Great idea for the time limit! Very challenging, nicely ballanced game!

Great idea for the time limit! Very challenging, nicely ballanced game!
I like the idea to make the runner game on a circle, and how these circles are repeating! The graphics were too gray and boring for me though. Good game, good luck!
Man, this was really nicely written! I like how you used the 10 seconds to push the player forward. Simple but good!
I was captivated by the design, it seemed very nice! The game is very easy, and simple. Everything about this games is showing how very simple elements can make something interesting when put together.
This is fun! It is a nice stealth game, and I liked the graphics! Somehow the audio is off for me. The sound of the broom is too much and the music is a bit too slow maybe.
Oh, I think this game has one of the best visuals in this jam! And I liked how the audio built up with the game elements too. Sadly the game is not so interesting for me, not my type. But great job anyway guys!
Wow that was a fun little game! A solid build easy little puzzles and simple but clean design! Well done Sir!
@justcamh I ran into the exact same bug!
Great game mate! I always tell myself I do not like card games and strategy, but who am I kidding? I played 3 games in a row with Void. I found your game on itch.io with the LD45 tag, but there were no link to this page there! I had to search your username to rate. Just add your game link so people can rate your awesome game! :)
Nice little game, solid mechanics!
Cute characters!
Very much like Reigns yes, but a lovely art style! I could not go above year 20, have to play more :) A simple but solid game!
Nice, I love the terraforming! Also, that the vikings appear and eat everything up. Would be nice though if they would build some basic homes or something. Oh, and I know what Ragnarök means, still, I just clicked it on my first play curious what will happen, and than BOOM! :D Maybe the narrator from the beginning can ask 'are you sure you want to wipe it all?' Anyway these are just my ideas, this is a solid little game!
Wow, different that what I expected from your post! :) After reading that I thought it will be a space managing game - what I have in mind - but this is very nice! At first I was afraid we just gonna play Flappy Spaceship all day, but the landing and exploring and all the different places make this very interesting. Also the highscore system is nice, well done!
Shortest game in the jam I think :D Very cute though! +point for "amor fati", the most important sentence of stoicism
@abdul-zakkar thanks, I was working very hard on the graphics! We tried to explain all the rules and shiw it in the UI with the scire, sounds and the colorchange of the boxes. And try it against another human that is awesome :D
@nithin thanks for the feedback! We were testing with family members, and this seemed like a good lenght. Each game is about 3-4 minutes long, enough to turn the tide a few times. How long should it be in your oppinion? Or did it feel slow?
@nithin Oh, ok cool! I am glad you like it! We also tested with friends, there were some heated battles!
@t-bo thank you! We worked super hard! Time to check out your game too, now that I'm finally awake :smiley_cat:
@Ferdi Thank you! Our main idea was to create a bit of chaos while maintaining a strategy game.
@space-nomad Thanks! I personally love the pumping music for this game, but it can be repetitive for some. And I am very glad you find it addictive, we wanted to make the fun factor and replayability very high!
@aleksandar2901 Thanks!
@prasolova-masha Thank you! Our family tested it on Sunday and we tried to hone the gameplay in this short time.
@jk5000 Thanks! We made a super simple AI enemy but yes, it is the most fun to play it against another human!
@daniiln Thanks! We were playing it a lot and balanced it as much as we could in this 3 days - and we might polish it later, also for mobile :) @attala That's a really good sign! Thanks!
Thank you @cax ! I had a lot of fun with the droids!
b1-die1.png
@brotherbondproduction Thanks, I am glad you liked our game! We have a custom cursor in Unity and worked well so far! I will tell our developer!
@djee Thanks for the detailed feedback! Yes, ingame tutorial would be great, but dare I say we hardly had time? :D it is a good point thoug for later! Against spamming those little Sexy bots we made the Drone, it can be quite effective and can turn the tide!
@artyom-volkov great to hear that thanks! I always want to make games that are so new and so different, but this time we just went with the flow. We added a new element with the trashboxes, other than that it is just a tower offense game.
