LD38 — A Small World

Planet Heist by conk 2017-05-14T18:49:42Z

A very nice entry! I like the bassy tune and the darker and great looking visuals which supported the stealthy theme and sly mood of your game. It was very simple to get into. The puzzles were really nice and it was fun to study the patterns to plan your way ahead.

As you mentioned yourself though, it's pretty challenging right away and the game increases in difficulty quite quickly. But maybe I just suck at it :joy:. The screen that fades in every time you get caught interrupted the flow of the game a little as I wanted to try again right away  I had a pleasant game experience overall.

Very polished and professional looking game, great work!

Anthill Multitask by Asturk 2017-05-14T14:48:16Z

I really like these kind of multitasking games, although I lost as soon as you had to do three task at a time :D Clever implementation of the theme. Nice balance, you did a great job easying the player into the game by first explaining the minigames one by one and then steadily adding difficulty. On Retry though, maybe you could leave out the explanations, so you don't have to skip through them everytime, and to have a better flow. Getting right back into action, you know ?

Great work, I had a good time playing, good luck and see you next time :-)

terrinha by unphook 2017-05-13T16:15:02Z

Had a pleasant time crafting a home for the little bunny. I like the calm and relaxing mood that is supported by the cute and fantastic looking graphics and the enjoyable and quite catchy background music. Gameplay is very smooth and nicely executed in my opinion. Although I felt a little aimless towards the end without a bigger goal which made it hard to maintain the motivation to play longer.

Interesting and funny take on a crafting game and the theme. Our game is starring a little mammal too if you're interested ;) Great Work, Keep it up!

Pallas Station by btwj 2017-05-13T20:54:23Z

An unique and fun mix of resource management, base defense and a card game. Eventhough it's a little bit more complex, I think you did a good job explaining the mechanics at the beginning. I especially liked the strategy and planning part, for example when the placement of your buildings on the grid mattered. The card mechanic was a nice addition. The interface, visuals and graphics were really nice too.

The hazard event system is an intersting implementation, but in my playthrough the first event was Mine Collapse, which made it impossible for me to build new turrets and defend myself against attacks, which made me loose the game immediately. That was a little frustrating, so overall maybe the balancing could have been better.

Aside from that I had a good time playing. Great work, good luck and see you next jam! :-)

Flat Earths! by ponywolf 2017-05-12T18:00:57Z

Wow, your game looks very polished! Awesome artstyle, theme, humor and fun gameplay. I especially like to play with the gravity change mechanic which makes the way you move and shoot intersting. It can be a little difficult to hit someone though and the weapons end up hanging in the air sometime.

Aside from that I had a great time playing alone , and I look forward to try out the multiplayer option with members of my team!

Statera by Kristian David 2017-05-15T17:01:29Z

Original game idea, the theme was nicely inculded. I especially like the evolution concept. It's fun using the weapons, but there is hardly any challenge as you do not lose, if you do anything for example. In the future maybe you could include mechanics that requires the player to be active. Keep it up! :-)

Force of Nature by spelos 2017-05-13T12:46:18Z

Just finished your game and I really liked it. The theme was nicely implemented and the hand-drawn graphics are very charming and add to the go-getting mood of your game. I especially liked the saemless transitions from the intro screen to the game and from the game to the end screen. The game idea was quite original and it was fun to lead your little survivors to escape the island.

Like others said, it could be a little difficult to get your survivors do the stuff you want and I don't get what the tidal wave is useful for. I should also mention that at the start of every of my games Cthulhu attacked right away killing 2 survivors. That could have a negative effect on people playing the game for the first time.

Apart from this the game feels very sound and I had a pleasant playthrough. Good luck and keep up the good work :-)

Meteor Mania by Selgeron 2017-05-13T19:25:58Z

Solid game here. It was fun to play for a while and has nice graphics. Very easy to get into. The controls and visual presentation were nice and smooth and allowed a pleasant game experience. Even if quite some people had a similar idea the theme was nicely included.

I like the way you supplied different weapons to play with, but I feel like there could be even more variance gameplay wise. The difficulty could be more balanced as the game progresses. Maybe the healthbar or shield could slowly replenish as a reward for not getting hit for a while, or health as another pick up?

