Was a bit confusing at first but after 2 tries i found out how to play. It was fun a bit tricky but still fun.
Heheh. Can't we shoot the girlfriend and save the world. Very funny game. Loved it.
I really enjoyed playing your game, it was really nice. But what I don't understand is that when I get to the 2nd wave she isn't showing me what she wants. So I simply lost, but still a pretty good game overall.

Hi! Playing on Windows remotely through Mac- had issues with the screen size?! Just a small window in the center- and am pretty sure it has to do with remote graphics? Will try again on the Windows box when I get a chance- and rate then, but thought you should know! Thanks!
its a good idea a nice way of implementing it and its fun
The audio and visuals were really coherent. Might have been sort of cool if she was wandering after whatever she wanted and you had to protect her. Either way, fun to play!
@joemid I will add a "F" shortcut to toggle fullscreen. Have you tried "Alt + Enter" ? Anyway thanks for the feedback π

Really fun game with a loveable artstyle and fitting sound effects. The soudtrack was nice and the gameplay felt right. However, when I got past wave 5 the wave counter increased by one, so I got to wave 300 without seeing an "enemy" since wave 5.

The flaming cats are awesome! Also that balloons go up, and cats run horizontally. My only issue is that it is a bit repetitive.
Great game ! But the difficulty increases too slowly. At wave 12 I was tired of it and let my poor girlfriend alone :p

@pestodesign It was intended to have some ennemies spawn on certain waves, but we didn't had time to do it properly so everything is "unlocked" right from the beginning π
It certainly could be more balanced too, but meh, you know, time is short on a Ludum Dare π
And yeah, flaming cats rule π₯
Really solid visuals and audio! It's a simple concept but is put together super well! I love the humour and only wish there was more of it (maybe through dialogue etc). Great work!
So, after completing 10 waves here my feedback:
Cute graphics, fantastic sound effects (I love that meow), using a TANK to defend the girl is absolutely realistic. I would do the same.
The only thing to complain: It seems there is no ending. Although I gave her everything she wanted, the heart could never be filled completely.

@Reality-blind gah! I'm sorry i commented the wrong comment on your game i just saw, i have a list of tabs of games i'm working through and got myself confused. Your game is next on my list to play, especially since you guys have an android build and i can play on my commute! Apologies for that and looking forward to playing shortly! :-)

The art looks great, the music is really nice and the gameplay is fun. My only complaint is that it is a bit easy (the difficulty was rising slowly) so the gameplay felt a bit repetitive after a while. However, this is one of the most enjoyable games I've played. Excellent Job.
@yetman Thanks for the feedback, we had almost no time to tweak the game before the deadline, the post-LD version contains a better wave script, resulting in a more pleasant playthrough that is progressive and becomes challenging when you manage the controls :)
Very cute game, really cool to see what you came up with for the theme. The sprites and sound effects made the characters very endearing π The explosion effects added a nice feedback to hitting the little adversaries. As some mentioned the wave progression could use a little tweaking and there could be a little more variety, but seeing that you are already working on this and that these are very minor issues, it is difficult to find anything beside this that should be improved. Awesome entry ! π
@rac-games Thanks a lot ! As said above, I have worked on the wave script to refine it but didn't implemented it in the builds, because I don't know if it can be considered bug fixing ^^

The core loop works lovely, i loved that when i was waiting for the correct item to come out i still had things to do and balance my time with.
My only piece of feedback really would be that i played until round 7 and felt like there wasnt an increase in friction. Itd also be great to see a scoring method working along side the waves to measure performance vs progress.

I'm absolutely enamored with this game. I think you married the concepts very well. This is really cute and controls pretty well. It did sort of drag on towards the end but I think that was mostly because I wasn't doing too well. Well done!
@reality-blind Thanks! Alt-enter worked so that I could play remotely, but it still looks like this- Screen Shot 2018-04-25 at 10.09.46 PM.png Tiny. Must be the remoting- maybe a dx issue? I will jump on the Win box and see all the pixels!!!
@joemid I'm forcing GameMaker to go fullscreen on launch, I think that is the issue, and as we can see on your screenshot we don't event have the icon in the task bar.
I'm going to fix display issues today, hopefully it will solve all your problems ! π
#### EDIT : it's fixed now, it will launch at 5 times the original resolution (256 * 144), and you can press F to enter fullscreen π

I saw your post that you were looking for games to play and would like to offer up my game: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/on-the-fly I've been meaning to try out Last Girl On Earth for a while since the visuals are so lovely and this is a great excuse ^_^ The graphics and sound effects all gave it a very polished feel and made me genuinely care about the characters enough to push through! (Despite my bad game abilities haha) I definitely want to play more after work and see if I can beat it!

I've been seeing your LDJam blog posts, and now I see your final game, I must say I'm not disappointed at all! Gameplay was fun! It gets easier each wave for me. It's also really funny and I like the 2 themes combined! The graphics and audio really wrapped this cute little game up well together for me! Congratulations on your polished game :)

Nicely done! Very nice graphics and music and overall polish! And cool that you have an android version as well, I think it would play quite well on mobile.

The concept, the graphics, the sound effects and the game itself are really cute. I like the idea of sabotaging other suitors and using their gifts to satisfy your girlfriend. It's brutally fun and amusing.
About the gameplay, it plays really well. The idea of the items (the flower, balloon and the cat) all differing with each other in terms of remaining in the field was a really good move. I survived until Wave 11 and enjoyed playing it.
Overall, it's a really enjoyable game! Really great entry!

Just tried your game on mobile and it run flawlessly. Really simple to play and fun! If I had yo point something out would be the "love gain" you get from picking up what your girlfriend wants, feels a bit low but anyway I made it all the way to wave 3 and I have no plans to remove the game from my cellphone :)

We didn't had time to balance correctly the waves, that's my nΒ°1 priority for our post LD build (which I will build from scratch to remove all the junk code that ended up being not used)

Laughted a lot from this game. Really fun concept. I could spent more time for this game but it getting boring on 5-th wave. Difficulty curve imbalanced - at the start of the game less enemies and items are rare. Further many enemies and items = no real threat to fail the game. I like the concept - it's proof the life, I have a lot of fun, their vocies are very humoristical. Thank you for my rising mood which already lost in the sky XD

I had no time to tweak the waves sadly (we submitted 4 minutes before the end of the extra submission hour x) ), but I now have a new script that will be included in a post LD version that will make it fair, challenging and progressive π
Oh, forgot to say two things:
1) When Items overlaps player pickup the top layer item. Should player pickup needed item? Maybe?
2) Mouse cursor always lose focus when I trying pick up items close to edges... Game needs some technology to fix the cursor inside window (for desktop of course)

No, I mean the windowed mode =) Some "truly made" games locks mouse cursor to prevent missclicks out of bounds and losing focus. Losing of focus in action games annoys a lot, you know it, right?
@saintheiser On previous builds the game automatically launched in fullscreen, that's why nothing was coded for it. I uploaded the windowed version only today and didn't thought about that.

Finally I've played it! Smooth animations, great feedbacks and solid gameplay. That's one of the best LD entries I've played so far. I really liked the "juiciness" of the game, like how everything has a feedback and the screenshakes.
