The idea of having a battery that gives you a second shot is a great boon for first time players, and once you understand the mechanics of the game the core game loop of upgrading, grabbing enemies, collecting resources, recharging and crafting. I wholeheartedly encourage you to polish this up and release the game on a site like kongregate or ithio.

Goodnight, Wizardog by barsoosayque 2017-08-02T23:40:08Z

Unfortunately after a few rounds the wheels stop working for me and I can no longer attack the enemy.

Enceladus Explorer by Faulkin 2017-08-01T00:12:33Z

I'm a total sucker for science so I knew I was gonna like it, but it was better than I had expected. First off, I love the design of the probe and the way it moves is very natural. The atmosphere was great, completely selling the empty ocean. Design wise i have some critiques though. First off I like that you've added the tiny specks of light (algae?) you can collect for energy and to extend your stay down there. However after some time they become very scarce, stopping you from exploring. Second: even though tne environment is really nice and sells the idea of being in underwater ice caves very well, the distinction between cave walls, ceiling and bottom needs to be much clearer, otherwise is extremely easy to miss the passages to other areas. Third: this games' strongest feeling is exploration. I wanted to see more, i wanted to find the fish or worm that I know you had to put in there somewhere (if you didn't then come on. A game about exploring an existing alien world and NOT have it some kind of animal? How could you miss an opportunity like this?) However, despite that, the game pushes you to return to the surface to deliver your cargo. The light spots were a nice exception to that rule, encouraging me to explore more, but after a while they ran out so I had to return. All in all, really loved it, but could have gone one step further.

Electric lovers by Virtual Turtle Studio 2017-07-31T22:40:56Z

I live the idea of being damaged by your own sweat, though I'd change it so that when you stand you don't sweat, giving some more risk-reward choices to the player

Zo: Alien Invader by Wheelsmif Games 2017-07-31T23:15:22Z

Not really sure what to do nor what the mechanics are. It seems you're supposed to go from city to city and destroy all of them, and you also have a tractor beam that doesn't seem to be doing anything, but in most levels I played you can't get to the end without running out of power.