A great and sound entry alltogether that can be build upon. Good luck, I hope you get enough ratings and that we see you next jam, maybe you could check out our game too :-)

6-Sided Sojourn by Cosmic Adventure Squad 2017-05-10T15:59:40Z

Fun to play but not very challenging after figuring out how to not get any damage. Awesome graphics and realization of theme though :)

Musk Hunter by LandoSystems 2017-08-03T22:05:55Z

First of all thank you for recreating one of my childhood memories^^. Your game reminds me of a NES game I used to play when I was a young lad. And secondly, HOW NUTS HAS SOMEONE TO BE TO CREATE SUCH A RAD GAME!!! I would have never thought of it myself. Seriously! The idea that Elon Musk (Elon Musk is actually a Lizard-Man (like for real)) could be a villain is quite refreshing XD. Thanks mate, had lot fun with your gamee^^

Robots from 1991 by dminsky 2017-08-03T21:16:16Z

I have to admit that your visuals are quite nice. That pixelated aesthetic reminded me of the N64 era of FPS games. Eventhough its more like a mix between doom 64 and Turok 2 (speaking about the visuals^^).

Disaster On Nebula One by RAC-Games 2017-08-02T21:31:01Z

This was for development purpose because we did not want to watch the cutscnese 500 times. We forgot to take it out.

Disaster On Nebula One by RAC-Games 2017-08-02T21:44:45Z

@Loktor: You have to finish the level to bring back the powerpacks. We take about 2 runs @ 3 min to win the game. Since we had almost no external gameplay testing we give you 10 minutes which is 3 mediocore runs. So besides dying in the level, you also can day by crashing into the planet. It has a a different ending sequence btw.

Disaster On Nebula One by RAC-Games 2017-08-02T21:46:25Z

@TheFlyingKeyboard: Thank you for your feedback. How did you manage to shoot? We didn't implement a shooting mechanic :)

N.R.G. - Nice Robot Game by StefanRial 2017-08-03T21:27:42Z

Nice lights you've created there mate^^. How did you create them? In my opinion those lights help to create a creepy atmosphere (some people argued that its too dark, but I don't think that thats the case). The dark tone of your game also reinforces the theme of this LDjam^^. The pixel art might be a bit simple but it'll do its job.

Power Plant by Autumnotopia 2017-08-04T17:21:55Z

I like the combination of chill music, cute story and especially the hand drawn graphics which gives the game a charming mood and atmosphere. It's a solid little puzzle game with a reasonable difficulty curve, but I think the later levels could have been a little bit more challenging. It could add to the gamplay if you did not have to go through that little sequence everytime you retry a level, that's a little inconvinient in my opinion. Overwise I think you did a great job with the game alltogether with an interesting take on the theme :-)

Broken Shuttle by Nyri0 2017-08-04T19:32:22Z

I enjoyed the gameplay, which was easy to get into and had a nice difficulty curve for me. You pulled off the controls and the gravity mechanic very well, which resulted in a good game feel. The graphics are pretty neat too. I like the fact that you included a story with characters, but for me the dialog felt a little trivial sometimes. Overall I had a good time playing your game, great job :grinning: !

Lightning racer by thetatautau 2017-08-03T21:49:38Z

What I like about your game is the fact that it is pragmtic. In my opinion the puristic design of your game elevates the gameplay. Every input you make reinforces the importance of energy, which is running out^^.

Your assets are nice too. How did you texture them? Basic textures without any bump or height maps?

LD43 — Sacrifices must be made

upgrades at a price by Nicso 2018-12-06T17:42:30Z

I love the artstyle and had realy fun playing your game.

GameDev Sacrifices by GerodruS 2018-12-06T17:08:20Z

I didn't really understand what my task was.. do I pick what I do or what I don't do? I managed to make a game twice, but I don't know, how. I think you poured a lot of thought into the story, but it really didn't make sense, the way it was conveyed. Your music and sounds are very nice and I really enjoyed the animations, they were well chosen. The fonts you used are a bit hard to read, sadly.

Screw them by RAC-Games 2018-12-04T20:56:16Z

@sam-minh You are absolutly right. There is a need for a mini-tutorial. Disassembling lets you Level up, go fast,do more damage and also heals you completly.

Screw them by RAC-Games 2018-12-04T23:56:27Z

@rumor Thank you ... Navigation is really messed up. We do know why, but did't have any time to fix it :(

Ludumdare 43 - Orzark by Zerochain 2018-12-04T18:14:32Z

I like how the grim atmosphere created by the dark sounds and fiery visuals complemented the way you implemented the theme of sacrifice in a mayan setting. Nice Job :)

Rainbow Factory by Tropos 2018-12-06T16:51:05Z

Funny idea :D Love the unicorn and the art style is nice. The Rainbow wiping the scene clear was a bit slow and the navigation was distracting from the gameplay. Your level building is pretty nice though, it was fun trying different versions of slaying my unicorn. Oh, is my life now a cursed life or do I need to drink its blood first?

