This is a very innovative take on the theme. It's also a nice blend of two game genres (reminds me of Hand of Fate). The graphics and sound effects could use some work, but the gameplay is quite good already. All in all, a nice experience.

Nice game! (lot of similarities with mine actually ) The gameplay is solid and the audio and graphics are nice. I felt that buying a weapon was really random though and not always an upgrade from the previous one.

Fun little game! As someone else mentioned, the graphics and soundFX dont quite get on board with me, but other than that this is really well done! Good job sir

Has there been some mistake? didn't see an exe in the download

faulkin 2019-04-29 13:13

Fun concept. It would be nice to see it expanded on, maybe another deck for items and the option to spend a heart to skip an encounter card if it looks too difficult.

niteb 2019-04-29 14:21

@shp I seemed to have mistakenly uploaded the webGL version instead of the windows build, problem sorted

shp 2019-04-29 14:37

@niteb Yep, I was able to play it now. I like the concept of paying life for a chance of upgrading your weapons, but hoped there would be a bit more progression to it! with some weapons you're just never going to try upgrading anymore and there's not enough health to justify extreme gambling

harry-damm 2019-04-29 15:13

Great concept! Audio and visuals are quite bland, but the core idea is very likable. Very suitable for the theme, quite literally really!

Not sure if encounter cards were supposed to have info on them, mine didn't. Very interesting combination of board game-like card drawing and rogue-like.

jk-studio 2019-04-29 15:35

hey nice little game fits the theme on top  .. I found a bug  if you press e repeatedly you can span a lot of waves at the same time

bleyo 2019-04-29 15:38

I like the element of surprise you get with that random weapon, but sometimes a bit frustrating when arriving at wave 4 and you get a hammer with 1 damage and 0.2 speed :P a bit more balance would improve the whole experience but overall fits the theme nicely, not complicated and fun gj

I would've prefered if you get better odds of dropping a good weapon the more HPs you gamble, but I really like it!

erudis 2019-04-29 15:42

I love the game and nice usage of 3d assets. My only feedback its that it seems there is no reward of keeping drawing cards after you got a nice weapon. With time I'm sure you can add some new mechanics to reward choosing using life for more abilities.

syrapt0r 2019-04-29 17:01

This gets really hectic very fast  Really enjoyed the mechanics, very fun to play, love the sound design.

Game Is Very Hard To Play

seb-jones 2019-04-29 18:46

I really enjoyed it. It does seem a little bit unfair that the weapon drawing is completely randomised - once you have a high damage weapon there is no good reason to draw again. Good job though!

simone 2019-04-29 19:52

Nice game and nice 3D models :) I had sort of the same idea in the beginning (an arena with different round and buying upgrades in between each round), but then I moved to a little different kind of game. As for the texture, may I suggest you to use plain colors? Sometimes they deliver better, especially with low poly models.

corny 2019-04-29 19:56

Your comment on my game reminded me that I never gave you feedback on yours, would ya look at that!

The concept is pretty nice, the randomised weapons are a very fresh and interesing idea, which could work really well in a full-fledged game if changed just a little bit, although it works just fine in the context of this one!

If you're planning to work on this game and to make a post-compo version, my suggestion would be to make gambling more hearts for weapons more of a risk/reward situation - the more hearts you give the better (on average) weapons you get. Another thing I'd add would be some images of enemies on the card you draw to start a new wave, but that's just a little graphical touch, nothing more.

Overall, I had a lot of fun with this game and I see a lot of potential to expand upon the core concept here!

cogcomp 2019-04-29 19:56

Delighted to see that the card handling was easy to understand. I usually get really frustrated with card games :-) Well done!

Good game! Discovered an amusing little bug: You can mash E to draw a bunch of cards for one heart. It doesn't have much effect with the weapons (Since the last one drawn is what you end up with), but it can lead to amusing situations like this: Weapon_Draw_2019-04-29_23-12-51.jpg

sanavesa 2019-04-30 01:23

Interesting game. Needs more impact feedback from the opponents. Other than that, really decent!

robowarrior1982 2019-04-30 07:02

Nice work, i love the idea to take card before fight.

popdaddygames 2019-05-07 01:00

I love the design idea- very cool implementation of simple designs and familiar concepts. It can be overwhelming at times, but it's fun!

x-budsterized-x 2019-05-10 18:23

I like it. It started out slow and quite hard, since it was hard to know when you were actually going to hit the enemy and when not.

However, after getting through first few waves and buying my first few weapons, I started realizing that there is a nice variety of weapons, which is a very nice touch!
