Funny idea and good realization ! I like the idea of level down, it's a good way to make the gameplay more and more challenging and it's original. On top of that you have good graphics and audio. Good game !

cute little arena shooter!

the downgrades were a fun addition. It would've been nice to maybe have more downgrades with cool twists, maybe some evolution in the level/enemies, or even a few upgrades you can choose from after a period of waves, just to keep things a little more fresh as it becomes samey pretty quick.

it's a nice start to an addictive, quirky arena shooter. ;)

i also really like the subtle lighting on the windows, just wanted to point that out

:)

A fun (and funny!) little game. I really enjoyed it! ;)

The controls are good and responsive. If there's one thing I'd add it's some more information about the shooting. A lot of games in this jam lack autofire option, instead requiring the player to spam the "shoot" button. Seeing four separate shooting directions here, I expected the same, and played with frantic button mashing. You wouldn't believe the relief I felt when I accidentally discovered this game does have autofire. :)

Another accidental discovery was the ability to shoot diagonally by holding two arrows at the same time. It is intuitive, but not every game with four directions of shooting allows for diagonal shooting. Also, probably my surprise for the autofire played me here as well.

I had one bug-like issue with the gameplay: when I've completed a wave and a new one spawned, pretty often the small peanuts spawned very close to me, so I didn't have a chance to react. I felt pretty good about myself for completing another level, and suddenly two or three peanuts spawned like some sort of demons and jumped on me instantly. You could probably restrict the spawn to happen entirely off-screen.

Other than that, the game is wonderful. It could use a simple music track playing in the background, but even without it, it plays really well. I particularly enjoyed the idea of having your character slowly downgrade instead of upgrading.

Well done on your game. I had a lot of fun playing it. ;)

Cool game! It was a interesting idea to reduce the power level of the player as you go

Interesting game and nice art style!

@lcstark thanks a lot for the feedback! Yeah, maybe I had to include some more info about the overall mechanics  About enemy spawning there is a little check on distance between player and the spawning enemy, but it looks like minimum distance have to be increased! I guess playtesting is never enough

Very fun. I love the mechanic that has you powering _down_ over time. That made the choice really interesting.

A really good game. The movement and shooting felt very intuitive, there's nothing to complain about in terms of controls. The art also looks good. One problem i had is that you'd get trapped in a corner, forcing you to take damage. Maybe making the bomb a little more powerful or adding some stun would help that. Other than that a great game!

I like the powering down mechanic - keeps things challenging! Overall a very fun game. Good work!

Interesting game and solid top down shooting game. One thing I would sugguest is instead of keep "punishing" the player for passing a level maybe have some sort of reward. Cuz getting punished when you did good is not very satifiying. Maybe like every time you passed a level you get a bonus when you did good but you will gradually get debuffs as game progresses. Overall a solid game. well done!