Rocket Sheep by NisePandaKun 2018-12-06T17:20:51Z

Funny idea, fun game, maybe the difficulty curve is a little to steep

CaveSlime by YiNian 2018-12-04T18:56:48Z

I really liked the creative and innovative way you linked the theme to the gameplay. It makes for a really interesting game mechanic. I am surprised at how many different situations you can create based on the simple mechanic of division and making way for your main blue slime. I can see how you could constructed many other puzzle-like situations from this. Unfortunately, I could not make it to the end of the game as it got a little bit frustrating to start over from a check point that was quite far away from where you die. And it was confusing when I died from jumping onto the flat part of one of the upside-down spikey boards. Aside from that it was very fun and intriguing to play and I think this is a great game, with cute graphics too ! :)

LD44 — Your life is currency

Tree of Life by wolar 2019-05-02T19:14:58Z

Awesome game! I really liked it and played till I won. The camera drives were used well and the controls were nicely chosen. I liked that in contrast some other tower defense games I played before, you could zoom and turn around. The animations were on point, watching these plants was really fun. They are, however, a bit hard to distinguish, once they are placed. The menu was beautiful, but could have used some more features.

Insert Coin by gil4 2019-05-02T17:08:14Z

Very good graphics. They fit very well and set the mood, animations suit it also well.

For some reason the windows version had no sound, which was very sad.

I didn't get that the spikes were dangerous at first because they blend in so well with the background. I wondered why I had to insert coins until someone behind me pointed out, that I was standing in spikes. Quite the learning curve to do the jumps.

The story is also nice. If it continues beyond one level I didn't get there, there was no end screen, just the dialogue where Bell keeps the money.

Vendor of Doors by RAC-Games 2019-04-27T16:23:08Z

Hey everyone. We finally did some progress which looks quite okay. But we want to bring a darker mood into this world with Knights and Skeletons. ezgif.com-video-to-gif.gif

Vendor of Doors by RAC-Games 2019-05-02T15:07:29Z

@kaeveris You can zoom in and out with the mouse wheel, that helps a lot :)

Vendor of Doors by RAC-Games 2019-05-02T19:18:19Z

@symphonia: Opening all the doors after the first level was a bugfix because our scriptable objects broke during building. The leveling and buying doors system worked well when played in Unity Editor, we're still trying to figure out what went wrong with building the game.

Butt Poke by Enumox 2019-05-02T17:49:37Z

Those sound effects though xD The gameplay was a lot of fun, those levels were hard as _hell._

Only made it to level 3.

Bloody Accord by Ryfi 2019-05-02T18:23:46Z

- Tutorial voice isn't loud enough, but it is hilarious! A pause/fast forward option would be nice here.

- Your textures are nice, you should be able to improve the look of your sprites (sword, bow, etc.) in the tutorial by selecting the textures in Unity and using the _Filter Mode_ with the name _point._

I'm sure, that's not how the game was intended, but I found the strategy of just going to the shop and wait till a bunch of enemies collect, using acid rain to get rid of them, then go back to the arena, collect the heart in the middle, rinse and repeat.

The difficulty level is hard to grasp. I could barely defeat one spider, but once I tested spells, the above "hack" became quickly clear. A fix might be to stop spawning during the time in the shop.

Those spiders are really well made, in general, the models and animations are well done. The sound effects are well placed.

Bloody Accord by Ryfi 2019-05-02T19:59:42Z

I turned my volume up as high as possible, for all other sound it was way too loud, maybe the original sound file wasn't very loud?

Lifser VR by saoi-games 2019-05-02T19:30:57Z

Fun little game. Menu was a bit unintuitive. Aiming was a good challenge.

Arkane Defense by Eugen Eistrach 2019-05-09T18:34:20Z

The graphics and visual effects were very nice, I like the ooverall style. Gameplay is quite tough. I was very bad at estimating what weapon would do what and it confused me, that there were no markings were you can place the towers. It's an unusual choice for a tower defense game to remove all set towers after each level, it raises the difficulty quite a bit. I suppose the spawn button was meant to start waves instead of them starting on their own. It's funny that you can move your character outside of the playing field. It is also nice that the enemies move around the towers on their own.

DollarBot - Ludum Dare 44 - First Time! by Elmos Minion 2019-05-09T18:56:11Z

It could really use some playtesting, the level is just so big for a player that slow... It looks like you just learned a lot of new things in this jam. I like the animations of the money and the wheel, the sound was well done, too, maybe a little off the mood. There were many nice details like the money in the transparent backpack, which I really liked. Nice use of physics! Best thing overall was the core concept of throwing money at problems to solve them!

LD41 — Combine 2 Incompatible Genres

Seppuku Pilot by lightsoda 2018-04-25T17:27:14Z

Cool game, i like the graphics, which go along nicely with the smooth and chill music. Especially the explosion effect looks neat. The gameplay was a bit confusing at first, but I think I figured out what to do after a while. Adding some sort of explanation might be worthwhile, some might be mislead and frustrated by dying so quickly, as it is an integral part of your game. The power-ups were a fun addition, adding replay value to the game. Overall a solid and intersting game đŸ›Šī¸đŸ’Ĩ

Jump Beat by notime4games 2018-05-13T14:00:23Z

Cool idea and sweet beats. Maybe a way to jump without having to time it with the beat might be a consideration as it can get a little frustrating having to wait for the next opportunity 😅, as you can walk independently from the beat. Otherwise, nice entry !

card game + war game by folex70 2018-04-25T17:49:57Z

I like the card and board design you came up with. The gameplay was a little rudimentary, but it surely isn't easy to come up with an intricate card game and implement it in 48 hours. Considering this, props to you for going for a card game and managing to put out a playable version in this short amount of time. I hope you keep up this creativety in future jams. Intersting take on the theme, nicley done! 🙂

Alien Sports by ferrandu91 2018-04-27T21:35:51Z

Creative idea, liked the beat you came up with too. The gameplay is really solid and a good basis to improve upon. Having some sort of score might motivate the player to get better and keep playing. Also a signal warning the player when the sides are changed would be nice, I think. Good job, man !

Solitairey in School: The Card Game Dating Sim/Visual Novel by Lyxil 2018-05-13T15:04:46Z

Intersting idea and interpretation of the theme. Endearing graphics and story so far 😊

Chrono Blaster by CG_Fred 2018-04-28T00:42:02Z

Wow, I had a lot of fun playing your game ! Maybe it looks a little bit basic, but it is amazing what you managed to come up with in just 9 hours. You picked an interesting concept and made a really entertaining game out of it with multiple levels and pleasant progression of difficulty. I also liked that you designed each level a little differently.

One complaint would have to be the volume as your "CHRONO BLAST" at the beginning almost made me jump 😄 Perhaps some way to adjust the audio from within the game would be nice. Apart from that the music is pretty swell too. Very nice entry !

VRn't by Michael Clavell 2018-04-27T21:21:49Z

Cool and funny idea, well implemented too, who doesn't love the classic "Your Living Room" genre 😁. I especially like the soundeffects of the player and the ninjas 😄

Tipio's Grand Typery by NedStormFish 2018-04-25T15:52:15Z

A promising concept, very creative, the typing me2chanic works well. I liked the audio too, if you didn't e[]clude Audio from your ratings, I would have giv3en you a good score 🙂. After the first time I tried Tipio's challenge the tex8t was very close to the top of the window, so i.t was k[]nd of hard to read the text. Good jo... TIMES UP

Last Girl On Earth by Reality Blind 2018-04-25T18:34:36Z

Very cute game, really cool to see what you came up with for the theme. The sprites and sound effects made the characters very endearing 😄 The explosion effects added a nice feedback to hitting the little adversaries. As some mentioned the wave progression could use a little tweaking and there could be a little more variety, but seeing that you are already working on this and that these are very minor issues, it is difficult to find anything beside this that should be improved. Awesome entry ! 💑

Dog Petter by Raphiell 2018-04-27T21:57:00Z

Very creative and endearing game. The game looks and feels really cool and polished. I am impressed by how much you managed to come up with and how detailed you were regarding all the images on the cards, I espeially like the sprite and sound you made for the dog 😄 I don't know if I just got lucky , but I tried a run by almost randomly selecting cards and got a score of 62 (good, bad ?), so maybe the strategic component could be a little more refined. Other than that, awesome job !