Thanks @hanna-knop , it was the first time working with a developer, so I had more energy to make the assets. And than adding the menu screen was my favorite part, because I wanted to make it epic! Did you play with someone too? That ia the best! An old friend showed up yesterday and soon we had a mini championship at home
Thanks @jonas-michael ! This is as much as we could get in 3 days, yes :D But, I like to think about it that it is like a short minigame you can play with friends anytime. Like tic-tac-toe or something :) We are glad you like it!
I have a list of about 60 games I will try from this jam, yours is on it already! Nice to meet you :)
@jin9310 Thank you! I am glad you wanted to come back for more! Try it against a real opponent, if you can really, it is such a big fun. We had a lot of laughing and cursing on our play tests :D
thank you.png
Thank you @drazhaar ! What would you add strategy wise? We were trying a mode which is harder, where your resource bar is depleating to zero with every robot you make. That would make the game more strategic, but we thought more boring too. As most of the time you would just wait.
Thanks @4quet ! What events would you add? Any ideas? We are planning on a mobile versions, where two people can play on the same phone. :)
@hare-software Thank you!As we worked in a team now I felt I have much morw time for the design!
@andreas-roschal I am happy you like the graphics! The game is simple, but it has some mechanics at least :D we are happy that it works. It is finishing when someone is reaching 100 trash, a game is about 4 minute long. It did not end for you?
thank you3.png
@belug23 Thank you for playing! It means a lot for us!
@hatten Thanks, I worked a lot on the graphics! We kept it simple deliberately, to make something finished! :)
@leoking Thanks! We will work on this for sure later. We are glad we made something finished at least during the jam. Any ideas what would you add? What did you miss?
@purpoappo thank you!
@shelvid Ah that's a petty! We had only energy to implement one screen proportion. We will fix that later too for sure! The Sexy rush can be broken with a drone followed by some droids! ;)
@imphenzia thanks, I am glad you played our game that is not your style! There is an instruction on the main menu jnder the help button, but a lot of people miss it! I will post it on itch.io too, good idea!
Haha I Get you @netmute it can be very heavy! We had a build where there were different speeds, but we did not have enough time to test that for balance. We will do that for the afterjam build for sure. You might end up with a few extra boxes, but winning is not guaranteed, if the bot is meeting a bigger one, or you use a drone. Thanks for playing!
@pedro-rosa Glad you liked it! I am just working on a small blogpost about how to survive a jam with as minimal animation as possible :D (the key is timing and using vector I think)
@drtizzle Thanks for the feedback! I don't think there is a winning tactic, because there are different counter-tactics for anything. Someone before mentioned smurfing with the Sexy bots, but that can be broken with a drone or a Big mama to halt them a bit. Or my friend was trying it the other day and she just spawned the big ones n a row, but that also can be broken. If we will work more on the game we will playtest it more for sure, testing for sspawn times, speed of droids etc. And random events also are on the list, like bombs and explosions. I am very happy that we even could test as little as we did, because that already gave so much feedback and shaped the game.
@diptoman Cool! Thanks for playing! We want to put out the controls to the icons as well so you can play with a click or a touch on tablet/ mobile.
Thanks @enzo-b !
@krakadushka Thanks! I have some ideas for improvement :)
Thank you @stark ! We have some more ideas already how to make it more strategic. Do you have any concrete tips? What did you miss? We really want to male this good :)
@stark Good point! We were totally considering it but that needs a lot of testing and we did not have time during the jam obviously. But thanks for the input, it gets on the idea list!
Thanks @kyle-bowman ! We will work on it more so you can trash your friends on mobile too! :D
@johnnysix good point, I feel the cannon a bit slow too! But we want to keep the trashboxes on the playfield, so they can not be shot out to space sadly. Did you aim high woth it btw? The AI is a bastard! :D
@itsdanidre thank you! We sre glad you liked Trashwars so much! We are looking into porting this to mobile with local and online multiplayer too!
Thank you @bungalow !
@envy-softworks Thanks for playing!
I played like 6 runs in a row and coming back for more! Very nice atmosphere, I ma sitting at the balcony with my pipe and play game after game. The only criticism I can say, is that few times the jokes were braking engagement for me. Like the Biscuit temple and some other cards are somehow anachronistic, and feel a bit out of this world. I am not a spiritual person myself, but I like the vibe here very much, and those felt off a bit.
Great visuals! The controls were a bit too sloppy for me, but I guess that is intentional because of the hovering.
Nice entry! I had some good runs, but I stuck in a corner and they just shanked me. The build to block the enemy mechanics are working great!
I don't know, maybe the enemies should not overlap? IT was like 15 of them on one square, my mighty blows were simply not enough! :D
Cute design and a nice idea! Cat souls are super cute, like jellyfish :D The gamelplyy was a bit clunky for me, maybe would be better with a controller?
Oh, I thought there will be more at the end! Very nice and relaxing game, I love the little windmills and the forest!
Great mood! Although my cat woke up for the bird sounds while sleeping next to me :D He clearly could not meditate! I like how the circle is your lifebar. Nice UI implementation!
One of the nicest graphics in the whole jam! Story was nice too, had a great feel to it.
Something to improve could be the graphics. The start screen looked different style than the shopkeepers, and the city map looked even more different. I like all of them, but they did not fit into the same visual world for me. Oh and the objects seemed distorted a bit when you got them!
But this is really just nitpicking, great game overall!
Hi guys, lastminute rating here, I wanted to play this on the Quest and did not find the time. Good little game overall, a lot more can be added later on. I am glad you put it on Sidequest, many will play it that way! I think changing the little demon characters to something more interesting would be great, more people would pick up the game. What I really liked is, that when an enemy died it was blocking the path from the others! This is forcing them to go other ways and can be used strategically to create barriers too! In Elven assasin the orcs are coming on the exact same path whatever happens, so this is already an improvement!
I like the wolf head. Petty you could not finish it. Next time!
Great art style, and I really liked the logo!
It is a nice little painting tool, but not a game. I would add some game elements. Topics to draw, a timer, interaction, something. I think this should have go into the craft category.
Great mood and I love the animation while he walks in the purple haze! And a plus point that you made it in GMS2, I love game maker! Is there anything after the antenna, or that is the end?
I like the idea! First I made it in 13 days, next 8 days. I needed some time to realize that O2 producing needs oxygen. A bit too pale though, and slow, but it is a relaxing game!
This was fun gambling, I made 10 in a row! I had something similar on one of my old phones about 15 years ago! :D
@attala Cooool! :four_leaf_clover:
Adorable graphics!
Great graphical style and humor! Not a very challenging game though
One of the best game in the jam! Short but feels polished, the graphics help the immersion. The guitar sound was almost like music but it annoyed me sometimes :D
The art is superb!
Now this was really good! I love the modularity, how you collect the elements and shoot everyone up. Would be great to have mousewheel zoom in and out, so the screen size would not be limiting and we could play longer. IT could also start than zoomed in on the player and gradually open up as your ship is growing. Oh and multiplayer would make this amazing. Really nice concept! domination.png
Great assets, this style suits the game well! Not seeing the character is an interesting idea but too much for me, at least a small amount of stardust as an indicator please. :)
Nice mood and world building. I liked the visuals, my suggestion would be to add text in the same style as everything else. Good game though, made me think about my dad.
I really like the little guy floating above the road! If this would be a full game with a lot of dev time, I would make an intro animation where the guy is getting into his invisible car :blue_car:
The game is very simple, but what I really like that the car parts are acting as lives. Nice idea!
A nice idea! Keeping all the needs of the villagers in mind can be tough :D
@geist-191 No, I think this made it heavier and more fun.
@geist only 4! But I will get back to it later! :)
Great graphics and very cute overall design! And I like the environmental idea. Control was very confusing though, I ended up spinning around a lot :D :blowfish:
Feels good to play, and I like it how the arena gets dirty over time!
Haha really fun game! It is very hard to finish it, but I got a feeling it is not impossible to find the best route, and that kept me playing.
Hehe, nothing better on a rainy afternoon than some pickpocketing to lighten up my mood! Cute little game, it was nice to figure out what items to sell to whom. One mistake: there are prompts on the end screen to show items, levels gold etc, but all of them was 0 for me for some reason.
I liked the drawing part.
Did anyone finish the game? Or survived a few rounds?
Nice idea, cool low poly concept, but I feel a lack of testing. (we had the same issue, and I get it this is LD, but still) The ghouls are coming too early and fast, the hitboxes are not clear, there are a lot of misses. I play a lot of games, and I could hardly keep up with the enemy while trying to collect resources.
Very cute visuals! And I am glad to see a kitchen game in the jam, but the controls are very confusing.
So cute! This game has a really great mood, well done guys!
I like the graphics and the movement. And that the rocks are reusable! Nice!
Nice concept, loved it that the darkness was eating me after the lights went out! :bulb: I also liked the potato character, but the background assets looked much cooler, so he was a bit off and unfinished for me.
Great concept! I liked how you could switch gravity and collider, so from very few elements you could create different levels. What was a bit heavy for me was the UX/UI. I would just make a switch button f there are only these 2 abilities to switch. This would make it more fluid. Also a button state would be nice, as I do not know if the collider is active or not. Just to give the player more feedback.
This is a very solid entry, I played at least ten times, and my record is 6! Very good twist on the match3 genre, the collecting resources and strategically eliminating enemy castles is great! Well done!
OK, my best is 13! Had to go back for some more :D
Very cute graphics, I loved the title screen! The child imagination is also a nice part for the story.
A challenging but fun game! I liked the simplicity of the controls, and how tricky it is sometimes!
Also, you listing the tools you used on your game's page reminded me that whe have to do the same!
What I liked the most are the UI elements! I like it when buttons and icons fit the theme so well. Very well polished graphics, and interesting game.
@bereg Thanks, I had a lot of fun with the design! It is up on itch.io already, and the HTML5 is not working on a mobile browser properly, but we will fix that after the jam deadline :)
Thank you @flaquero, I was trying to keep a consistent color and style, and @kazrath was animating thar root soo nicely :)
Thanks for the feedback @slowfrog-again, we need to playtest it more to make it challenging. But it is at least working now and as you said a fun little game. I like to watch the root growing, very relaxing. :)
@apaphy thank you! I know, we would need some more time to playtest the map more, I think. Luckily it is not a long game, so one can restart easily :)
@ekoxe and @chrisco thanks guys! Finetuning the pathfinding algorithm is the work of my teammate @kazmath ! He was putting a lot of effort into it!
Thank you @onlyallygrace! I wanted to keep a contrast in the design: a very vibrant living organism against a pale dead world. If you reach the goal of he game, you actually can see a different main screen telling a new colorful story :)
@jonas-michael Thanks for playing and for the live feedback you gave on Twitch!
@miej thank you! We got a lot of constructive feedback from everyone along the same lines!
Thanks for the detailed review @mikoziq!And thanks for playing so many times! Using random generated content is always double sided: it can make your game interesting and give more replay value, but it is hard to balance.
You are correct, we kinda aimed for a mobile version with the portrait screen orientation. And no, I would never take it as an insult when someone sais we made a game that is a good timewaster :)
Thanks @lichead-studio - will go check out your game now! :)
@maaxoom thank you, yes, it is too hard in this form. I sadly did not hear back from anyone who could finish it.
@mololo, @fargred and @saintchristopher777 thank you both for the review. I agree, it needs more balancing, the level is a bit too random now. We will playtest it more later and balance it out.
@nsadie Thank you for all the feedback! Yes, we need to balance those random elements. We are working with patterns and try to build it in a playable way, but energy is too scarce as it seems.
About the node selection: we were thinking about that, but you actually can pan the screen up and down and select previous nodes too. And more importantly you can split a note! And to do that we always have to define the start and the end points. Does it makes sense like this to you?
@nsadie yes, maybe! We jsut need to find some time together with the developer for that :)
@wizard-sino I agree at the moment. We will try to make some updates :)
@sigill thanks! I just realized the other day, that as the designer, I have a hand in the pathfinding too. I have to draw the stones closer to each other so they don't show fake paths to the player.
@kotzi Thank you! Our goal for the next jam is to make a game that people can actually win!
And I should have write at the start of the game that you can scroll back and split the nodes. A lot of people missed that info :/
Thank you @madbarron! Yes, you can also split the nodes and that makes it a bit more strategic :)
@filgru thanks! Before the bugfix it was far too heavy to finish :D You ar one of the players who actually saw the motto and the end scene :) Thanks for playing!
@eden-shazar Thank you! :) I am glad you like the art, and @kazrath is very happy when people comment his root growing animations!
@villanelle thank you! I think there were a lot of great root games in this jam, and they all use different methods. We wanted to be a bit more strategic, more like a puzzle game.
@laurari thank you for playing! We did not have that before the bugfix update, at least not that mich! I think this is the classic case of "clearing out a bug is creating 3 new ones" :D
I liked the little witches, and the potion mechanics.
Nice soundtrack, shout out to @happytomato!
Very clever, I felr like going backstage and cheating while using he deeper mechanics! Well done!
I could keep playing this for much much longer! Really fun game, well done!
I only can ask what everyone else does: How did you make this awesome game in such a short time?! The bunny is very cute, music is fun, and he gameplay is spot on for a mining game.
A nice little management game! I like the runes and the general feel of the game. The music could be more epic, but hey what can I say we didn't even have a composer in our team :D Great entry guys, I kept playing until 40K
Awesome game! I love how you drew the characters and the submarine, simple but interesting. The submarine has a Metal Slug feeling for me :) I like the different stations too, clever multitasking game! Well done!
Awesome graphics! I really like the level graphics!
Such a smooth and simple fishing game! Not overdone, just the basics, very cute!
I really like the drawing mechanics, and the whole concept is quite innovative. Plus the name of the game sounds like a title of a movie Nicholas Cage would be in! :D
@bereg This is a great game! I just realized we have a common theme with the root growing mushroom, and also that it is a bit more strategic than other takes. Your game has very polished and balanced gameplay, congrats!
I loved the storytelling on this game. Cooking foods that my late father used to makes me remember him too. Thank you for this!
The controls are interesting, and I can imagine this game to become something bigger! The camera sometimes went out of the walls of the level, so I could see the stuff in the lower levels too. And there were some other small bugs, but still its a good game for the jam!
Amazing stuff! One of the best games in this LD!
Great take on the root theme and a fun and balanced gameplay!
The art looks good and maybe you should show a screenshot about the actual game to show people what it is.
Good idea with balancing fuel, health and oxygen, and I liked how the ship was moving between planets and black holes. I would add small stars in the background though! That would give more depth to the game, plus I t would help me feel he speed more. Sometimes the ship was moving and still I felt it is floating in a pool. I know a field of stars is a cliché for space games, but here it would be helpful. A fun little game still, I enjoyed playing it! Congrats!
@chrisco I am glad you did not take them bad! :)
Looks nice, let's try it!
A nice little bullethell! I died a few times, than made almost 3000 in one run.
The dogs are very cute, and I like the FPS references too: I instantly knoew that G is for "throw grenade" I mean rubber ball :dog:  The game has a good rhythm, it created a nicely balanced chaos, I was constantly running around for my phone and answering the door and cleaning the dogs.
One question: what is the purple smoke? **** **Here is our game feel free to check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/jumpcard**
@Rha Oh than I guessed correctly! :) Very nice game :)
A crazy game really! Multitasking at it's best!
Thank you for the detailed feedback @boltkey ! I know the jumping is not the best, coins are too random and not smooth. But I like what we end up with and will develop this game further! Also thanks for the tip with the cards, will work on that!
@bitten-toast-games Thanks! Your game looks great too, just downloading it! I had a lot of fun with the art! Need to polish the mechanics a lot...
@Potondo thank you! I know jumping will be the first to work on when I rested after this weekend game dev marathon :)
@mrerdalural Thanks for the feedback! I have to do more testing and regulate the randomness of the cards and coin appearance. Eg. minimum platforms, minimum coins to have etc. @david-klemencz worked a lot on the sound and music, this is great feedback for him too!
@GameDevMumin Thanks! :) I will write it somewhere! Also just working on adding a targeting arrow :) Will check out your game too!
I am on it @GameDevMumin :)
Wow @Lagman9000 , your game looks great, trying it now!
@GameDevMumin your game is crazy :D rated!
Thank you! @trivial171 I know controls are rubbish... I am working on to put on some indicators right now. I wanted to ditch the WASD movement or virtual joystick, my aim was to use only the mouse. This way if we finish the game it can go straight to mobile :)
@Random-storykeeper thank you for the detailed feedback! One of my plan is to give the player bonuses if two or three cards of the same color gets next to each other, and I plan to add special cards too. Now the card system is pretty random, I will have to balance that too. And I don't even start on the jumping - I know that is the weakest part, that will e the first to fix.
@Fran Segura I will update it :) You are right, my main target was touchscreen devices, hence the weird one button jumping. @swav_gav and @HPMNK Thank you guys! I was afraid of this theme, but somehow just got up and had this idea immediately, and just went with it! :)
@Hopeen @kbjwes77 thanks guys, I will work on it more and publish it :)
@ghust1995thanks, adding a time limit might be a good idea! @ryunos we will finish it I promise :)
@BoltKey @Ryunos @ghust1995 @kbjwes77 @fran-segura @Hopeen @swav_gav @trivial171 @Random-storykeeper @mrerdalural @potondo Guys, thanks to your feedback, I could make a bit of an update t the game. Jumping is smoother and the cards are not totally random anymore. Take another look if you have the time! Thanks again!
The art style is beautiful! Keep it up! **** Here is our game feel free to check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/jumpcard
Yet another Surgeon simulator, but maaan I loughed so much! She was not very happy with me pouring wine on her and throwing the meatballs around :D *** Here is our game feel free to check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/jumpcard
Now this is a good game! I really like the idea to use the match3 mechanics to something useful. Very nice, you should definitely work on this a bit more! I missed a game over screen, or something like that. How do I know when I die?
I got that, I would just need a popup saying I died. But I know, we did not have too much time to polish our games :D
It looks so cute and I really want to try it, but I can not get anyting done. I hit Space, get the purple part, than hit space again and the part disappears. How do I play?
Oh, silly me! OK, finished our game late at night, did not figure this out :D OK, got it, nice idea!
The flaming cats are awesome! Also that balloons go up, and cats run horizontally. My only issue is that it is a bit repetitive.
@Reality Blind Tell me about it, never enough time! :D But still nice game!
@reality-blind True! Or you put your efforts too much on one side! I had a good idea, added nice graphics with a lot of work, and ended up with unpolished crappy mechanics :D
Great subtle art style! I am now checking your other games on itch.io :) The rhythm part was a bit ... off rhythm for me.
it is soo good to see, that a little cute character can give so much life to a game :) The mechanics are also very enjoyable! One thin: how do I finish the game? I ran out of balls and had only a little money, still no game over? *** **Here is our game feel free to check it out: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/41/jumpcard**
Nice, simple, feels smooth to play! For me the chess elements were a bit off visually, but the mechanics were great!
