Hurray for another Godot game! I felt guilty running around pick pocketing everyone, but a thiefs gotta do what a thiefs gotta do.
Foon → Ludum Dare Explorer → LD45 → MerchantQuest

Hurray for another Godot game! I felt guilty running around pick pocketing everyone, but a thiefs gotta do what a thiefs gotta do.
Really clean art style for the characters and the environment. I thought the UI was tedious to navigate though, but otherwise it is a great submission to this jam!
I love pickpocketing :-D Nice game!!!
I can't help but feel like persuading people to give me items to sell back to them would work well in real life...
It was okay. Graphics were nice and the song was okay. Nice try
It's funny how willing people are to buy back all the shit I just stole from them  cool game, you managed a lot in a weekend!
Nice game, great job with the classes and game mechanics. Also I really like your art style.
Good game guys... I've found a bug, when you want to sell a item, if you select one item with a lower price, and select other item, seems like the other item gets the old price, or something like it. Also, I can buy stuff from 1G, and sell it back for a higher price. Don't know if intended.
Also, would be nice to have a explanation of what is happening, or what I'm supposed to do.
Maybe you could use the description field here, in this page.
Congratulations.
Great variety of objects. Nice and simple music. Items prices feels random, but selling them still feels addictive. Spent some time to figure out that E is for interaction. Statistics seems broken, got all 0's. After all - cool game, made it till personal counter:)
Interesting mechanic but I felt like I wasn't entirely sure of if I was playing correctly - I bought the stall at the end half expecting this was where the game would truly begin and the stuff I stole I would sell for big profit. But as a intimidation / pick pocketing game it was actually quite fun, clean graphics and music, nice work. You have the option here to expand it too, what with the "rich" area being blocked by the guards and so on.
This is a nice little game, I had fun
Cool game!
I had much fun with your game :D Great idea and very nice graphics!
It was fun to pickpocket stuff from people and then sell it back to them! I liked the ambiance that the music added to the game as well. Plenty of potential for expansion on this game. I'm not sure, though, that it properly detects the levels gained for the end screen as mine said "0," and I'm pretty sure that I gained some levels in Persuasion and maybe Pickpocket.
@james-dunlap Thanks for the feedback! It's very likely that part is not working properly - that was a last minute addition, and it was kind of hectic towards the end!
Fun little immoral game. There wes some jankiness here and there but that's to be expected. UI could've been a bit better.
Enjoyed this quite a bit, a merchant simulator was my first idea for the jam but I ended up skipping over it
I enjoyed the game, I need to try it with the other two characters. Would like to see it as full game, good job!
Pretty fun game really digged the 8bit style you went for!Maybe you should be able to send more then one item at once apart from that really cool! love how people buy the stuff I just intimated them for haha!
Hehe, nothing better on a rainy afternoon than some pickpocketing to lighten up my mood! Cute little game, it was nice to figure out what items to sell to whom. One mistake: there are prompts on the end screen to show items, levels gold etc, but all of them was 0 for me for some reason.
Really liked the concept and could see an expansion of this idea being really engrossing! Once I started to build skill levels it was fun watching the items and gold roll in!
As already mentioned the end game screen gave me all zeros but I had a good time bullying my way into being a successful pixel merchant! Nice entry.
@don-fouts @pestodesign @james-dunlap @seththefirst You're right! I think I have that fixed now, so thank you for pointing it out!
Reminds me a little of Octopath Traveler, in a good way. The art is great and I liked the idea of the game. The music sounded a little off, but that might have been on purpose. Great work
Nice job! trading and bartering are fun, but picking pockets is the way to go!
First time I played I made the mistake of buying the merchant stand for 0 gold and accidentally winning? Then saw the reviews here and figured I'd missed something so I went back. The idea of trading up to something is decent, but there's a lot of busy work in talking to everyone with very little context of who wants what and what your goal should be. Good job on the visuals tho.
This reminded me of Skyrim. Pickpocket random vendor, sell them back their own item I just stole, repeat. And boom I am rich
@ketura You're right! Thank you for pointing that out. I was fixing a bug earlier on the end screen, and forgot to change the price of the merchant stand back.
On my first attempted I picked muscle, walked up to the shopkeeper, and he sold me the stall for 0g. Then I won the game.
On a second playthrough I picked thief and stole some stuff first, but the shop was still 0g and the game instantly ends once you purchase it.
I suspect this isn't intentional, but I couldn't find any more specific instructions.
@fireslash You're right, that was not intentional. I was fixing something else earlier, and forgot to change the shop price back afterwards. It should be fixed now, but thank you for pointing it out!
Cool game! I like how many different items and players are thrown in despite it being made in 3 days. The gameplay loop alone is pretty entertaining though!
simple, but nice! wish the gameplay was a bit deeper, having stats and level-ups was fun
While I really enjoyed this game the core mechanics could use a little balancing/refinement. Once I found out that you could buy an item and then sell it back to the same person for +2gold it kind of ruined the game for me. I ended up being able to beat the game through this method without utilizing any skills (outside of the initial pickpocket for the first item). I was hoping for each vendor to have specific buying/selling characteristics (randomly generated at the start, but static as you played) and for the game to rely a little more on the bartering system.
Also, I also think I found a bug where if you had more than one instance of an item in your inventory and sold it all instances would be removed but you would only get the gold for a single item.
All in all, great game for the 72 hour Jam!
I loved the graphics, the characters were super cute. The mechanics were interesting as well, you could actually do some experimentation, try different ways to get your items and see what happened, which was really fun!
Nice graphics. It was interesting to play
i enjoyed playing this :3
sometimes a villager will walk up next to you while you're talking to someone and you are trapped until one of them moves, but it lasts all of 2 seconds so no big deal
I like this graphic! Perfectly!
Nice idea, reminds me of the thief 'Felt' in the anime "ReZero". Great Job
This was really fun! I love buy/sell and resource management style games, and this scratches that itch. Graphics were nice, and the parallax effect works well. Music was also solid and fit the overall mood. I think there could be some balancing fixes with buy and sell prices, but things like that are always difficult to pull off in a jam.
Yeah, pickpocking and intimidating. And the figuring out to whom sell it for the most :) Nice little game, i like that you must wait some time after you bullied some folks. Music fits to game and mood.
wow nice idea - cool game :hearts:
